final month recap

wow, everyone.  we’re here.  we’ve made it.  we’re reached the end of our bingo time, and i’m absolutely floored by the sheer creative output that i’ve seen over these last four months.  everyone, take a moment to give yourself a pat on the back!!!  no matter if you made 1 piece or 10, there’s now a work of art out there in the world that wasn’t there before.  and truly, that’s super heccing rad no matter how you look at it.

so let’s celebrate!  for this recap, we have a total of 20 new pieces, bringing the total amount of ninbingo pieces up to 50.  in the span of four months, this little event has created 50 individual works (five of them in the last day!)  holy cow ya’ll.

i’m putting out this recap now, but don’t worry, it’s not the end yet!  any submissions made to the end of the 30th still count and this post will be updated accordingly :D

Kai’s always prided himself on achieving the impossible, but dealing with human emotions is much more complicated than beating up Garmadon’s generals or shooting enemies with fire, as he quickly learns. The Sons of Garmadon have been defeated. Garmadon is in prison. The city has been saved.

In the aftermath of the battle, Nya is more than ready to take a much-needed break. But the life of a ninja is messy. Recovery is never that simple. Although the wounds may have healed, the scars still remain.

Zane’s scars seem to match up, though. And maybe together, they can begin to heal.

Lloyd’s not so great at being patient. It’s not his fault though- maybe he would be better at it if waiting didn’t always end up being so disappointing- if people actually kept their promises. But this time’s going to be different, he knows it. His father will come back for him. And Lloyd’s going to wait.

What’s on the menu now?

The week has been off to an interesting start, which began with the gremlin getting the snip. It meant we had to be a bit more budget friendly with our menu, but thats ok because we’ve still got our Costco meats in the freezer and we just needed produce to stock up the fridge.  Eggs are always cheap, considering we get them at whichever grocery store we’re at.  We probably should be getting the more organic cage-free stuff, but sometimes at close to $6 a dozen, we’ll take our chances with the $0.99 stuff.

Eggs always make a good protein source, cheap and easy.  Not to mention the many many ways you can cook it.  Lately we’ve been steaming them in the instant pot because it’s easier than boiling to be honest.  You can set the eggs at a specific time and they come 100% the way you want them to.  Steamed/boiled eggs then lead to eating as a snack, adding to a salad or sandwich (unwich for us since we’re not eating bread but lots of lettuce and cucumbers), and even adding to the Asian pork dishes.  Yummy.  

Here’s what we’ve had so far:

-pork verde stew (avocado/radishes/lime wedges on side with chicharrones)

-chicken liver and onions with garlic scapes, roasted radishes, and snap peas with mushrooms

-@nomnompaleo’s instant pot bo kho (Vietnamese beef stew with zoodles)

-sesame oil chicken 

-papaya salad with tomatoes and cukes

Let’s just say this week’s winner is fish sauce!  FTW!
