The International Spy In this story the author makes clear the sinking of the English fishing schooners by the Baltic fleet of Russia and brings in all kinds of events that seemed hallucinations when the story appeared serially, but which have since come true in startling manner. #pinterest #books #instagram #facebook #action #fiction #Books #science #youtube https://gumroad.com/brianparker (New York City, N.Y.) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-pYDSCJZPz/?igshid=znc7av7su9b7

Withdrawal, partition and violence, oh my!
Brian Park
Minor: Perspective of a British citizen
Main Ideas:
1. Viceroy Louis Mountbatten sped up the process of transferring power, resulting in hasty decisions and borderlines being created 2. The partition was ultimately something that all of the indian leaders wanted 3. It was no longer Britain's problem

Withdrawal, partition and violence, oh my!
So apparently we have to move out of India. The country that we did everything for. The country that we brought up from the ashes. India is acting like a teenage child who feels as if he or she is all grown up and can live all by his or her self. To some extent, I guess we knew that it was coming; that the bird with the broken wing that we took under our care would one day fly away. But don't they see that they need us?
Ever since the day that we announced our intentions of ending our rule in India, all has gone to hell. Aware that our army was not ready for increased violence after World War II, Louis Moutbatten, the new viceroy, made the decision to speed up the process of transferring power. However, we couldn't just hand India over to them. Because of their diverse culture and different religions, we were forced to make the decision to divide their country. So, the representatives of each Indian party met up, and they all agreed, with the exception of Gandhi, on a partition that suited the needs of each party, which was the Partition of 1947. And so, we got ready to go through with the partition that the all of the Indian leaders had favored.
What followed the partition can only be seen as chaos. Millions of Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs found themselves on the wrong side of the boarder, which resulted in the greatest migration ever seen. As a British soldier who was watching over the migration, I have never seen anything as violent as what I witnessed that day either. Walking along the Grand Truck Road, which became on of the major routes for the millions of refugees who were traveling, I realized that the Grand Truck Road had also become a setting in which violence happened everyday. Villages were getting attacked on a daily basis, in an area where there were more than five thousand unprotected villages. People became animals, pillaging and murdering anyone of different religion that they came across. What did I do? Nothing. What was there to do? This is what India wanted. To rule themselves. This chaos was evident from when the Indians wanted to rule without our help – something that was no longer the problem of Britain.
