Practising gouache and patterns. I added too much water to the background and damaged the paper, which isn’t intended for watery mediums. Oh, well. This is a consciously limited palette for me and is still bright! This might look like I was aiming for a Frida-esque woman but no. I had in mind the gorgeous skin of one of my ‘style gurus’, the writer, Zadie Smith @zadie_smith or even the model, Adwoah Aboah. @adwoaaboah . They both have adorable sprinklings of freckles. Freckles have an association with childhood but these women have elegance and sophistication. I love freckles. The prominent ears were intentional.
