He was so tired after jobs that carrying his own weight often felt like too much effort, yet carrying her seemed almost no effort at all. She fit easily in his arms and seemed so fragile there -- perhaps due to the contrast between this and all the violence he had just exercised. He was accustomed to hitting and breaking, the crunch of bone under his fists and the strike of a skull into a wall. This was very different. It felt out of place.

Particularly while his mask was still on. He made it up to his apartment, carefully rested the woman’s small frame on the couch. He wasn’t sure just how conscious she was yet. She hadn’t stirred much after being taken out of the car.

Jacket stood for a moment, studied her without meaning to while he reflected on the decision to bring her here. But he only reflected briefly. Then he turned to shut and lock his apartment door, stood and breathed there for another beat before pulling his mask off. It felt far easier to breathe after that.

     It was strange, not unwelcome, but very strange to have someone else in his den. Even stranger that it they took the time to CLEAN the scattered messes that he kept. He supposes, it was some sort of thank you for saving her. He had already told her she could stay as long as she needed but he didn’t expect it to be so long. She seemed comfortable.

   Quick digits began to tap at the screen of his phone and raising the volume on it’s side so he could be heard from the ‘living room’. (I’m Home. You hungry?)
