It’s World Bee Day! “The purpose of the www.worldbeeday.org website is to present the initiative and its implementation, raise awareness of the importance of bees and beekeeping, inform the public of major beekeeping events around the world and celebrate World Bee Day.”We are grateful for the tireless work of all the varieties of bees that pollinate our crops and flowers on the farm, in our community and around the world. “Beginning with the Bible, we know that flowering plants and trees were created on Day 3 and their animal pollinators were created on Day 5 (birds, nectar bats, flying insects) and Day 6 (crawling animals). God created in such a way that beneficial partnership could readily form between the members of various plant kinds and animal kinds during Creation Week to quickly produce a bountiful seed and fruit crop. Because God designed created kinds to be fully capable of adjusting and adapting (equaling variation) as new and different environments were encountered, these pollinating partnerships were re-established, perhaps in new and amazing ways, as the plant and pollinator kinds spread across the earth after the Flood (Gen 8:17).” #bees #insects #beesofinstagram #bees🐝 #pollinators #pollinatorfriendly #pollinatorgarden #honeybees #carpenterbees #beedance #beecolony #beehive #beehives #apiary #apiarylife #apiarist #pollen #blackbeekeepers #beekeepers #homestead #farmlife #homesteading #welovebees (at Saint Helena Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAa2wz0lpJm/?igshid=13qzsy34881vf

We received notice of the February Lowcountry Beekeepers meeting tomorrow. If you’re a beekeeper or interested in beekeeping consider membership. It’s a great way to learn and improve apiary skills, network with beekeepers and keep up with the current events and concerns surrounding bees. “The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Beaufort-Jasper Beekeepers Association is tomorrow at 9:30 AM at the Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head. We will have a good agenda to cover and a Power Point presentation on the Beekeeping Mindset that you need for being a successful beekeeper - beginner, intermediate or advanced. Some of the agenda items include: FUNdamentals of Beekeepig Course - February 29 in Savannah How to handle the weather extremes we are experiencing Management strategies Prison Beekeeping update Where can I buy bees right now? Annual membership sign-up and dues What is blooming now? When can I expect the first significant honey flow? The year ahead - what would you like our club to do? The March monthly meeting is scheduled for March 14, 2020 at 9:30 am. Same location. At this March meeting, we will be moving an existing full size hive that someone is donating to our apiary at Honey Horn. We will possibly move a feral hive that set up shop in a screech owl box too. Unfortunately there is a function on the grounds tomorrow with a lot of people that will preclude our going into the hives (will be cold anyway). See you there.” #bees #beesofinstagram #beekeeping #beekeeper #beekeepersofinstagram #beehive #beehives #beecolony #apiary #apiarylife #blackbeekeepers #blackfarmers #veteranfarmers #womenwhofarm #honey #honeybees #honeybee #honeycombs #gullahgeechee #farming #agritourism #agribusiness #apiarist #hive #hivelife #pollinators #polinators #pollination #pollinatorfriendly #pollinate (at Saint Helena Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/B82H7t7AmW6/?igshid=1fq3sco6iiacf

No, we’re not at the market today! We suited up! We worked hard this morning to reclaim our hive from swarming. They settled in one of our plum trees. We did an emergency pruning of the tree in order to get the bees. After a while of cutting, moving, smoking the bees and resettling they calmed down and stayed in the hives. #bees #beekeeper #beekeepers #apiarists #apiary #hives #beecolony #beeswarm #farmer #farmfamily #gullahgeechee #gullahfarmer #sclowcountry #veteranfarmer #blackfarmers #homesteadfarm #farmersmarket #farmersofinstagram #blackbeekeepers #honey (at Saint Helena Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByvZJ82goNc/?igshid=38mb6zy85ry8
