During a tough week, I’m feeling forever grateful to have met this amazing lady, to call her my friend, and to have someone so awesome bringing joy to my life ❤️ Yesterday was my last dance 💃🏻 class before Christmas 🎄, and therefore my last Lucy Day (except it’s actually not, because Lucy and I are having a day out next Wednesday 😂👍🏻!), so although we’re having a dance class Christmas do next week, we decided to have our own lil Christmas meal. Today my student teacher/volunteer at Rubicon Dance met me (as in, got the train from her house to mine!) at LMC to take me on the bus (two buses there,two buses back) to class, act as my carer there, and take me back to LMC, all for free (because LMC are short staffed and didn’t have anyone for today)! We had a fab time and lots of laughs, and I bought us both a Starbucks on the way to class, after we stopped there for me to use the mission impossible style keycoded loo, and she bought us lunch on the way home that we ate at mine after 😁. Lucy is an absolutely lovely person, really funny and terribly kind 💖 and really interesting; she’s an ex carer doing a PHD in clinical psychology about the effect of people getting mobility aids, working with mobility aid companies, and volunteers with Rubicon teaching Dance. New friend alert 🤩! Feeling very lucky to know such an incredibly kind person 💖 @rubicondance you’ve got some (aka A LOT) or truly fantastic people on your team 😁! My weekly dance classes are genuinely a highlight in my week, and are so important for maintaining my physical and mental health. For an hour a week I get to dance 💃🏻 with my friends 👭 to awesome tunes 🎶 and that hour has given me some confidence back in my body, and even kickstarted my journey of relearning to love and care for my body. But most importantly, it makes me happy, even during really terrible days and weeks when I’m in pain and poorly and my parents are poorly and... well, you get the picture! It makes me happy 😁. So my best friend, big sister and platonic soulmate @mjenga10 slept over my house last night 😁 and we went out for brunch this morning 😁 and we had a blast! She sleeps over mine once a year, every year, as training in preparation for when we go on our Jumbulance 18-30’s holiday together and she is my carer for a whole week... that’s right, this amazing lady, who already works as a TA to two different nursery age special needs kids, has her own business running drama workshops for kids with autism, works as a carer for a little boy with severe autism and a lot of very complicated health problems, and works at a children’s play centre, pays out of her own pocket to be responsible for me and my wonky health for a whole week! I have gotten to have so many wonderful, beautiful, fun, funny, joyful, once in a lifetime experiences because of her love and support. Because of her, I’ve seen Amsterdam, Austria, Brittany, and Berlin, and get to go back to my favourite location Amsterdam all over again this July. She enables me to take a break from my day to day life that ensures I stay sane. She has, and continues to, enrich my life beyond words. And she loved me at a time when I wasn’t able to love myself, and had such poor mental health I was rather unloveable in general. She’s literally MY HERO! Jade, you know how much I love you. You are my best friend, my big sister, my soulmate, my guardian angel, warrior princess, real life superhero, daily inspiration, unshakable support, and a light in my life 🌟☀️💛 thank you for all that you have done, and all that you continue to do. I wouldn’t, couldn’t, be me without you. Even just a sleepover and brunch at the local M&S cafe is a marvellous adventure that I treasure.
