Anthony - While courting her sister, Anthony panics when Kate is stung by a bee, proceeds to attempt to suck out the poison from her clavicle, and is caught by their mothers and Lady Featherington. Lady F says they'll have to marry and Anthony announces they'll be married next week. No proposal, Kate is never consulted. Anthony then ravishes her in the gazebo. 10/10. Complete Chaos.

Benedict - After repeatedly propositioning Sophie to be his live-in mistress, Benedict finds out she has been arrested for theft, shows up at the jail, punches the warden, and demands to know why his fiancé is being held prisoner. No proposal. Lady B almost punches Sophie's evil stepmother. 12/10. Utter Chaos.

Colin - Like a day after realizing that he finds Penelope incredibly attractive, Colin chases her through London, discovers she's Lady Whistledown, throws her in his carriage, lectures her, ravishes her, then they arrive back at her house and he hops out of the carriage and says, "well are you going to marry me or not?" Technically a proposal. 7/10. Chaos compounded by Lady F somehow thinking he's proposing to Pen's little sister.

Daphne - Daphne disrupts a duel for her honor, punches Simon in the eye, and insists he marry her because their garden makeout session was seen. Simon say he cannot have children, omitting that it's a personal choice and not a medical condition, and Daphne says good to know not a problem we're doing this. No real proposal. No one's happy with the outcome. Pistols and bickering big brothers in attendance for added chaos. 8/10

Eloise - Phillip proposes in a letter before they ever meet, failing to mention he has two children. Eloise packs a bag and leaves for his house without telling anyone. Phillip is shocked to discover her on his doorstep. The brothers are forced to ride after to her to defend her honor. Eloise doesn't understand why everyone's making such a fuss. Colin grumbles he's meant to be on his honeymoon. Beautiful Eloise-brand chaos abounds. 7/10

Francesca - Michael pines for a decade. He proposes. Franny says no. They have sex. He proposes. She says maybe. They have more sex. He nearly dies of malaria. Eventually they get married. By any other family's standards, it would be legendary chaos, but we're talking about the Bridgertons. 5/10

Gregory - HOO BOY. Gregory proposes/propositions Lucy despite her being engaged to someone else. She agrees but then is threatened by her treasonous uncle and goes through with the original marriage. Gregory interrupts the wedding. Lucy turns him down in front of the whole Ton. At the reception Gregory kidnaps her, then gets into a shootout with her uncle. Her now-husband agrees to annul the marriage. Absolute freaking chaos. No notes. 27/10

Hyacinth - Despite midnight rendezvous, breaking and entering, and a treasure hunt, Hyancinth's proposal is shockingly normal. Gareth formally asks Anthony's permission, then gets down on one knee and proposes properly. 2/10. Mildly disappointing, considering H's chaotic personality.

I just thought I would put out a note to let anyone who was unaware know that all of the audiobooks in the Bridge-verse written by Julia Quinn are now free to download/stream for Spotify Premium subscribers.

Obviously this isn't paid promotion, but if you had wanted to pick them up, this is a great time if you're a spotify subscriber. I was surprised they were included due to the popularity of the show, but they're all there. I'm currently listening to To Sir Phillip, With Love.

The one thing I wish they would have kept for Kate's story was her genuine terror of thunderstorms.

I loved the slow burn they did with Kate and Anthony and I didn't even mind the changes to the Edwina storyline.

But I missed the storms.

That scene in the library is just as much about Kate allowing herself to be vulnerable with Anthony as the other way around. In the show, Kate's vulnerability tends to be based around her family and duty and responsibility, but her fear of storms is something so deep that even her family doesn't know about it. She knows it's irrational, she doesn't want to worry them, she needs to be strong for them, always, but more than it's the piece of her that never allowed anyone to take care of her. She takes care of everyone else, not the other way around.

And Anthony finds her in that state, that she never shows anyone. And he's simply there. For her. Quietly, without the argument or fire or contradictions that they so often inspire in each other. He's just there.

I wanted that for Kate, that chance to be seen and known at her weakest, just as she sees and knows Anthony at his. I wanted that mirror to the moment when she helps him to breathe after she's stung by the bee. Amidst all of the turmoil of their feelings for each other and everything that was going on, I wanted Kate to feel safe with this vexing man just being her quiet, safe place too.

I would change nothing else, just give me that quiet moment in the library, with the thunderstorm raging and Anthony holding Kate's hand while they hide under the table.

Bridgerton robbed us of Penelope's friendship with the Bridgertons. In the books, she was so much closer to them, and they all considered her family. I LOVED her bond with Anthony and how he walked her home in the fourth book after she witnessed and overheard Colin's cruel words about her 🥺 She wasn't just their neighbor or Eloise's friend. She was an honorary Bridgerton. But I loved and appreciated her bond with Anthony more because he was so protective of her. Apparently, that wasn't shown in the TV show because non-book readers would start to ship them, and Kanthony would have been a less beloved ship 🙄😒 Don't get me wrong I love Kanthony but that's just a stupid reason.

Penelope and Colin Bridgerton, fresh off their wedding, traveled to their cottage for a romantic picnic. With every moment alone they had together, it seemed like the perfect time for Colin to make love to his bride.

The sun heated up the meadow around them. Colin spread out a blanket, and Penelope began to unpack the picnic basket. She had asked their maid to put together an assortment of his favorites: colorful macarons, slices of cheese, and a fresh bottle of wine.

Colin watched in awe as she worked, marveling at her beauty and grace. She was kind and gentle yet witty and strong, a perfect combination for a life partner. Even more so, she loved him back with a passion that defies words. Colin felt deeply blessed that such as woman could love him too.

Penelope felt his adoring gaze and blushed. “What is it?” she asked sweetly.

“I was just thinking how lucky I am that I am the man you love," he said softly, taking her hands in his own and pressing them against his chest. "Your love for me fills me with such wonder. I don't know what good deed I did to the world to deserve a marvelous woman like you."

Penelope smiled at him, tears welling up in her eyes. She leaned forward and kissed him gently on the lips before pulling away to look into his eyes. "I'm so glad that you'd chosen me to be your wife. I love you and I always will."

As the couple enjoyed their picnic in the garden of their cottage, he could feel Penelope's gaze upon him as if she was admiring each tiny detail of his being. The warmth of her eyes on him made his heart flutter and made him want to stay in this moment forever. He knew that her love for him only grew stronger with each passing day and it humbled him to know that he was so cherished by another human being.

"If you continue to look at me like this, I'll have to make love to you," he threw a playful threat with a smirk on his lips.

She laughed. Then rose one challenging brow," I'm still looking."

Colin found himself unable to resist her any longer and, leaning in, he kissed her softly on the lips, his hands cupping the side of her face. As their passion grew, his hands moved down her body, caressing the curves of her waist and fondling her breasts.

Penelope arched her body against his as she felt the warmth of his touch. His hand moved lower, stroking her delicate skin beneath her cleavage. She gasped with pleasure and ran her hands through Colin's hair before pushing him onto his back and straddling him. She smiled down at him, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she began to slowly roll down her dress sleeves and cleavage.

Colin's eyes seared her skin with desire.

He couldn't resist and tug down the hem of her cleavage at once. Her breasts popped out. With one passionate motion he leaned forward, pressing his face between her breasts and tasting the warmth of her skin. His tongue left a burning trail up the creamy expanse of her chest, until it reached the peak of her right nipple where he indulged himself with every ounce of desire.
