I don't really like the direction the manga is taking. This kinds of time-travel/memory altering plots give me a lot of anxiety for the characters, and while it's interesting to see Kawaki beginning to show his true colors, I wish it hadn't come at the cost of Boruto losing everything.

I like Boruto (I didn't before but then he had actual character development and now I do). I find his relationship with Naruto and Hinata and Himawari super wholesome. I hate that even Naruto would have been affected by this thing and would have hunted down his own son if Kawaki hadn't trapped them elsewhere (or maybe, because they are in a different dimension they weren't affected and now Kawaki has an extra motive to keep them away and pretend they're dead. Ouch). To me, the relationship between Naruto and Boruto really gives life to the manga and to have it all reversed is, honestly, such a punch in the gut!

It's like those movies or tv shows where the main character is swapped by a clone or changling or something and everyone turns against them. I hate those. I hate this whole thing.

(To be fair, I'm super biased because Naruto has always been a comfort character to me and Boruto is his son and I know Naruto would be devastated if he were to kill his own son only for the "magic" to be reversed and make him realize what he's done. No, that hasn't happened and probably won't happen but I have an overactive imagination and that's enough.)

After chapter 79, I've been wondering if Himawari has been. Affected.. I'm guessing and hoping she isn't but it'd be depressing for her either way.

If she isn't affected then she'll have to watch the entire village go against her only remaining family and see everyone standing with the person who caused the tragedy.

If she is affected then in her pov kawaki is her older brother so she'll probably be very betrayed and sad and will cry etc making kawaki feel guilty because we all know kawaki has a soft side for hima. Hima might also whine and tell kawaki why Boruto did this when they were all so good and kind to him, that hima ALWAYS considered him family and yet now he wants to hunt down kawaki. Well here she's talking about kawaki but in her mind kawaki is Boruto and kawaki knows this so kawaki will feel more and more guilt and yet there is nothing he can do to console her.

I feel like hima's story will be full of angst :(

OMG... I feel the same way... Things will turn out depressing for Hima either way...

I'm still hoping that Hima remains unaffected (it may be related to the "power" that Daemon felt from her), but yes... This is a lose-lose situation for Hima... 😭😭😭

I feel so bad for our Sunshine siblings...

I also feel so bad for Naruto and Hinata... They definitely didn't want their babies to go through something like this! 😭💔

We might partly still blame Kawaki but he (or any of them for that matter) wouldn't be in this situation if it weren't for those Otsutsukis...

Friendly reminder that neither Eida nor Kawaki knew what Omnipotence even was and they activated it completely by accident.

Even after it activated, Kawaki had no idea what was happening. It even took Eida a second to realize.

Plus, we know that Eida has no control over Omnipotence.

She seems to genuinely regret what happened afterwards.

Guys neither of them knew this power existed let alone how to use it. The whole life swap thing was completely unintentional and out of their control. Say what you will about Eida and Kawaki but they’re both totally innocent in regards to this event. :/

It's becoming increasingly likely Eida has rewritten reality by alternating memories, and Eida turning almost everyone in Konoha against Boruto in order to maybe get closer to Kawaki.

Since Sarada is not affected by Eida, I hope Sakura, Himiwari, Kakashi, Orochimaru, Sumire and Hanabi aren’t brainwashed as well.

Having seen how Boruto and Kawaki switch places... oh goodness...  I didn’t think this could happen.  Only Sarada isn’t affected? Which means, she could be the one that can revert the ‘spell’/jutsu?

in the meantime, I’m still waiting on a page of Himawari’s reaction to everything... I’m actually a bit angry why Boruto [who saw Himawari just a few moments ago getting grocery] didn’t go to check on his sister before heading for Kawaki?

Boruto Post-Chapter 79 Theory

Naturally, spoilers for Chapter 79 and before

So, in Chapter 79, Eida manipulated everyone's memories such that Kawaki and Boruto have switched lives, but it doesn't work on Otsutsuki or Sarada. Presumably, Eida has the same power limits that she had with the smaller charm ability (family members and Otsutsuki). In a previous post (https://www.tumblr.com/72crowe89/709387459518251008/boruto-theory?source=share), I postulated that anybody with Otsutsuki DNA, either implanted or through descent would be unaffected by Eida's ability (that's why neither Sarada nor Sumire were affected).

With that, I believe that Sasuke is going to save Boruto and, with or without Sarada, will take him to Orochimaru's to hide and train. Why?

Sasuke- Immune due to being an Otsutsuki descendant

Sarada- Immune due to being an Otsutsuki descendant

Karin- Immune due to being an Otsutsuki descendant

Yamato- Immune due to having cells of an Otsutsuki descendant

Suigetsu- Doesn't have any particular loyalty to Naruto or Konoha

Jugo- Doesn't have any particular loyal to Naruto or Konoha

Orochimaru- Would find the whole thing amusing

The only issue would be Mitsuki, but it doesn't seem like he visits Orochimaru a lot, and even if he does, I don't believe he'll be able to defeat Sasuke, even with his Sage Mode.

I'm CALLING this shit now. Sarada is the only one immune to Eidas charm. Sarada will have to be the one to kill eida in the future if she wants to break everyone's effects. She might even gain a e rinnegan for killing someone who could have potentially been a friend.

The official release for Boruto chapter 79 is finally out

And daaaayyumm... I'm loving and yet also hating the new twist in the story.

But I have so many questions now... Though I know eventually those will be answered as the story progresses... I'm mainly wondering now which ones still remain unaffected...

Like, is Sumire still immune? How about Hima? Would it also affect Naruto and Hinata? And I'm also wondering that if Sasuke is affected and yet Sarada wasn't, does that mean their Uchiha bloodline has nothing to do with it? 🤔
