이번 위스키 스토리 트릴로지 시리즈의 주인공은 바로 [ 보모어 BOWMORE ] 입니다. 처음 소개시켜드리는 피트 위스키라 고민이 많았는데… 역시 첫 피트는 보모어가 국룰이지 않을까 싶네요ㅎㅎ

보모어 위스키 중 첫번째로 [보모어 12년]을 브랜드 스토리와 함께 소개해 드리겠습니다.

보모어는 작가 무라카미 하루키가 극찬한 위스키로 유명한 아일라 위스키 중 하나입니다. 아일라(Islay)는 스코틀랜드 남쪽에 위치한 섬 이름으로, 아일라 지역 특유의 *피트(Peat)한 성분으로 인해 짙은 특색을 갖는 위스키 입니다.

보모어는 1779년에 아일라 섬 최초의 라이센스를 받은 설립된 증류소입니다.

버번캐스크 셰리캐스크를 주로 사용하며, 다른 아일라 증류소에 비해 낮은 *페놀 함량을 가지고 있어 밸런스가 좋은 피트 위스키입니다. 그래서 첫 피트위스키 입문으로 많이들 찾고 추천하는 위스키 입니다.

보모어는 전체 생산량의 30%를 플로어 몰팅 방식으로 생산하여 품질을 유지하고 있습니다.

오이스트 루지(Oyster Luge)를 마케팅으로 적극 이용하여 굴과의 페어링이 좋다고 많이 알려진 브랜드로 해산물, 회와 페어링이 좋은편입니다.

현재 일본의 빔 산토리(Beam Suntory) 社 소속입니다.

*피트(Peat) : 이끼나 풀이 퇴적되어 석탄이 되기전 과정으로 '이탄'으라고도 불림. 병원향, 풀향, 스모키 등이 특징. *페놀(Phenols) : 피트 위스키의 강도를 나타내는 화합물로 아일라 대표 위스키인 라프로익이 대략 50ppm이고 보모어는 약 25ppm정도. *오이스터 루지 (Oyster Luge) : 석화 껍질에 위스키를 채우고 굴과 함께 먹는 방법.

보모어의 엔트리 위스키로 아일라 피트 위스키 입문용으로 가장 많은 추천을 받는 위스키입니다. 피트 위스키의 정석으로 불리는 라프로익의 절반정도 되는 함량을 가지고 있습니다. 플로럴함과 달달한 향이 있고 스모키가 두드러집니다.

How are you spending your Friday night? The #Bowmore 12 is a great start! The nosing starts off with some soft smoke swirling with fruity zest with the smoke increasingly getting stronger. The palate is undoubtedly #islay with smoke dominating coupled with coastal notes taking me to the sea side and is complimented well with sweet vanilla notes. The smoke and peat continue to the end to complete a nice punch.
