May Binges
I’m a little delayed on last month’s blog... partially because life has sucker punched me, but mainly because i was out of town for most weekends of the month and worked like crazy. Hope anyone reading this enjoys my May recap:)
1. Chambers
This was actually one of the first shows i finished in an entire day. I started at about 8am on a Sunday and finished around... I wanna say 5pm? It was THAT good. It’s about a girl named Sasha who has a total freak accident in which she needs to have a heart transplant. She starts getting “visions” (think the movie The Eye with Jessica Alba) in which she is pushed to figure out how exactly her donor died. This show has everything from cults, family, auras, and culture. To make things even more interesting, it is based in Arizona. It’s thrilling and refreshing. Available to stream on Netflix.

2. Claws
This was one show that kept popping up either on my IG or whenever i was scrolling through Hulu. I am so happy i started watching it! It’s about a nail salon owner, Desna, who is involved in money laundering through her shop. She does it all to take care of her brother, Dean, who is on the autism spectrum and since they were both orphans, it’s the only way she is able to maintain steady income. That’s really what captivated me, the fact that this is all around her taking care of her brother. I always judged this show to be another one of those tacky drug dealing shows but NOPE, it proved me wrong. It honestly has a tasteful plot and is entertaining the entire time. Seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Hulu.

3. Easy
Ugh! If you’re looking for a show that is totally relatable... THIS IS IT! The story line is interesting as it follows a different couple each episode and shows them going through everyday obstacles (that you probably thought only you go through). It’s such a feel good show and a little (emphasis on that little.. lol) NSFW if you know what i mean. Seasons 1-3 available to stream on Netflix.
Tumblr media
4. Game of Thrones (Season 8)
Okay..... not my favorite season, such a shame that it’s ended. But here’s my brief review: Episode 3 was the shit, the rest were.... eh. Cersei and Danny deserved better. I just really wished is was more dramatic. Hopefully the spin offs will give us what we wanted.
Tumblr media
I’m still wrapping up on a few other shows/movies. I do this thing where i don’t like to blog about it unless the show really captivated me. So more to come for my June post! Thanks for reading:)

April Binges
Shows:
1. The Case Against Adnan Syed
This is one of those documentaries that really rocks your world. It shows the life of Adnan Seyd who was a senior in high school. He was very religious, close with his family, played almost all sports, had good grades and was even prom king. He was convicted in 2000 to life in prison plus 30 years for Hae Min Lee’s death, which occurred in 1999. With no hard evidence, the justice system really failed him. This documentary is available on HBO Now.
Tumblr media
2. Imposters
This series SCREAMS entertainment! One random Sunday I decided to start watching this show and honestly, I’m so happy I did. Con-artists, humor and a really good looking cast. It’ll keep you on your toes the entire time! Available to stream on Netflix. Show by Bravo.
Tumblr media
3. Santa Clarita Diet
Ok... I know I talked about SCD in a previous post, but I hadn’t finished it until a couple days ago and... I am in LOVE! Obviously, we are all obsessed with Drew Barrymore, but the entire cast is just so compatible and sweet. Can “zom-body” please give us a season 3?! Available to stream on Netflix.

Movies:
1. Someone Great
I assumed I was going to love this film simply because of Gina Rodriguez, but as soon as this the beginning credits rolled and “Int'l Players Anthem” started playing I WAS LIKE WHOA. Feel good movie times 10! Three best friends must stick by each other’s sides while each of them face difficulties with their relationships. It’s hilarious, touching and SO relatable. Available to stream on Netflix.
Tumblr media
2. Homecoming
SHE DID THAT. She mentions that she wanted to give everyone the full experience not just something to watch. SHE DID THAT! Available to stream on Netflix.
Tumblr media
3. The Perfect Date
Noah Centineo makes us fall in love with each and every character he plays. This movie is witty, sweet and funny. Must watch! Available on Netflix.
Tumblr media
On a side note...
I am currently watching Jane the Virgin, Game of Thrones, The Act, The Voice and will be watching Infinity War: End Game this weekend. I’ll more than likely include them in my May binges or touch base on them a little bit until I finish the entire series. I hope you enjoy these shows / movies as they’ve made my hectic month of April a little more enjoyable :)

March Binges
1. On My Block (Season 2)
While Season 1 left us on the biggest cliffhanger ever, Season 2 delivered! It answered many questions that were left unanswered in the first season but kept it’s witty humor. This show opens our eyes to real struggles in neighborhoods and what violence they have to deal with. Season 2 also went into depth with each character and makes us fall in love with each of them all over again. Jasmine and Jamal are definitely my favorites in this season. If you still haven’t watched this series.. C’mon now...
Tumblr media
2. Good Trouble
Talk about a show I never knew I needed! In all honesty, I thought I would have a hard time keeping up with this show as I’ve never (ever) watched The Fosters but trust me - you can still watch it without any background. This show follows two sisters, Marianna and Callie, who move out to LA for their dream jobs. One works for a judge and the other as a software engineer. The move into a building that is shared with about 8 others who are also following their dreams in LA. This show gives you everything you need, from relationships, career advice and even touches on subjects as racism and equality. Available to stream on Hulu.
Tumblr media
3. The Act
Talk about a disturbing true story. This show is about a mother (Dee Dee) and her daughter (Gypsy Rose). If you’re not familiar with this story, Dee Dee made up multiple health issues that her daughter Gypsy did not actually have. She fed lies into her head to keep her from ever leaving her side but then Gypsy finally discovers the truth. This series is intriguing but yet so disturbing, in all honesty it’s pretty hard to swallow at times. The only downfall on Hulu’s end is that the entire series isn’t available to stream as you have to wait for a new episode every Wednesday (lame).
Tumblr media
4. Jane The Virgin
Only one episode in and WOW. How is this serious the last season?! Jane is a lot more mature with deciding what’s best for her and her family and having to adapt to change after change. Excited to see what else this season has in store for us. #TeamRafael4Life
Tumblr media
5. Santa Clarita Diet
This show is non-stop humor, if you can get past watching Drew Barrymore eat human flesh. I know, sounds gross but this show is hilarious. Season 3 touches on coming up with a new plan, cult following and Mr. Ball Legs. Do yourself the favor, yeah?
Tumblr media
6. Workin' Moms
This is a series I wasn’t too sure about starting but I’m really glad I gave it a try. It follows a hand full of different women and how they’re adapting to becoming new mothers and going back to work. They struggle with often having to choose their jobs over being at home with their children. It shows the reality of it all but adds some humor to it. Would definitely recommend!
Tumblr media
7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
I know.. I know. How have I never watched this? Think The Office meets Parks and Rec and a little bit of Workaholics. Guaranteed to make you laugh!
Tumblr media
March “Movie” Madness:
1. Captain Marvel
OK - this is definitely at the top of the list for origin movies. This 2 and a half long movie was never boring and I not once looked at the time! To be completely honest, I was hesitate to watch this as I wasn’t sure how this would tie her into Infinity War but OMG, this movie explains it all! Be sure to stay for the end credits ;)
Tumblr media
2. Us
I’m sure you’ve seen at least the preview of this movie. If not, think evil doppelgänger who has all the characteristics you have, but uses them in ways you never would. It’s hard to explain, in all honesty, I’m still trying to wrap my head around this movie. You can interpret it in about 20 different ways. I guess that’s Jordan Peele’s whole point of it - not everyone is supposed to get the same emotional feeling from it.
Tumblr media
3. Enemy
SPEAKING of EVIL doppelgänger... let me introduce the movie Enemy to you. Jake Gyllenhaal (yum) plays a history professor who has fallen into routine of life. One day he is simply watching a rental movie and he finds a man who looks exactly like him. He researches and finds the man, who is an actor and the complete opposite of who he is. They even sound the same! They both become obsessed and then the ending. WHAT AN ENDING. Definitely recommend! Available to stream on Netflix.
Tumblr media
4. Triple Frontier
This movie follows 5 fellow friends who were in the military and take on a job where they can capture a wanted man without help from law enforcement so they can keep the hidden money all to themselves. They work as a team but learn quickly that greed changes people quickly. I appreciate a great action packed film, you won’t regret this one! Available to stream on Netflix.
Tumblr media
7. Like Father
Imagine being walked out on, on your wedding day. AT THE ALTAR. Then somehow inviting your father who you haven’t seen since you were 5 to your honeymoon? Oh yeah, this movie went there! It honestly hits home, as it shows a father and daughter’s rocky relationship and what they’re willing to do to reconcile it. It’s sweet, funny and will make you laugh while crying. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this gem. Available to stream on Netflix.

1. The Umbrella Academy
OMG. When i say this is one of my favorite shows of all time, i really mean it. 7 siblings must come together to stop the Apocalypse. This series is witty, action packed and it is everything i wish X-Men could be. The casting is spot on (with the exception of Vanya) and just proves what we already know, Netflix Original Series’ cannot be topped. Did i mention it has the best soundtrack?!
“Alexa, play I Think We’re Alone Now”
Tumblr media
2. The Masked Singer (Hulu)
this is one of those guilty pleasure shows. Celebrities are masked - the panel and audience have to guess who is under their disguise. I know, sounds corny, but i found it uplifting and motivating.
Tumblr media
3. Dating Around
this series was a little difficult for me to wrap my head around. My first impression with the beginning of the series had me a tad bit confused. It was entertaining (mainly awkward) to watch, but it does give an insight to what dating is like now a days. It’s also pretty funny (because it’s so awkward), so i’ll give it that. Not Netflix’s best work but hey.... can’t win them all!
Tumblr media
4. Unsolved
i’m aiming to finish this series by the end of tomorrow evening (currently on episode 4) but this gives an insight of the infamous murders of both Tupac and Biggie Smalls. We all *think* we know the story but this show goes into depth of their deaths and the investigation on them. It has been 20+ years since both of their deaths and no one has been convicted of their murders? Really makes you think...
Tumblr media
Movie of the Month: I Love You, Man (2009)
Disclaimer: i’m really not sure how i’ve never seen this movie before as i’m a big fan of Paul Rudd and Jason Segel but it’s exactly what you think it would be. HILARIOUS! *slappin’ the bass*
Tumblr media
I’m excited for all that March has in store for us to watch! Shows AND movies!
