Ceremonial dagger with turned ebony handle, obsidian and meteoric iron inlays, 10.5” long. These two elemental beings share similarly primordial origins. One Stellar, the other bound to our world. This dagger in time came to possess attributes I ascribe to Algol, though not consecrated to her; a mirror in tellurian-black obsidian, and meteoric iron — both conceived in moments of ineffable and acute cosmic violence. The iron meteorite potentially formed billions of years ago when a dying star first imploded and subsequently exploded, hurling the newborn element into the void until it collided with earth in what is now Argentina. The obsidian is native to the mountains here in southern idaho and formed over 18,000 years ago when a large magma flow issued from a fissure between tectonic plates, rapidly cooling upon meeting the waters of a massive paleolake. And presently, we find two humble fragments from these primordial events carrying all the ferocity of their respective pedigrees. Hand carved poison box, poplar, 3.5”x 11” x 5.5”, bearing countenances of Papaver Somniferum (opium poppy) and Hyoscyamus niger (Black henbane), both of whom have moved with humanity for millennia as allies and an interface to worlds above and below our own. I would consider these two plants to be the divine primordial twins of magico-medicinal flora. Henbane is historically known for its command over precipitation, weather and electrical storms, including those of the central nervous system inviting ecstatic terror, euphoria and stupification. Opium poppy has over thousands of years groomed us to meet her every need and in return, a staggering 3,700 tons of raw opium is produced and consumed annually. Both have earned their places in the holiest of sacred rites, at celebratory functions and naturally, the places of internment and cremation. Hello! It’s been some time since I’ve posted, it’s been crazy getting the new shop together but I wanted to extend this offer, as it’s been a while since I’ve done this particular working and it’s time again. On Sunday evening, the 8th of August, the New Moon will be upon us and I’ll disinterring a dagger which has been buried at a three-way crossroads dividing a stream and a graveyard since the evening of 30 April (Walpurgis Night). The dagger has been dedicated to Hecate. I’m offering here the opportunity to procure the dagger as well as join me Sunday evening at this place for Deipnom and the exhumation by way of electronic communication. It might be weird. It may be excessive and it may be a little short on notice, but it will without a doubt be an experience which will serve to galvanize the relationship between the devoted and the dagger and afford you the opportunity to remotely experience something that cannot properly be articulated in speech. I’m thrilled to announce an upcoming collaboration between esteemed astrologer and psycho-therapeutic counselor Sasha Ravitch and Borealis Ironworks and a host of amazing folks, one which began in a swamp and a cave on 30 April and is due to flesh out near Samhain. The aim of this project is twofold in nature. First, we’d like to honor Melusine’s desire, in this time — to have her beauty, magical power, and brilliance known and celebrated. This, in addition to her more accessible and public role as the Faerie Queen in a time where people are becoming increasingly re-enchanted by Faerie. Secondly, this will allow us to financially assist our respective women’s shelters with profits raised in her honor, as this falls within the ambit of Melusine’s patronage. Ultimately, we will be casting a strictly limited number of bronze and obsidian amulets bearing the countenance of Melusine. To be added to the crucible will be offerings of flesh, fruit, spring waters, coinage and bone lovingly gathered (most on May Eve or May Day) by further collaborators and originating at holy wells, springs and groves across greater Albion, France, Luxembourg, Scotland, North America and Germany. This blade is modeled after the celebrated Kukri knives of Nepal and the Indian subcontinent as a whole where, as a rule, blood offerings are dispatched with no other blade but the Kukri.
