‘Funny little things,’ or ‘Strange-looking creatures’ are the kind of comments a hoo-man might make when observing the wondrous diversity of the animal kingdom. Just as surely, one must consider the question, ‘How do humans look to them?!’ I like imagining them making such remarks as, ‘The long danglies are here with those flat thingies to point at us, again!’ It probably wouldn’t look like this, but I’m claiming artistic license and imaginative license. This is the first page of my new sketchbook; a 200 gram paper, Fabriano hardback, somewhere in between A4 and A3. Every flipping double page is stitched. (Sound of blissful sighing). “Of course it was a dream, but her clothes were damp when she woke.” I painted most of this when I received my delivery from @theartshop.com.au last week. I completed it today after reading todays’s Instagram post of the lovely and brilliant #gabriellewangbooks that today is #worldelephantday. Conservation only works if greedy animal murderers take a clear look at their own vile actions. If anyone reads this they’re probably already the converted that I’m preaching to. Just thought I’d mention this: Yes, work is for sale! Prints are ALWAYS possible, and I’ve been known to tear pages out of the sketchbook. Just mentioning it. Back to the above: What title would you bestow? This is how I have begun to play with my recent additions of #holbeinacrylicgouache . I am enjoying them! I feel they are conducive to increasing one’s confidence in painting when there’s little there. @sfraser3 This is the one I mentioned during our recent phone chat! (I’m inclined to develop this to a painting on canvas. I am not satisfied with the look of the spectators and will alter this to something more visually dynamic. Or I can but dream).
