Clearly I’m doing something right if birds see my plants as a viable bed and breakfast! This chickadee came by last week singing loudly and hopping all over my balcony and focusing on my Cissus rhombifolia (aka Cissus alata). I saw it come by again today and checked to see—no nest under construction. But it was definitely scoping out the place! I was just doing nightly rounds and froze with a shock upon seeing this. I didn’t know what it was at first! What’s surprising is I was putzing around making noise and it didn’t wake up. I hope it’s not dead. I’ll know in the morning! While I adore birds, I can’t play house for this one.
