I’m still not over it I’ll never be over it I fucking adore Farewell, Rayashki and I need to talk about how Windsong and Vila, and by extension Rayashki, compliment each other.

Rayashki is a near-utopian dream - Vila particularly states it often, how it’s her dream and how wonderful it is to live there, and everyone else living in it shares this dream, and they fight tooth and nail to keep it alive and fuel it.

And then there’s Windsong. I’d call her the POV character for this story, with her own dream, of revitalizing the study of ley lines, and proving its legitimacy to the wider world.

And I adore how these two dreams intersect.

Immediately, Vila shows the acceptance and welcoming nature of Rayashki - the same she had received. She, and the others, allow Windsong to prove herself without prejudice, and that’s exactly what she does.

The line “This is where our paths meet” may as well encapsulate their story, and the story of Rayashki. It’s a place where others can find their home, a place they belong without judgement - and which in turn helps facilitate their dream.

Windsong is heard, accepted - and her studies help the town turn around. She helps them deal with the critters, the Zeno occupation - and, eventually, their problem with the town’s sustainability, by discovering a massive coaldeposit, all thanks to the knowledge hidden in the ley lines.

But she couldn’t have done it by herself.

The people of Rayashki, and Vila in particular, believe in her theory, and maybe more importantly, they believe in Windsong, likely even more than she believes in herself. They give her the courage to push further, to stand her ground, and to prove what she knows and what she can do.

And it’s mutual. When the Zeno try to tempt her with an endorsement, she does consider it at first.

But Zeno doesn’t believe in her. Rayashki, Vila, however; they do.

What immediately jumped at me was the wording of “less than satisfactory results”. Everything Windsong had said, predicted or discovered here so far was right - the only thing less than satisfactory was what she was leading the people of Rayashki to discover - which, while it came at an unforeseen cost, was just what they had needed.

But the point is, Zeno didn’t believe in her. Zemo didn’t care. This was a carrot on a stick, a way to shut her up and get her out of the way. And this wouldn’t prove her studies. To take this endorsement would be to walk away from the exact opportunity that she had been waiting for her whole academic career, with no proof to show for it.

But she stuck with Rayashki, she believed in Rayashki, in Vila’s dream, because they believed in her dream. This is where their paths met.

This and many other reasons are why I adore the story of Rayashki. It was everything I had hoped it would be, and I’m absolutely thrilled for 1987 Cosmic Overture. Windsong has become one of my favourite characters throughout, and the dynamic of her, Vila and August is wonderful.

Anyway I love them so much and I need them to kiss. I’ve been scouring Windla fics for hours after finishing Rayashki and they’re all so good and I need more and I’m basically decided that I will write some (after I finish the ToothZ in my drafts).

On the one hand I am very, very glad to have figured out the symptom that happens at the very start of an allergic reaction for me, and that if I take a benadryl right then I can usually avoid pretty much the whole allergic reaction and get just a moderate headache at worst (instead of a hospital visit) but on the other hand it would be great if that symptom didn't also happen whenever I get cold. Like...do I need a benadryl or do I need a hot water bottle? Hard to tell lol (I am okay I have a system I just also think it's funny that those are the two things that start the same for me. Dysautonomia and mast cell issues are a confusing combo sometimes)

How do you think people find out about Vertin's scar? The only possible person to know is likely Madam Z, Tooth Fairy and Constantine. Maybe Matilda, Sonetto and Mesmer might have seen it when they were kids but idk.

(The only person we can definitely say is Arcana and Schneider so far)

What would be the reaction to said scar if anyone realises this is probably Vertin being experimented on? (We honestly still no nothing so this is just headcanon ideas so have fun!)

Mmmm, quite interesting though. I hadn't thought about it.

Tooth Fairy definitely knows about the scar and has been wondering about it ever since. She's her doctor so every time she had to do a check up on Vertin because she felt "sick" (excuse) she could see that weird shaped scar.

She has asked Vertin about it but she gets no response other than "I don't know"

She doesn't know or suspect it's because of an experiment, but she does know Vertin is quite a unique child. She stopped asking after a while but still makes sure it's just a scar every time she checks, even now when Vertin is 16

Madam Z also knows, mostly because Tooth Fairy went to ask her about the scar and then she went to check herself.

She is the one persisting more about that scar with Constantine and the others, she still gets no response from them. She has her suspicion on them but Vertin doesn't seem to be in a bad health and is pretty healthy.

It's not a big issue per say, a weird scar on her forehead, no one pays mind to it so she has to stay quiet.

As for how they'd react if it turned out to be an experiment, it would be quite mixed.

Sonetto would be terrified and shocked, she would try to get answers from Constantine but gets none. It's scary to think that the foundation you gave your life to has been experimenting on children.

Though she wouldn't leave or question her loyalty, she would be more appalled to work with them and would stick if Vertin more.

Matilda is another case of being unable to do anything. She's not as loyal to the foundation as Sonetto but she's still held high, she can't just do something against them.

She's terrified and keeps thinking of all those opportunities they had to experiment on her. She's the youngest to graduate from the SPDM so she has seen the teachers be more weird towards her.

She can do something though, she can make sure that no one else suffers through the same by keeping watch on the SPDM children. That's her role.

Mesmer probably already knows. Listen, she's being manipulated by Constantine into acting like a Mesmer, she knows at least something. She doesn't really want to do anything to Vertin so she doesn't participate but she has seen some things.

Now, Madam Z is livid. She's been discussing politically about the moral of this experiment and has made a couple rules to stop it that are yet to be accepted.

Much like in Chapter 4, she tries to get the others to accept these rules in order to stop the experiment. Since this is such huge news, of course many departments end up taking Z's side.

I think this would play out similarly to Chapter 4, as in trying to clear an injustice within the foundation. However, they truly can't leave the foundation or else they would have no support or help. Vertin still needs them and the others need their support as well. They can't leave but they certainly can keep a watch on the younger ones in the foundation.

Being at the Drs knowing it's summer and my POTS is out of control but that's not why I'm here so I told my breath while they take my pulse to make it artificially go down but the nurse watches as she clips the thing and my hr goes from 136 to 100 and then looks up and asks if I'm breathing

so i decided to check my blood pressure due to The Headaches. it was 130/100 and 💖 was 108.

i had to take my usual BP pill and new pill together. it says the side effects include tired / dizzy. 😔
