Where did Baguettes For Beregond come from? Specifically baguettes?

Unfortunately, my memory is almost as bad as the tumblr search function, so unless one of our lovely members of the Beregond Fan Club can fill us in, I can’t give you the exact details of how and when it happened. But I CAN give you the etymology of the word.

2020s: baguette (sense 1) said to be a corruption of Beregette, a moniker of the female fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s character Beregond.

For comparison, I only found 13 that were not yours in the admittedly rather cursory search I did.)

I reread LOTR and I finally know who Beregond is. I can now safely say that you are very correct about him being The Dad. He saw Pippin and was like "whoops I have two sons now"

Spent too long roleplaying with a friend last night and didn’t finish any drawings to post today, so instead…

Another package!!

First of all, the Baguettes for Beregond pin, to prove that I am the official unofficial President of the Beregond Fan Club. I’m a liiiitle bit peeved that the design is off-center, but maybe I can go in and fix that later.

And second, a hard-cover journal with Frodo and Sam on the back of it! (And it’s COLLEGE-RULED!! My favorite!)

So yeah, that’s the haul so far. I’m still waiting on the sticker and pillowcase, so I’ll keep you updated when they arrive!

(Off-schedule post just to say that I looked up the #beregond tag on this site on a whim and I am delighted to see that the first top ten posts it showed me are my own. 🤣 Even the header image is my Father’s Day doodle! Makes me feel justified in calling myself the Acting President of the Beregond Fan Club.

A sizable percentage of the other posts under this tag are just talking about how underrated Beregond is and how much he deserved to be in the movies, with which I 100% agree. Yes, good, Beregond is the best, everybody come lavish love on my man. ☺️)
