to counter that anti-blane negativity, I feel compelled to send this to say that I love blonde shane with all my heart I'm glad he let his intrusive thoughts won and decided to do this he's a blonde prince i love he'm a normal amount

Can you expand on Shane being weird about blane because he liked it too much? I must have missed that 😯

anon I love this because Shane being weird about his hair is a top fixation of mine.

So when Shane first went blond in May 2021, he was very shy about it. He was wearing lots of hats and trying to hide it those first couple weeks. (the only way fandom even knew it was blond was because of Sara posting pics). There was even a WW+ where they answered a question about dying your hair for the first time that Steven mostly handled, and when Ryan said something like "Shane don't you have anything to add?", Shane just picked a new question.

Eventually, he revealed somewhere down the line that his Chicago buddies had all made a pact to bleach their hair after getting vaccinated and as a way to celebrate the "end" of quarantine. Since he was so reticent about showing off his newly colored hair at the beginning of Blane, and because it was done as a friend group thing, my assumption was that he hated the blond hair and wouldn't do it again.

Then! This past August he went Blane 2.0, fully embraced it without hats, and may have even gotten the roots touched up once considering how long they lasted. I don't think his Chicago buddies went blond again themselves, so this seems to have been entirely his own doing. He even talked about it, saying something like he wanted to have a fun blond summer or something. So this leads me to believe that he was so weird about it in 2021 because he liked it so much and was self-conscious about it.

Of course, this is all just my own theorizing, so who knows what the real story is. But I'm very pleased he embraced the Blane once again, and with a nice longer cut this time too.
