Hello fellow searcher!
I salute you for your dedication to locating legos. I myself run @original-post-locator, a blog dedicated to locating original posts (ie finding links to twitter screenshots).
If you don’t mind me asking, how do you go about locating lego sets? Do you have certain lego databases or websites you consult?
Have a nice day. :3
Hiya, nice to meet another gimmick!
I’ve been building lego since I was firstborn (not a joke my first set was lego 5357 “large quarto bucket”) and I’ve always had a deep hyperfixation with lego since.
When I’m identifying I will first see if I know the part or set off the top of my head then I’ll use brickset or bricklink which are lego database sites to confirm details on them!
If I do not know them, I’ll take everything I know about what’s in them (the theme, color, type of part, etc) and backwards search through those till I find it!
Thanks for the question fellow searcher!

20240210: the History of LEGO Castle day 041 6071-1 Forestmen's River Crossing (1990, 210 pieces, 60 different parts) The Forestmen's River Crossing is built on a 16x32 green plate with printed blue river through the middle and a small blue printed circle on one corner. A light gray and black building covered in foilage connects over the river with a brown bridge to another black building with more foilage. The set includes five different forest minifigures and a white horse with a red saddle. -A green torso with black arms and collar and a printed black belt with yellow buckle, plain green legs, and a green hat with small red feather. -A green torso with blue arms and a blue collar and a printed black belt with yellow buckle, plain green legs, and a brown hat with a three plumed feather. -A green torso with red arms and a red collar and a printed black belt with yellow buckle, plain green legs, and a green hat with large yellow feather. -A green torso with green arms and a yellow v-neck and a black belt with yellow buckle and a small brown pouch, plain green legs, and a brown hat with red three plume feather. -A green torso with a printed corset hinting at cleavage with a beaded green necklace and green arms, plain green legs, a printed yellow head with thick red lips and black bangs with a green bandana. The box for this build was severely damaged but what back of the box and inside the flap builds are visible consist of a very small forest bridge, a boat under a bridge, a three-story black and light gray building over the river, and a black and light gray bridge built across the river. This set has a number of unique and rare pieces, especially the "forestwoman" and the green river printed baseplate. The first green and blue printed baseplates came out in 1989 with the Pirates series (6270-1 Forbidden Island, 6260-1 Shipwreck Island, and 6265-1 Sabre Island) but this is the only flat water-pattern baseplate in the castle theme. And it is definitely a very, very cool baseplate :) This is also the second use of the brown ladder in the castle system, one of only three sets with this part (the other is 4588-1 Off Road Race Track). This is also the second usage of the brown rope bridge (the first, again, being 6270-1), a part that was only used in a total of 13 sets. The Forestmen's River Crossing is the last of the original Forestmen faction. The next closet version to the "Robin Hood" of LEGO Castle will be the Dark Forest series in 1996. This set has hidden entrances and the ladder is concealed and it's very, very cool! And this set certainly went out with a bang, as this was a fantastic set for its time but I have a few reservations about it now. This is the fifth castle set which specifically genders minifigures. This time, the gender identifications don't come because of their headgear or the label given by the catalogue, but by making a minifigure torso with a printed thin waist and a corset with cleavage, and a minifigure head with thick red lipstick. I think this actually bothers me a bit because up until this point, the minifigures had no gender, and even the four previous gender identifications were superfluous, as it was just a written label, but now, this minifigure is adding sexual characteristics. Before this minifigure, any of the minifigures could be any gender. But now? Now, there's even an implied romantic scene in one of the back of the box builds with the "forestwoman" and one of the other minifigures on a river boat. Now, there are sexual characteristics found on what used to be a generic minifigure. And sometimes I wonder if this single torso is where LEGO actively decided to value making toys for boys over toys for everyone. A parts inventory for this set can be found on BrickLink or Rebrickable and a free download of the instructions can be found on ToysPeriod. This set was designed by Daniel August Krentz and Steen Sig Andersen and you have find the other things they designed on BrickSet.

i've started a little series of weekly posts documenting every MoC i made (digitally) over the last few years:
Week 8: 2021
Bonsai, Contests, Old themes and Pride
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
brickset had another contest where you could enter mods of 10281 bonsai tree. i made two that i thought would look interesting as more alien trees and one using bionicle kanohi (plus jaller)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
there was also a category for that contest where you'd make a custom bonsai. i didn't have to many ideas other than "make small" and "abandoned". i don't really like the way those trees look.
Tumblr media
the great cloud gardens was a game that i played a lot during that time, so i decided to make a bonsai-like MoC based on the city levels of the game. i still love this build and i hope that i'll be able to build it irl some time in the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are also more directly based on cloud gardens. they depict the levels where you get the seeds for the Wisteria, the Monstera, the opuntia, the bryophyta and the pothos. (i kinda had to guess the names based on the pixelated names on the cards and the closest names i could find for plants that are similar looking to the ones ingame)
i never posted these anywhere because i wanted to finish making all of the plants before posting them. i never finished.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
there was another contest on lego ideas where you could build a new GWP with the theme "space" i originally built it as an Ice Planet style-vehicle, but then i looked more into the lore of Ice Planet and found out that they specialized in Rocket science and something about satellites, i think?
this made me redesign this MoC as a futuron vehicle because that subtheme had a focus on transportation and more civilian activities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i had the idea to make more modern Rock Raiders MoCs based on interesting modern Construction vehicles, i think i kinda overdid it with the amount of colours present on these MoCs, but i'll probably revisit this idea some time in the future.
Tumblr media
another ideas contest. this time for a summer themed GWP. i based this on some north sea beach memories i made as a kid. i really like the sunny atmosphere i created with this MoC.
Tumblr media
i also played narita boy that year and wanted to make a MoC based on that amazing game, but this never went anywhere. this was also the first (and probably last) time i've used PartDesigner to make a custom part (the sword) and some cutom prints.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LEGO released the Everyone is Awesome set in June 2021, so ideas had an activity to post some Pride Month inspired Creations. i originally made the Stand For the Flag(s) build that i made several variations of and now turned into a .gif, but i didn't post it because i really disliked the colours i used and couldn't think of better ones. instead i posted the Building Bridges MoC. i stimm like it and i think it would make a nice desk decorations similar to the EiA set.
Tumblr media
anyone remember Atlantis? i had the idea to build some place to hold all eight Treasure Keys that where released in both waves of that theme. i think the theming is a bit off with this MoC, but i still kinda like the colours i used in it.
first week last week next week

rating lego firetrucks: juniorization begins
#6614 Launch Evac 1 (1995)
Tumblr media
lego’s second crash truck is associated not with the airport theme, but with launch command. a little bit of a downgrade from #6440 but still good. 🚀🚀🚀🚀
I probably should have squeezed that into the previous post because it’s a misleadingly good start for this one.
#8280 Fire Engine (1995)
Tumblr media
me looking at the thumbnail for this set on brickset: huh, I’m kind of surprised I haven’t seen a technic firetruck before now. wonder why it took them so long?
me after enlarging the image: I understand now. 🚒
#2935 Fire Engine (1996)
Tumblr media
seriously what was with toolo
#6486 Fire Engine (1997)
Tumblr media
and here we go. for some reason, in the late nineties lego decided to take town in a new direction. and that direction was directly downward. welcome... to the juniorized zone. I hope you like extremely simplistic construction and headlights painted on slope bricks. just kidding! nobody likes that. I mean look at this. look at this “fire engine.” what the hell is that? zero.
#6554 Blaze Brigade (1997)
Tumblr media
our focus here is on firetrucks but just take a moment to look at that 1970s-ass helicopter. the truck is better than #6486, but that’s damning with faint praise. 🚒
#9366 Town Set (1997)
Tumblr media
one of those dacta sets with a million things in them. this truck looks like it’s roughly similar to the one from #6554 but I can’t really see it.
#1076 Advent Calendar (1999)
Tumblr media
that is a van with a light on it.
#2811 Fire and Police Station (1999)
Tumblr media
we’re at the point where the duplo fire trucks actually look better than the town ones.
#6464 Super Rescue Complex (1999)
Tumblr media
this is the best firetruck we’ve seen from the junior era. which is to say, it’s still not good, but it looks okay from a distance. it consists mostly of a single-piece trailer with a separate big slab of ladder contraption just sitting on it. 🚒
technically we’ve now entered the “city” theme but city proper will come later.
#2914 Rescue Base (2000)
Tumblr media
this is apparently from something called action wheelers, which I have never heard of in my life and which appears to be some kind of toolo spinoff.
#4164 Mickey’s Fire Engine (2000)
Tumblr media
so I guess this existed? it does look more or less like something you’d see in an old disney cartoon. 🐭🐭🐭
#6477 Fire Fighters’ Lift Truck (2000)
Tumblr media
can’t unsee how this is basically just the truck from #6464 with a different payload slapped onto the giant trailer piece. 🚒
#6478 Fire Fighters’ HQ (2000)
Tumblr media
bleh. but don’t worry, it’s about to get even worse.

Today I learned that LEGO Elves was the first theme to cannibalize on Chima's Chi piece, and after that came a Star Wars set, Nexo Knights, and a recent Ninjago set that did the same.
To be fair, Brickset says that the piece stopped production back in 2017; they remade it the same year. Basically, LEGO stopped producing Chi pieces so that the "new" ones are completely disassociated from the Legends of Chima theme. Which is frustrating, to say the least.

How many sets/minifigures do you have? If you don't mind sharing do you think we could see them?
according to brickset i have a total of 137 sets! that’s a lot! but a HUGE chunk of them are cmfs/magazine gifts
of the non minifig ones i can count about 30

Review of BlueBrixx’s Delta Flyer ... by the U.S.S. Voyager crew  ;)
Tumblr media
Tom Paris: Behold the Delta Flyer. Ultra-aerodynamic contours, retractable nacelles, para-metallic hull plating, unimatrix shielding based on Tuvok’s brilliant design for the multi-spatial probe, and a Borg-inspired weapons system.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seven: Basic design elements are ... adequate.
Tom: High praise.
Harry Kim: If we used iso-magnetic EPS conduits in the plasma manifold, we could maximize the power distribution.
Tuvok: My shield designs could be successfully applied to a vessel of this size.
Captain Janeway: I’m impressed, but how quickly can it be built?
Tom: We could replicate the alloys and the new design components, use spare parts from storage. If we worked around the clock we could have it up and running inside a week.
[It actually took me about a day’s time in total to finish the Delta Flyer.  There aren’t as many pieces as the Rio Grande model, but some of the steps are a bit trickier than just snapping two bricks together.]
Tumblr media
Seven: I suggest we turn our attention to the matter of structural integrity.
Tuvok: Agreed.
Seven: Lieutenant Torres’ hull design is flawed. We should be using tetraburnium alloys instead of titanium.
Tumblr media
[Once again, BlueBrixx did an excellent job recreating the basic structure of the Delta Flyer seen in Star Trek: Voyager.  Unlike the similarly minifig-scale Galileo and Rio Grande, the bases of which were largely rectangular shaped, the Delta Flyer has a lot of sloping angles that the brickset designers could only replicate with building blocks through very creative and unconventional techniques.  As a result, the Delta Flyer is not as clean-looking of a model as its minifig-scale predecessors. There are a few places where the adjacent pieces had to be positioned in a certain way to recreate the proper angle but left gaps and seams as a result.  Not a bad trade-off in my opinion to get a brick model in this scale that resembles the onscreen Flyer so closely.  Plus, when viewed (or photographed) from certain angles, the gaps are barely noticeable.]
Tumblr media
Harry: I keep telling you, we’ve got to reinforce the hull with kellinite. That’s all there is to it.
Tuvok: Proposing the same flawed strategy over and over again will not make it more effective, Ensign.
Harry: Well, we’ve got to come up with something or we’ll never get this thing off the ground.
Tuvok: Unless we find a way to reconfigure the structural integrity field, the hull will incur microfractures during descent.
Tom: Microfractures, Tuvok. Doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll have a hull breach.
Tuvok: And if we do, I suppose these useless design elements from your Captain Proton scenario will compensate for the problem.
Tom: Hey, every one of these knobs and levers is fully functional.
Tuvok: And completely superfluous.
Tom: Maybe to you. I am tired of tapping panels. For once, I want controls that let me actually feel the ship I’m piloting.
Tumblr media
[Some time later]
Irina: Vectored exhaust ports, accelerated driver coils. Your vessel must be fast.
Tom: Gets us where we want to go.
Irina: Check your scanners. You’ll see a comet on the other side of the asteroid field. I wonder which of our ships could get there first.
Tom: Sounds like a challenge.
Harry: Not that I’m endorsing this misguided exercise, but maybe we can even the odds. New impulse thrusters.
Tom: Now that’s the spirit, Harry.
Tumblr media
[One notable characteristic of the Delta Flyer model that distinguishes it from the Rio Grande and Galileo is that the Flyer has a lot of movable features. These include the aforementioned retractable nacelles and pop-out impulse thrusters.  There’s also the rear access hatch, the dorsal cover for the incorporated Borg technology, and a pullout bio-bed in the aft compartment. Fun!]
Tumblr media
Special thanks to http://www.chakoteya.net/ for the Star Trek: VOY dialogue transcriptions from the “Extreme Risk” and “Drive” episodes.
And now for the photos with minifigs:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why is Namor piloting the Delta Flyer?  If you know, you know.  ;)
