Hermitcraft/Life Series Characters that are not explicitly married (platonically or romantically) in canon, but give off the Vibes:
Impulse and Skizz
Scar and Grian
Mumbo and Grian (they share)
Jimmy and Martyn
Joe and Cleo
...I would have put Ren and Doc but.... I don't think they count... anymore-

i choose to live in denial about the fact that there are so many desires for 'Babies Ever After' in Polin immediately following the conclusion of season 3 because like. . .this woman is nineteen!!! at the start of it all she should be at the club having a panic attack! and at the end, she should be getting railed up and down the European coast by her hot husband who has miraculously good pull-out game!
we are not the same!!!

Ok I haven't seen a post about this yet so I'm breaking my no-original post streak to say:
Can we pretty please talk about the exchange between Cleo and Etho in the most recent secret life session where Cleo is saying that, right below teammates, Scott is someone that she'd never kill unless it came down to Scott vs. Cleo's team. And Etho just goes:
"Oh, so he's your Bdubs, basically."
And Cleo responds, "Yes, he's my Bdubs."
WHAT IF I WENT INSANE
WHAT THEN
Anyway the bonds between the players in this series that transcend the boundaries of each season and carry over throughout multiple seasons are something that is actually so special to me.

Reading Temeraire is just seeing the most romantic dialogue you've ever laid your eyes on only to have to grapple with the fact that it's said between a man and his dragon

me learning that thailand's lower house has passed a same-sex marriage bill (still needs to be fully approved but very hopeful) with a NOT ME TIKTOK feels so fucking right, like once again THIS is the kind of legacy this show has ;_;

What do you think as Hermione's career would be post battle of Hogwarts? To me her being minister for magic really doesn't make sense. She does not have patience or tact to wade through murky waters of politics 😭😭
So hard to say! The Trio are so, so young when we leave them, I find it almost impossible to project their futures farther than a few years out. The job that suited me at 17 would be radically unsuited to me now. That's why of all the Trio, Ron's ending strikes me as the most realistic — he jumps straight into the save-the-world business again, burns out, realizes he's actually Done The Fuck Enough, Thanks, and pivots into a low-stress career where he gets to see his family a lot. Feels accurate! The others are weirder to me because they do seem to just... pick a lane and stay there.
With Hermione, you could spin her a couple ways. You could say that she leans into her bookish side and does research or teaching, which is not my preference for a couple reasons (namely, I don't think Hermione would like academia as a profession; she finds her classwork interesting and enjoys intellectual validation, but she'd be stifled and wasted in a DPhil program, and she'd be infuriated by the administrative politicking of your average higher-ed faculty). You could say that she gets disaffected with politics and ends up as a barrister or a lobbyist of some kind, but if anything that requires more political finesse, because you don't actually have institutional power, you're just handling the people who make decisions and trying to persuade them of your goals. This is not Hermione's preferred method of influence. She's not even particularly good at persuasion, she just happens to be smart enough (and right often enough) that people take her ideas seriously.
Or you could say her brashness fades with the years into a softened flavor of tell-you-like-it-is honesty, which some politicians actually do successfully trade on; as we see in British politics today, you don't have to be all that charming or clever to get ahead, you just need to be really driven and well-connected (which Hermione completely is; she fought shoulder-to-shoulder with the first postwar Minister and her bestie, the Literal Messiah, runs the Auror Office.) But I don't know if Hermione especially wants to be Minister, after the war. She's just watched years of horrendous bureaucratic incompetence plunge the country into a violent civil conflict. She's had not one, but two Ministers of Magic try to bully or shame her friends into complicity with fascism. Her view of government is... likely extremely dark.
But Hermione also isn't the kind of person who sees her life as a quest for happiness. Babygirl has a savior complex that makes Harry look selfish. (She basically kills her parents — yeah, obliviating is a form of murder, #changemymind — "for their own good," and justifies every batshit, vindictive, mean-spirited move she ever pulls on the grounds that it "helps" one of her friends.) She is a mean, lean, dragon-slaying machine, and she needs a dragon. After Voldemort, the Ministry is the no. 1 threat to muggle-borns and non-wizarding Beings. As a war heroine with basically infinite political capital, I'd be surprised if she didn't try to do something there. That said, Hermione is so vivacious and dynamic that she could potentially grow in a hundred different directions; it's possible that all of this, while true of her at 18, becomes completely inaccurate by 22. That's why I'm not too fussed about any particular fanon interpretation.
#greenteacup asks#sidebar: I know Minister “of” Magic is an Americanism but mea culpa#Someday I might actually bite it and pay someone to britpick Lionheart but I can't do it now#because I have a ban on editing published fic unless it's finished. Otherwise I'll never get around to writing the actual ending#I have a Process#is it the best process? likely not! but it makes the words go. so here we are.#I also think the fact that JKR is Gen X makes a difference here. careers worked differently in the 80s and 90s than they do now#i.e. we have the gig economy and a lot more mobility and EXPECTATION of mobility in your early life#that means career changes & professional pivots through your 20s and 30s are increasingly normal#and in fact have always been normal — but the image of the 'true' or 'ideal' career has changed#so we look at those careers and go hm. really? none of them changed?#none of them even went to uni? do wizards... just not?#but again. I believe the epilogue was written almost completely without consideration as to what happened between the BOH and then#I really believe that JKR did not know what happened to Harry except a wedding and 3 kids. because that was the whole point#I don't think she even knew what his career was when she wrote that scene#It existed to marry everyone off and do a quick munchkin headcount#because of the understandable temptation as an author to keep your hand on the wheel. but it didn't even matter!#the epilogue changed NOTHING! it was the most useless chapter in the series! I just — GOD#you can absolutely accuse me of being sour grapes about my ships getting nixed. I AM sour grapes. I AM a hater.#AND I have plot/theme/craft reasons for disliking it.#I'm not objective. I just want credit for being a sophisticated hater. my grapes may be sour but they're still artisinal.

realizing im kind of a weirdo about laios and marcille
#possramble#ignore this im just babbling but#the thing is that like. i don't ship laios and marcille together. their relationship is so so important to me in that laios comphets himsel#and THINKS that he might be in love with her but he isn't and that's my insane obsession#platonic soulmates for real but they're so sweet together that i fully expect them to be shipped together#like i get it. that's almost the appeal for me. if dungeon meshi were any other series there'd be an epilogue where they get married#convention dictates that they're meant to be together as the male protagonist and his beloved female deuteragonist#but dungeon meshi DOESNT do that and i love it so fucking much they're the comphet besties ever for my strange little brain#like if i ever did an arranged marriage au it would absolutely be laios and marcille having a platonic political marriage and then just#the most insane mutual pining with marcille and falin while laios and marcille struggle their way into becoming best friends#the imagery of the king and his beautiful court mage being tender to each other and everyone thinking they're in love is like catnip to me#like yeah they'd be like that and have no idea people think they should be together and the subversion makes me so obsessed#the more people ship them romantically. the more i enjoy their platonic dynamic it's like some sort of weird comphet fetishism idk#people think they're in love and im outside the window like YES... YES!!!#but also the second i see stuff of them kissing on the mouth or fucking im like oh god no i went too deep in here i gotta get out#don't wanna see that. i'll go feral over the idea of laios and marcille being arm-in-arm like king and queen but they would not fuck.#i want marcille to be his default comphet beard and dance partner/plus one at official royal events but they're not kissing.#she's there on his arm because he's scared of the other noble women tryna get him and being a baby about it#and people see them muttering to each other and laughing and generally being very sweet and think that they're dating but they're not.#she's actually covered in hickies from falin underneath her dress and is gonna get dragon dicked right after the party is over#like she's in her bedroom and falin's helping her take her ridiculous dress off while listening to her complain about politics#and falin is the person she goes home to the person she falls asleep to and wakes up with#they're a triad of utter devotion to each other but only farcille's side of the triangle is romantic#it's almost like an open secret because they're not trying to hide it at all but people assume and are surprised to find out#like people are so right about her relationship with the toudens but with the siblings' roles switched#love of her life & irreplaceable life companion. does anyone get it#anyway. i don't know what's wrong with me#it bothers me that they're not the undisputed most popular het ship for marcille on ao3#it's unnatural. marcille being paired with any other man should be a fringe case.

after 19k live viewers watching that stream there better be more tango/etho fan content 😂
they have no right being such a rarepair
#hermitshipping#hermitcraft#tango tek#ethoslab#tangotek#tangtho#decked out 2#tango can mock everyone in chat being etho fans but he is the number one in love with that man#the way he just has so much adoration and respect for him#etho does something mildly great and tango can't stop himself going stupid silly raving about him#and etho was the 1 person whose reaction he wanted most. who he took a screenshot of#and yet loves to rip into him as well#and etho! etho's so comfy around tango!#he always laughs just because of him. you hear him smiling because of him. he teases him freely too#and always ready to give praise to tango! with this. with DO1. with the nether hub...#and an outlet for his curiosity too#(and not to mention the way etho looks out for tango in the life series)#also. you want married couple vibes? the way when etho broke the sign instead of editing it and tango was like#'what you think this is 2012? you can tell he's old school 🙄😁' and then immediately is like 'you need white dye? sure 🥰🏃‍♂️'#like that's his boy! he will tease him and at the drop of a hat be wanting to get him anything he needs#and just. the way over the seasons you see them go from 'we should be friends' to 'we're really really friends' is so special#and like if etho honestly thought about who his top 3 besties on the server are I'm p sure tango would be one of them#they're toothachingly blushingly duo of all time#no right to be so underrepresented!#they love being w each other!!!#they're so fun <3 they have fun together

unrelated to my usual loki blogging or history posting but i finished reading dune yesterday and watched the first part of the film trilogy and i'm so torn
because on one hand, i loved the worldbuilding, i thought the plot and themes were interesting if convoluted and often unpleasant, but i cannot stop myself from thinking about the themes and wanting to know where the story goes next even though i'm scared to learn (and i often didn't enjoy certain plot choices, like the 3 year timeskip or what felt like to me was chani being entirely sidelined)
on the other hand, i read the plots of some of the other novels, of which there is over 20, and frankly i think they sound unenjoyable and also there are so many of them- i know that guy turns into a worm- and how on earth could i ever read them all, what if they stop being good, but by that point i'm too invested in canon as has been known to happen- gestures to still keeping up with the mcu for sylvie alone- do i just. trudge along? through the 20 books?
my current course of action: gonna watch part 2 and maybe read dune messiah to understand part 3 when it rolls around but other than that. i shall try and resist any temptation to be called into the void. (can they cover all of dune messiah in one movie? will it be like 4 hours? so many variables)
and also i'm gonna be hard on the jessica and leto ship. peace n love.

i read i think the first 1 or 2 volumes waaay back and didn't really remember anything specific, but did remember that it was very cute and wholesome. then when i heard about the anime announcement i was like WHAT wow good for them, then when i heard asnm had been cast i was like WHAT i must reread immediately
so i did i reread it just a short while back and ue ue ue soung of crying it was even cuter than i remembered, i loved it to bits, hikari is the cutest moe blob in the world
suffice it to say i was really looking forward to this one, and the first ep of the adaptation has not disappointed at all! i feel like it's an excellent adaptation so far, really looking forward to more. the casting is just ugh chef's kiss, perfect really. i had it in the back of my mind that matsuo was torichan so while i was doing my reread i could literally hear him and it is as perfect a fit as i'd expected lmao
