Gordon Michaels was born in Detroit, Michigan. His father is of Italian, Irish, and Jewish decent and his Mother is of Cuban ancestry. Michaels spent most of his youth in Michigan and graduated from John Glenn High School where he played basketball for the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams and still holds the school record for most rebounds in a game (27). As a teenager, Michaels spent a lot of after school time practicing and performing as lead singer for his Detroit garage band Flash Experience. The group performed at some high school events as well as various venues around metro Detroit. Michaels love for both writing and performing music is something very close to his heart. In fact, he's written a number of songs over the years and looks forward to taking them into the studio to record.

After attending a performance of a community theater production of Man of La Mancha, Michael's was stung by the acting bug. In 1986 Michaels became a graduate of the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in New York City where he studied under world renowned acting teacher Sanford Meisner. Michaels spent a number of years under the tutelage of Uta Hagen and Herbert Bergoff at the renowned HB Studio in New York City.

In addition to writing, producing, and staring in the film Unbeatable Harold, which featured Henry Winkler, Phyllis Diller, Charles Durning and Dylan McDermott, Michaels can also be seen in the Miramax released, This Must Be The Place with Sean Penn, Fox Searchlight's Conviction with Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell, Love and Honor with Liam Hemsworth, Warner Bros Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Michaels is founder and President of the motion picture company Brandon Street Films, an independent production company dedicated to creating an artistic home for filmmakers.

Las Vegas 4-Wide Nationals Recap

For the first time this season, the NHRA has back-to-back race weekends as the NHRA heads to Las Vegas for the first of two 4-Wide Nationals. These races are different that your standard 2-Wide race at every other National Event as instead of two cars race and one advance, four cars will stage side by side by side by side and the first two to cross the line will move on to the next round, one other thing is that you earn 20 points for advancing a round and while tow wides have up to 80 points to earn 4-Wides can only add up to 60 points in round wins. With the format explanation out of the way, here are some highlights from the Las Vegas 4-Wide Nationals

First up is Pro-Stock Car the final round saw the #1 qualifier of Jerry Tucker, Brandon Foster, The natural Jeg Couglin Jr. in his first final since returning to the sport, and reigning champion Erica Enders. All four cars staged and left but Foster went red and Enders had issues early on so it was a race between Tucker and five-time champ Jeg Coughlin and at the stripe, Coughlin earned his first victory since leaving the sport in 2020.

Next up was Nitro Funny Car and this final on paper was unpredictable. You have the faster car on the planet in Bob Tasca III, you have the reigning champ in Matt Hagen, the former back-to-back champ with Ron Capps, and the Funny Car phenom in Austin Prock. The four best cars over the last few years are staged and gone with Bob Tasca getting a large starting line advantage but with Hagen and the others gaining it's gonna go all the way to the stripe and it's a triple holeshot for Bob Tasca, a 3.915 beats a 3.904 which beats a 3.902 which beats a 3.895. Matt Hagen goes low ET of the meet and comes in last in this incredible drag race.

Finally, its time for Top Fuel, and this final is also packed with some real star power. The reigning champion of Doug Kalitta faces the four-time champion of Steve Torrence who faces the hot shot Justin Ashley who faces the rookie Tony Stewart in his first ever Nitro final round. The four cars are staged and gone with the champ earning his first win of the season. Interesting note here, out of four races Kalitta Motorsports has won 3 of the top fuel races.

Overall this was a shockingly good race, the first one of the season without any rain delays so hopefully that trend continues in Charlotte where the NHRA goes 4-Wide for the final time this year and where Pro-Stock motorcycle will make its grand return.

ulmer zelt vom 24. Mai bis 08. Juli 2023

Zum inzwischen schon 35. Mal findet in der Friedrichsau in Ulm das ulmer zelt statt. Vom 24. Mai bis zum 08. Juli 2023 werden im großen Zirkuszelt immer abends 35 Veranstaltungen stattfinden. Die Eröffnung am ersten Abend übernahm am 24. Mai das Mannheimer Trio von Clockclock, das zur Zeit in aller Munde ist. Vor ungefähr 800 Besuchern sorgten sie mit ihrem poppigen Sound für Festival und Sommer Feeling und brachten das Zelt ordentlich zum glühen. In den nächsten Wochen werden dann noch weitere großartige Bands und Künstler sowie Kabarettisten und Magier im Rahmen des ulmer zelt auftreten. Ans Herz legen wollen wir euch ein paar besondere Acts wie beispielsweise Fortuna Ehrenfeld, die beim Hamburger Label GHvC unter Vertrag sind und sich ihr ganz eigenes Genre erspielt haben. Die Truppe um den Kölner Martin Bechler ist eine deutsche Indie Inkarnation, die absolut sehenswert und auch wirklich amüsant ist. Des Weiteren sollte man sich das Duo Royal Blood aus Großbritannien nicht entgehen lassen. Im Jahr 2015 noch in der ausverkauften Rockfabrik in Ludwigsburg, schaffte es das Duo Mike Kerr und Ben Thatcher in den letzten Jahren nicht mehr in unsere Gegend. Dafür tourten sie durch die ganze Welt alleine und mit Rockstars wie beispielsweise den Queens of The Stone Age. Demnächst spielen sie auf der Hauptbühne des legendären Glastonbury Festival aber davor erstmal in Ulm. Auch empfehlen möchten wir euch die beiden Damen Steiner & Madlaina aus Zürich. Durch ihren mehrstimmigen und mehrsprachigen Gesang in Deutsch, Englisch und Schweizerdeutsch verbreiten sie einen ganz besonderen und sehr sehr melodiösen Charm auf der Bühne. Erst vor kurzem erschien mit RISIKO das inzwischen schon dritte Album von Nora Steiner und Madlaina Pollina, welches die beiden sicherlich in Ulm vorstellen werden. Eine weitere Perle die ihr nicht verpassen solltet, ist die norwegische Pop Sensation KAKKMADDAFAKKA. Ihre einzigartigen Auftritte bleiben einem oft noch sehr lange im Gedächtnis. Sie haben sichtlich Freude an dem was sie tun, spielen ihre Instrumente voller Inbrunst und laden mit ihren positiven gut gelaunten Songs zum wilden tanzen und mitsingen ein. Freut euch auf eine phänomenale. Stimmung und ihre Hits wie Gangsta, Restless oder Is She.
