"Your body is not your own. Your mind is not your own. Your life is not your own." Q: What's a series you started but never finished - but hope to finish this year? A: LIFEL1K3. I read it and I adored it, but when I found it was going to be a trilogy, I made the conscious decision to not read DEV1AT3 until book 3 (TRUEL1F3) was out so I could reread Lifelike, and then binge the other 2 books straight through. I'm DYING to know what happens so I'm so glad Truelife comes out June 30th! NOT LONG NOW. Please no Deviate spoilers! Lifelike completely reminded me of the Angel Sanctuary manga and I LOVED IT! (Ok, I also never finished Angel Sanctuary either. Oops.) I love the concept of angels/fallen angels/archangels - I’ll admit I don’t know very much about the hierarchy, but I want to learn more. I conveniently had a shirt with Gabriel on it, an archangel and in this series, the first "Lifelike" persona. 🤖 And I had to get this lemon drink to pay respect to my home girl Lemon Fresh! 🍋 She steals the show in this book. The audiobook was fantastic and I highly recommend it! 🎧 I will be listening to the audiobooks to reread - anyone know if a pre-Truelife reread is going on? I enjoyed the fluidity of this story to change as what we knew changed - that's one of the biggest things I loved. Happy #SignedBookSundays! For this weeks theme of Most Treasured I decided to feature #WeHuntTheFlame and include a photo of when I met the author @hafsahfaizal! This week was the 1 year anniversary of We Hunt The Flame's release into the world! Where does the time go?! I met Hafsah at the Brooklyn Book Festival last autumn. I love the @bkbookfest, its completely free to attend and theres events all week long leading up to festival day on Sunday - my favorite. Tons of authors and events, publishers, lot of indie pubs and authors, panels, lots of tables set up - the whole shebang. It includes ALL types of literature, even YA! There were a lot of fantastic YA panels that day and I attended the one Hafsah was on, and the authors always sign immediately afterwards - but I wanted to attend the NEXT panel as well so I skipped the official book signing. Fast forward a few hours, I was sitting in the courtyard towards the end of the day and Hafsah spotted me and came over to talk to me! She is SO SO sweet and I'm so grateful we could chat and she even offered to sign my book then and there. That's why this book is most treasured to me - the story and meeting the author behind it. Q: Who is your favorite author you've ever met - got any good stories? Or who do you WISH you could meet/have them sign your books? Q: Do you like going to museums and art? Have a favorite artist or work of art? A: Living in NYC, there are so many museums here! I love going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I even took an art history class IN THE MET while in college. Clearly the best class EVER. We went behind the scenes and I learned so much. Little known fact: I have a minor in art history. That I do nothing with. But I have it! I love trying to visit museums when I travel too.
