Day 30 – Be Still Challenge Meditation: Christ and the 8 Limbs Continued, Limbs 3-5 YogaFaith’s Tree of Life The third Limb: Asana, defined as seat, and used interchangeably with posture and pose. It refers to any of the postures used in yoga for the purpose of achieving balance, promoting physical and spiritual health, and attaining mental calmness. FOR IN HIM WE LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING. ACTS 17:28 Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?1 Cor. 3:16 Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body. 1 Cor. 6:19 The Message The fourth limb is Pranayama defined as breath, or life force. There are many breathing techniques that improve our overall health and well-being. We can practice these for specific ailments to cleanse our bodily systems or calm our anxieties. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given. Gen. 1:30 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.?” Ex. 37:5-7 The fifth limb is called Pratyahara, defined as withdrawing or retreating. This is a withdrawal of the senses, or a control of the senses, and directs our attention internally…see full meditation https://yogafaith.org/be-still-challenge/ #bestillchallenge2023 #yogafaith (at YOGA FAITH) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoBdvf-rAvO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day 29 – Be Still Challenge Meditation: Christ and the 8 Limbs Continued, The 2nd Limb YogaFaith’s Tree of Life The second limb of the eight-fold is Niyama, or personal observances. They are more intimate and personal than the first limb. Practicing these disciplines are more about living from the soul. The five observances include how we relate to ourselves (inner world), self-disciplines, and spiritual observances. First observance is Shaucha, which means cleanliness of body and mind. Yoga postures cleanse and purify our physical bodies, breathing techniques cleanse our lungs and bodily systems, meditation on the Holy Spirit cleanses us through and through, inside and out. This discipline is being free from junk, whether physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational. We must cleanse our body and minds daily. Our hearts must be cleansed of hatred, unforgiveness, anger, bitterness, and any other negative emotions. It is always an “inside job”. God always begins within us. First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too. Matt. 23:26 Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will Prov. 12:2 The second observance is Santosha, which is defined as contentment, and being satisfied with what we have. This is about being happy with what we have and what we do not have. This discipline is about having joy no matter what circumstances surround us. Yes, I’m calling it a discipline because having joy amidst trials does not always come naturally. As Christians we know that all things work together for the good for those that love Him, so we count everything towards His glory. He promises us to give us double for our trouble! So, we can rest at all times, knowing that He has it all figured out. Isn’t this wonderful news? All we [ever] must “do” is rest and trust. You satisfy me more than the richest feast…..see in full at https://yogafaith.org/be-still-challenge/ #yogafaith #bestillchallenge2023 #danielfast #eightlimbs #christianyoga #yoga #treeoflife (at YOGA FAITH) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn-yw-Or-vL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day 28 – Be Still Challenge Meditation: Christ and the 8 Limbs Continued YogaFaith’s Tree of Life Brahmacharya is the fourth characteristic referring to abstinence, particularly in the case of sexual activity. It implies celibacy but it asks that we use our sexual energy towards a connection to our spiritual side, using this energy positively and productively in other words. Also, responsible behavior with respect in moving toward the highest truth in ourselves and all of our relationships. What abstinence creates is the highest truth. Nothing is muddied or confused by sexual behaviors. Before a thought progresses to an action ask if the action is betraying any of your relationships, values, principles, promises, or commitments?” And in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness….2 Peter 1:6 Instead, we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. Acts 15:20 There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two become one.” Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us lonelier than ever—the kind of sex that can never “become one.” There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for “becoming one” with another. Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body. 1 Cor 6:16-20 The Message The fifth characteristic is known as Aparigraha. It relates to freeing ourselves of possessions, hoarding stuff…see full reading https://yogafaith.org/be-still-challenge/ #yogafaith #bestillchallenge2023 (at YOGA FAITH) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn8my8Rri6K/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day 26 Today you are invited to choose a posture where you humbly bow before your Maker, the Creator and Source of all things. God Is Source In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. Genesis 1:1-5, NASB We at YogaFaith believe the full Bible. We do not add or subtract from it, we believe it in its entirety. We believe God created everything, above, below and everything in between the heavens and earth as stated in Genesis. We believe He left His Holy Spirit to dwell within us to be our helper, guide and source. We believe that the postures of prayer written throughout ancient biblical scriptures [before any other literature existed] are just as powerful and relevant to our prayers and pleas today as they were all those thousands of years ago. We know that Christ created our bodies; also called the temple of the Holy Spirit in scripture, and His Holy Spirit breathed into our nostrils and gave us breath, or spirit. We believe one of the many reasons He created us, as well as all creation, is to praise and glorify Him. We use all of these techniques found throughout scriptures to worship Him, to pray, meditate, sing, magnify and honor Him, our Creator. These creations of God that were originally created by Him and for Him, to worship Him, have been used by others to worship their carved idols, false gods or simply as a method of movement and times of stillness, silence or self-enlightenment. This is not what YogaFaith practices. We use the methods written in the Bible and center these on Christ and yoking with Him as well as uniting or yoking our breath and movement together. The word yoga itself is defined as yoke, union or unity. The practice of yoga is not a religion. However, yoga has been used by many religious and…#bestillchallenge2023 #yogafaith (at YOGA FAITH) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn3VCmDLmFf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This has been a truly transformational Be Still Challenge….sacrifice costs us something, but God promises it will be worth it. ♻️ • @yogafaith Day 24 – Be Still Challenge Michelle Thielen Meditation: Romans 12:2 The Message (MSG) Posture: Reclining Hero (Supta Virasana) Place Your Life Before God So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. #yogafaith #bestillchallenge2023 #danielfast2023 #ChrsitianYoga #jesusfirstyogasecondtravelthird Share or post your own to win giveaway! “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, 10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. Jan 23 // Day 23 – Be Still Challenge Alexa Boldt Meditation: Posture: Son Salutation B (Surya Namaskar B) Jesus, the Son of God, washes sins clean with His abundant grace. His grace is like a waterfall and allows our hearts to be glad and our bodies to live with hope. He fills us with joy by His presence. Align yourself with Him; position yourself under His waterfall of grace. |Acts 2:24-28 NIV| But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. David said about him, “I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me that paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence. Heavenly Father, whatever it looks like, whatever may come, I am yours. Jesus, crash over me, take me where you want me to be. Stretch me and mold me. Place me under the waterfall of your grace. Let me be beautifully in over my head in your love. https://yogafaith.org/be-still-challenge/ #yogafaith #bestillchallenge2023 #danielfast2023 (at YOGA FAITH) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cnu9psDyJpC/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day 22 – Be Still Challenge Michelle Thielen Meditation: Isaiah 54 Posture: Warrior III (Virabhadrasana III) Isaiah 54 The Message (MSG) Spread Out! Think Big! “Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby. Fill the air with song, you who’ve never experienced childbirth! You’re ending up with far more children than all those childbearing women.” God says so! “Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You’re going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You’re going to take over whole nations. you’re going to resettle abandoned cities. Don’t be afraid—you’re not going to be embarrassed. Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short. You’ll forget all about the humiliations of your youth, and the indignity of being a widow will fade from memory. For your Maker is your bridegroom, his name, God-of-the-Angel-Armies! Your Redeemer is The Holy of Israel, known as God of the whole earth. You were like an abandoned wife, devastated with grief, and God welcomed you back, Like a woman married young and then left,” says your God. 7-8 Your Redeemer God says: “I left you, but only for a moment. Now, with enormous compassion, I’m bringing you back. In an outburst of anger, I turned my back on you— but only for a moment. It’s with lasting love that I’m tenderly caring for you. 9-10 “This exile is just like the days of Noah for me: I promised then that the waters of Noah would never again flood the earth. I’m promising now no more anger, no more dressing you down. For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won’t walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace won’t fall apart.” The God who has compassion on you says so. 11-17 “Afflicted city, storm-battered, unpitied: I’m about to rebuild you with stones of turquoise, Lay your foundations with sapphires, construct your towers with rubies, Your gates with jewels, and all your walls with precious stones. All your children will have God for their teacher… #yogafaith #bestillchallenge2023 #danielfast2023 @michelle.thielen (at YOGA FAITH) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnstyDtpdcE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day 20 // Jan 20 Meditation: Promise of the Gospel Posture: Dancer Through your life you might have heard or sung the song “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the bible tells me so…”. Jesus loves you. He loved you before you were born, as you were a young child, and as you grew older. Jesus loves you now. Breath into this wonderful, amazing truth. Stand firm into and ground into your foundational leg in Dancer pose. Breath in the fact “Jesus loves me.” Feel all four corners of your foot in the ground, your body strong and firm. Arms stretching in opposite directions, front palm active and reaching forward toward all that God has for you! Lift your heart and head high, neck relaxed and tall. The energy of Christ is in you, around you, and in love with you! I challenge you not to think that simple songs are too young for you. Or that it is no longer true now that you are a grown-up with things you might not be proud of. The song is still relevant. “Jesus loves me this I know. For the Bible tells me so…”. It doesn’t get any better than that. But maybe it does. Even if you don’t memorize scripture, it is possible that you know John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Wow. Breathe that in. Say it aloud. Again. And once more. Yes, not only does Jesus love you in an incomprehensible, but eternal way also; He died for you. Suffered to take away your sins. Allowing you to have everlasting life with him. Breath in that reality. Stand firm and immovable in your Dancer, feel His grace surround you, dance in it. Jesus loves me this I know! It might make you smile and laugh aloud at how wonderful this is. And maybe at the same time cry with joy. This is all good. John 3:16. Challenge yourself to never let this passage feel ‘overused’ or dull — it is His promise! Jesus loves you! “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” That promise can move Mountains. Stand tall. Firm. And be still with God as you embody His promise. #bestillchallenge2023 #DanielFast2023 #yogafaith (at YOGA FAITH) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnnXIxtvA0L/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Today, if we have lost anything in this country, we have lost the right way. Fasting has disappeared from being a regular Christian discipline. Today, our little ones are exposed to every kind of perversion and danger. Who is fasting for the protection of our little ones in this age and our future generations? Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
    No, they have no shame at all;
    they do not even know how to blush.
So they will fall among the fallen;
    they will be brought down when I punish them,”
says the Lord. Jeremiah 6:16, NIV #bestillchallenge2023 #DanielFast2023 #YOGAFAITH (at YOGA FAITH) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnkEXHgpqm-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
