I have loved Agent Provocateur's boudoir heels for years. I never buy shoes online - heels strike me as particularly difficult to properly size without trying - but when AP dropped the price of these adorable Tamiya mules, I thought I'd take the chance (only available in green now).
First, I really love the design. The top line of the vamp is quite unique, stopping quite high up the shoe. The fuchsia adds a great pop of colour to an all black set and it matches my AP Dolly set perfectly. The feathered pom-poms retain their shape quite well.
As for the construction, I don't know much about shoe construction so I will only report what I can observe. The stitching is very neat and the shoe feels sturdy. I am quite sure the outsole is made of leather - it has some creasing like leather and smells like real leather. To create a hard, smooth finish, there appears to be a very thin layer of a type of plastic bonded over the leather sole but there is no chemical scent.
The one very cheap, cost cutting measure I did not like seeing was the insole. It is glued on. What irritated me most about the insole is that there are real stitches on the insole. Seeing if an insole is stitched or glued is one of the first things I consider to determine the quality of a shoe. I was very displeased to see that instead of paying for the labour of sewing the insole to the shoe itself, AP paid extra for the labour of stitching the insole to nothing, just to give the deceptive appearance of a higher quality shoe, something you cannot see if you're purchasing online, like myself.
I ordered a size 36 which translates to a US size 5. This was a bit of a gamble because I take US5.5. It's actually a decent fit though close - my heel comes right up to the end of the shoe - and a 37 may have been too large. Certainly not the most comfortable shoe but they are almost 11cm heels afterall.
I paid CA$52 for these shoes on sale, down from the retail price of CA$645. Shipping was CA$30. They took four days to ship and arrived four days later (including a weekend) in an AP box and dust bag. I'm relieved they fit and have absolutely no regrets as the discount was ridiculously deep and they are too cute for words.

I thought I’d break out an old classic today, Agent Provocateur’s Joan bra in Mink. Joan is an AP classic that’s offered in a variety of colour ways including black. Personally, I think it’s far more eye-catching with a contrasting colour.
I love the sleek graphic design of Joan. It’s provocative without being loud. The sheer fabric is suggestive without actually being a mesh. There are strappy details but it’s clean and playful rather than being suggestive of bondage. I don’t mind any suggestion of bondage but at this point, strappy bondage lingerie feels a bit done. Personally, I’d suggest trying actual bondage if that’s a look and vibe you’re going for. I also enjoy this design because of its versatility. It pairs very wear with any plain black bottoms. You can dress it up or down.
The construction of the bra is actually difficult to tell from most photos online. As you can see from the interior photo, there is a fine tulle fabric lining the entire cup area so this keeps your silhouette smooth and the strappy areas from moving around or digging in. On lighter skin tones, the tulle is so fine, it will melt into your skin but if you have darker skin, it will noticeably lighten those panel areas and not have the same effect.
I took my usual AP 34C and the fit is great. My only complaint is that I bought this hoping to have a prettier daily bra but there are so many seams, it’s actually not the most comfortable wear. In fact, I own much lacier, frilly AP bras like Megan or Margot that are more comfy. Of course, unlike Joan, they are definitely not smooth enough for daily wear.
I bought this bra awhile ago from SSENSE and it’s one of AP’s more affordable pieces. I can’t recall how much I paid for it, but it’s currently retailing for CA$96 down from CA$175. You can catch a lot of AP pieces on sale from SSENSE but if you’ve a common size like myself, you might find inventory sells out before you can grab a piece.
Overall, I wish this was a piece that I could wear more regularly but otherwise, I love the look.
