@skellyskellyskelly, Audrey Niffenegger, Eddie Campbell and I will be talking romance comics (and everything else under the sun) next Sunday at 2pm, followed by a signing! Brooklyn Book Festival is the coolest book festival in New York, very chill and accessible but with top writers. I love it and am so glad to have been invited back! #Repost @bkbookfest with @get_repost ・・・ Get your comics fix at #BKBF! This year, the Brooklyn Book Festival’s programming will feature panels with ...⠀ ⠀ 🎨 Caldecott Award-winning illustrator/author David Small (Home After Dark), The New Yorker cartoonist Liana Finck (Passing for Human), and anthropologist Bessora (Alpha) on refugees, outcasts, inheritors of hard history; ⠀ ⠀ 📺 Michael Kupperman (All The Answers), Box Brown (Is This Guy for Real?), and Rina Ayuyang (Blame This on the Boogie) on television and celebrity with adulthood and reality; ⠀ ⠀ 🌹 Audrey Niffenegger and Eddie Campbell (Bizarre Romance), Alex DeCampi and Katie Skelly (Twisted Romance) on weird romance and speculative fiction;⠀ ⠀ 🌆 Julia Wertz (designer of this year's art poster) will join Peter J. Tomasi (The Bridge), and Jason Lutes (Berlin) to discuss the graphic city;⠀ ⠀ 🌟 Ed Piskor (X-Men: Grand Design), Kwanza Osajyefo (Black), and Sheena Howard (Superb) will discuss the new superhero;⠀ ⠀ 💫 Acclaimed YA authors Hope Larsen (All Summer Long), Jen Wang (The Prince and the Dressmaker), and Tim Fielder (Matty’s Rocket) rise to the challenge with stories of summer rebellion, a gender-bending royal conspiracy, and an African-American Flash Gordon.⠀ ⠀ CHECK OUT THE PROGRAMS VIA LINK IN BIO!⠀ ⠀ #brooklynbookfestival #bookfestival #brooklyn #graphicnovels #comics #illustration #cartoon #cartoonist #illustrator #graphicdesign https://www.instagram.com/p/Bnb50L_H09s/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=z9xt8orue1x6

Happy #SignedBookSundays! For this weeks theme of Most Treasured I decided to feature #WeHuntTheFlame and include a photo of when I met the author @hafsahfaizal! This week was the 1 year anniversary of We Hunt The Flame's release into the world! Where does the time go?! I met Hafsah at the Brooklyn Book Festival last autumn. I love the @bkbookfest, its completely free to attend and theres events all week long leading up to festival day on Sunday - my favorite. Tons of authors and events, publishers, lot of indie pubs and authors, panels, lots of tables set up - the whole shebang. It includes ALL types of literature, even YA! There were a lot of fantastic YA panels that day and I attended the one Hafsah was on, and the authors always sign immediately afterwards - but I wanted to attend the NEXT panel as well so I skipped the official book signing. Fast forward a few hours, I was sitting in the courtyard towards the end of the day and Hafsah spotted me and came over to talk to me! She is SO SO sweet and I'm so grateful we could chat and she even offered to sign my book then and there. That's why this book is most treasured to me - the story and meeting the author behind it. Q: Who is your favorite author you've ever met - got any good stories? Or who do you WISH you could meet/have them sign your books? A: I hope to meet Rebecca Ross one day, the author of The Queen's Rising duology & soon to be Sisters of Sword & Song standalone. #MayBeeBookishLove - Free day #readingintheweb - Weekend vibes #cozyascanbee - #bookaesthetic #FearYourNovel - Duologies (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CATB1VwgM5E/?igshid=1kf48jmqty4cb

Rodrigo: "It's always a joy to read Rebecca Solnit. I'm reading Wanderlust because walking is very important to me. It's one of the things I enjoy the most and it's crucial for my work. The best of my writing happens when I'm walking. Wanderlust is a portrait of a simple act that can become very personal. Walking can be a pilgrimage or a political act – it's very creative. My characters are always in motion. They are trying to escape and find themselves. In Houston, where I live, I can barely walk. It's frustrating. I love encountering so much energy here in New York. Each person carries their own story. The city is all those stories intersecting. You can feel it." #RodrigoHasbún #Affections @bkbookfest #rebeccasolnit #wanderlust / @theubc for #subwaybookreview #newyork 🗽 (at Brooklyn Borough Hall)
