World Canon: Population

The world population was estimated at 6.6 billion when the Shanti Virus swept across the world. The remaining population numbers 462 million.

As Shanti first spread, the United Nations quickly acted to organize aid, medical expertise, and other resources. They couldn’t come up with a cure but their biggest successes came in organizing standard international protocols for quarantine, and sterile but humane and efficient disposal. The UN took a pivotal role in keeping countries organized.

Since Shanti’s death count stabilized, the UN has continued its powerful role. Many countries are logistically smaller than they were. Some are in name only but for a still relatively large city within them. Most lands outside of large cities are considered nomad lands, with exceptions in a few pockets, and so can lack somewhat in their policing, maintenance, importing/exporting abilities, communication, and etc. However, someone not in a city isn’t completely cut off if they don’t want to be. As long as someone is within a couple hundred miles of a big city, or on a common travel route, many small towns thrive.

EMAIL AND TEXT ALERT SENT TO ALL STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF

Due to an anti-specials riot starting outside the main gate, we've closed all incoming and outgoing traffic to the school. 

Everyone is to report to the Fortis building for security reasons and further instructions. Bring any valuables and means of communication with you. Food and shelter will be provided until the threat is gone.

All students are to remain ON CAMPUS for the remainder of the day. There was an explosion at Manhattan Mall. Cause and Origin is currently unknown. Protests are rising, and may result in a threat to your safety.

Remain ON CAMPUS until you are given clearance to leave. As soon as possible GO BACK TO YOUR DORMS.

Breaking News Alert || V8W2 || Wednesday

There has been an explosion in the Manhattan Mall at approximately 2:00PM. Authorities gave a brief statement urging everyone to avoid the area, listing the cause of the event as unknown but that radioactive activity has been detected.

 The mall and surrounding area have been shut down. Hundreds appear wounded, and there are multiple emergency response teams on scene, including hazmat. The number of injured and potential casualties has yet to be verified. 

Rumors are already circulating about the source of the incident. Survivors from the scene are reportedly talking of a young woman, a Special, as the cause. Senator Shelby, who is currently in New York, has already made comments about the necessity of his proposed ability registration. 

The situation is ongoing. Stay tuned for more information.
