“How wise it is to attack the opposition in a government programme” NCP chief Sharad Pawar asks Modi
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Monday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he challenged his wisdom on using government programs to attack the opposition. Pawar stated the importance of opposition in the democratic setting and said that the present PM never hesitates to violate the importance of this pillar which no other PM ever did.
“Yesterday, he (PM Modi) was in Nagpur where he targeted the opposition. One can understand attacks on an opposition during election rallies. But how wise it is to attack the opposition in a government programme organised to inaugurate roads, railways and hospital?” asked Pawar. Pawar was attending a function organized by his party member for his 82nd birthday.
Pawar added that he has been active during the leadership of several other Prime Ministers including Nehru. “But Nehru did not attack the opposition even during an election rally, he used to present his side only. Opposition parties, leaders of opposition are also part of democratic institutions. All those need to be respected. All PMs, post-Independence, followed it but not now,” he said.
PM Modi on Sunday, while inaugurating the first phase of Nagpur-Shirdi Samruddhi Expressway had said, “I also want to caution the people of Maharashtra and the people of the country about a distortion coming in the politics of India. This is the deformity of shortcut politics. This is the deformity of looting the country’s money for political interests. This is the deformity of looting the hard-earned money of taxpayers. These political parties who are adopting shortcuts, these political leaders are the biggest enemies of every taxpayer of the country. Those whose aim is only to come to power, whose aim is only to grab the government by making false promises, they can never build the country. Today, at a time when India is working on goals for the next 25 years, some political parties, in their personal interest, want to destroy India’s economy.”

Investment Lessons - Paradoxes of successful investing
Speculation can be fun. But investing is not supposed to be fun. Wise investors saw it for what it is: a temporary price adjustment based on nonfundamental factors. Some people like to keep a small portion of their money in cash for exactly this kind of speculative event.
Speculation is fun. It's why a lot of people love investing, and if you speculate with only money you can afford to lose, events like these can be exciting and sometimes profitable.
If you are new to investing and don't understand the difference between fundamental value and market price, this is not for you.
If you are considering putting money on the line that you need for your present or future security: stop, breathe, and walk away. Just like you wouldn't take your rent money to Las Vegas,  don't put your life savings on the line trying to guess what the herd will do next. If you can't afford to be wrong, don't make the bet. And certainly not with money you cannot afford to lose.
*Bored, confused, and lonely are the long-term investor’s resting state.*
One of the paradoxes of successful investing: When it’s clicking, you tend to feel nothing, or worse.
*Boredom is a common state.*
You put the money in, you leave it alone, watch it fitfully grow, and repeat the process. Less tends to be more when it comes to making investment decisions and trading. The more you do, the more it tends to cost you in the form of inopportune purchases and sales.
But it’s not exciting, and it's hardly good conversation fodder. You’re not going to boast to friends and neighbours about your investment in an index fund or a systematic investment plan (SIP).
Yet, when we reflect on some of the biggest breakthroughs investors have had in achieving better outcomes, we find they stem from removing discretion and enforcing routine. Systematic investing and automatic contributions to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is mundane, but valuable in ensuring that investors save and invest on a regular basis. Target-date funds is another unsexy yet very effective step to take decisions like asset allocation, fund selection, and rebalancing off their plate, simplifying matters.
*It can also feel solitary and unsettling.*
Think March 2020, the euro crisis before that, the Global Financial Crisis, and the tech bubble. At times like those, even the most boring and regimented steps we take as investors might seem like an act of valour. You’re charging up that hill while droves of others are clambering down. That’s not going to leave you feeling affirmed or charged up. You’re going to feel dumb and drained, questioning yourself.
*Confusion and doubt often plague the investing process.*
That one went up, why? Wait what, that one lost money? Should I sell my winners and buy my losers? Investing inverts intuition and scrambles patterns, whereas we’re wired to trust our instincts and popular culture lionizes those who follow breadcrumbs or crack codes. Stories are expected to have clear protagonists and antiheroes, follow arcs, impart lessons, or at least reach a satisfying conclusion. Investing is caked in inscrutabilities like cash flows that stretch into perpetuity. You don’t get the guy or gal at the end and there’s no sunset to walk off into. Again, this is when investing is working.
*In the market, there are no heroes or villains. The stock market's workings are purely business.*
There seems to be a morality narrative doing the rounds: GameStop buyers punish short sellers and the rally would also damage hedge funds, which held most of those short positions. (Read: Short selling is not for the faint hearted).
Not too long ago, short sellers were popular heroes. Remember The Big Short? Dr Michael Burry (Christian Bale) shorted collateralized mortgages in his hedge fund and Mark Baum’s character (Steve Carrell) was based on real-life investor Steve Eisman, who (yes) managed a hedge fund and (yes) shorted investments.
Neither The Big Short's portrayal of short-sellers as champions nor WSB's belief that they harm innocent parties can be justified. Burry and Eisman were not heroes. They were professionals who saw the chance to make an investment buck. That was their job, and not a particularly dangerous or noble occupation at that. They neither risked nor saved lives. Admittedly, their trades were financially hazardous--but so, too, is the launch of any local restaurant, which places the founder's capital at risk.
What's more, The Big Short's transactions only profited if homeowners failed. Those investments would languish unless mortgage defaults increased. Quite literally, for Burry and Eisman to be vindicated--that is, for audiences to cheer the success of the film's protagonists--residential homeowners needed to suffer.
Phrasing the matter that way--which is how GameStop's shareholders view the issue--makes short sellers sound depraved indeed. But plenty of long positions also profit from unhappiness. Pharmaceutical companies require medical conditions that need curing, as do hospitals and medical suppliers. For their part, insurers would not exist were there not natural disasters, thefts, and accidents to protect against. Is it unethical to own stock in such companies?
Whether their positions are short or long, investors are investors. And if short sellers sometimes exaggerate their target's shortcomings, so as well do those with long positions. Investment hype flies in both directions. (Elon Musk attacks short sellers but not those who predict grand achievements for his company.)
Nor should hedge funds be regarded as villains. It seems, the belief arises more from symbolism than from actual events. The problem is not crimes that hedge funds have committed--Overcharged their customers?
Underperformed the stock market?--but instead what they represent: Wall Street at its most privileged and coddled.
Neither the motives of WSB's readers nor their methods deserve criticism. If GameStop's buyers invested for personal reasons as well as pecuniary, that is their right. The stock market does not test investor intentions. Whether participants are motivated solely by the wish to make money or have other desires is immaterial. Those who bought GameStop were not nobler than those who had sold it short.
If those trades were legal, as with the GameStop purchase, it is nobody's fault if the market wobbles. If the regulators perceived a problem, then they can devise a solution to prevent its reoccurrence.

Discover Relief From Your Hip Pain
Tumblr media
As significant weight-bearing joints, our hips withstand a ton of mileage that can prompt agony and troubles getting around.
While some hip conditions — like a crack after a fall — require prompt consideration, others wait after some time, leaving you pondering when it's an ideal opportunity to see a specialist for treatment.
The hips, known as "ball and attachment" joints, are among the biggest joints in the body. The "attachment" is essential for the huge pelvis bone and the "ball" is the highest point of the femur (thigh bone). Muscles, tendons and ligaments settle the joint, and ligament secures and pads the bones, so they can move all the more without any problem.
In a solid hip, a limited quantity of liquid likewise greases up ligament and helps in development. At the point when any of these parts are messed up, hip torment sneaks in.
Conditions that lead to hip agony in grown-ups
To comprehend why it's essential to address hip torment, it's useful to realize what can cause hip agony in any case. These include:
Bone prods – When bone spikes create around your hip joints, they can cause agonizing erosion in your hip bones, and can keep them from moving easily.
Bursitis – When your bursae (little, jam like sacs situated in your hip joints) become disturbed and aroused, you may encounter torment.
Malignant growth – When bone disease influences your hips or malignant growth that began in another area of your body metastasizes to your hips, you can encounter hip agony.
Sinewy dysplasia – When scar-like tissue fills instead of solid bone, it regularly causes hip torment.
Cracks – When you experience a fall or blow, disease or stress wounds, or your hips are debilitated by osteoporosis, your hips are more defenseless to breaks.
Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid joint pain – When ligament in your joints erodes and gets frayed and harsh, it makes bone rub against bone. This condition is known as osteoarthritis. Rheumatoid joint inflammation causes aggravation and agony.
Osteonecrosis – When there is diminished blood stream to your joints, your bones can presently don't develop appropriately, and can separate.
Osteoporosis – When your bones become permeable and feeble, they can break all the more without any problem.
Injuries, strains, aroused ligaments – When your muscles, ligaments or tendons around your hips become extended or torn, you may encounter torment.
When would it be advisable for me to see a specialist?
With such an assortment of conditions – some persistent, some impermanent, some perilous – it's significant not to disregard hip torment.
Head to the trauma center on the off chance that you:
Experience serious agony
Fall
Notice growing or redness
See indications of disease, for example, fever or chills
In case you're encountering mellow torment, you should rest, use ice and warmth and assume control over-the-counter agony drugs for help. In the event that your hip torment doesn't disappear in a couple of days or is extreme, plan to see your essential consideration supplier.
How would I know whether I need a hip substitution?
While a horrible injury may require a hip substitution immediately, other degenerative joint conditions, for example, joint pain, require a watch-and-stand by approach. Be that as it may, ongoing torment, solidness and expanding from these conditions can ultimately be not kidding enough for specialists to suggest a hip substitution.
Most patients first attempt medicine and moderate techniques, quite an active recuperation. At the point when those measures don't resolve your agony or your torment meddles with your personal satisfaction, a hip substitution might be the following stage.
In case you're a possibility for hip substitution, a muscular expert can examine the kinds of hip substitution medical procedures at best orthopedic hospital in nagpur.

Weekend lockdown in several states amid rapid surge in Covid cases
Tumblr media
NEW DELHI/NAGPUR/KOLKATA: More high-risk areas were brought under lockdown on Saturday for varying periods, including weekends, by states in a bid to check the rapid rise in Covid-19 cases in India. Over a dozen states have so far opted for such selective lockdown citing the need to revive economic activities and at the same time reduce the risk of spread of infection, though Bihar and Manipur have imposed a state-wide shutdown from July 16 and July 23 respectively. In Madhya Pradesh, where Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to a hospital, a 10-day lockdown has been imposed in state capital Bhopal after a spike in cases. The state has been observing total shutdown on Sundays. A complete lockdown till Monday morning was imposed in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, which too has been enforcing shutdown every Sunday. Tamil Nadu on Saturday breached the grim milestone of two lakh coronavirus cases with the biggest daily spike of 6,988 fresh infections, pushing the tally to 2,06,737, according to state officials. While Uttar Pradesh observed another weekend lockdown, similar curbs were imposed for the second time this month in Uttarakhand’s four districts – Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts – which have reported 1,348 cases since July 18. All shops were shut and transport suspended in West Bengal as part of the twice-a-week lockdown in the state. Jammu went into a 60-hour lockdown from Friday 6pm, while a six-day complete lockdown has been imposed across the Kashmir Valley except Bandipora since Thursday. In its most recent update, the Union health ministry placed the total number of cases at 13,36,861 and the death toll at 31,358. Nearly 11.4 lakh cases have been reported in June-July alone when lockdown restrictions were eased. In worst-affected Maharashtra, where over 3.5 lakh cases have been recorded, civic authorities of Nagpur city announced a voluntary ‘janta curfew‘ on Saturday and Sunday, when only essential services will remain functional. The step has been taken to bring public awareness about behavioural change towards Covid-19 rules, but if these rules are not followed, then a strict curfew could be imposed in the city, Nagpur municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe warned. Chief minster Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said that he was not in favour of complete lifting of the coronavirus-induced curbs in the state only to address the economic concerns. Maharashtra too had imposed strict shutdown for varying periods in areas with high incidence of coronavirus infection including Pune. “I will never say that the lockdown will be lifted completely. But I have started reopening a few things gradually. Once reopened, it shouldn’t be shut again. Hence, I prefer taking steps in phases. You can’t just think about economy or health. There needs to be a balance between the two,” he said in an interview to Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’. From June onwards, the government had started lifting the restrictions in phase-wise manner under its ‘Mission Begin Again’ initiative. A complete lockdown was imposed in Nagaland capital Kohima till July 31, while it will come into effect in Dimapur from Sunday till August 2. The Meghalaya government too has announced a complete lockdown in Shillong agglomeration from July 26 to July 29. In Chhattisgarh, a seven-day lockdown has been enforced from Wednesday in municipal limits of Raipur and Birgaon, besides 20 other urban bodies. Normal life came to a grinding halt in West Bengal on Saturday as shops were shut and all modes of transport went off the roads as part of the state government’s plan to clamp restrictions two days a week. A similar lockdown will take place place next Wednesday. More than 3,800 people were arrested for flouting lockdown guidelines on Thursday when it was first imposed. Flight operations at the Kolkata airport were also suspended during the lockdown. Police patrolled all major traffic intersections in the metropolis to keep a check on people coming out on the streets. Barricades were also put up in various parts of the state to stop people from coming out of their homes, officials said. West Bengal has so far registered 53,973 Covid-19 cases and 1,290 deaths till Friday. Odisha had ordered a complete 14-day lockdown in five districts of Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur and Rourkela districts from July 17. According to the Union health ministry data updated on Saturday morning, Delhi has reported 1,28,389 cases, Karnataka 85,870, Andhra Pradesh 80,858, Uttar Pradesh 60,771, West Bengal 53,973, and Gujarat 53,545 cases. Karnataka has been enforcing a Sunday shutdown this month. A week-long lockdown in Bengaluru had ended on July 22. The number of Covid-19 cases has gone up to 52,466 in Telangana, 34,178 in Rajasthan, 33,926 in Bihar, 29,755 in Haryana, 29,921 in Assam and 26,210 in Madhya Pradesh. Odisha has reported 22,693 infections, Jammu and Kashmir 16,782, Kerala 16,995, and Punjab 12,216. India’s first case of coronavirus was reported on January 30, and on March 25 the country was put under a 21-day complete lockdown, which was then extended periodically.

Asia virus latest: Bangkok hospitals protect babies with face shields
SINGAPORE: Here are the latest developments in Asia related to the novel coronavirus pandemic:
- Bangkok hospitals protect babies with face shields -
Fast asleep, swaddled in a towel and snug in a pink beanie, a baby born during a pandemic in a Thai hospital needs one last item to ensure its health -- a face shield.
Bangkok hospitals are using them on newborns in their maternity wards to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
- Taiwan reports no new infections -
Taiwan reported no new infections, the first time the daily tally has been zero in 36 days.
The island was hit early by the coronavirus but managed to keep initial infections low and stop the disease spreading locally.
Taiwan also suffered a second wave of cases -- but the latest figures offer hope that authorities have managed to bring it under control.
- Bali surfers in hot water -
More than a dozen foreign surfers on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali were given warnings by authorities after breaking virus rules by hitting the waves on closed beaches.
Meanwhile, some other foreigners were pilloried online after photos of a group of them partying on the island went viral on social media.
- India nationwide lockdown extended -
India's nationwide lockdown, the biggest imposed in the world over the coronavirus pandemic, will be extended until at least May 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.
The current three-week-old lockdown of the nation of 1.3 billion people had been scheduled to end at midnight Tuesday.
"From the economic angle, we have paid a big price," Modi said in a nationwide address. "But the lives of the people of India are far more valuable."
- Asean leaders meet online -
Vietnam and Thailand will urge Southeast Asian leaders to set up an emergency fund to tackle the coronavirus at a summit held online, as the pandemic ravages the region's tourism and export-reliant economies.
Hanoi is chairing an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) meeting on Covid-19, with the country touting its success so far in containing the virus with extensive quarantines and social distancing.
Singapore allows teachers to use Zoom again -
The city-state is allowing teachers to resume using Zoom, the video-conferencing platform said, following its suspension for online lessons last week after gatecrashers interrupted a class and made lewd comments.
Zoom -- which has exploded in popularity but faces growing security concerns -- said it had taken steps to address the education ministry's concerns, including giving officials control over teacher accounts.
Singapore meanwhile reported 386 new coronavirus cases, its biggest increase in a single day, as the city-state battles a growing second wave of infections.
- Australia, New Zealand flatten virus curve but keep lockdowns intact -
Australia and New Zealand brushed aside calls for an easing of tough restrictions on travel and public gatherings despite their success in curbing the spread of Covid-19.
The number of new coronavirus cases in the neighbouring nations has fallen dramatically in the last two weeks, raising hopes that difficult social distancing measures may be relaxed.
Tasmania, meanwhile, ordered an investigation into reports of an "illegal" dinner party attended by medical workers that caused an outbreak of COVID-19 and forced two hospitals in the Australian island state to close.- Markets rise on China trade data -
Asian markets posted gains as better than expected Chinese trade data suggested a rebound from the economic devastation wrought by the coronavirus pandemic.
- China reports more imported cases -
China reported 89 new coronavirus infections, 86 of which were imported from overseas.
The country where the virus emerged last year has largely brought its domestic outbreak under control, but faces a growing second wave of infections brought in from overseas by returning nationals.
- World's smallest woman in India stay-at-home virus appeal -
The world's shortest woman took to the streets in central India to call on people to stay at home, after police appealed for help enforcing a coronavirus lockdown.
Jyoti Amge, who is just 62.8 centimetres tall (just over two feet tall), encouraged people to wash their hands and wear a mask and gloves when they leave their homes as she made appearances across Nagpur city, in Maharashtra state.

A brief history of the Tata Group
In this article, Amann Naqvi pursuing Diploma in Entrepreneurship Administration and Business Laws from NUJS, Kolkata discusses the need for stronger regulations in the automated and electronic trading market in India.
A critical review of the history of Tata group
Tata group was established in 1868, after more than half a century it has become one of the largest industrial empires of the world in various businesses:
Hospitality
Automobiles
Steel
Retail, and
Jewellery etc.
Tata group is a huge conglomerate including hundreds of businesses, hence in the following article I have given a brief introduction of the Tata group:
How it came into form, and
Critically review the history of the Group through its recent acquisitions and the legal battles it has faced recently.
The Visionary
Founder of Tata is Jamshetji Tata in 1868, and latter on it gained international recognition throughout the world after it bought several multinational companies. Today Tata is one of the world’s biggest companies with a combined market capitalization of 12 billion dollars.
Father of Jamshetji owned a banking firm where Jamsetji gradually grew from apprentice to a skillful practitioner of the business arts under the tutelage of his father, and gain the knowledge about:
Commodities
Markets
Trading
Banking
Before he started his own trading firm,
He invested a capital of Rs21,000.
Cotton mill
In 1869 Tata moved into textiles, in Chinchpokli he acquired bankrupt oil mill in the industrial heart of Bombay, later on the property was converted into the cotton mill and renamed as Alexandra Mill. Two years later, he sold the mill for a significant profit to a local cotton merchant.
Weaving and Manufacturing Company
In 1874, a new venture was started by Jamsetji, the Central India Spinning which was a weaving and manufacturing company in Nagpur. He invested a capital of INR 1,50,000/- in Central India Spinning.
Express mills
After three years, the Empress Mills came to be established in Nagpur. This can be considered as the main foundation of the Tata group as after this there was no looking back for the company which would go on to be valued at billions of dollars.
The period following the foundation of Empress Mills witnessed a turn in Jamshetjis life, it came up to be one of his biggest and most bustling projects.
From around 1880 to his death in 1904, Jamsetji was devoured by his three extraordinary thoughts for India:
Setting up an iron and steel organization,
Producing hydroelectric power, and
Making a world-class instructive establishment that would mentor Indians in the sciences.
All of them came to be true but only after his demise. One dream which came true for him was India to have a world-class hotel.
In 1898 Jamshetji Tata opened a Hotel Taj in Mumbai, it was the first hotel of such standard in India and laid a foundation of a multimillionaire venture known to be as Taj Group of hotels. The first of its kind, with German fans and English butlers.
Tata Steel
Ratan Tata (son of Jamshetji) established Tata Iron and Steel Company on August 26, 1907, and fulfilled the dream of Jamshedji [1]. By 1939 it operated the largest steel plant in the British Empire.
The program was upgraded to 2 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) project and after a decade, the company employed around 40,000 people at Jamshedpur, and 20,000 in the neighboring coal mines in 1958.
In 1971 and 1979, there were unsuccessful attempts to nationalize the company.[2]
In 1990, it started expansion plan and established its subsidiary Tata Inc. in New York.
In 2005 the company changed its name from TISCO to Tata Steel. [3]
Acquisitions Made by Tata Steel
Tata Steel was one of the biggest producers of steel in India after SAIL. Till the earlier 21st century it was not on the top positions in the world of steel in terms of production around the world.
The year 2004 and 2005 saw some of the biggest acquisitions made by Tata steel in its history of 100 years.
It acquired NATSTEEL of Singapore and Millennium Steel of Thailand, both of them are now subsidiaries of Tata.
The biggest acquisition by Tata was made on 31 January 2007, it won their bid from CSN for Corus after offering 608 pence per share, valuing Corus at £6.7 billion ($12 billion).
Corus was 4 times larger than Tata steel at the time of acquisition but after it acquired the steel giant, it came on 5th position from the 56th position in the world of steel in terms of production and hence making its mark on the world map of steel.
As on 31 March 2013, Tata Group held 31.35% shares in Tata Steel.
An announcement of a plane by ThyssenKrupp in Germany and Tata Steel, to combined their European steelmaking businesses which would further structure assets as Thyssenkrupp Tata Steel, an equal partnership joint venture. The announcement estimated that the company would be Europe’s second-largest steelmaker in September 2017.[4]
Tata-Docomo conflict
In 2009 Japan telecom giant DOCOMO acquired the 26.5% stake in Tata Teleservices. This was the first time Tata was venturing into telecom services, it was a great collaboration for both the companies but the collaboration did not last.
In mid-2009, finishing right around a year and half of transactions, DOCOMO put $2.7 billion in wireless business, Teleservices (TTSL) on the understanding that if certain targets weren’t met in the next five years, the Tata would either discover a purchaser for the Japanese organization’s 26.5% stake at equitable esteem, or pay 50% portion of the first venture, whichever was higher. Those targets were:
number of supporters and towers,
money related breakthroughs like
EBITDA, and
Benefits
It came as a shock to both the companies when Tata fared badly in the next five years and could not even earn half of the profits expected.
By then, RBI had framed new rules that banned the exit by a foreign equity investor at an assured price. But this time the RBI also wanted to make an exception as it was the question of honoring a contract by an Indian company
When DOCOMO submitted an exit proposal in 2014 to end its collaboration with Tata TeleService, subsidiary of Tata Sons and hence started a legal battle between the two companies. Telecom went to arbitration in the UK where it got the award in its favor. On June 24, DOCOMO won the ruling that ordered Tata Sons to pay it $1.3 billion to buy its stake in the mobile phone joint venture, Tata Teleservices.
Japan’s largest telecom operator said in a statement the award was for Tata Sons’ breach of their shareholder’s agreement after it was denied exit of the loss-making Tata Teleservices at a pre-agreed price of half the original $2.7 .billion investment.
After Tata had faced serious financial issues because of its telecom venture it finally decided to exit from the telecom field hence selling it to Airtel at throw away price. DOCOMO approached the Delhi High Court for the enforcement of its award.
If we review Tata’s performance in the telecom venture, we can see the biggest failures in the company’s long history of more than a century.
Cyrus Mistry could have put strict allegations of handling the Tata-DOCOMO collaboration on his own or without the knowledge of Tata Sons board. Though Cyrus Mistry has continuously denied such allegations.
Tata v. Mistry (Conversion to a Private Limited Company)
Tata Sons were registered as a private limited company in 1917. After the Companies Act 1956 it was termed as a deemed public holding company with articles remaining unchanged.
Last year a general board meeting of Tata Sons was held where the majority has contended that now the conversion of Tata Sons should take place from being a public holding company to a private limited company.
The application has been filed at NCLAT. NCLAT may not give the ruling in its favor or it may not allow the conversion from a public company to a private limited company, if the conversion is not in the interest of the company.
Also, the Mistrys have written to the group against the conversion.
Conclusion
By the end of the review, the author feels Tata has had a rollercoaster ride throughout, from successful mergers, witnessing failed collaborations to losing bitter legal battles Tata has seen it all, with now the original chairman being back all we can do is hope for a better future for the Tata group. Also if the company now becomes Pvt Ltd. Again it would be in favor of the Tata’s but can go against the Mistry family as it would be allotted shared discriminately.

Coronavirus Outbreak in India LATEST Updates
Modi to launch COVID-19 testing facilities in Kolkata, Mumbai and Noida
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching "high throughput" COVID-19 testing facilities in Kolkata, Mumbai and Noida at 4.30 pm today. This will help ramp-up India’s testing capacity and strengthen early detection and treatment in the country, the Prime Minister's Office said.
Coronavirus LATEST Updates: India registered 97,577 new cases in the past two days. On Saturday, India registered 48,916 COVID-19 infections in a single day, while on Sunday, the case count mounted to 13,85,522 with 48,661 people testing positive for the disease.
As India's coronavirus case count mounted to 13,85,522 on Sunday with 48,661 people testing positive for the disease, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned against displaying any laxity in following precautionary measures, saying that the virus remained as fatal as it was at the beginning of the pandemic.
Several states, including Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, saw a spurt in daily cases while southern states, with the exception of Karnataka, recorded a marginal dip in fresh infections.
In the northeast, Sikkim extended the complete lockdown till 31 August, hours after the state reported its first COVID-19 fatality. Restrictions were also extended in Jammu and Kashmir's Bhaderwah town after 14 more cases surfaced there.
Tamil Nadu came to a virtual standstill on the last Sunday lockdown this month, with only milk supply and health care services remaining operational in the state. A similar situation prevailed in Maharashtra's Nagpur where a 'Janata curfew' elicited a good response on its last day.
Modi stresses on exercising caution
In his Mann ki Baat radio address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the importance of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
"At many places, the virus is spreading fast. We need to be extra vigilant. We have to bear in mind that the virus is as fatal today as it was in the beginning. Which is why we have to be cautious," Modi said.
Modi also advised those feeling uncomfortable while wearing masks to remember the burden and sacrifice of those in the front lines of the battle against the virus.
India reports 48,661 new cases, 705 deaths
The data updated by the Union health ministry in the morning showed that the cumulative total of coronavirus cases in the country grew to 13,85,522 with 48,661 fresh cases reported since Saturday morning. The country's toll rose to 32,063 with 705 fatalities being recorded in a day, the data updated at 8 am showed.
According to news agency PTI, this is the fourth consecutive day when COVID-19 cases have increased by more than 45,000.
Of the 705 deaths reported, 257 were from Maharashtra, 89 from Tamil Nadu, 72 from Karnataka, 52 from Andhra Pradesh, 42 from West Bengal, 39 from Uttar Pradesh, 29 from Delhi, 22 from Gujarat, 14 from Bihar, 12 from Jharkhand, 11 from Rajasthan and 10 from Odisha.
Of the total 32,063 deaths reported so far, Maharashtra accounts for 13,389 fatalities, followed by Delhi 3,806, Tamil Nadu 3,409 Gujarat 2,300, Karnataka 1,796, Uttar Pradesh 1,387, West Bengal 1,332, Andhra Pradesh 985 and Madhya Pradesh 799.

Recovery rate rises to 63.92%
As many as 36,145 patients have recuperated from the novel coronavirus infection in a span of 24 hours, the highest recorded in a day, pushing the recovery rate to 63.92 percent, the ministry said on Sunday. The number of recoveries exceed active coronavirus infections by 4,17,694."Recovered cases are 1.89 times the active cases," the ministry said, adding that the case fatality rate has further dropped to 2.31 percent
The total number of tests for detection of COVID-19 has crossed the 16 million-mark in the country, it said. According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 1,62,91,331 samples have been tested till 25 July with 4,42,263 samples being tested on Saturday.
National Task Force decides to exclude Itolizumab from treatment protocols
In another development,  the National Task Force on COVID-19 decided against including Itolizumab drug in clinical management protocols for treating the disease even though the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved its "restricted emergency use" in infected patients, official sources told PTI.
Itolizumab, an already approved drug of Biocon, used for treating psoriasis — a skin condition — was approved for "restricted emergency use" in 'moderate' to 'severe' Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome patients with COVID-19.
The drug was left out of the clinical management protocols as there was not enough evidence, said the sources. However, a Biocon spokesperson said that nearly 1,000 persons have used the drug with good outcome. "The National Covid Task Force needs to see more evidence and we will provide them large real-world data to enable the committee to reconsider its decision on inclusion of Itolizumab in the protocol," he said.
COVID-19 deaths decline in National Capital, claims Delhi govt
The national capital has recorded a 44 percent decline in the number of COVID-19 deaths in early July as compared to early June, the Delhi government said. The city recorded 605 deaths due to the viral disease between 1 and 12 July as against 1,089 fatalities during the same period in June, according to an analysis carried out by the Health Department.
The Delhi government's COVID-19 hospitals saw a 58 percent reduction in deaths from 361 in early June to 154 in early July, it said. Central government COVID-19 hospitals saw a 55 percent reduction in number of deaths, while private COVID hospitals witnessed a 25 percent decline.
Delhi recorded 1,075 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, pushing the city's caseload to over 1.30 lakh, while the toll mounted to 3,827 with 21 deaths.
Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat report record increase in cases
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh reported their highest single-day addition in coronavirus cases. Madhya Pradesh saw its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases as 874 people tested positive for the infection, including 205 in capital Bhopal, taking the state's count to 27,800. The toll rose by 12 during the day to reach 811.
Gujarat reported as many as 1,110 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total count to 55,822 while 21 patients died, including 12 in Surat, the state health department said. The cumulative toll in the state now stands at 2,326. However, the recovery rate also improved to 72.31 percent, with 753 patients being discharged during the day.
Uttar Pradesh recorded its biggest single-day surge of 3,260 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the state's total to 66,988. As many as 39 more people died due to COVID-19 in the state, pushing the toll to 1,426, a bulletin said.
Karnataka too witnessed a record increase of 5,199 new cases, taking the aggregate in the state to 96,141, while 82 succumbed to the virus and the toll rose to 1,878, the health department said. Bengaluru urban continued to record highest number of deaths. The city has seen 891 deaths so far including 29 on Sunday.
Minor decline in new cases in southern states
However, the rest of the southern states with high daily caseloads — Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh — saw minor dips compared to the previous days.  Kerala, with 927 cases on 26 July, saw a marginal decline against the infections reported on Saturday, at 1,103.
Andhra Pradesh also witnessed a minor dip on Sunday when compared to the infected persons on Saturday or Friday, but the state still reported cases in excess of 7,000 for the third day. The state's daily cases stood at 7,627 on Sunday while it recorded 7,813 cases yesterday.
Telangana reported over 1,500 cases, taking the tally past 54,000, with a majority of the infections coming from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
Sunday lockdown observed in Tamil Nadu
With 6,986, Tamil Nadu reported only two cases lesser than on Saturday, even as the state observed a strict Sunday lockdown. The roads wore a deserted look as people stayed indoors in keeping with lockdown curbs. Health care services were open, sanitary workers continued their clean up work, and personnel of civic bodies conducted door-to-door surveys to find people with flu-like symptoms and fever camps were also held.
Shops selling essential commodities, fuel pumps and markets were closed as part of measures to help fight COVID- 19 while most vehicles also stayed off the roads.
Similar scenes were observed in Maharashtra's Nagpur city where markets stayed shut and people remained indoors under the Janata curfew. Over 3,000 police personnel were deployed to enforce the curfew, officials said.
An eight-day total lockdown began in Dimapur, the commercial hub of Nagaland, from Sunday to stem the spread of COVID-19. Streets were empty and shops remained closed. A few pharmacies and hospitals were open in some localities to cater to people in medical emergencies.
Government offices, banks and medical clinics that are exempted from the purview of the lockdown remained closed on Sunday.
Sikkim extends lockdown
The Sikkim government extended the statewide lockdown, scheduled to end on Sunday, till 1 August "After careful consideration of the situation, it has been decided to extend the period of lockdown in the entire state of Sikkim till 6 am of 1 August, 2020," a notification issued by Chief Secretary S C Gupta said.
The state reported its first COVID-19 death on Sunday after a 74-year-old man succumbed to the disease at a state-run hospital. Sikkim has 357 active cases of COVID-19, while the total cases stand at 499.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration also extended a complete lockdown imposed in Bhaderwah town of Doda district to arrest the spread of COVID-19. The restrictions will be in place till further orders to make way for a smooth contact-tracing and sampling exercise of the fresh cases, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bhaderwah, Adil Rishu said.
The curbs in Bhaderwah were initially imposed on 21 July after 30 positive cases of COVID-19 were detected in Doda. This is the third time that the lockdown has been extended.
"We have extended the complete lockdown till further orders after 14 more persons were found coronavirus positive. Contact-tracing and sampling of them is still going on and will take sometime," Rishu said, adding that the situation will be reviewed on Monday. No relaxation will be granted even for medical shops, he said.

New Delhi: A 10,000-bed makeshift facility coming up at Chhatarpur in South Delhi to tackle the capital’s surging Covid-19 cases will be fully operational by the month-end. It will receive paramilitary assistance and source doctors and health professionals from other states, officials told ET.The structure, a multi-bed facility under a metal tent at the Radha Soami Satsang Beas campus, will be the biggest facility of its kind, a senior official said. It will be 1,700 feet long and 700 feet wide with 200 enclosures having 50 beds each, the official added. On Sunday, Delhi’s LG Anil Baijal and a group of government officials visited the campus to take stock of the arrangement.South Delhi district magistrate BM Mishra said the facility will be functional in the next few days. The details of logistics were being worked out, he said. Setting up of enclosures and laying out a polyvinyl flooring for easier mopping and disinfection has already begun, he added. Four-lakh devotees used to participate in meditation sessions at a time on the campus, a Satsang volunteer said. He said Baijal approached the organisation after its head Gurinder Singh Dhillon told PM Modi last month that all its centres will be available to the government for Covid-19 care. The group has two such facilities in Maharashtra in Mumbai and Nagpur but they are much smaller in size, he added. Apart from allowing stranded migrants to use its over 250 ashrams, the Satsang let the Punjab government use its facilities as shelter and isolation camps and for storage of wheat. When asked how people will reach the facility during a medical emergency, another official said arrangements were being made to ensure ambulance connectivity from major hospitals. He said the paramilitary was being approached to get the facility up and running soon, while seeking AIIMS’ medical expertise. “According to an estimate, we would need 400 doctors and 800 paramedical professionals. We are exploring options to recruit them from the open market. A building next to the facility will house the professionals coming from other states. We are also approaching state governments to see what they can do,” an official said. Delhi’s health department has projected that Covid-19 cases could rise to 1 lakh by the month-end and exceed the 5-lakh-mark by July-end. Over the last two months, States such as Kerala and Maharashtra have built makeshift hospitals for Covid-19 patients. from Economic Times https://ift.tt/2XZsK19

UK coronavirus death toll hits 18,100 as peak nears

UK coronavirus death toll hits 18,100 as peak nears
UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on Wednesday said Britain is making some progress through the “peak” of the coronavirus pandemic crisis as the country’s death toll from Covid-19 hit 18,100 – a daily rise of 759.
Raab, the First Secretary of State who is standing in for Prime Minister Boris Johnson as he recuperates after testing positive for coronavirus, said during the daily Downing Street briefing that the UK’s strict social distancing rules were making a difference and saving lives.
“It has been a mental strain on people. We are making progress through the peak of this virus but we are not out of the woods yet,” said Raab, as he stressed that the biggest risk remains of a so-called “second peak” if the lockdown is eased ahead of time.
“There is a light at the end of the tunnel, there is certainly a glimmer but we are not there yet,” he said.
He reiterated the five preconditions previously set by the government before any lifting of social distancing measures can be considered – protecting the National Health Service’s ability to cope; a sustained and consistent fall in the daily death rates; reliable data showing that the rate of infection is decreasing; confidence that the range of operational challenges such as testing are in hand; and confidence that any adjustments to the current measures will not risk a second peak of infections.
The minister was joined at the daily briefing by General Sir Nick Carter, Chief of the UK Defence Staff, who spoke about the logistical support provided by the armed forces to the Department of Health and NHS.
“In all of my more than 40 years of service this is the single greatest logistic challenge that I have come across,” he said, adding that in just 25 days, his officers have helped the NHS deliver to nearly 50,000 customers – that figure was previously 250.
They have also created 260,000 square feet of distribution warehousing – nearly four football fields worth.
“People used to joke in this country you couldn’t build a hospital that quickly [as China], well we didn’t just build one, we built seven and we thank our armed forces for helping to make that happen,” said Raab, in reference to new makeshift hospitals built on conference centre sites around the UK.
“The sight of our armed forces working with NHS staff offers a calm reassurance to the British public,” he added.

A Family Floater health plan is identical to that of an individual health plan, the only difference is that it is expanded to include the whole family. A Family Floater Plan acts as a coverage shield for the entire family, and hence the term.
For example : If you buy a family floater plan with Rs 5 lakh as sum assured, for four members of your family. All four people put together can spend a maximum of Rs.5 Lakhs in one year. If one of your family members uses Rs 3 lakh of the sum insured then only Rs 2 lakh would be left for the rest of the family to use in one policy year.
Health insurance policies typically protect people, partners and babies. Some insurance companies do, however, have provision for covering dependent spouses, siblings, and spouses in statute.

How to select the best Health Insurance Plan for Family?
When it comes to health insurance, you can not rely on any one-size-fits-all package. Health Insurance is a scheme focused on a contract with legal jargon thrown into it. A Health Care program includes medical terminologies in addition to this. You can find that each of the various Health insurance policies on the market is unique in some way or the other, with its own advantages and limitations.
However, below are some of the important factors that you can keep in mind before buying a family floater health insurance plan.
 Premium:
Insurance premium is usually the first thing most of us determine when buying an insurance policy. A family floater package offers health care at a reduced cost to the entire family compared to individual Mediclaims.
 Co-Pay clause:
Co-payment means that the policyholder must bear a specified portion of the value of the claim. Of instance, the policyholder must bear 20 per cent of the cost in an 80 per cent -20 per cent provision and the remaining amount (80 per cent) may be asserted.
 Sub-limits:
Health insurance providers can prescribe restrictions for certain diseases or treatments. For example: the policyholder may only demand Rs 20,000 for a cataract operation, but Rs3 Lakhs may be the policy amount guaranteed. Sub-limited plans are better but can charge higher premiums.
 Waiting period for Pre-existing diseases:
You need to check whether the policy protects current illnesses. All current diseases can be protected in some plans, and in others, the policy holder has to wait a few years before making a claim.
 Alternative Treatments :
Some policies also cover non-allopathic or alternative treatments such as homeopathic, ayurvedic etc.
Waiting period for specific diseases.
Disease wise capping (if any).
Definition of family i.e., who and all can be included in a Family Floater plan with the insurance cover.
Check if any of the (or) all day-care procedures are covered?
Find out if any complimentary free-health check-ups are allowed?
 Maximum Renewal age:
This criteria specifies up to what point the policy should be renewed. Find out whether or not life-long renewal is permitted.
 No claim bonus:
Those are benefits the organization offers in the event of a claim-free year. It varies from company to business.
Check out the list of ‘exclusions’ provided in ‘Product brochure’ or consult the customer care of the concerned insurance company.
 Claim Settlement Record :
Given the complexity of the product it is important to settle claims. Nevertheless, the data available in the public domain isn’t user friendly, so it’s necessary to use it in your evaluation. (Incurred Percentage of claims from some of the biggest health insurance companies.)
 Restoration of Sum Assured :
Make sure you have ‘restoration value’ in your health insurance. For eg, you have a floater plan with a Amount Insured of Rs. 4 lakhs, and your spouse gets sick, and all the coverage is eaten. When, sadly, another member of your family gets hospitalized later in the same policy year, this feature will help you recover your Sum Insured in this case.
