▶️ Today's #BookBreakMonday excerpt is from Native Son by Richard Wright, 1940. Despite this being required reading in some schools, this was my first time reading this book. To say this book is dark is an understatement, but it is certainly worth the time and energy needed to consume Wright's words. Every single character suffered from one heinous act. Richard Wright explained in an essay, "The birth of Bigger Thomas goes back to my childhood, and there was not just one Bigger, but many of them, more than I could count and more than you suspect. But let me start with the first Bigger, whom I shall call Bigger No. I." Have you picked up this classic or any of Wright's other works? #biggerthomas #bookreading #richardwright #harlemrenaissance #bookexcerpt #reading #blackwriters #blackliterature 🎼: outro URL: https://icons8.com/music/ https://www.instagram.com/p/B1WBpMqjYp4/?igshid=16gpv6hakdx2g
