oh boy if the first day of early voting here is any indication, the turnout this year is going to be huge

#i have never in my life had to stand in line to vote before #let alone a long line #they had like thirty or something booths set up and there was still a long and growing line #and there are *many* places to vote in this county #the pollworker was like ''this is amazing i have never seen this before'' and i'm like ''i love to see it''#let's fucking go y'all #i mean massive early voting turnout has already been seen elsewhere so it's not the first sign but holy shit guys #it appears that texas is turning the fuck out to vote and while idk how that will end up translating #high voter turnout usually means blue wave and i am like... dare i hope? dare i dream?#politics for ts #us politics for ts

just came off my shift as an election judge and I honestly think we should make people do this. I support abolishing the draft, and I even think that jury duty can get complicated, but everyone in the country should be forced to learn about election procedure, then have to sit around for 14 hours and practice being customer service for democracy. I think that would fix us.

#is it fascinating scintillating work that will set you on fire for political discourse? no.#in my experience it is mostly making amiable conversation with elderly citizens #and occasionally complimenting people's penmanship #are some people....strange? absolutely yes.#and I heard even WEIRDER stories from my colleagues who were pollworkers before.#not even about the voters; about other pollworkers!#but I spent 14 hours (and some change) in a too-hot room half falling apart; I set up voting booths and counted colored tags #and was polite to everyone even the people who didn't talk or needed detailed explanations of every step.#I feel like it's victory enough.#anyway. enough on this subject! onto other things.#............................................at least until november when I'll do it again.#man's unending search for freedom

love being weird about a ship that's on screen for 3 seconds every season. i understand them profoundly. precisely because they're off-screen more than they're on it. your own universe's format giving you a way out. you are free to be your fictional self far away from this artificial construct. the audience doesn't get the privilege to discuss this and is left with a strict selection of results. it's cool because this is a typical TV mechanism, the news keeping the truth away from you for various different, but equally dishonorable reasons, but here it's like you don't get to see this play out because it's too real to be televised. this does NOT exist for your entertainment. deal with it.
