Why Are Agility & Sports-Specific Exercises Important?
Agility and Sports-Specific Exercises aid in the development of improved quickness and speed required for your return to sport. Every sport is different, so it is always best to seek the advice of your sports physiotherapist for the most effective and appropriate exercise prescription. Always precede agility exercises with a warm-up and flexibility program. All exercises should be performed with intensity and perfect body mechanics (i.e. upright posture, deep core activation, and biomechanical correction). Always allow for adequate recovery time between sessions. More information:

Biomechanical Anaylsis Can Help Prevent You From Injuries!
Biomechanics is the study of human motion. The study of biomechanics is important when determining what causes injuries and therefore how we can prevent them re-occurring. This is especially important in elite athletes but can be a major cause in recurrent injuries in the less gifted amateur athlete. Biomechanical analysis can involve:
gait analysis - study of your walking pattern.
running analysis - study of your running style.
video analysis or motion capture analysis.
sports biomechanics - sport specific analysis.
workplace analysis - study of how you do you job.
biomechanics of running, sprinting, swimming, throwing etc.
For more advice regarding biomechanics analysis, please consult with your physiotherapist.

Sports-Specific Exercises & Agility Are Important Post Injury!
Agility and Sports-Specific Exercises aid in the development of improved quickness and speed required for your return to sport. Every sport is different, so it is always best to seek the advice of your sports physiotherapist for the most effective and appropriate exercise prescription.  When recovering from an injury or surgery, it is important that a careful post-operative or post-injury program be planned. This plan needs to map the steps to safely return to your chosen activity. All the caution and careful rehabilitation in the world cannot account for what will actually take place out on the field, court, water etc. But, being as conditioned and responsive as able helps in your safe return.  More information to get you back in the game quicker:

Prehabilitation! Injury Prevention Programmes
To help prevent injuries, sports physiotherapists have begun to employ what they call "prehabilitation" strategies. Prehabilitation is essentially preventive injury risk assessment and training to prevent the problem before it happens.
There are 3 Phases of Prehabilitation
Analyzing an uninjured player's posture, joint alignment, flexibility, muscle control, biomechanics, core stability and movement patterns,
Understanding the risks of the sport itself, and
Considering other specifics such as the player's position.
Following these three steps, your sports physiotherapist can better predict injury risk. They can then develop specific training programs to help you prevent common overuse and other sports injuries.
