This hit me hard. It didn’t take me long to find my #authenticself but it did take me a long time to accept her in all her glory 🦄. January has become a particularly hard month for me which always makes it feel like I can’t start the year off with my best foot forward. And I’ll admit this year started off {again} with a lot of struggle... but not nearly as trying as other years! So I keep trying to tell me self progress is progress even if I’m not exactly where I want to be. And even though I’m def still guilty of putting others wants & needs before my own and get myself into trouble I have done so much better on self care, self worth, & setting healthy boundaries. Hello September, let’s get #vulnerable 🖤. In case you didn’t know, September is National #Suicide Prevention & Awareness month. If you know me #mentalhealth is something that has become a major factor in my life & I’ve become a big #mentalhealthwarrior 💜. But I believe in it for so many reasons. Not just because everyone deserves Mental Health but in January of 2017 I attempted to take my own life. And it’s not a place or a feeling I would ever wish on anyone. We all play a part in this #socialjustice fight! Right now I can say, help isn’t out there. The #stigma of mental health far out weighs the help available. This is why people never get help, even when they seek it and lose this fight and end up ending their lives. We can change this! We can change the way we view mental health & the people who have it. But we don’t just change mental health with a #suicidehotline or hospitals. We don’t change it by just #defundingthepolice and #fundingsocialworkers . Nope, unfortunately it starts with YOU. It starts with the way you view others. It starts with the kindness we show those who are different. It starts with a helping hand to someone who struggling. It starts with an open mind and an open ear to listen. It starts with sharing your heart. It starts with YOU and ends with RESPECT. So this year, that’s all I’m asking for is very simple. No donations on Facebook for charity. No fun event to attend during #covid . No money or time obligations.
