Apple Pie (With a Slice of Love)
Saab smiles as he walks into the kitchen of his home with Brenda close behind him, both of them carrying bags of supplies as they prepare to bake. Brenda wore a tank top and shorts, Saab having followed her lead that morning when they woke up, the only difference being him wearing a snapback and sunglasses.
It was the fourth of July and the boys were coming over, Tony bringing Tori as Buddha brought Ellie. The plan was to prepare a barbecue for everyone that day, Saab having bought ribs and marinating them the night before, while Brenda had brought over the supplies to bake a simple pie.
Saab smiles as he watches her unpack the bags of groceries as she hums happily while starting on the dough for the pie crust, removing his sunglasses and hat before he starts peeling apples.
"Are you sure that this isn't too cliché?" asks Brenda with a small smile lingering on her face, "I know that it's the fourth of July but we don't have to make an apple pie."
Saab lets out a small laugh as he continues peeling apples, "Isn't it a little late to wonder that now?” He looks at the pile of peeled apples as he pulls out a knife, preparing to slice them into pieces as Brenda finishes up the dough for the pie crust.
“You’re right, you’re right,” she says, turning around to grab the pie plate as he finishes up with preparing the apples for boiling, Saab grabbing a clean pot before placing pre-measured ingredients into it, the smell of the mixture causing him to close his eyes and take a deep breath with a happy sigh.
Brenda smiles at him before turning away to finish pressing the dough into the pie plate, the rest of the preparations for the pie finishing quickly before Brenda finally pours the mixture of cinnamon and apples into the pie plate.
Saab picks up the pie with a smile as he places it into the oven, closing the door before helping Brenda with cleaning up the mess left behind, laughing as he turns to find her with flour on her nose.
He pokes her nose gently, watching with a smile as she looks up at him with a confused expression.
“Is there something on my nose?” asks Brenda while wiping at her nose, not bringing off any flour with her movements much to her surprise.
Saab laughed, wetting a paper towel and moving closer to her before gently pressing it onto her nose, wiping off the flour before following up with a kiss to her nose.
Brenda wrinkles up her nose with a smile before standing on her tiptoes to press a kiss to his lips, Saab smiling into the kiss before breaking it with a playful grin and picking her up. With a squeal, Brenda playfully slapped his arm as he started to spin around with her in his arms.
He stopped spinning after two turns, simply laughing as he sets her down to avoid dropping her due to his laughter but still holding her in his arms, holding her close to him with a gentle smile on his face as he looks at her with love in his eyes.
Brenda simply wraps her arms around his waist as she leans on his chest, looking up at him with a happy expression.
Saab leans down to kiss her on the forehead for a moment longer, the both of them closing their eyes as they enjoy this sweet, stolen moment between them.
They know that the guests will be over soon, but for now it’s just them.
Just them and the smell of baking apple pie.

A Breaking Heart
By me, when I was sad and angry
Brenda doesn’t remember when she started to suspect that her boyfriend had feelings for another woman, if it was when she noticed his late or missing responses, maybe it was his constant texting during their rare dates.
She had been asked repeatedly by her friends about Saab and his new friend, Erin. No longer was she asked to accompany him to races, only finding out about them through Tony or Denzel when they asked her why she didn’t come along.
“He was with her again,” they would state. They had noticed the pattern weeks ago, seeing Erin turn up with Saab instead of Brenda. Brenda no longer went with Saab to events, instead being accompanied by friends such as Vinny or Karen.
‘This can’t be happening, I’m just imagining things,’ she would think to herself, the protests coming quickly as she denied what she was seeing. To her friends she would say, “Of course he would never cheat on me, why would he?”
She ignored the sinking feeling in her gut for as long as she could, instead throwing herself into her work to avoid the feelings. She no longer went to events, choosing to keep her own company much to the displeasure of her friends. “It’s just that he’s busy at work,” she would tell them whenever they asked, ignoring their worried looks and comments.
Even Kiki had noticed that Brenda was withdrawing into herself, the only one having not noticed being Saab.
“Not at all,” he would laugh when questioned, “She’s just fine. Nothing is wrong at all.” He would then turn to his phone, texting Erin again to ask her to meet up as he started to walk away.
Brenda felt that sinking feeling in her gut again when it started raining, choosing to take deep breaths and stay at the hospital, looking outside of the hospital through the doors before walking over to them, taking out her phone.
Trying to ignore the feeling, she calls Saab with a forced smile on her face, hoping he could cheer her up or talk to her for just a second. He had been distant lately, she knew, his eyes and voice no longer passionate when she called or talked to him, and even seeing him hurt. She had tried so hard to not notice him taking calls more and more often on their dates, tried to ignore whenever Erin would touch his arm and he would let her with a smile.
She continued to deny her emotions and feelings, listening to the phone ring over and over again and hoping he would pick up this time. The smile slowly fell from her face as it continued to ring, she clutched at her skirt with white knuckles, mentally pleading for him to pick up the phone.
A tear falls down her cheek as the dial tone ends, the call being rejected from the other end as the rain continues to fall. She holds her phone in her hand, looking at the screen with a blank expression as tears fall down more and more rapidly, mimicking the rain outside. She clutches at her phone with a last chance hope, deciding to take a walk to clear her mind.
She started mindlessly wandering, enjoying the rainy weather as she headed in the direction of the construction site. She never heard gunshots, too lost in her thoughts to notice them as she walked towards the construction site with her breaking relationship on her mind. Her steps took her closer to the place and sight that would change everything, stepping around the various obstacles in her path and never coming across the bodies.
Instead she stumbled upon something else.
‘I was so stupid,’ she thinks to herself as she is snapped into reality. ‘I should have known better than to deny this.’
She stares blankly as Saab kisses Erin, now knowing why he had been so distant and why he had rejected her call. Her tears fall rapidly down her cheeks as the rain falls around her, the blackened skies seeming to cry with her.
Brenda sees Saab and Erin break apart only to look into each other’s eyes and smile to one another. Brenda lets out a sob, the sound going unnoticed as the two are so wrapped in each other.
Brenda clutches at herself, holding herself and turning away as she silently walks away. She never heard Saab whisper her name when he broke away from Erin’s gaze and saw her walking away. She never saw Erin’s smug smile as she saw Brenda walking away, instead Brenda focused on each step she took as she walked away.
Brenda wondered to herself why she was so stupid as she walked home alone, eventually reaching her apartment and turning off her phone. She grabbed her alcohol, sobbing as she started to drink away the pain.

Warm Winter Nights
Saab smiles from beside the fireplace in the small home he shares with Brenda, poking at the coals to help the fire burn. The sound of the crackling fire makes him smile as he turns around to check if everything was in place.
There were hot mugs with cocoa on the coffee table that had been recently prepared, filled to the brim with the steaming hot liquid. Next to the mugs was a plate filled with still-hot chocolate chip cookies, fresh from the oven less than ten minutes ago.
The only part missing from this perfectly prepared moment should be home any minute, the person whose absence Saab felt keenly. He had spent a lazy morning in bed with Brenda that day, neither one of them wanting to leave the warmth of the blankets or the embrace of the other.
They had finally separated at about noon for coffee, Brenda heading out to work shortly after. Saab had stayed home for the day, spending it lounging around the house. He had ordered in food for each meal and had ordered in supplies for that night. He had decided on cocoa and cookies after a small amount of thought, the classic combo sounding perfect for the evening in with Brenda.
Saab was startled out of his thoughts by the sound of the door unlocking, hearing footsteps coming towards the living area of the home. Brenda’s tired face peeked through the doorway for a moment, her eyes immediately seeking out Saab and lighting up at the sight of him. She then disappears again to go to the bedroom, changing into one of Saab’s t-shirts and a pair of sweatpants.
A quick trip to the bathroom to wipe the make-up off her face and then she’s coming to the couch to join Saab, her eyes immediately going to him and blocking out everything else in the room. Saab opens his arms with a soft smile as Brenda moves towards him, tucking herself into his arms with a happy sigh and a snuggle as she climbs onto his lap.
Saab laughs at her oblivious state, grinning as he wraps his arms around her and playfully rocks her back and forth. Brenda laughs before leaning into Saab further, taking a deep breath and wrinkling up her nose in confusion at the smell of chocolate in the air.
She sits up and looks around, “Where’s the cocoa?” she asks with an excited tone of voice.
Saab laughs and brushes Brenda’s long hair over her shoulder, replying with a smile, “It’s right on the table, did you not notice?” He points to the coffee table, Brenda looking over and immediately reaching over for the hot cocoa with a happy squeal, beginning to drink much to Saab’s amusement.
Saab’s gaze softens as he holds Brenda in his arms, watching her happy and relaxed expression with a content smile of his own. He brought a plush blanket over both of them, reaching for his own cocoa and taking a sip out of it.
Brenda and Saab relax on the couch under the blanket in silence, no conversation needed between them after a year together. Saab and Brenda quickly finished their cups of cocoa, not touching the cookies, before laying down on the couch together, wrapped up in an entangled embrace.
A quiet hour with whispered confessions of love and kisses passes in the blink of an eye, Brenda and Saab getting up and finishing getting ready for bed together. They both finally climb into bed, Saab pulling Brenda into his arms as her eyes start to close, sliding shut as Morpheus pulls her into his realm.
Saab smiles as he closes his eyes, relishing in the comfortable moment after a relaxing day. He drifts off to sleep with a smile on his face and Brenda in his arms. The lights from the small Christmas tree in the corner don’t bother either of them, the serene lighting making the room all the more beautiful.
‘Happy holidays,’ he whispers to himself and his sleeping paramour with a smile, drifting off to sleep as he thinks of what the next day would bring.

Wrapped in Your Love
Brenda is looking out of the window of the small house she and Saab are currently standing in, noticing that the sky was lit with oranges and pinks as the sun sets. She smiles as she pulls a plush blanket around her shoulders like a cape, the cool January air making her shiver just a bit.
Brenda picked up a hot cup of tea that she had left on the kitchen counter, one hand reaching around to keep her blanket in place before she takes the short walk to the couch. She sets her mug down on a nearby coffee table before laying down, the plush sofa welcoming her as she settles onto it with a soft sigh.
Brenda arrived home after getting coffee with Tori, Isaac had given her the day off. ‘Just go home,’ he had said the previous day with a small smile but firm tone, ‘You’ve been working too hard anyways, you haven’t taken a day off in a month.’
Brenda had laughed, simply going home without a fight and having prompted Tori to take the day off as well. Brenda had simply spent the day relaxing, from taking a bubble bath to getting coffee with Tori. For the first time in a month she was rested and revived, the only person missing from today had been Saab.
He had woken up before her and had quietly gotten ready for the day before kissing her on the forehead on his way out the door, knowing how tired she was. Saab had sent her a text saying ‘Good morning <#’ to wake up to, making her smile and blush as she read it.
That text had made the start of her day amazing, the rest of her day drama free and spent happily relaxing. Now she’s home again, curled up on the couch and waiting for Saab to walk through the door after his own long day at work. They had nothing planned for that evening other than relaxation, having not spent a calm and drama free night together in over a month.
The sound of the front door being unlocked makes Brenda jump, breaking herself out of her thoughts as she hears footsteps coming down the hallway.
Sure enough, Saab’s head pokes into the room, a tired smile on his face as he sees Brenda waiting, wrapped up on the couch like a little blanket burrito.
Brenda’s face lights up, “Hey handsome, I missed you today,” she says as she watches Saab walk over to her, quickly kissing her with a smile.
Saab lets out a heavy sigh, sinking to the ground for a moment before he stands up. “Hey, I’ll be right back, just have to change,” he says before walking out of the room.
Brenda watches Saab walk out for a moment before getting up and starting the coffee maker, her thoughts wandering as she walks over to the small kitchen window, noticing that the sun has almost finished its descent over the horizon and that the stars were beginning to appear.
Saab emerges from the bedroom after changing into a sweatpants and t-shirt, stopping in his tracks to admire the sight of Brenda in the light of the setting sun. He leans against the archway to the living room as he takes in the domestic and content sight, enjoying the small moment and mentally recording it for the future.
He breaks himself out of the moment with a silent sigh, smiling as he walks over to Brenda and startles her, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her on the cheek mischievously as she taps his arm reproachfully.
“Saab, don’t scare me like that,” Brenda laughs out as she feels his arms tighten around her. “Your coffee is brewing right now, I made decaf this time.”
Saab takes a deep breath, enjoying the scent of his decaf hazelnut coffee as it brews. “Thank you,” he says with a soft smile as he closes his eyes, tugging her close to him and taking in the warm emotions that fill him completely. “I appreciate that,” he comments as he enjoys the love in the air, taking one of her hands in his and entangling their fingers together.
Brenda smiles, squeezing his hand with hers as she looks at Saab for a moment, kissing his cheek gently before turning back and closing her eyes as she leans into him, enjoying the warmth of his body against hers. The two of them stand there together, the sound of the coffee pot beeping not even interrupting them as they enjoy the moment, wrapped up in each other’s love and secure with the fact that they’re together and the world is right for the moment.
Brenda sighs before she opens her eyes, noticing that the stars have appeared in the darkened sky above them. She smiles as she looks back, noticing that Saab has opened his eyes and is looking at her with love in his eyes. She turns in his arms, looking into his love-filled eyes with her own.
As they stand there, staring into each other’s eyes with nothing but love, they could swear they were falling in love even more with each passing moment.
Saab closes his eyes and presses his forehead against Brenda’s, feeling as she draws herself ever closer to his body and settles against him, her arms wrapping around to embrace him as he pulls her ever closer, her eyes closing as she smiles.
In the moments that they spent together, moments like this one, they could swear that they felt nothing but love for each other. It was moments like these that bring them closer, these moments in the dark under the starlit sky. These moments spent wrapped in love that keeps them warm, the feeling making them both warm as they enjoy each other’s embrace.

Sabrina's Adventures Pt. 3: Drawing a Crowd
Looking for the prologue or part two? Click the links then!
“Okay, I can do this,” Brenda says with a deep breath, trying to give herself confidence to no avail as she immediately slumps forward with a sigh. She gathers her strength and sits up straight, getting ready to face the music as she turns back.
“We’ve got this, Sabrina,” says Brenda to the toddler, receiving a gummy smile in return from the barely one year old girl as she babbles in her carseat joyfully. Brenda picks up her phone and shoots off a quick ‘We’re here’ text to her father before stepping out of the car and quickly moving to take her wiggling daughter out of her carseat.
The happy babbles of the one year old girl make Brenda smile fondly, the darling toddler with doe eyes always seemed happy and almost never cried. ‘I’m so happy,’ Brenda thinks to herself absently.
“Alright, Sabrina,” Brenda says in an excited and energetic tone which is met with a flurry of excited feet and hands as Sabrina reaches for her mother happily, settling once in Brenda’s arms. In Brenda’s distraction she forgets to look around, to observe her surroundings, and so she doesn’t notice the crowd of people emerging from Pillbox next door.
The first thing that Brenda notices is the unsettling feeling of unfamiliar eyes watching her, causing her to stiffen a bit and embrace her daughter a little more securely. The second thing she notices is the growing crowd nearby, a mixture of familiar and new faces staring in shock at the familiar face of Brenda, and the unfamiliar face of the giggling toddler in her arms.
The arrival of Ducksworth to her car could not have better timing, the man rushing down in his excitement only to pause in front of Brenda and hold out his hands excitedly for his granddaughter, not caring even in the slightest about the crowd watching in shock. He only pauses when he notices his daughter is stiff, withdrawing into herself under the watchful gazes that fall upon the happy trio and readying herself to protect her family if need be.
Ducky’s gaze turns solemn as he shifts Sabrina’s weight in his arms, holding her on his hip while resting a hand on Brenda’s shoulder.
“Don’t worry,” he says confidently, causing her to look back at him and relax slightly, “They won’t do anything if they know what’s good for them.” With a nod Brenda turns away from the crowd, finally embracing her father and daughter while still wary of her surroundings.
As if on cue a familiar figure in a blue plaid shirt steps forward, shock and confusion in his every feature before he begins speaking, OTT’s voice hesitant as he speaks. “Brenda, is that you?” he asks, causing her to stiffen and turn around, confident with the strong figure of her father backing her up.
“Hello, OTT,” she says in a cool tone, watching him with hostility in her icy gaze that makes him feel ten degrees colder than the already snowy streets of Los Santos. OTT visibly gulps as she looks as him, clearly scared and yet his curiosity pushes him to try to speak to her, his once friend had changed and he wanted to know why.
His curiosity overtakes him, stupidity taking the forefront as he immediately tries to push for answers.
“Brenda, what happened?” OTT asks, confusion clear in his tone and expression, “Why do you have a toddler? Who’s kid is that?”
Brenda’s icy gaze seems to pierce through OTT as he finishes speaking, hostility clear in her stance and expression as she stares at him. “‘That kid,’ as you call her, is my daughter. What happened is none of your business, either,” she finishes before turning her back to him, the roaring of car engines coming within earshot much to her obvious delight as a smile breaks onto her face at the sound of her family swiftly approaching.
The familiar red and black cars pull up to the curb with swiftness and the people inside the vehicles swiftly step out and close the doors of their cars with smooth movements that seem at odds with their soft appearances, fuzzy sweaters and casual jeans paired with combat boots gracing all of the familiar figures.
Tony takes the lead as the group charges forward with Tori close behind him, the group of people quickly assessing the situation and rush over to Brenda, Tori embracing her best friend immediately while Tony and the others took a protective stance in front of her, facing the ever-growing crowd of people watching with shock as the baby with Saab’s familiar features rests happily in the embrace of her grandfather.
OTT couldn’t help but look back and forth between Brenda and Sabrina for a bit, dumbfounded at her cold response to his question before his gaze was broken by a figure he knew well, Tony moving to block his view of Brenda protectively before Buddha, Ellie, Curtis, and Denzel step behind Tony with a united front.
“OTT, turn around and go,” says Tony in a dark tone, the words more than a suggestion to the man in front of him.
OTT begins to stupidly open his mouth again before Ellie cuts in, quickly shutting him down. “Come on OTT,” she says, “Don’t be an idiot, just turn around and walk away.”
OTT gulps nervously before puffing out his chest with false confidence, “B-but,” he begins, “What do you mean, Brenda? You have a daughter?” His words are met with exasperated expressions before Tony steps forward threateningly, sending OTT stumbling back nervously at the sudden movements.
“I said back off, OTT,” Tony says before turning away, “You’re a waste of bullets, I’ll spare you this time,” he finishes before turning around. “Brenda,” he says, a gentle edge in his tone as he speaks to his friend, his sister, and she turns around to grace him with a soft smile, “Let’s head inside now.”
Brenda nods, turning around and gesturing for Ducky to lead the way as she and Tori wrap their arms around each other’s waists, the best friends not yet ready to be separated.
The group swiftly moves into Integrity Apartments to avoid any idiotic members of the crowd that would decide to interrupt the group’s Christmas Eve celebration, moving to Ducky’s apartment happily.
The door closes and they relax, Ducky setting down Sabrina as Tony finally hugs Brenda, Ellie close behind while Curtis and Buddha move further into the apartment, settling onto the couches and making light conversation in the comfortable atmosphere.
The crackling of the fireplace is accompanied by the light of the small Christmas tree in the apartment, the smell of a holiday dinner wafting through the air as the family makes their way through the apartment and into the living room, laughter and conversation filling the air with comforting warmth as the group catch up with each other happily.
Later that night Brenda looks out the window of the apartment with Sabrina safe in her Aunt Tori’s arms, content with a rare glass of wine and the low hum of after-dinner conversation. She looks at the moon with a sad smile on her face, noticing how one of the stars seemed to glow brighter than all the others, and she would smile at the thought of her late fiance watching over their small family from the other side of the veil.
‘I still miss you,’ she thinks to herself, ‘But I see so much of you in our daughter every day...You might not have known her, Saab, but I know you’d be proud.’ Brenda’s thoughts are broken by the giggles of her daughter, happily in the arms of her grandfather as he plays with her. She turns around and watches with a fond smile as her daughter smiles and laughs. ‘Keep watching over us, Saab,’ Brenda thinks as she watches the diverse family in the apartment, ‘I might still miss you, but I know that we’re supported by our family, and that means we’ll be okay.’
Brenda moves over to Ducky’s side, laughing as Sabrina excitedly babbles to her mother and rests in her grandfather’s arms comfortably. She leans back as she watches her family with a warm and fuzzy feeling, content in the knowledge that she and Sabrina would be well taken care of by the group in front of them.
Her family had never let her down before and she knew they never would as long as they drew breath, their protectiveness over her and Sabrina had been proven just a few days before when Otto’s accomplice in Saab’s murder, Joe, was found dead, shot through the heart by a single bullet.

Sabrina's Adventures Pt. 1: The (Future) Teenage Witch
The prologue can be found here!
I'm looking forwards to writing more of this series, to be honest. I've missed it.
On a windy night Brenda lays in her hospital bed, exhaustion and joy mixed with a feeling of sadness as she holds a small bundle in her arms.
“Welcome to the world, Sabrina,” she whispers, a sad smile on her face as she gazes at the one being that has kept her going throughout the grieving process, the one part of her late lover that she has left in this world.
She remembers finding out about Saab’s death, the exhausting rage and sadness that had claimed her soul until she had found a new reason to live.
Sabrina had changed her life in ways that Brenda never expected, a joy had overtaken her soul from the moment that Sabrina had first kicked. Of course, with the news of her pregnancy came a fear from the worry of having Saab’s killer on the loose.
Saab had been murdered a month before she had found out about her pregnancy, the news having lit a fire in her heart as she began to search for his killer with a terrifying sort of joy. It turns out that she only had to go to Tony to find out the killer’s identity, he had been simply waiting for her to ask.
“I thought you’d never ask,” he stated with a smirk, accented voice vaguely touched by a sad tone.
Brenda huffed as she stared at Tony, a glare swiftly removing the smirk from his face. “Well, Tony? Who is it?”
Tony sighed with a heavy expression, “Otto Delmar,” he had stated. “He’s never quiet, Brenda. He always talks. He’s been boasting about it to everyone who would listen, and in Los Santos that’s a lot of people. Word gets around quickly.”
Brenda had nodded, a serious expression falling into place for a moment before she smiled, mask automatically coming into place as she swiftly changed the topic under Tony’s suspicious gaze.
It had only taken a month for her to set up a trap for Otto Delmar.
“He’s so easy,” Brenda had complained to Tori with an eye roll, “He doesn’t think anymore, there’s really no challenge in killing him.”
Tori laughed with a smug smirk on her face, “Are you surprised? He was stupid enough to think that he could get away with taking down Saab and bragging about it for anyone who wanted to listen.”
Brenda had laughed, simply curling into the opposite end of the couch and gently poking Tori’s bare thigh with her cold feet, receiving a yelp in return. Soon enough, the only thing echoing through the house that she and Saab had once shared was laughter.
The execution went smoothly, a simple shot through the stomach being enough to satisfy Brenda’s wish for vengeance. She had let the boys handle the rest, simply turning to Tori after handing over the pistol and walking away without another word.
For Sabrina, it would have to be enough.
Now, on a windy October night, Brenda lays in her hospital bed with a small bundle in her arms, the baby already taking after her father in her features as she sleeps soundly after her earlier feeding.
“Hey there, Brenda,” comes a bright voice, hushed for fear of waking the precious baby in Brenda’s grasp. Ducky walks in, a fond smile on his face for the baby he considers his granddaughter as he quietly walks into the room.
Brenda smiles with exhaustion at the sight of her father figure, “Hey dad,” she says with a slight giggle. “Checking on Sabrina again, hmm?”
Ducky laughs before he could catch himself, a guilty smile overtaking his face as he shrugs, not even bothering to try to make an excuse for wanting to visit his granddaughter. “Of course, didn’t you know? It’s a grandfather’s duty to--”
“To take advantage of his job to visit his granddaughter on the day where no visitors are allowed.” Brenda finishes as she hands over Sabrina to her grandfather, smiling as she watches the baby stir in response to the slight movement before swiftly being soothed by Ducky.
“Well, can you blame me?” Ducky says without the slightest hint of guilt in his voice, a smile on his face as he visibly softens, clearly already taken by the baby in his arms.
Brenda laughs as she watches the soft scene, her expression falling for a moment when she remembers that her lover will never get to see his child grow or hold their child in his arms. I’ll be okay, she thinks to herself with a sad smile before returning to the present moment, allowing the joy from the scene to take over her. We’ll be okay, Saab. Just you watch.
And so they were.

Prologue to Sabrina's Adventures: In the Aftermath
This is the prologue to a series which I wrote and I am probably going to continue. This is a super sweet series IMO, but I kind of want to see how it unfolds. What are your thoughts?
It was a lovely spring day when Brenda discovered she was pregnant, the news from Ducky sending grief and joy through her in equal measures at the thought of a piece of Saab still being with her.
It was a month after his death and Ducky had strong-armed Brenda into getting tests run at the hospital after noticing symptoms of pregnancy. With his thoughts confirmed he had immediately contacted Tori, Brenda’s best friend who had been a rock since his death at the hands of Otto Delmar, who took Brenda home in her shocked state.
Tony and Lang were shocked at the news of Brenda’s pregnancy, Lang defaulting to staying far away from the woman who was with his close friend as Tony grew more overprotective, hovering over Brenda and catering to her every need. Tony and Tori had to feed Brenda for the first week, the shock of Saab’s recent death and the news of the unexpected pregnancy overwhelming her.
Something snapped within Brenda during the next week, a picture of Otto Delmar flashing onto the news broadcast that she was watching as she saw him talking about his new business with a smile on his face. A new form of panic settled in her, causing her to sit up in alarm and cause the whispering from Tony and Tori to stop as they suddenly became alert.
“What’s wrong?” asked Tori, concerned expression turning to an enlightened one as she looked at the TV and saw the familiar face smiling as he spoke. Tony’s expression turned from concerned to bloodthirsty once he saw the man who murdered his close friend, his thoughts turning murderous and his hand clenched into a fist as he itches to pull his gun and shoot the bastard who, although unknowingly, made Brenda a single mother.
Brenda’s gaze turns from panicked to defensive as she rests her hands over her still flat stomach, rage replacing fear as she imagines Otto walking free, coming back to finish off the last of Saab’s bloodline. Her face finally settled into a determined expression before she looked at Tony, his expression seeming to match hers as their thoughts turned to murderous plans for Otto.
“I already have a plan in place,” Tony said with a grim face, “it’s all set up for next week.”
Brenda nodded, content and comfortable with following Tony’s plan automatically as she had since he had taken her into his home, had protected her and her unborn child and refused to leave her side.
“I’ve thought about what will happen next, Tony. I...I appreciate what you and Tori have done for me but I think it’s for the best that the baby and I disappear for a while before coming back, stronger than ever and less vulnerable,” says Brenda. She watches as Tony and Tori nod silently, agreeing with her decision.
Tony stands with a sigh, walking over to crouch in front of Brenda with a solemn expression on his face. “I understand...Do you have anywhere to go? If not, we can find a place easily.”
Brenda nods with a small smile on her face, “Saab and I-” she stops herself with a deep and shuddering breath before continuing. “Saab found a little cottage that he bought on the coast of a small town, a remote location with three bedrooms and a lovely town. We were going to go there after we got married…” Brenda’s voice trailed off into silence as a wistful smile settled onto her face before it was tinged by sadness at the reminder of what she had lost.
Tori took Brenda’s hand, holding it tightly as if unwilling to let go of her best friend and sister. “You’re not alone, Brenda,” Tori said with a soft tone in her voice as Tony settled on Brenda’s other side and took her other hand, “We’re here for you, both of you.”
The next week passed in the blink of an eye, a week of quietly preparing for the execution of Otto Delmar with Tony, Tori, Lang, and Ellie. The choice of weapon was simple, a pistol would be easy to dispose of and use. The plan for kidnapping Otto was also simple, they would easily catch him at his home before Lang and Ellie would drop him off at the dock.
Brenda’s part was simple, she would shoot Otto as he had shot her late fiance, the father of her child. She would leave a week after the shooting of Otto Delmar before anyone caught wind of her pregnancy. The cottage was perfect for her baby and her family, with room for Tori and Tony to visit whenever they wished.
A month after settling into the small cottage on a rocky coast, Brenda stands on the edge of the small dock with a smile as she waves at the swiftly disappearing boat that houses Tony and Tori, their most recent visit having come to an end after a week together. Her baby bump had started growing only slightly, enough to be noticed by her friends much to their excitement.
Brenda felt anticipation and sorrow mixed into every day that she spent in her new home, a lovely garden having been planted by herself and Tori as she contemplated on what to do. She had obviously quit her paid position at the hospital, choosing to instead stay at home with her baby for the safety of both of them.
“I’ve made the right decision,” she thinks to herself with a small smile, hand on her gently swelling belly as she looks at the beautiful sky as the stars begin to emerge. Brenda walks over to her garden and sits on the small wooden bench that she had chosen with Tony’s help, both he and Tori had helped with every step in decorating the house and making arrangements for a successful move.
“After everything,” Brenda whispers to her baby, “we’ve made it this far, little one. We’ll be alright.” As she gazes at the moon she smiles, content with the choice she has made, and the future ahead of her.

Healing Words
This is part 3, would you like to go back to part 1 or part 2?
When doctor Isaac Smith, née Bones, had first met Brenda Pancake, he had offered her a job as his assistant. He never expected to become attached to her, to become her friend much less a father figure who thought of her as a daughter. He doesn’t remember when he started becoming close to her, her presence thawing some of the ice in his heart as they grew closer.
He doesn’t remember when he started thinking of her as a daughter, only realizing that he thought of her that way when she first told him that she thought of him as a father. He had begrudgingly admitted it to himself after she first called him ‘dad,’ his eyes widening in shock as he blankly watched her run away from the reception desk, oblivious to his shock at the words she had spoken so casually.
He doesn’t remember specifically when Brenda stopped smiling, but he does remember when he realized he hadn’t seen her smile in a while. Her smiles, although rare, were fairly regular whenever one of her ‘dads’ were in the hospital, her face lighting up from behind the desk whenever she saw or spoke with them. They had stopped appearing more and more often, the occasional smile obviously fake even to the socially inept doctor.
He had only mentioned it to the other doctors, Brenda’s other dads, when they had mentioned her wellbeing.
“I have been a bit...concerned, recently,” he said calmly, gaze revealing concern that alarmed the other men before they sighed almost simultaneously, shoulders drooping in a posture of defeat as they accept what they had been denying all of these weeks.
Brenda was not alright, they knew. They had known it for weeks, had seen her sad expressions whenever she thought they weren’t looking. The sad expression would quickly turn into a smile when she noticed their concerned gazes, although the smile clearly appeared fake to the group of fathers who knew her so well.
With stern gazes they tried to confront her about the situation, pressing her in their concern as they tried to find a solution to her anxiety and depression. No matter how much they pushed, she never gave in and answered. Instead, she seemed to withdraw into her shell and push them away.
They had become frustrated but stopped pushing out of concern for her safety, instead they observed her and noticed that she would act oddly around Saab and avoid all questions or matters concerning him.
This was unusual for their daughter. Normally she was bright and talkative, never pausing to take a breath when she had something to say. The opinionated woman no longer spoke as often, her words coming out slowly and every word seemed to drain her of her energy, her shoulders slumping as she would speak to them in an exhausted tone, her skin pale and dark circles under her eyes.
Her defeated posture had become the norm, an exhausted expression seeming to make her appear smaller than normal. Her figure had always been petite, but now it was practically skeletal with her lack of appetite. Lunch and dinner had become rare occurrences, her appetite had seemed to fall as she threw herself into her work with a vigor to be admired in most circumstances.
Her skeletal figure had caught their attention, worry for her increasing as they watched her practically waste away. Ducky and King were furious in their concern, openly threatening to force her to eat. It was only by their threats that they even made her eat the occasional dinner, glares punctuating their heavy words and cutting her deep.
Finding her on the floor that day, surrounded by empty bottles and appearing as pale as death, had scared Isaac. He hadn’t been scared often, he mostly provoked fear. The emotion was a bit of a shock to him, his heart skipped a beat as he stared at Brenda’s pale and seemingly unmoving form.
Her skeletal figure seemed to accentuate the situation in its dramatic nature. Despite the warning signs, Isaac had never quite thought of this scenario. He had snapped out of his stupor at Ducky’s movements, Swiftly following him with hesitant steps, anticipating what he might find when he approaches her still form.
He releases a breath he didn’t know he was holding when he finds her breathing, the breaths steady but shallow in their nature. Isaac then noticed her red and puffy eyes, the tears having seemed to outline their path with her mascara. His first thoughts were concern, rage coming to the forefront of his mind after they had helped her to her bed.
“What the hell happened?” Isaac hisses to Ducky, anger clear in his voice as his previously suppressed anger emerges after his concerns and fears had been eased, his anger fueled by his worry for the unconscious girl.
Ducky’s heavy sigh was his response, his downcast expression accentuating the vague action and only making Isaac more suspicious.
“Well,” Isaac says with a glare at Ducky, “Spit it out.”
Ducky looks at Isaac with a steely gaze, preparing himself for Isaac’s response to the situation that Saab had put himself and Brenda in.
“Saab…” Ducky begins with a deep breath, “Saab cheated on Brenda.”
“What?!” Isaac hisses, his words holding untold amounts of rage and his eyes widened in shock and rage. “What do you mean that Saab cheated on her? Who with?”
Ducky responds in a calm voice, anger and worry showing through his eyes as thoughts of the broken girl in the other room haunt him. “Erin,” he says simply. It is enough for Isaac.
“Erin? Erin Cox?” Isaac’s voice raises in his anger before he is quieted by Ducky, Ducky’s worry of waking Brenda trumping his fear of Isaac.
Isaac sighs in frustration as he quiets down with no argument, not wanting to wake the sleeping girl who clearly needs the rest so badly.
“Why would he cheat on Brenda with an idiot like Erin?” Isaac asked harshly, his words holding a sharp edge to them that felt dangerous. It was at times like these that his friends knew how dangerous Isaac could be.
Ducky’s face hardens into a neutral mask, unwilling to show his nervousness at the situation. “Your guess is as good as mine,” he replies, “we both know she’s an idiot. Now it’s just confirmed that he is as well.”
Isaac nods with a scowl as he thinks of Saab and what he would like to do to him, how he would love to see Saab’s life crumble to the ground, how he would like to hear his screams ring out. After a moment he is broken out of his thoughts by the quiet third party in the room who speaks from the chair where he has been watching.
“You’re telling me,” King says with a rough edge in his voice, a growl present in his words as he speaks with clear and quiet anger, “that Saab cheated on Brenda. With Erin, of all people?”
The other men simply sigh with anger and frustration, Ducky nodding as Isaac huffs out a breath while hanging his head.
It’s with a series of harsh curses that King gets up from the chair he had been residing in to pace in the small living area, unable to remain still in his anger and anxiety.
“How could he do this to Brenda?” King says with a hint of disbelief in his voice, unable, or perhaps unwilling, to accept the situation.
Isaac feels his fists clenching involuntarily for a moment before he stops himself from digging his nails into the palm of his hands. The tension in the air was palpable, anger and hostility towards Saab hanging over the group of men like a storm cloud.
They were all agreed on what would happen. A wordless agreement had been made by the men as they stood in the apartment with Brenda sleeping in the next room over, the silence only being disturbed by a whimper from her room.
Ducky got up immediately with King following soon afterwards, both of them choosing to focus on Brenda in order to soothe her.
Isaac watched from his position, leaning against the door frame as the other men calm Brenda down, even in her sleep. His expression only darkens as he looks at the sad and depressed girl who lays on the bed, distressed even in her unconscious state.
He stands there with his decision made without question, watching over his daughter and his friends.
‘It’s truly a shame,’ Isaac thinks with a cold and hardened heart, ‘that Saab and Erin chose to mess with one of the only people I would protect.’
Saab would suffer, Isaac knew it with all of his being. He would start with Saab’s company and end with his life.
‘For now, however,’ he thinks to himself with a rapidly thawing heart that aches for the girl in front of him, ‘he will have to wait.’ Brenda would be his priority, making sure that she was alright and helping her heal would be his focus for now.
Another whimper breaks him out of his thoughts as he moves forward to comfort Brenda with his colleagues and his brothers. She swiftly calms down with all three of the men present, knowing she was safe even in her unconscious state.
And so they would protect her, they all knew without a doubt, until she was healed. And then, they all knew, Saab would burn.

Healing Smiles
This is part 2, care to go back to Pt. 1?
Andrew Ducksworth stands in the hospital ward as he finishes treating a patient absently, his mind running on autopilot in his exhaustion as he finishes up with another patient.
“Thanks baby!” Gladys calls out to Ducky as she walks away with a smile on her face, not minding his absent-minded response of a wave.
Ducky had been up the entire night by Brenda’s side, keeping vigil over the broken girl as she slept peacefully. His mind had been consumed with thoughts of rage and horror at the knowledge of Saab’s betrayal, how Brenda had been so broken when they found her.
Every time he closes his eyes he sees her broken form lying on the floor, tears running down her face and sobs emerging from her small form that was crumpled on the cold floor.
Brenda had not woken up when he left her bedside to go to the hospital for his shift, Kai taking his place by her bed instead. Even as he leaned onto the reception desk his thoughts were consumed with questions for Saab. Ducky’s rage had grown into a full blaze that he repressed for the moment, instead choosing to focus on Brenda and helping her heal.
“Hey Ducky, we’ve got another one,” Mari says as she brings in a familiar figure, “He crashed his car again, we’ve got another one coming too.”
Ducky follows Mari with blank eyes before she lays the man on the hospital bed, blinking as the man begins to speak nervously.
“H-hi Ducky,” Saab says with a wavering voice, eyes wide despite an attempt at an emotionless mask, his fear showing easily at the sight of the intimidating man.
Ducky’s eyes suddenly focus with the sound of Saab’s voice, anger rising before he calms himself, a cold expression falling over his face that makes Saab gulp nervously.
Ducky moves to treat Saab wordlessly, purposefully avoiding the normal anesthetic and moving straight to healing the wounds. If the bandages around Saab are a little tighter than normal, Saab doesn’t dare mention it. Saab’s face is drawn and pale as he doesn’t dare speak, not willing to risk the wrath of the doctor as he wraps the minor gashes and scrapes quickly.
Saab moves to get up when Ducky backs away, standing as Ducky watches him with ice-cold eyes and a gaze that seems to emulate daggers.
Ducky turns away from Saab with no comment, moving to his next patient with displeasure. The pink-haired girl greets Ducky with a cheerful tone, clearly oblivious to the nature of the situation they were currently in.
“Hi doctor Ducky, how are you?” greets Erin, a smile quickly falling from her face at Ducky’s cold reception and a confused look taking over.
“Is something wrong?” she asks, a worried and downcast look on her face as Ducky doesn’t answer her, healing her with a face made of stone and a silent look of disgust.
She turns to Saab confused, her brows furrowing as she takes in his fearful expression.
“What’s going on?” Erin asks Saab in an unusually serious tone of voice, dread filling her expression.
“What’s going on,” says Ducky with a deep and harsh tone, his voice cutting the pair like a knife, “is that you two disgust me.”
The words are spoken bluntly, making Saab and Erin flinch, Erin’s eyes widening before they narrow with anger, Ducky’s words enraging her.
“What the fuck do you mean we disgust you?!” spits Erin, anger clear in her voice as she rages at Ducky, “What did Saab or I ever do to--”
“You betrayed my daughter!” Ducky hisses, a dangerous edge in his smooth voice as his emotionless mask falls to reveal pure anger, his eyes flashing daggers at both Erin and Saab.
Erin looks bewildered, making Ducky scoff at her oblivious nature.
“What do you mean your daughter?” Erin asks, outrage gone from her expression and replaced with confusion at the unexpected words.
Saab sighs, hanging his head with a guilty expression, unable to meet Ducky’s piercing gaze that seems to ask a million questions all at once.
“I mean Brenda Pancake,” Ducky says bluntly, “my daughter.” He eyes Erin and Saab like two bugs he would particularly like to kill. “I’m not surprised you don’t know, Erin, Cross is right. You are a dumb bitch.”
Erin’s jaw is agape as she gasps, his words unexpected. “Brenda...Is your daughter?” she says, disbelieving tone in her voice.
“Brenda is my adopted daughter,” Ducky says with a cold expression, “She was also Saab’s girlfriend, but that’s over.”
Saab’s head snaps up, his eyes wide at Ducky’s last phrase. “W-what do you mean ‘was my girlfriend?’”
Ducky’s cold smile cuts him deep, “I mean ‘was,’ as in she isn’t your girlfriend anymore. You lost that right when you cheated with Erin, and I won’t let Brenda go to you if I have anything to say about it.”
Saab tries to speak, Erin’s face flushing as she looks at her feet, both of them obviously trying to come up with a defense for their actions.
“Before you ask, Saab,” says Ducky with that same cold smile, clearly enjoying watching the pair squirm, “Isaac and King know about it as well.”
Saab seems small in the moment, obvious shame in his facial expression as he hunches into himself as if to disappear.
Erin’s expression turns to confusion once more at the other two names, “What do they have to do with -- Oh…” she says, eyes widening as she processes the words and realizes what Ducky means, what her mistakes have resulted in.
Ducky takes out his phone with a smug smirk, opening a group chat and sending a quick message. He turns off the screen for less than a minute before it lights up, the message making him smile cruelly as he reads it.
“Don’t go anywhere,” he says before tucking his phone back into his pocket, “Someone else would like to speak with you.”
Saab and Erin freeze in their seated positions, Saab sitting next to Erin as if to use her as a shield. Ducky leans against the wall as he waits for the expected party to arrive, smiling broadly when he hears footsteps swiftly approaching a few minutes later.
“We came when we could,” says King to Ducky, his expression neutral but tinged with sadness. “We had to wait for back-up to arrive.”
Ducky’s face shows confusion as Isaac appears behind King, concern showing in his eyes as he looks for Brenda. “Where is she?” Ducky asks, almost frantic in his worry.
“We left her in the capable hands of Boba,” says King, laying a soothing hand on Ducky’s shoulder.
Isaac snorts, “You forgot to mention the three stooges as well,” he says with a roll of his eyes, “She was cracking a smile already when we left,” Isaac smiles for a very brief moment in relief as he thought back to the scene he had left behind, Ramee, Chang, and Vinny having barged into the apartment with the grace of a stampeding herd of elephants.
Saab’s concerned voice cuts into Isaac’s happy moment, bringing the cold expression back as he speaks, almost unable to help himself. “Who’s with her?” he asks, curiosity worming its way past his nerves. Saab regrets it instantly as he draws attention to himself, King and Isaac turning to look at him, judgement in their heavy stares.
With cold gazes they send chills down his spine, Isaac’s voice icy as he speaks.
“Why should I tell you?” he asks, watching with disgust as Erin touches Saab’s thigh in comfort, “You no longer reserve the right to even know where she lives, much less what she’s doing or who she’s with. You lost that right when you cheated on her.”
Saab’s face flushes as his mouth opens and closes, trying to find an argument. His eyes meet King’s for a moment as King looks at him with the gaze of a cold-blooded killer, making Saab’s blood run cold.
With a sigh King leans on the wall, breaking eye contact with Saab and simply shaking his head in disappointment.
The silence rang through Saab’s ears like a death toll, louder than shouting as shivers run down his spine, the constant feelings of guilt and shame circulating through him with each breath.
With the heavy gazes of the three fathers on him, Saab stands suddenly, knocking Erin’s hand away from his thigh as he quickly walks out of the room, Erin following closely behind him with a confused look on her face.
Ducky turns with the other dads, the three doctors shadowing Saab and Erin as they walk out of the hospital. Saab turns when he gets to the hospital doors, sparing a sad glance towards the empty spot behind the reception desk before focusing on Ducky, King, and Isaac as they stand in front of him.
The three men, imposing even when not enraged, seemed to tower over Saab with icy gazes and faces seemingly set in stone.
Saab thought that he was looking at the angels of death as he took in the sight of all three men standing together. Ducksworth stands imposingly in the middle of the other two men, towering over them and laying a dark gaze on Saab. Ducksworth was no longer the friend he had been to Saab before, and Saab knows that it’s his own fault.
Saab couldn’t take his eyes off of the intimidating group of men, Isaac giving him a look made of ice, Saab knows that Isaac would like to kill him as he stares down Saab. Isaac’s shorter stature does not make him any less intimidating, his eyes showing no emotion as he looks at Saab with no emotions other than all-consuming rage burning in his eyes.
King...King was the worst of them all to Saab, the man he considered a valued friend and almost as a father figure clearly upset with Saab. Saab feels shivers run down his spine as he stands paralyzed under his gaze. No longer was King his friend, the doctor who would heal his wounds whenever he got injured with a smile and a friendly conversation. Saab had wondered how King could ever kill someone, the neutral look on his face typically broken by a laugh or a sarcastic comment. Now, looking at him, Saab knows that his once-friend would kill him where he stands if he had the chance.
With wide eyes he looks over the group of men, their dark gazes making it clear of his fate at their hands. Saab hangs his head for a moment, resolving himself to his fate before turning away from the group without a backwards glance as he climbs into the waiting Porsche, white with a pink sheen.
The group of fathers watch the car drive away before their masks fall, revealing tired faces as they turn to face each other.
“So,” Ducky comments, a worried expression on his face, “How is she, really?”
King exchanges a glance with Isaac before sighing, “She really did wake up, she is doing much better than she was when we found her.”
“Not that it’s hard for her to be better,” Isaac says with a scowl on his face, thinking of how they had found her. The expression on his face turns soft as he thinks of the sight he had left behind at the small apartment.
Boba had been called in by King when they had received word from Ducky of the traitorous couple being in the hospital at the moment, he and Isaac not wanting to leave Brenda alone but not willing to miss the opportunity to confront the pair. Brenda had woken up an hour earlier, even if she hadn’t spoken, simply being handed a bottle of water by Isaac and drinking it obediently.
She had been startled out of her silence when Boba arrived, her friend hugging her at the first opportunity.
“B-Boba?” she asked, voice wavering at the embrace of her friend.
“Yeah, Brenda? I’m just here to take over for your dads while they go take care of something really quickly,” Boba quickly responded, a smile on his face as he spoke.
Brenda sniffled and nodded before standing on shaky legs, moving towards Isaac and King and hugging them both individually. They help her to the couch with gentle hands, helping support her as she sits down on the small sofa and they cover her with a plush blanket.
“We’re just a phone call away, okay Brenda?” says King, Isaac nodding behind him nonchalantly in agreement. Brenda nods with a smile before her attention is stolen by the sound of knocking on her apartment door.
King moves to the door with narrowed eyes and a protective posture, Isaac remaining by Brenda’s side as they carefully shield her from the door.
‘Just in case,’ they tell themselves, both of the overly-protective fathers not wanting to relive the sight of finding her broken on her kitchen floor.
King only relaxes once he opens the door to reveal three very worried men waiting, only able to step to the side to avoid being trampled as they run into the apartment.
“Brenda!” shouts Vinny, Ramee echoing his call as they run into the living room, the only thing stopping them from tackling her being King’s hand as he grabs and holds onto the back of their shirts, stopping them in their tracks.
“If you stress her out, I’ll kill you,” he says simply, making their eyes widen at the normally cool and collected doctor’s threat. They nod and he releases them, clamoring over each other to get to Brenda as she watches them with wide eyes.
“H-hello,” says Brenda quietly as they approach, the sight of her stopping them in their tracks.
Her face was still puffy from crying and red from sleep, her skin paler than normal from lack of food. With unusually gentle hands and soft voices, Vinny and Ramee start fussing over her as Chang slowly walks into the room, calm as can be.
“Vinny, Ramee, shut the fuck up,” Chang says with a straight face, “Brenda, now we can finally be together!” Brenda’s face shows a small smile at the silly statement, making the worried fathers let out a breath as they sigh in relief.
Isaac tugs all three men away from Brenda for a moment, pressing a kiss to her forehead before walking away without another word, King following with a hug goodbye.
They walk out the door without a glance behind them, trusting in the crowd of men to cheer her up as they walk next door.
They exchanged looks as their gazes turned into ice, walking into the hospital and anticipating the confrontation that would occur.
Afterwards they walk back to Brenda’s apartment with anxious and heavy hearts after seeing Saab and Erin together, excited to get back to their daughter. They open the door to reveal the sound of soft laughter, music to their ears as Brenda laughs, walking into the living room to reveal the four men around her, a smile on her face as they make jokes and argue with each other.
She looks at her fathers with a wide smile and a happy wave, making all of them smile as they look at the happy scene.
With happy laughter and smiles, a warm and happy atmosphere in the room despite the unpleasant events of just a couple days previous, the three dads take a sigh of relief as they survey the ongoing chaos.
They had found a broken girl just the night before and had been worried about what they would come back to.
The sight of her smile and the sound of her laughter ease their hearts and their minds. With the sight etched into their memories they walk towards the couch, smiling as they approach the happy scene.
With the sight they know that this is a step in the right direction, a step towards helping her heal.

Healing Hands
Pt. 1 to a subseries following the Heart series, found on my masterlist
It has been a day since Ducky had last seen his daughter, four hours since Isaac was asked about her whereabouts by a concerned Tori, an hour since King had been called by a frantic Karen as she searched for Brenda.
The team of dads had conferred with one another when they realized that their daughter was missing, both Isaac and King mentioning it to Ducky in passing.
Ducky’s first reaction had been to call Saab and ask if he had known where Brenda was. A heavy sigh had left Saab’s mouth at the question, Ducky’s eyes narrowing with the ominous response.
“What did you do?” Ducky asked in an impatient tone, his anger rising and clear to hear in his voice, “Where is my daughter?”
Saab’s gulp was audible, a guilty silence seeming to fill the pregnant pause as Ducky quickly lost his patience, his voice growing more quiet and his tone sending a chill down Saab’s spine as he spoke in an ominous tone.
“Tell me, now,” Ducky said.
Saab slowly started speaking, voice wavering with nerves. “I-I did something really stupid,” he said with a guilt ridden tone.
“You didn’t,” Ducky said with an angry tone, shock and denial coming through in equal measure. He quickly hung up, running the short distance from the empty hospital rooftop to Brenda’s apartment, not noticing as King and Isaac joined him, concerned expressions on their faces.
He stopped in front of her door, taking his keys in steady hands and unlocking the door with the spare key that had been given to him.
“Just in case,” Brenda had said with a happy smile, a smile he hadn’t seen in a few weeks. He had noticed, along with the other dads, when Brenda had absorbed herself in her work, his questions about her dates with Saab going unanswered as she immediately looked away, a sad and drawn look settling onto her face as she simply shook her head and walked away.
Isaac and King had noticed her overworking herself, Brenda even getting sick and working through her illness with a mask covering her nose and mouth, a pair of latex gloves over her small hands.
They had been worried when receiving the calls of Brenda’s absence, even if they didn’t see her for a day then her friends normally would. Their concern had only grown when seeing Ducksworth run past them, an increasingly concerned and angry expression on his face as he rushed towards Integrity without sparing either of them a glance.
King and Isaac had simply looked at each other, a heavy feeling in their guts as they followed him to Brenda’s apartment door.
Isaac’s first reaction to seeing Brenda’s once-tidy apartment was to wrinkle his nose at the smell. The smell of alcohol was prominent in the apartment and it was clear why once he walked in with the other dads.
“What the fuck,” King whispered as his eyes travelled over the spacious apartment as they walked towards the kitchenette.
They never expected the sight before them, horror settling over all of their faces as they stood frozen in the archway. Alcohol bottles littered the floor, a crumpled figure laying between the empty glass bottles catching them off guard.
“Brenda?” whispers a horrified Ducky, his body almost automatically moving to kneel down next to the girl he refers to as his daughter, the girl he holds precious and close to his heart.
He hesitantly reaches forward, gently pushing the hair back from her face.
“Brenda…?” he asks with a catch in his voice, catching himself as he almost falls over in shock at the sight of her tear-streaked face, marred by blurred make-up and puffy eyes.
Isaac is the next to approach, his years of experience coming into play as he withholds a gasp at the sight of Brenda, her skin pale and her body unusually still. Her shaky breaths were the only sign of life, the three doctors taking comfort in the fact that she was still breathing.
“Brenda, sweetheart?” asks King as he approaches without a second thought, his brow furrowing in concern as he reaches past Isaac and Ducky to gently touch her shoulder.
It’s only then that Brenda stirs, her puffy red eyes looking up at her pseudo fathers with confusion.
“Brenda, what happened?” asks King with a concerned tone of voice, his hand still resting on her shoulder as he crouches beside her.
It’s only a moment after the question that Brenda begins to cry, tears pouring down her face and dry, painful sounding sobs emerging from her petite form as she curls into a small ball on the floor, pulling away from King’s hand as she starts shaking. Her small form makes for a sad picture, the typically energetic girl sobbing in a heap on her kitchen floor, the cold tile leaving marks on her skin as she lays there.
Ducky reaches forward hesitantly, rubbing Brenda’s back with a paternal hand as his concern grows for his daughter. He’s shocked when Brenda sits up with obvious effort, collapsing with her head on his lap as she begins to cry harder, painful sounding sobs coming from her raspy and obviously dry throat.
Isaac’s concern grows as a few minutes pass, Brenda’s heaving figure a shock to the normally emotionless man. She had been his weak spot since the first time she told him that she thought of him like a father, his face normally turning into a small smile whenever he thinks of the precious moment in time.
At the moment his only thoughts were of Brenda, his once-happy daughter clearly broken down and feeling defeated.
King reaches out to run his hands through Brenda’s hair in comfort, ignoring the smell of the alcohol in his concern. His anger grows quickly, along with his concern, for the girl that they all consider their daughter. His voice comes out with a dangerous edge as he speaks, his accent thicker than normal with his heightened emotions.
“Brenda,” he speaks with a harsh edge to his normally soft tone, “What happened?”
Brenda sits up with a heavy heart, looking at Kai with a sad expression as she shakes her head, the tears stopping even as she stops sobbing, having cried so much that she ran out of tears.
It’s with a resigned sigh that Isaac silently stands, getting a bottle of water from the fridge and opening it for Brenda, holding it out to her without another word.
Brenda reaches out with a trembling hand, grasping the bottle of water and hesitantly bringing it to her lips, taking a small sip that makes her cough as she chokes on it.
The air is hard for her to breathe, her labored breaths audible. Her eyes are dry despite her recent tears, the weight in her stomach making it hard to move as she leans against the counter behind her, hugging herself as she closes her eyes, wishing she was simply dreaming.
Ducky speaks to Brenda in a gentle tone of voice, sadness audible as he speaks. “Brenda, honey, what’s wrong?”
Brenda lifts her head, averting her gaze from her fathers as she takes a sip of cold water, the normally refreshing liquid burning like sandpaper down her raw throat.
She takes a deep and shaky breath before she speaks, her shaky and raspy voice taking her fathers aback. “It’s Saab--” she says before her breath catches, her hushed voice full of clear denial as she tries to avoid the truth.
“What about Saab, honey?” asks Ducky with a gentle and concerned tone of voice, laying a strong and comforting hand on her shoulder. “Did something happen?”
“Brenda, sweetheart,” Kai says with a thickened accent, a hand still absently running through her hair in a comforting gesture, “What’s wrong? Please talk to us.” Worry is evident in his voice as he speaks, his breath catching in his throat as seconds pass without an answer, her head hanging once more, Brenda drawing her knees to her chest in an attempt to hide her pained expression.
Isaac’s voice is full of rage and concern as he speaks in a louder tone than normal, his normally gentle tone cutting the air like a knife. “Brenda,” he says sternly, making Brenda flinch as she looks up at Isaac with widened eyes, “What’s happened?”
Brenda takes another sip of water as she tries to avoid answering, a stern glare from Isaac finally drawing an answer from her.
“Saab and Erin-” she tries to speak, her hand shaking before she puts down the bottle of water, her voice caught in her throat.
Ducky’s eyes narrow as his fists clench for a moment, anger appearing in his expression. “Did he cheat on you, Brenda?” he asks bluntly, his expression turning stone cold with her nod of affirmation.
“Fuck,” says King as he removes his hand from Brenda’s hair, quickly getting up and clenching his fists in anger. The very thought was shocking to him, he had noticed Brenda drawing back into her shell but he hadn't expected this to be the reason for it.
Isaac’s face turned into an emotionless mask at her confirmation of the situation before he puts on a neutral mask, walking over to King and laying a hand on his shoulder before withdrawing it quickly and walking back over to Brenda’s side, holding out a hand.
Brenda looks at the offered hand with sad eyes, taking it with a shaky and weak grip. Ducky takes her other hand, supporting her with a hand behind her back as she stands up.
Her legs are weak and shaky, Brenda collapsing into Isaac’s arms with the strength of a fawn as she trembles. Isaac’s eyes widen in shock for a moment before his eyes close, hesitantly wrapping his arms around her as she leans onto him.
With the support of her dads, Brenda makes her way to her bedroom. They lead her step by step with gentle hands, catching her whenever she falters. They help her sit on her bed before King and Isaac split up, Isaac grabbing the make-up removing wipes from her bathroom while King rustles through her dresser carefully, pulling out a pair of pajamas for her and placing them on the bed beside her.
Ducky sits in front of her with dark eyes, concerned for her as he holds her hand with a gentle but firm grip. He gives her hand a squeeze once the wipes and pajamas are laid next to her, the men shuffling out with concerned glances directed towards Brenda as they leave her to get dressed.
After closing the bedroom door, Ducky meets the gazes of Kai and Isaac with a calm rage burning in his eyes. “We need to take care of her, then we can handle him.”
The quiet words cause the other doctors to nod, grim expressions on their faces at the truth, all three doctors knowing what has to occur.
All of them know that Brenda is their first priority. Her health, her safety, is important to all of them, but they had warned Saab about what would happen if he did something like this.
The door creaks open to reveal Brenda with a bare face, dressed in her pajamas with tear-filled eyes as she looks at the three men who would protect her with their lives, their expressions turning soft as they look at their daughter and all move to comfort her, Kai reaching out to bring her into a comforting hug as her tears fall once more.
Kai presses a soft kiss to the top of Brenda’s head before looking at the other men, a cold and rage-filled expression taking over his face as she weakly wraps her arms around his waist, her thin arms shaking as she tries to hold him in return.
His expression turns soft once more as he looks down at the girl in his arms, choosing to focus on her rather than his rage.
All three men know that they want to kill Al Saab, make him pay for what he has done, but first they have to make sure that Brenda is alright. All three men focus on Brenda for the moment, helping her back to bed and tucking her in, Ducky sitting next to her and simply holding her hand as Kai and Isaac watch from two chairs they dragged into the room.
Brenda will have to face the music tomorrow, she knows, but she already feels better in the presence of the people that she knows, instinctively, will never betray her like Saab did. With healing hands and time, she will be better. She falls into a dreamless sleep with an aching heart, surrounded by people who love her.

Pt. 3 of the Heart Series: A Healing Heart
By Bunny and Fyenrir
Light filtered into the once tidy apartment of one Brenda Pancake, it slowly but surely travelled towards her sleeping form. Brenda was passed out from yet another night of excessive drinking.
The ray of light shone directly on her face, eliciting a myriad of complaints from Brenda.
Sluggishly she dragged herself out of bed, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
Brenda looked at her phone, “5 missed calls from Saab.” She tossed it back on the bed and turned away. Ever since that day where she witnessed him kiss Erin, she hadn't replied to a single call or text he sent.
She had spent the last night with Tori and Freya at Bahama Mama's, trying to numb the constant aching pain that had been afflicting her for the past week. Her close friends had gathered around her and provided her with the strength she needed to function day to day.
As close to scandals came, this was one that shocked most people. Some even doubted her calling Brenda insecure and jealous.
Freya had drunk dialled Saab the night before and began a tirade that lasted half an hour, labelling him with names like “Scum of the earth” and “cheating no good bastard.” Tori chose to remain a consoling friend by matching her shot for shot till they were both so intoxicated they had to call Ellie for a lift.
After Ellie had dropped off her friends at their respective homes, despite their protests to Brenda, she dropped Brenda off with one simple comment, “Call me if you need anything, Brenda.”
Brenda didn’t respond, simply attempting a weak smile as she stumbled into her apartment. She stumbled over to the dresser for clothes to wear to bed, grabbing an oversized shirt and changing into it. She felt defeated, tired after a week of drinking and questioning herself. ‘Why wasn’t I enough?’ she would ask herself as she cried, ‘Why am I never enough?’
Her only company had been her cats and her ‘fathers,’ the doctors taking turns coming over in an arranged rotation, bringing her food. They had done that since the second day after she caught Saab kissing Erin, having heard people talk about how they saw her crying in the rain on her way back to her apartment that fateful day.
At first they were confused by the entire situation, knowing almost nothing and unable to find out anything. When they opened her apartment door with a spare key, they were shocked to find Brenda surrounded by empty bottles of alcohol on the floor, passed out with tear marks visible on her cheeks.
King was incensed at Saab, he had destroyed any trust that Kai had placed in him. When Saab came to the hospital the first few times trying to apologize, King was there acting as her shield from him. Torah, however, acted completely indifferent to Brenda, stating that she was never good enough for her brother.
The boys from the Chang Gang visited her daily trying to brighten up her day with their loony antics.
Buddha and Tony had dropped by a few times and apologized on behalf of Saab for his behaviour, clearly uncomfortable with the situation and how Saab had acted. Brenda hadn’t responded to them, simply staring at them and then looking out the window, her eyes brimming with tears.
For the first half of the week she had been nearly catatonic other than that first day when her dads rolled in and made her cough up the truth about the situation. They were in disbelief when she told them, having never expected Saab to cheat.
Ducksworth had been the most protective ever since, barely leaving her apartment or her side except to get a few changes of clothing to last the week. He stayed with her and slept on her couch before going to work each day, finding himself feeling more worried and vigilant than before.
“I can’t believe you did this to her,” Ducky said to Saab when he tried to visit her. “You don’t have that right anymore. Besides, even if she asked to see you, I wouldn’t let you in.”
Isaac was the one who found the flowers for the first time, feeling only rage when looking at them and knowing who sent them. “I’m going to fucking kill him,” he hissed to King out of Brenda’s earshot. She had started tearing up again once they had brought them in to throw them away and Ducky had quickly moved to her side again, holding her and brushing away her tears in an attempt to comfort her.
One of the consolations was watching Vinny crush the Sandking. She had kept a shard of pink metal as a token to remember it by.
Brenda was conflicted. At times she hated Saab, hated herself, and at times she would go on without end thinking about him and the times they spent together.
Most of the time, she would remember the rain, the rain that brought them closer together as a couple and the rain that destroyed them. As the week went on, she had cried less and less, staring out the window and thinking to herself.
She thought about ‘Why would he do this? I thought he loved me, why would he do this to me? What did I do?’ And then one day it struck her like a thunderbolt.
She did nothing, she realized while eating dinner with Isaac and King. ‘Was it not my fault?’ she asked herself repeatedly. ‘No,’ she answered internally, sitting up and blinking in surprise for the first time since that day, ‘it wasn’t.’
Isaac and King were flabbergasted, shocked at the fact that she managed to sit up and express something other than sadness on her face. “Brenda?” they asked with shocked expressions, hope in their voices.
“Was it not my fault?” she whispered to herself, surprising them with her words. Their faces fell into sadness, clearly distraught by what she said.
“Sweetheart,” started King, “is that what you thought? That he cheated on you and it was your own fault?”
Brenda nodded, starting to cry again as she questioned herself again, ‘Was I wrong this entire time?’
That was two days ago. She had finally left her apartment with the help of Kai and Ducky, going down to the bank to get the money to pay off her Issi. She made them go to PDM for her, the memories there still too fresh and painful, but it was still progress.
Brenda had cried herself to sleep that night, looking at her phone and seeing a picture of Saab holding her on it. This morning she finally deleted it with the help of Karen. Karen came over to say that enough was enough, having not seen Brenda except for a small period of time in which she was unresponsive and only sobbed. Karen had seen Brenda stare at the picture and grabbed the phone, going through and deleting all of the pictures.
Brenda had gone with Tori only two hours ago to Saab’s house while he was out robbing a bank, simply putting her copy of his key on his kitchen counter and simply texting him, “I left your key at your house.” She felt tears welling up as they left but she pushed the urge to cry away. ‘I am stronger than this, he will not make me cry again.’
The orange hues of the sun was beginning to dip over the horizon. A lone figure stands alone at the peak of Mt. Chiliad, Brenda Pancake stood there taking in the view of the city that spread out below her.
She looked over the city, reminiscing of memories and of her relationship. ‘I loved him and he betrayed me,’ she thought again, ‘but I still made it through today.’
Brenda clutched at her necklace as she closed her eyes, taking a deep breath as she relived the past week in her mind. After hours, days, of crying to herself she had stopped. She knew she wasn’t at fault for her boyfriend cheating on her, she had realized it after days of wallowing and questioning herself.
‘It was his choice,’ she thought to herself as she felt the now-familiar ache in her chest, ‘And leaving him is my choice.’
She took a deep breath as she held up her phone, looking at the contact labelled Saab, hesitantly tapping on the text messages. She read the last text he sent, a last plea for her to come back to him. ‘Baby, I love you,’ he pleaded with empty words, ‘Please, don’t do this.’
With a breath she clicked on the phone symbol next to his contact name, hearing his desperate voice say her name as he picked up, “Brenda, finally, where are you?” he asked.
She barely heard him over the sound of her heart beating wildly in her chest, only knowing what she had to say.
“Saab, I deserve better than you,” she declared with an aching heart, twisting her necklace with her other hand. “I thought about it for the past week, I cried for the past week, and now I finally know.”
Saab had stopped talking, silent as he listened to her words with a heavy heart and that same dark feeling in his gut that Brenda felt when she found him and Erin together, knowing what was coming.
“I’m leaving you, Saab. I’m not coming back. I’m blocking your number, never contact me again,” she said with a trembling voice, fighting back tears with her determination. “Goodbye.”
And she hung up, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders that had been there without her notice for the past week as she took deep breaths. Brenda finally realized, with a tender heart, that she felt strong.
She looked at her phone with one more deep, soothing breath as she felt her heart rate slow down, finally confident in her next choice. And with that, she blocked his number.
She turned her phone on silent, simply putting it back into her pocket and crossing her arms while looking at the sunset.
‘I know I may not be perfect,’ she thought to herself, ‘but I made the right choice today.’ And with a healing heart and another breath of the clear, cool mountain air, she felt the makings of a smile on her face.

Pt. 1 of the Heart Series: A Wavering Heart
By Fyenrir
It was a scorching summer day in the city of Los Santos. A man dressed in a powder blue silk shirt paired with a navy blue chinos paused to wipe the beads of sweat forming at his brow. ”Oyoyoyo, it sure is hot out here today,” he bemoans to nobody in particular.
Al Saab glances down at his new Cartier watch, still time to kill before his date with Brenda. It had been six months since he had started dating the sassy receptionist. Things were progressing well until the opening of Bad Boi Customs.
He was swamped with work, from organising manpower to meeting certain people of power he barely had any time for a few minutes alone with Brenda. Coupled with the influx of new citizens, she herself had no time to even respond to his calls. He still did jobs with his boys but they were growing few and far between. The moments he had to himself he spent whizzing down the freeway, however recently he had a new racing companion. Saab decided to ring her up.
“Hey Senpai, what’s up?” she sounded out of breath.
“Hey Erin, you down for a quick zip down to Paleto?”
“Sure, I’m just kinda running away from Alabaster.”
“What did you do now…” he asks, a tinge of concern in his voice.
“I tased him” is the reply.
Saab shakes his head in exasperation, they manage to meet up with not much hassle and soon the sight of two white Porsches are seen speeding down the highway.
Weeks flash by in a blink of an eye. The calls between Saab and Brenda have almost ceased, the food runs to Pillbox are now non-existent, questions about the discrepancy have begun to emerge from friends of both sides. Saab shrugs it off. He’s been having certain thoughts popping into his head recently. Erin was becoming more than a friend to him. The more time he spent with her, the more she grew on him. He recently had a quarrel with Brenda about him being distant. Deep down he knew he loved Brenda, but the possibilities kept creeping into his head like a pesky fly.
Saab crouched down behind the wall, bullets hammered the concrete dusting his hair white. Erin was opposite him in a similar position, her face contorted with a mixture of terror and anger. Saab took a quick peek and confirmed his suspicions, three men clad in green were spread out around the construction site. The Grove Street Family had finally decided it was time to act, Erin had told him about her gun trades with the Eastside Ballas and it seemed that the greens weren’t ecstatic about it.
He motioned with his hands to Erin, “stay,” he gestured, pointing downwards. She got the message and nodded.
Saab darted past the wall and a hail of bullets followed barely missing him by a sliver. He put momentum into his run and rolled towards the first green, Chef was surprised by the sudden movement that his mouth had barely formed an “O” when bullets skewered his head.
Saab, not wasting the element of surprise, turned towards the two remaining greens. He squeezed his trigger repeatedly, praying to God above that they meet their mark. Dex crumples to the floor in a heap, Saab keeps squeezing only to realise in horror that he’s out of ammo. Carter smiles at Saab’s predicament, raising his scorpion in an almost lazy like manner, so confident he was that he forgets one crucial detail.
“Hey,” Carter’s face looks almost crestfallen as he realizes his mistake. Slugs slam into his chest repeatedly, painting the floor around him crimson.
Erin stands behind him, the gun in her hand shaking. Saab runs towards her and subconsciously hugs her, ”Are you alright?” he checks her for any injuries.
“I’m fine.”
They look at each other, both suddenly aware of their closeness. He can’t help staring at her heart shaped face. She gazes up to him and leans in. They share a kiss. Rain begins to patter around them.
The rain reminded Saab of something but nothing comes to mind.

Another Life Good Ending
On a beautiful, sunny morning in a small coastal town, the sound of sirens rose into the air. Saab has Brenda wrapped in his arms, a blanket around her shoulders. Saab was covered in blood as he sat with Brenda on their small porch, both of them taking comfort in the other’s presence.
The night before had taken a toll on both of them, but Brenda most of all. They had never expected for their stalker to show himself in that way, having appeared seemingly out of thin air.
Saab was first alerted to a presence walking through the dark room when he heard a creaking, something had stepped onto a loose plank that he had been meaning to fix. He shot up, noticing immediately that Brenda was still fast asleep next to him in the bed. At first he wondered if he was just hearing things before noticing the shadowy figure slip into their small closet, clearly trying to hide from Saab’s line of vision.
Saab gently woke up Brenda, ushering her into the corner behind him as he reached under his bed for a Tec-9, the last gun remaining in his collection. He had brought it from Los Santos when they ran away, knowing that one day he could need it, would almost definitely need it. He had brought three clips with him to their new home, pulling out one precious clip and inserting it carefully, quietly, into the weapon.
Brenda was standing in the corner, watching with wide eyes as her husband loaded the weapon and shaking slightly as her eyes darted over to the closet, the open door catching her eyes. She let out a silent gasp as she spied a shadow moving in the moonlight, seeing the figure move around in the closet.
Saab took careful steps towards the open closet door, stepping around the weak spots on the floor to avoid catching the attention of the intruder. He silently moved to the open space in front of the closet door, cocking back his gun as he takes a deep breath, taking a confident stance as he takes aim at the empty space.
“Come on out, bitch,” says Saab in a confident and controlled tone of voice, “I’ve been expecting you.”
A haunting laugh can be heard now, coming from the closet as the shadowy figure steps into the moonlight once more with a sinister smile, knife in hand. “And yet you let me in,” he says, “An open window, an open invitation. Such a hostile welcome, did you never learn manners?”
Saab keeps a calm expression on his face as he calmly stares at their stalker, a heavy feeling settling into his gut as he places his finger on the trigger. “Oh, I learned manners,” Saab says, “They went out the window when you started stalking Brenda and I. Now, give me a reason to not blow your brains out right now.”
The stalker smiled, looking past Saab for a moment to look at Brenda, “Oh, hello Brenda,” he says, ”It has been a while. Well,” he laughs again, “For you. I’ve been watching.”
Saab’s expression darkens, “Look at me, not at her,” he says as his voice deepens in anger, “Now, once again, give me a reason to not pull the trigger.”
Anders smiles calmly, his gaze shifting back to Saab as he steps further into the beam of moonlight, silver gleaming in his hand under the pale moonlight catching Brenda’s attention as she gasps, covering her mouth with her hand as she watches the tense moment, staying in the corner of the room and carefully reaching out to grab the baseball bat kept in the room for emergencies like this one.
‘Just in case,’ Saab had said when they were packing their things in order to flee the country, ‘I’m sure we won’t need it.’ He had smiled soothingly, but Brenda didn’t believe him, knowing him too well. She knew this would happen, had expected it when they had found their first note, the first pictures left for them to find.
She wasn’t sure how to feel about this situation, torn between terror and anticipation as their stalker finally came out into the light. She was concerned for her husband, worried about his safety...For his life. All she could do was watch for the moment but, as she grasped the bat, she knew that she would be ready...Just in case.
She watches in silence as Anders, her stalker for the last two years, lunges at Saab with whispered unintelligible words, his eyes gleaming with ever-present madness. She watches with widened eyes as Saab pulls the trigger without hesitation.
Saab’s face is a cold mask, neutral as he watches the blood paint the walls, Anders’ face forever in a smile as he falls forward, knife still in hand and a hole in his chest. Saab’s expression changes as he turns around, feeling a small hand rest on his arm as Brenda approaches him, wrapping her arms around him in a sweet embrace, desperate to feel his body and know that they were both secure.
Saab’s outfit was covered with blood that both of them ignored in favor of each other’s comforting embrace. They moved to sit together after a while, both consumed with relief, it was finally over. The only time that they separated was when they heard a knocking at their front door, Saab wrapping a blanket around Brenda before getting up and opening the door.
Brenda couldn’t think, simply staring into the distance as she shivers from shock, not registering as the door opens and closes, people moving in and out of the room. She never noticed as Anders’ body was removed, nor did she notice the concerned looks and questions from the police officers.
She only broke out of her daze when Saab approached her, laying a gentle hand on her shoulder and softly calling out her name.
“We need to go outside, they need to take pictures,” he says with a tired smile as the officers move around them hurriedly, leading Brenda outside with a gentle tug on her hand. He brought her over to a quiet corner of the porch, a small piece of momentary solitude, and wrapped her up in the blanket once more. She shuffled closer to him, leaning into him as he wraps his arms around her with a kiss to the side of her head.
‘The sun has come out,’ Brenda thinks to herself with a small sigh of relief, a strange weight taken off of her shoulders. “We’re safe now,” she whispers to herself with a small smile.
Saab happily sighs, smiling as he hears Brenda’s words. “Yes, yes we are,” he says with a bit of a hysterical laugh, pulling her even closer as a shared smile grows across their faces.
Finally, after years of being hunted, they were safe. Finally, after last night, they were free.

Another Life
A year had passed since they had run away from Los Santos to a house by the sea, a year since they changed their lives completely.
Saab wakes up to the smell of eggs and bacon, a cup of coffee by his side of the bed. ‘Clearly Brenda is up already,’ he thinks with a laugh. The window in their bedroom was open, the curtains blowing in the wind.
He checks his phone with a smile, the smile fading into sadness as he looks at Tony’s latest twitter post, Tony and Tori had finally had their first child.
It was a shame they couldn’t know where he and Brenda were.
A year ago they had received word of an anonymous threat against Saab and Brenda, and a year ago Brenda had almost been killed after being shot from behind with a shotgun. The culprit was not caught, provoking Saab and Brenda to fake their deaths and run away with the help of Tony, Tori, and Buddha.
They hadn’t changed names, having moved to a small coastal town across the sea. They were living in a small cottage with a dog, having married while still living in Los Santos. They were married in a private ceremony, only their closest friends and family there.
Brenda and Saab were known in the area as the quiet couple, sticking mostly to themselves to keep each other safe. A year of daily exercise from walking everywhere had helped Brenda finally put on weight and she no longer had breathing problems from short walks.
Saab had always been worried about how thin she was and he was relieved.
They both knew how to cook now, being in a small town with no fast-food places or places to take food home. The only place around them was a small cafe for drinks and local dishes, so they made sure to know how to cook when they realized they were missing food from back home in Los Santos.
Getting out of bed, Saab doesn’t bother putting on a shirt as he walks out into the kitchen area of their small home and collapses into a dining chair with his cup of coffee, setting it aside and laying his head on the table with a sigh. He knew he wouldn’t be functional without two cups of coffee at the very least.
“Yah, babo, come help me cook breakfast!” says Brenda with a smile in her voice.
Sighing, Saab stands up and walks over to the stove, kissing Brenda in greeting and taking over, noticing her cup of coffee as she picks it up and gulps it down.
“Finally, lifeblood,” she says with a happy sigh as she refills the cup and sips at it again.
Saab smiles as he thinks back to two years ago when she didn’t smile to anyone in any situation, well, other than himself.
Small town life had changed the both of them, they were both more relaxed and comfortable in their new life. They no longer drove as there was no need for it, walking paths could lead them to wherever they needed to go. Their small town had a main road with a bus that came through twice a day as well, the only way in or out of the little town unless you want to walk.
Saab finished cooking breakfast in relative silence with Brenda nearby, occasionally touching her arm or taking another sip of coffee as she sat in a chair at their little table.
They quickly got plates out and placed the eggs and bacon on the plates, sitting down and eating in silence while both of them were still waking up. As they wake up, Brenda mentions a note that she found. “Those damn kids,”  she mentions with a laugh.
She shows the note to Saab as they eat and he skims over it quickly. ‘I’ll be seeing you soon,’ says the note. They think nothing of it, laughing it off.
They heard barking as they continued to eat, laughing as their dog rolled onto her back and begged for bacon. Sadly enough, all of Brenda’s cats were given to Tony and Tori to take care of when they left Los Santos. They were seniors and Brenda didn’t want to stress them out with the travelling.
Brenda and Saab washed their dishes and dressed for the day, Saab in a t-shirt and shorts while Brenda dressed in a casual sundress. They didn’t bother putting a leash on their dog, Rosemary, as they walked out of the door and directly onto the beach.
They were smiling and laughing as they talked, clearly having a good time.
They forgot that they closed the bedroom window last night.
They never realized that they were missing a knife from the kitchen.
Saab had been realizing that they were in danger again. He found the notes left on their door, had told Brenda about them. They weren’t too worried as the kids from nearby would occasionally play pranks, although never on this level.
They started to feel worried when they found the note on their pillows, stating that ‘I can’t wait to see you.’ They would go to the beach every morning to escape from the worries, just for a short time. They didn’t even feel that they were being watched during their walks.
They didn’t know they were being watched so closely.
They didn’t know that they could die tonight.
They didn’t know that tonight would change everything.
The night the person has been planning for a year. A year of waiting, a year of planning. They had found out the new location of Brenda and Saab a month ago through a private investigator and they were finally ready.
A year without spilling the blood of their targets was finally over.
And finally the night was here.

Daybreak
Summary: Tony and Saab had died two months beforehand in a sudden attack from Otto Delmar. Tori and Brenda were left alone with only each other to depend on. After clinging to each other for a month they quit their jobs at the hospital. After a month of hunting, they’ve found him and it’s time to take action.
“Who are they?” someone asked as they passed by. No one bothered to answer them, of course. Who didn’t know the story?
Tori and Brenda were as recognizable as their late lovers, Tony and Saab. They had changed since they quit their jobs, having left them at the same time despite the protests of Ducky and Kai.
Tori totally changed her outfit, exchanging an EMS outfit for a leather jacket and jeans. On any given day you could find her leaning on her late husband’s Gauntlet. Of course, where Tori went Brenda followed.
Brenda had changed as well, having exchanged work attire for jeans and boots with a familiar denim jacket that belonged to her late fiancé. Her only jewelry was an engagement ring that she never removed.
Tori and Brenda were now inseparable, the only people they interacted with fairly often being Buddha and Ellie. Buddha had been supportive of them when he heard about Saab and Tony dying, and he had volunteered to help them get revenge. Ellie and Freya volunteered to help as well, but Brenda believed that Freya was too close to the Koreans and so cut her out of their lives.
Ellie had been a friend and there for them since even before the murders, always the positivity the others were lacking and helping to show them the ropes of the criminal life along with Buddha.
The girls hadn’t moved, instead taking over Saab and Tony’s houses, respectively. They had made peace with all of the gangs, choosing to make allies instead of enemies. They had, in fact, used their allies to their advantage and had been watching Otto Delmar for a month. They were waiting for the right moment and finally it was approaching.
Brenda was leaning against Saab’s red zr380 which he had left her after his death, Tori by her side with Tony’s Gauntlet. They were waiting for Buddha to arrive with their weapons of choice, Brenda having ordered a dagger and Tori a pistol. Brenda smiles, looking at Tori and then at the night sky above them, “I can’t believe the day is finally here. We’re finally going to kill him.”
Tori looks at Brenda, smiling as she responds, “I know. We’ve been waiting for a full two months, and finally it’s time. After this we’re running, right?”
Brenda sighs, “Yes, Tori. The boys left us enough to run, and we’ll escape by boat.”
Tori stood up, beginning to pace back and forth as she talked, “I just want to get this over with,” she said with a sigh.
“Where even is Buddha?” said Brenda, “He was due to be here ten minutes ago.”
Tori glances towards the entrance to the Vinewood Bowl, crossing her arms and continuing to pace while she waits. Just afterwards they notice a car pulling up, in the driver's seat is Buddha, wearing long hair and a blue shirt with some jeans.
He climbs out of the car quickly, standing as the girls come over to him.
“I know, I know I’m late,” says Buddha hurriedly, “The dealer was late and I had to wait for him.” Brenda glares at Buddha, sighing before closing her eyes and crossing her arms. “It’s fine, just so long as you got the shit.”
Tori reaches out and places a hand on Brenda’s arm, glaring at Buddha and saying, “I’m glad you could finally make it.”
Buddha’s only response is climbing in the car to open the trunk before going to the back to put the dagger and pistol into the trunk before standing back, crossing his arms and leaning on a light post. “It’s all in there, man. Just go get it,” he says before sighing. “Are you sure about running, man? We could just get you a safehouse for the next few days instead.”
Tori shakes her head, walking over to the trunk and reaching in to get her pistol. “We have to go for a few days anyways, destress and figure out what to do next. The gang life isn’t for us, Buddha, and no matter what we do here the past will come back to haunt us. It’s best to let things cool down for a bit before returning.”
“After this, everything will change,” says Brenda with a solemn look on her face. “We won’t be the same people. We’ll enjoy life again, despite the pain we feel after losing Tony and Saab.”
She sighs and glances at the ring on her finger as it sparkles in the moonlight, catching the light from the lightpost as she lifts her hand for a second to look at it.
Buddha looks between Tori and Brenda with a sad and yet resigned expression, knowing that he cannot convince them to stay. “I know that I may not see either of you again after tonight, so let’s make the most of it before this ends.” He looks away from them and sighs, knowing that they won’t come back.
“Is everything in place?” asks Brenda, “I know that we’re waiting on our last girl to join us before we leave town, at the very least.”
Buddha nods, “Ellie is watching Otto as we speak, waiting in position for the ambush.”
“Good,” says Tori with a nod. “We’re ready as well, our stuff has been shipped to Turks and Caicos. Our passports have been arranged and the cars will be shipped there as well. All of the stock from Saab and Tony have been left to you, you have the keys to the house, right?”
Buddha nods silently, he has been unusually quiet since the other boys died. He was the only one not awake at the time, and so he avoided the attack. He blames himself and feels guilty for not being there at the time.
Brenda and Tori had told him the news and he went on a rampage, Denzel and Curtis joining in as well for a short time. He had stopped when Brenda and Tori told him that they knew who attacked Tony and Saab, telling Buddha to stop and help them handle business instead.
Tori had found out just a month after the attack that she was pregnant with Tony’s child, leading to the sudden escalation in time. The girls were planning on attacking in at least three months in order to prepare properly, but they wanted to keep Tori’s pregnancy a secret. Only Buddha, Ellie, and Brenda were told about the pregnancy.
Buddha had been more protective to a noticeable amount, Eugene having commented on it while they were driving away from another bank robbery. He was constantly checking on Tori through texts throughout the day, not to mention the calls to Brenda to confirm her safety as well. After all the attention, the girls realized that if Tori didn’t show early, Buddha would draw too much attention anyways and they would have to move up the time table.
Finally a month had passed and they were ready to ambush Otto Delmar with Buddha and Ellie. It had been a struggle to get everything arranged in only a month, but they had managed with some help from Buddha and his connects.
“It’s time to go,” says Buddha as his phone goes off. It’s a text from Ellie to tell him that everything is officially set up and it’s time to head to Otto’s house for the ambush.
“I’ll meet you there, okay man?” says Buddha as he climbs in the car and leaves to meet up with Ellie for the ambush. The girls watch with amusement while he drives off, crashing into two light posts and clearly distracted. Tori and Brenda climb in their cars and start driving. Brenda had started driving more carefully ever since Saab died, not wanting to damage his car. The plan was to take both cars to the boat docks where they will be loaded onto a ship for transport. The girls will get them back when they arrive to Turks and Caicos, and the trunks of the cars are filled with memories of their lives with Saab and Tony.
They knew, and Buddha knew, that this was final, they were not coming back any time soon.
Maybe one day, but it was very unlikely.
“So,” Brenda began once they reached the docks, “We’ll leave the cars on the ship and they’ll be in Turks and Caicos when we arrive. We should have no issues with transport, taking a boat to California and then a plane to Turks and Caicos.”
Tori nervously moves her hands as she asks quietly, “And Buddha will be there for the birth, correct?”
Brenda lays a hand on Tori’s arm, soothing her as she speaks, “Yes, Buddha and Ellie will be coming to visit and make sure everything is alright. Who knows, they mentioned moving with us. I doubt it, but you never know.”
Tori wraps an arm around Brenda’s waist while she brushes over her stomach casually, leaning into Brenda’s side. “When are they supposed to arrive here with the target?” she asks, feeling for her pistol in her holster under her jacket and relaxing when she feels it.
Brenda feels for her dagger through her jean jacket as well, taking out her phone and checking for messages. “They should be here soon,” she says with a small sigh, “Buddha said it wouldn’t take longer than half an hour to abduct Otto.”
As if on cue, Ellie drives up with Buddha, motioning for the girls to get in the car so she can take them to the next location.
The girls climb into the car after putting on masks. “Where’s the target?” asks Brenda, her voice disguised.
“HEY CUNTS!” they hear a muffled voice from the trunk yelling.
Tori snorts out a laugh, her voice disguised as well, “Found him for you, Brenda.”
“He wasn’t any trouble,” says Buddha, “Just like his bitch of a girlfriend.”
Ellie remarks, “He was my easiest target to abduct, this next part shouldn’t pose any trouble.”
They can hear muffled yelling in the back, but they aren’t able to understand a thing he’s saying. The rest of the ride is spent in relative silence, the only sounds being muffled yelling from the trunk. They pull up to the next location, the girls climbing out first and getting in position as they had thought of doing so many times.
Buddha and Ellie step out and popped open the trunk, dragging Otto out of the trunk, cuffing him before doing anything else. He’s got a developing black eye and a bleeding split lip, clearly having been beaten into submission by Buddha and Ellie to get more cooperation from their captive.
“We’re here motherfucker,” says Buddha as he grabs Otto by the arm while Ellie draws her bat, tapping it menacingly against her hand as Otto glares at them.
“Is that the best you got?” says Otto, clearly trying to gain some sort of upper hand. He looks around and realizes where he is, recognizes this familiar scene. Remembers what occurred here.
Ellie, voice undisguised, says, “Clearly enough to take you down, you were easier than kidnapping Brenda from Pillbox all those months ago.”
Buddha motions to the area where the girls are standing, “Over there, man. Don’t even think about trying anything motherfucker,” he says with a satisfied expression, confident in the situation at hand.
Ellie forcefully turns him towards the girls and makes him walk towards the two figures waiting in familiar outfits, Otto’s face turns into a smirk. “Hey there sheilas, how’s it going?”
“It’s going better for us than it ever will for you, Otto,” says Brenda as she takes off her mask. “No point in having this on anymore, it seems. You know what you’re here for.”
Tori takes off her mask, staring at Otto with a cold expression.
“Come on, motherfucker,” Buddha says as he forces Otto onto his knees. “It’s time for the girls to have a go at you...And this time you won’t be coming back from it.”
Ellie smiles, “This’ll be fun, they’ve been training just for you. Brenda, you’re up first.”
“Wait wait wait,” says Otto hurriedly, “So fast?” “ Yes,” Brenda responds with an icy expression, eyeing Otto with disgust as you would a disgusting insect. “You spared no time to talk with Saab or Tony when you shot them like a coward, why should we waste breath on your sorry ass?” Tori laughs, pulling out her gun as Brenda pulls out her dagger. “You should have known better than to come after our men with no retaliation. Their ashes are over and waiting for us in our new home. We’ll join them soon,” she smirks as she points the gun at his head before Brenda pushes her hand away.
“The dagger will hurt worse,” Brenda says with a smile, “You’re always so impatient, Tori.”
Tori huffs out a breath and puts her arm down, smiling at Brenda and saying, “Well, hurry up then.”
Brenda sighs, turning to face Otto with her dagger in her hand. “I’ve been waiting for this, you know? I’m so happy that the day is finally here. You’re going to receive a fraction of the pain that Saab and Tony felt when they were in the ICU before they died.”
Brenda traces the dagger lightly over Otto’s neck as he smiles, “And I would do it again, sheila. Just to see the blood run through the streets, just to get revenge for my Jackie.”
Buddha snorts from the side, “You still don’t know, Otto? Saab never killed Jackie, it was me all along. You were just blaming the wrong person. You even killed the wrong person, and you made the mistake of not killing me afterwards.”
Brenda drags the dagger over his arms, avoiding the cuffs on his wrists. “Where should I cut first, Tori?”
Tori shrugs, smiling and testing the weight of the gun in her hand. “It’s up to you, but you do know that you only get one cut, right? One cut and one shot, that was our deal.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Brenda sighs, “Only one cut means I have to go for an artery, something that will hurt and make him bleed out even more quickly. I want Otto dead tonight.”
She traces around Otto’s neck with her dagger while considering it, accidentally pressing too deep and causing blood to drip down his neck. “Oops, my bad, I didn’t cut anything vital though. Should have been deeper,” she says with a frown.
“It’s okay,” says Tori, “You still get your one deep cut, make it worth something.”
Brenda rolls her eyes at Tori, sighing as she realizes that their boat will be ready for them soon,
“I’ll just go for it, then,” she says as she positions herself in front of Otto. “I want to look you in the eyes as I stab you, that’s more than you gave Saab. Don’t worry, Otto, you’ll be with your girlfriend soon. You know, this is where she died? Well, of course you know, we noticed you visiting this spot often.”
Otto’s eyes are showing his insanity and he starts laughing, clearly happy with the situation. Brenda quickly stabs Otto in the shoulder with her dagger, glaring him down with all of the anger and spite she has felt since Saab’s death.
Stepping aside, she motions for Tori to raise her gun, “He’s all yours, but do it quickly. We need to go very shortly in order to make the boat.”
Tori raises her gun, raising an eyebrow at Brenda, “I know, I know. Shooting someone is much easier, but we don’t want this to be a fast death, do we? He needs to suffer like our boys did.”
Buddha finally speaks up from where he’s standing nearby, sighing and rolling his eyes, “Just do it before he bleeds out and do it quickly, Tori. We’ve already taken too much time, the boat is going to leave soon.”
Tori sighs, aiming the gun for his head, “Fine, I guess we’ll make sure this bitch is dead,” she says before approaching him and putting the barrel against his head, cocking the gun and placing her finger on the trigger.
“Any last words?” asks Brenda with a glare as she looks at Otto.
Otto smirks and spits in her direction, blood mixing with saliva as he does so, “Just that I regret nothing, cunt.”
“Good,” says Tori, “Because we won’t regret this either.”
She pulls the trigger, watching with a blank expression as he falls backwards off of the cliff. Brenda comes up to stand by Tori, wrapping an arm around her shoulder as Tori wraps an arm around Brenda’s waist.
“Let’s go,” says Ellie from the back, “It’s time to go to the boat and then get you on the plane.”
Brenda and Tori turn around, walking to the car and getting in, looking at each other before Tori lays a gentle hand over her belly, “Thank you both, we can’t wait to see you for the birth.”
Ellie starts driving, Buddha marking the boat docks on the GPS and looking back at them, “It’s no problem, man. You know the godparents have to be present for the birth,” he says before laying a hand casually on Ellie’s thigh, a habit he had picked up since entering into a sexual relationship with her.
Ellie ignores the hand on her thigh, focusing on driving as she comments, “We wouldn’t miss it for the world. The house should be all set up when you arrive in Turks and Caicos, we arranged for everything to be in place when you arrive. We just wish we could come with you, we know that you probably won’t come back, no matter what you say.” Tori and Brenda smile sadly, knowing truth lies in those words. “We figured it out, we have decided to not come back.” says Brenda.
“Unless anything changes,” says Tori, “We will raise the baby in the house we bought. You know you both are welcome any time.”
Buddha smiles at them both, “We know that. We would move there if we didn’t have ties here, but it’s not the time for that.”
The car pulls up to the boat docks as Ellie says, “We’ll be there for the birth, we’ll also move there if anything happens to you two. We discussed this before, remember?”
“Yes,” Brenda comments, “We’re just going over the plan again.”
They all climb out of the car, slowly walking towards the boat docks.
Tori and Brenda look at each other with nervous expressions before reaching the boat, stopping before the ladder that would lead them onto the boat.
“Are you ready, man?” asks Buddha, approaching them with Ellie by his side. “You know you don’t have to do this?” he tries one last time, sighing when Brenda and Tori both shake their heads.
“We’ll be fine, Buddha,” says Tori, sighing and laying a hand over her gun.
Ellie motions for them to hand over their weapons, “Those will only get you in trouble from here on out, so hand them over. We’ll dispose of them.”
Brenda hugs Ellie, casually laying a hand on Buddha’s arm in goodbye as she hands over her dagger. Tori hugs Ellie as well, quickly hugging Buddha afterwards and handing over her gun.
“We’ll call you when we get there,” says Tori, climbing onto the boat with Brenda following her. Buddha sighs, crossing his arms as he and Ellie watch from the dock, knowing that he’ll hear from them soon doesn’t make him feel any better.
Ellie slips a hand into his after putting the weapons in her pockets, knowing that any further contact out in public would be going too far.
Ellie watches as the boat departs, feeling Buddha’s hand tighten around hers, “They’ll be fine,” she says as she looks into the distance, noticing that the sun is starting to rise.
Buddha sighs and looks after the boat, turning around with her hand in his and heading over to the car. “Yeah, I know. I just wish things were different and back to how they used to be.” Ellie puts the weapons back in the trunk of the car before climbing into the driver’s seat, Buddha climbing into the passenger seat next to her. “Let’s go to your place and change, it’s time to go to bed,” says Ellie.
Buddha nods, not verbally responding as he watches in the rearview mirror as the boat sails over the horizon, knowing everything has changed.
“Hey Tori?” asks Brenda as they sit on the bow of the boat, “The sun is rising, seems like it’s the start of a new day, hmm?”
Tori smiles at Brenda, resting a hand on her stomach and finally relaxing, “Yeah, a new start sounds good.”
