As if you care | Rafe Cameron x reader
Summary: JJ and Rafe crash at the finish line of the Enduro Race. Just because you and Rafe aren't together anymore doesn't mean you weren't worried about his safety.
A/N: Hope you enjoy! I promise I proof read the best I could with a 13 month old running around getting into everything 😅

The beach was packed with onlookers, ready to watch the 2024 Enduro race and see who would take champion this year. Your feet dug in the hot sand as you made it through the crowd to the sideline where the rest of the Pogues were. JJ would be racing again this year hoping to turn his luck around and win this year.
You could see across the track the kooks gathering around. One in particular catching your eye dressed like he was ready to race. He was never one to participate in these types of things so seeing him there was a shock.
"Rafe's here racing?" You ask Sarah, watching as Rafe pushes his bike to the starting line, beside the other racers.
She too was confused by his participation, shrugging, "I guess so."
Shielding your eyes from the hot sun, you can see Rafe has noticed you, giving you a brief nod of acknowledgment before swinging his leg over the bike to mount it.
"Shit," Sarah says, "Why the hell is he racing?" She's immediately stomping through the sand toward John B where he too is pushing his bike to the starting line next to JJ.
You followed Sarah, heading for JJ.
"You here to give me a good luck kiss?" JJ teases you with a kissy face, leaning close to you, as Sarah leans over to give John B a kiss.
You shove him in the shoulder, laughing, "You wish, Maybank."
He chuckles mounting his bike, sliding his bandana over his head, "No see I think if you kissed me, I'd win."
You rolled your eyes at his flirting, "Try not to get killed out there." You grab his helmet off the back of his bike, handing it to him. You and JJ had grown close after breaking up with Rafe, but it never crossed a friendship line. He was flirty, but both of you knew there wasn't anything there. He knew you still loved Rafe.
"You see your boy is racing today?"
"Yeah," You reply. Before anything else is said, the announcer gives the racers the minute warning. "Be safe out there."
"Oh I'll be so safe," He drags out with a laugh, hand on his heart.
You can't help but laugh at the memory with Pope, heading back toward the sideline with Sarah.
Rafe slides his helmet over his head, starting his engine and revving it a few times. Even behind helmet you can feel his eyes on you. He felt the anger pulsing through his veins as he saw the interaction between you and JJ. He should have known he would lose you and you'd moved on by now. It only pissed him off more that it was JJ.
You and Rafe had dated for a year before you ended it. He'd started hanging around the wrong crowd, drugs and alcohol making him a changed man. He wasn't the Rafe you fell in love with and you'd tried everything to get him to stop, get help and go to rehab but he'd blown up, destroying your shared apartment in anger; broken furniture, glass littering the floor, holes in the wall. It left you terrified and you gave him the ultimatum. Get help or you were leaving him. Unfortunately, the group had their nails dug deep in him and he wasn't ready to give up his way of life yet. You'd packed up everything you owned from the apartment that night with the help of the Pogues and hadn't looked back.
It didn't mean you didn't care for Rafe. or that you ever stopped loving him. There was no way you could live like that with him and Rafe didn't want the help. You had to admit, you could tell he looked healthier there on the beach, nothing like he did when you left 6 months previous. He'd shaved his hair, his skin was tan and those dark circles under his eyes were gone.
Soon the race began, sand flying through the air. The announcers had people set through the track to see where the racers stood in standings.
At the beginning, Rafe was first, JJ falling behind. As they come around the last curve, JJ jumped the sand dune, putting him in first place. Rafe and JJ went neck and neck, bumping into each other.
They both recovered but Rafe went for him again, bumping his tire and sending both of them flying through the air, landing hard in the sand.
As the race concludes, Topper taking first, everyone stormed the track, you immediately went to JJ with the Pogues.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" JJ starts toward Rafe.
"Get use to it, pogue." He shakes the sand off his arms.
JJ lunges for Rafe and Rafe lunges for JJ, but you quickly jump between them, "Hey! Hey both of you stop it!" pushing them back by their chests,
"You could have killed each other! are you fucking crazy!" You spit out to Rafe of anger and worry for the both of them.
"As if you care." Rafe pushes your hand off his chest, his shoulder bumping into you as he pushes past you before storming through the crowd.
You make sure JJ's ok, before following after Rafe. "Rafe!" Your legs burn as they dig into the sand, his long legs making it hard for you to catch up.
He doesn't acknowledge you, unzipping his suit to his waist as he nears his truck.
"Rafe!" You finally catch up to him at his truck, grabbing his arm to will him to face you, "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
He faces you, his face red with anger, "I know I fucked up alright, but did you really have to go for Maybank?" He lets his trucks tailgate down to throw his suit and boots in the back. He doesn't give you a chance to answer, "Just go back to your boyfriend. I'll apologize later when I'm calm."
The slam of the tailgate makes you jump, but you recover, grabbing his arm, "JJ is not my boyfriend! You don't get to pull this bullshit. Not after all the shit you put me through. You seriously could have killed both of you! That was reckless; a stupid move."
He can see your angry and if he's not mistaken, even a little scared, "Why do you care about my safety anyways? It's not like we're together."
"I didn't stop caring for you Rafe. I just didn't deserve the way you were treating me and I left. You needed help and you wouldn't accept it. What was I suppose to do? Stay with you while you continued to wreck our relationship and your life? You destroyed our apartment; you broke furniture. put holes in the walls. I was terrified."
He lets his back hit the side of his truck, running a hand over his head as he looks down at the ground, embarrassed he let his feelings get the best of him. "You're right, I shouldn't have done what I did. Today or that night. I was in deep with that group and I should have got out sooner. You did the right thing leaving." He finally wills himself to look at you. His eyes are sad, "As much as it broke my heart to see you leave, you did the right thing. I wasn't in a good head space and honestly I don't know what I would have done to you. I'm sorry I even put you through what I did. You didn't deserve it."
"I forgive you," You lay your hand on his arm, "I just wanted my Rafe back." You say, tears threatening to spill over.
Rafe wipes a tear away with his knuckle, "I'm here."
You lean into his touch, eyes closing in the comfort of his touch. You missed him.
Soon, his hands are tugging you into his chest, his arms wrapping around your shoulders and he plants a kiss against your hair. You can feel your entire body relax into his. Your hands move up his back, palms open against his shoulder blades.
"God, I don't deserve you." He says into your hair, giving you a tighter squeeze. He needed this comfort just as much as you did.
He's the first to pull away from you, hands sliding to your cheeks, "I've missed you."
You place your hand over his, bringing his hand to your lips, and kissing his palm, "I've missed you too."
~
The two of you start heading back to the beach, deciding you both needed the extra time together. Everything finally felt right in the world. Your hand in his as your feet dig into the sand, the orange of the sun dancing against the ocean's waves as it sets against the ocean's horizon.
"I can see you still let your emotions get the better of you."
He chuckles softly, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and bringing you toward him, "When it comes to you, I do." He says before kissing the top of your head.
I hope you enjoyed! Likes, comments and reblogs are always welcomed and so appreciated! x

Can you do a smut on how we’re Rafe’s girlfriend but we’re also a pogue. It’s enduro day and we go with the pogues because we are gonna race in it as well and rage would never allow us to do it, and when it gets close to the end we end up in the crash with Rafe and JJ and we get hurt a little. So Rafe drags us back to his and smut of whatever
i love this idea!!
cw: p in v, unprotected sex, oral (fem receiving), soft rafe, fluff, smut, lmk if I missed anything
You and Rage had always bonded over your bikes, mainly because he was the one who got you so into them. He let you drive his bike one time and you were obsessed so a couple weeks later he got you a custom bike in your favorite color with your initials on the side. You loved it and you rode it everywhere, sometimes just for fun, and Rafe loved how happy it made you but he was always a little nervous of you getting hurt. Even though he bought you a matching helmet that was the extent of your safety gear and sometimes you didn't even want to wear that.
You had always watched the enduro race, and you had always wanted to ride in it but you knew Rafe would never let you. So you went to the pogues, your bestfriends, because you knew they would support you. You asked them if they knew anyone who would let you borrow their bike because Rafe would obviously know it was you if you rode on your bike. JJ of course knew somebody and he set you up with the bikes, when the day of the race came you told Rafe that your parents were making you help them with something and you couldn't get out of it.
You went with the pogues and they helped you get everything ready for the race, far away from Rafe so that you didn't get caught. You felt bad for lying to your boyfriend because you knew he just wanted you safe but you really wanted to ride in the race. You hugged Sarah and Kie as they wished you good luck and then climbed onto your bike and put your helmet on before riding up to the starting line.
You were right behind Rafe and everything was going well in the race until you got to the end and JJ decided to jump the inlet to get ahead. Thankfully he didn't get hurt and he made over but now he was in first and you knew Rafe wasn't gonna let it stay that way. You were in third when Rafe hit the back of JJ's tires and they both went flying. You tried to keep going but JJ was in your way and you had to swerve to not hit him, this caused you to also crash your bike but thankfully the bike you borrowed was fine. You had some cuts and bruises and your shoulder hurt really bad but nothing broken, you looked over to see Rafe trying to get up and immediately ran over to see if he was okay.
"Rafe, baby are you alright?" you questioned, worredly.
"Y/n?," Rafe asked "I thought you were helping your parents what are you doing here?" he finished looking you up and down. Before you had the chance to answer he was talking again, "wait why are you in biker clothes, y/n did you race?" he said a mixture of worry and anger flooding into his voice and onto his face.
"y-yes?" You said nervously, wiping the blood that you could feel start to drip off of your lip.
"princess are you okay? What happened? Why would you race, you know I don't want you getting hurt?"
"I'm fine rafey, I promise. What about you though? That was a bad crash babe, are you alright?" you asked not worried about your own minor fall.
"I'm alright baby, promise. I've had worse happen." He chuckled lightly, hands moving to your waist as he pulled you closer to him. His face changed from worry to sadness and anger. "You lied to me y/n and you got hurt"
"I'm not hurt Rafe, I'm fine. But I am sorry I lied to you, I just really wanted to do this but I knew you wouldn't like it.
"Yeah princess, I don't like it because stuff like this happens" he says, thumb swiping over the cut on your lip.
"I know rafey, I'm really sorry but it was so much fun" you mumble, kissing him softly.
"You did do pretty good" he admits, smiling down at you and kissing the top of your head. "Lets get out of here k?"
"Okay" you say smiling because you know exactly what he means.
Back in Rafes room at Tannyhill
"Fuck Rafe" you moan as his flat tongue licks a stripe up your folds landing on your clit with a kiss. "taste so good baby" he mumbles into you, the vibrations making the sensation even better. His mouth sucks, licks and nibbles on your sensitive bud and he thrusts 2 fingers in and out of you quickly. "Rafe, rafe, shit I'm so close" you manage to get out as your hips buck into rafes face. Small gasps and moans escape your lips as you reach your climax and Rafe adds a third finger to ride you through your high.
He comes up to kiss you, tasting yourself on his lips. The kiss brief before he pulls away and starts kissing your neck and chest, leaving new marks to replace the old faded ones. You know he loves to make sure everyone knows your his and your fine with it, you wouldn't have it any other way. He lifts his head up, spits on his hand and pumps his cock twice, lining the tip up with your still slick entrance before slowly sliding into you killings moans from both your lips.
"Shit, rafe you feel so good" you gasp as he bottoms out inside of you you. He slowly pulls out a few inches before quickly thrusting back into you, keeping a quick, steady pace as his head falls between your shoulder and jaw. "Damn baby, you're still so tight" he whispers into your ear, his hot breath on your neck sending shivers down your spine and his words making your walls clench around him. "Fuck y/n" he hisses and sucks in a breath at the feeling. You moan his name loudly as he picks up his pace thrusting harder and faster into you and his lips meet yours in a sloppy, sensual kiss. "Shit shit shit rafe" you gasp as your orgasm approaches.
"I know princess, I know. Me too" he groans and you can feel his dick twitching inside of you. Your head falls back and his lips meet your neck once again as his thrusts get sloppy and unrhythmic. You cum around his thick cock and he continues to thrust into you as he spills his hot seed into you. He rides out both of your highs together and you enjoy the feeling of his hot cum inside of you. He stills and lays on top of you, still not pulling out. "I love you y/n" he says breathlessly.
"I love you too rafe cameron" you almost whisper, pulling his face up to bring him into a kiss. You stay like that for a while before he pulls out, a whimper falling from your lips as he does so. He stands up and walks over to your bathroom, getting a warm cloth to clean you up and throwing you his shirt to put on. As you do, he gets on his boxers and climbs back into bed next to you. Rafe pulls you into him, arm wrapped around your waist and places a kiss on your cheek. You melt into his touch, enjoying his warmth and listening to the beating of his heart.
You fall asleep in his arms and he hopes it will be like this forever. "Goodnight princess" he whispers placing a kiss on your neck before closing his eyes and drifting off.

I was curious so i'm doing a deep dive on Marc's career the beginning of his world championship career to 2019 (I would do it to now but I'm going to make his post 2020 injury career as it's own series cause it feels like a different chapter in his career and I also think i'll need a bit more time to do that one cause it'll be more challenging to research and read all the articles about what Marc went through at that time. I'll also probably do a seperate post about his career before the world championships, so the spanish championship and i'll see if i can find anything on his enduro and motocross years) I think I'm going to make this multiple posts due to the photo limits as i want to include pictures of what i'm talking about (it will probably be 2008/09 together and then each season after that will be its own thing and maybe even multiple posts for each year as i want to do a deepdive into each race.)
The Deep Dive into Marc Marquez career - statistics, podiums, wins, injuries and world championships (Part 1)
125cc Career (Part 1)
2008
Marc joined the world championship in 2008 at the age of 15 racing for the Red Bull KTM team, he had to withdraw from the first 2 races of the season due to a right arm fracture that he sustained during the pre season also during a TNT interview from 2014 with Marc where Gavin Emmett is a guest host he says Marc showed up to the paddock for the first time and had two broken ankles. His first race was in Portugal where he came 18th. He scored his first every world championship points at the next race in China finishing 12th. In his 6th race he got his first podium, making him at the time the youngest person to get on a podium in the world championship. In the remaining 7 of 9 races of that season Marc DNF'd 3 times and finished in the points 4 times. He had to withdraw from the final 2 races of the season due to an injury caused by a crash in practice at Sepang (It's a cursed track I swear). This accident caused both his legs to be trapped between the back wheel of his bike and the swingarm, this resulted in a dislocation of the cartilage of his right tibia, he had to go back to Spain for surgery. Despite 4 withdrawals, 4 DNF's and 2 non point scoring races Marc finished 13th in the standings with 63 points.
2009
In his second year in the 125 class Marc started the season off in Qatar with a DNF, it was then onto Japan were he finished 5th, he then got his second career podium at the Jerez GP. Marc DNF'd 4 times in 2009 (one of them being Germany, that didn't happen again until 2023 were he DNS), he had 2 non points scoring races. His highest non podium finish was 4th and his lowest was 17th. He also became the youngest pole sitter in the class at the age of 16 years and 68 days. Marc finished this year in 8th with 94 points.
#marc marquez#MotoGP#this is my first time doing something like this I hope it makes sense#its so fun learning more about marc as i do this and i can't wait to learn more#I'm writing about his 2010 season now and it should be up hopefully soon but I'm going into external exams so it might not be up as quick#as i hoped it would be#i hope you enjoy this

okay so i was trying to do pact book club with my roommate b4 we had a falling out (unrelated) and i have cool Pact Motorcycle Analysis from rereading chapter one. (see below)
PMT “set [their bike] on the lawn, leaning against the inside of the fence.” leaning is the key word here. why are they leaning the bike on the fence? does it not have a kickstand? most street bikes have kickstands. the only ones that don’t are for extreme motorcross, not street legal, and built solely for dirt. So it would look something like this:

worth noting that this is a KTM 300 which is really nice and PMT's bike is "...about the shittiest, smallest, cheapest bike ever, and it’s used..." so assume much smaller and shittier then this one. But also, please note: No kick stand, and especially nothing that makes it street legal (plates, headlight, taillight, signals, mirrors) Okay, so what? Well, PMT then begins "...Unlocking and lifting the seat of the motorcycle, [to] retrieve the shirt [they] had stowed away..." These hardcore enduros, and even most sport, naked, and cruisers Do Not have under seat storage, especially locking under seat storage. The only thing that does? Scooters.

Eat your heart out, taylor hebert.
Brief Side Notes here: While our protaganist is referred to as Blake in this chapter, we can assume this is world-editing fuckery, given the snip doesn't happen until 4mo later with Molly's death. Also, we do see them mention a helmet. However, they are also wearing paint covered "...jeans, the lap striped with narrow streaks in various colors." This means that either PMT doesn't wear gear (squid status confirmed) or they wear armored jeans around regularly to the point of getting paint on them from the Toronto artists/dykes.
Later on in the chapter, though, the bike has been "Tipped over in a way that had scraped it hard against the stone wall. Headlight and taillight broken." So it does have lights, and is thus street legal. In conclusion: Given the text in this chapter, we can assume the PMT/Blake's bike is either 1) a plated, street-legal converted dirtbike with no kickstand (It is mentioned as leaning against the fence twice, proving "Leaning" is a deliberate choice) and the seat thing is a continuity error. or 2) the bike is a shitty scooter with no kickstand. or 3) the kickstand AND seat are both continuity errors and blake rides an older model cruiser (my personal HC given. Everything about PMT)

See the storage saddlebags BESIDES the seat, not below. So yeah. Either the bike is a magic fiction model macguffin that doesn't exist and just does whatever it needs for narrative purposes. OR (more likely) Wildbow just doesn't know how to write bikes.
Thanks for reading. Follow for more Pact Motorcycle Analysis.

There's a couple more businesses or projects really we started and they're doing fairly well the kit car industry is going to be huge right now as well 0.3% of the entire industry but in a few weeks it'll be more like 1% and that's huge and it's going to grow and our efforts might make it gigantic. I'm going to try and do what he's saying and start with other things you might make our version of the Saran and make it a street version and an Enduro two different ones I want to be a little bit heavier but not much and we use the battery that's better and a slightly better motor than the top of the line and we'll keep it cheap around 4 grand and have it RTA which will bring it down to about three grand and even a sun can afford one. I also do it with dirt bikes and street bikes of certain types that are regular ones and it was done a little bit back in the day and it takes a small box and cheap cheap on delivery and that doesn't take too long to assemble then we'll start sending other things broken down then we'll start hiring people to assemble it's really a process that's happened but these are great ideas there's a lot of things you can send RTA it's easier to send they it makes a lot of money
--#other projects that are working that we started construction we're still at about 20% well no we have increased it about 40% of new construction and we're going to game busters we're on the supply side we're in the manufacturing side we're just about to take over huge areas and begin manufacturing tons of stuff it is a giant industry and we are going to be very big we have about three humongous companies and we're starting about 20 large projects in the perimeter for housing and 30 more coming up and we've got two mega projects we haven't started building cities they can have a war and it's going to be kind of slow and we won't go to warzone but sometimes they have a building removed and they want a new one and we'll do that
+#there's industries like boats campers all sorts of types we have about 1/3 of it or 30%. That's going to increase the next couple weeks as they leave the Midwest about 70 or 80% and we're going to man the factors we're going to put production and full gear we're going to look at replacing all the camper systems with panels it takes a third of the time and some much better quality vehicle and it's easier to repair. And it has much better installation and it's about 1/3 stronger. We're going to get going on that now all we need to hire people tons of people and we're looking at RTA houses we have a whole slew of designs and we have a panel that's perfect and he actually wants to build one and he has a lot of fun things he wants to do
-#converting to electric motorcycles is not huge converting electric to gas is now huge and we are looking at which motor to use brings and Stratton make some motorcycle motor just still in business we can piggy back their sales it's a great idea Coleman makes one and some motorcycle engine and they're in the United states. These are two very good ideas the Briggs & Stratton is famous for a motorcycle motor it's really a nice motor we have other things coming up but these ideas are terrific and they actually work with businesses and projects that are up and running
-we're going to start looking into making RTA items for people to buy Briggs & Stratton motorcycle was just brought up by Hera he says wow that's a great idea she's going to have him say it but she is and we're going to put together a package to make one and he likes it's not a cafe style but it looks like it it's kind of a like a triumph and newer one they look really nice they're easy to ride it's in every person motorcycle and you can we'll even put an automatic transmission brings the Stratton does that often and it's really an easy easy bike to ride and it will be fast but 150 miles an hour so I'm going to put that together now we'll probably sell too many and have it RTA or assembledon I missed $3,000 RTA and 4,000 assembled it's nothing and it's really worth it. We have other vehicles and things to sell and we're going to get going on it we do need to start and as soon as possible. We do have some success with the harvester is 10 companies trying two of them have the body ready and all the other parts are coming together within the couple weeks or a week and they have decent packages and it's for the small SUV
More shortly
Thor Freya
It's very nice that it's working and it's hopeful it's a decent portion of the automotive industry and they'll be making more and more and will be making things can't piggybacking where possible
Briggs & Stratton is one of the best ideas he's ever heard he says Troy-Bilt tractors are not being sold too much people don't have a demand for that kind of yard work equipment but everybody wants a motorcycle so I'm going to look at other vehicles like a REV trike street bike and more even off-road stuff
Hera
Troy-Bilt is known to have a lot of land working equipment mostly for farming and for breaking sod and growing things and it's really landscaping work they had a landscaping division and they did pretty good with that you did a lot of projects a lot of people bought tillers. It was one of the number one sellers it was everywhere and people are making their own gardens. My husband and I suggest to start that up again and offer a small equipment to begin with that are actual lawn tractors I say that because these lawn mowers don't do crap they don't have the horsepower and they don't have the torque at all and they don't have machinery parts that can last it breaks down if you try and do yard work and the Troy bilt did not so people loved it and I want to start there and then start making the Troy-Bilt tractor my husband used one it's a it was a different brand it was very small but it was a backhoe it was smaller than the lawn mower he used to know is about the same size and it had a backhoe attachment excavator bucket and he dug up the driveway when he was a boy and we want to go ahead and make those and then make them a little bigger and a little bigger and we'd stop at what he calls a small backhoe but it's really a mid size and that would be for light duty backhoe work and would start with Briggs & Stratton and Coleman can can make them but they be RTA and it's telling us it saves like half the price and excavator the size of the one that he did the pool with they'll sell for about $25,000 and you could sell it for about $15,000 RTA and it would be delivered for a couple thousand dollars but really you're saving about 10 grand by doing it that way and with this product it probably end up costing about $12,000 or $10,000 they seem more like $10,000 and shipping for a thousand so you're saving $16,000 or something $15,000 it's a lot of money and brings very reliable and we can make all switches small piece of equipment in the all over the United States before you can blink
Hera Zues
We needed for construction and landscaping utility work really a lot of it and for the small ones we need it now that's kind of tough to do right now is not really true so if you combine Troy-Bilt and bring some Stratton you've got a business and you start with the smaller tractors and they order more of them asking to ask and ask we're going to do that to talk dirty to make them real simple and blast them out and we're going to go ahead and do it
Thor Freya you still need intermediaries for this particular product line do you see what our intention is it's to do the lawn equipment the farming the small farm equipment larger tractors for farming not huge ones and up to mid size backhoe and excavator and front end loader and those are and we would probably have a small dump truck most dump trucks can't do the work
..

Last Song: I have Tears by Boy Harsher on repeat 💜
Last Show: Big Little Lies. Never thought it would be my thing at all, and it kind of isn’t, but I enjoyed it a surprising amount. I will never not love Nicole Kidman.
Currently watching: I’m doing both House of the Dragon and The Rings of Power. The latter with gritted teeth, and a huge grudge. Tolkien ending up in the fangs of the real life equivalent of Smaug (Jeff Bezos) is an insult to me personally, but I also respect some of the Tolkien Scholars that were involved in the making, and especially the designers a lot, so. House of the Dragon I can enjoy with a lot less emotional baggage.
Currently reading: The Once And Future King, which I am ashamed to say I’ve never touched before.
Current Obsession: Still going through a prolonged motorsports phase. I’m a hypocrite because I want to boycott the Tolkien series to my own detriment and am simultaneously willing to fill the pockets of one Dietrich Mateschitz (aka evil Red Bull Guy), but all of my deathwish Blorbos are Red Bull drivers and very sexy, and such is life. Maxy Verstappen is gonna win his second star so I don’t have to worry about him, but Mani Lettenbichler can still lose his Hard Enduro Crown, which he deserves more than anyone because he had to sit on a broken ankle for one race and is leading with one race to go. In other news, my favorite Moto GP rider (Jack Miller) is joining my favorite team (KTM), and my second MotoGP fave (Viñales) isn’t embarassing himself anymore, which almost makes up for Dani Pedrosa not racing anymore. I’m very invested in these super rich men driving hellmachines and I’m only a tiny bit sorry.
Tagging uh @notafraidofredyellowandblue @tinnike @nyarisu
PS.: does someone have that video of Richard in the terrible shirt at that one salt lake race, I need to remember what he said and why he was there.

A Mountain Biker’s Glossary Of Terms
CTTO
https://twowheeledwanderer.com/posts/mountain-bike-terminology
If you’re just starting out (or even if you’ve been mountain biking for awhile), the terms and slang thrown around by mountain bikers on and off that trail can be confusing. What the heck does sandbagging mean and why are people saying send it!?
So to help you demystify what your trail buddies are saying, below is a complete glossary for mountain bike terms and slang.
Here are the most popular mountain bike terms and slang used on and off the trail.
#
1X
Pronounced “one by”, this refers to having only one chain ring at the front of the drivetrain as opposed to two or three. Most new mountain bikes (although not all) will come as a 1X since it makes shifting smoother and easier.
27.5”
Refers to a bike with 27.5-inch wheels.
29ER
Refers to a bike with 29-inch wheels.
A
ARMOR
1. Protective gear worn by mountain bikers such as neck braces, torso armor, knee and elbow guards, or spine protectors.
2. A section of trail, particularly the banks of washes or areas prone to erosion, that are covered by a layer of rocks. These sections are commonly referred to as ‘armored’.
ATTACK POSITION
This refers to the body position of a rider as they are going down a steep or technical trail. Attack position usually involves being up and out of the seat, dropper post all the way down, chest lowered to the handlebars, elbows out wide, and eyes looking ahead.
B
BABY HEADS
Round rocks in the middle of a trail that look like, well… the size of baby heads…
BAIL
When a mountain biker ditches their bike to avoid a more serious crash.
“He bailed when he saw that it was a gap jump and not a drop.”
BERM
A banked corner formed out of dirt and/or rocks. Bermed turns can be ridden much faster and smoother than a flat corner because there’s less concern of washing out. Most flow trails are constructed of linked bermed turns.
BOARDWALK
A boardwalk is a manmade (usually wooden) bridge that spans a depression in the ground or elevates the trail over marshy areas. Boardwalks can be wide or they can be narrow. See also skinny.
BOMB
To go as fast as you can down a trail.
“You bombed down that! I bet you got a PR.”
BONK
To run out of energy on the trail.
“I bonked massively today. I couldn’t even pedal up the last small climb.”
BOOTER
A small little jump either in the middle of the trail or off to the side. Booters tend to form from natural objects that are already on the trail like roots, tree stumps, and rocks. See also kicker.
BREAKAWAY
A style of helmet that has a removable chin guard. They can be used as a typical ‘half lid’ helmet or as a ‘full-face’ DH helmet depending on the terrain. Simply snap on or remove the chin guard based on what you plan to ride. See also lid, half-lid, and full-face.
BROWN POW
Also known as ‘hero dirt’, brown pow refers to optimal riding conditions like grippy loam and slightly damp soil. See also hero dirt.
BUNNY HOP
A mountain bike skill that involves first lifting the front wheel off the ground and then the back wheel while the front wheel is still in the air. It’s used to hop over trail features and it definitely makes you look cool.
C
CASE
When a rider doesn’t clear a jump completely and their back tire clips the top of the landing. This can be no-big-deal or it can pitch the rider over the handlebars.
“He just totally cased that jump. Glad he was able to ride it out!”
CHAIN SLAP
The noise and feel of the bike chain hitting the chainstay.
CHAIN SUCK
When the chain either falls off the big ring into the spokes or falls off the small ring between the frame and crank.
CHATTER
Used to describe rocky, loose trail conditions. Often refers to the sound the bike makes going down rough sections of trail. See also chunder.
“That section of trail was loose and chattery.”
CHUNDER
A term used to describe rocky and loose trail conditions, typically at a higher level than chatter. If a trail is chundery, it has a lot of rocks and loose debris.
CLEAN
To ride through a tough section of trail without crashing, stopping, or taking the feet off the pedals.
“She just cleaned the hardest part of this trail!”
D
DAB
When you put a foot down, but don’t actually stop the bike when you’re either riding up or down a technical section. It usually happens when you lose balance, but not so much so that it halts your effort.
DH
Short for downhill. DH trails tend to be highly technical and require advanced skills. This style of riding is the most extreme and high stakes.
DIALED
Dialed is similar to using the word ‘impressive’ in a mountain bikers vocabulary. A ‘dialed bike’ could have custom components and an awesome paint job. A ‘dialed jump’ could be built so well that it’s easy and effortless. A ‘dialed rider’ could be someone who nails every turn and corner without making one mistake.
DOUBLETRACK
Refers to a wide trail that may have once been an old road (or still is). Typically they’re used to connect other mountain bike trails. See also singletrack.
DOWNSLOPE
The landing surface of a jump, tabletop, or drop. This is usually slanted downwards to prevent the rider from landing on flat ground (which does not feel good).
DROP
A trail feature that has a flat entrance that then drops away abruptly. Drops can be several inches or several feet and they can be manmade (ex wooden ramps) or they can be natural (ex a rock drop). See also feature.
E
ENDO
When a mountain biker crashes and goes over the bars. See also OTB.
ENDURO
A style of riding that includes a mix of both cross-country trails and DH (downhill) descents. Enduro racing involves multi-stage - and sometimes multi-day - segments with untimed climbs and timed descents.
F
FEATURE
A notable obstacle on the trail such as a jump, drop, rock roll, tabletop, rock garden, etc… Features vary widely in technicality from easy rock rollers to steep rock faces.
FLATTED
When a tire loses air due to a puncture.
“I flatted… thankfully I have a spare tube!”
FLOW

G
GAP/GAP JUMP
A type of jump that has no central surface. There is a lip to take off from and a downslope to land on, but in the middle there is a gap. As opposed to a tabletop, which has a flat central surface between the take off and landing. See also lip, downslope, and tabletop.
GROM
A young mountain biker who is gung-ho about ripping down trails.
H
HALF LID
A bike helmet that isn’t a full-face. In other words, a ‘typical’ bike helmet. See also lid, full-face, and breakaway
HARDTAIL
A bike that only has front fork suspension. Hardtails do not have a rear shock, making them harsher, but faster, to ride.
HERO DIRT
Another term for brown pow. Hero dirt refers to optimal riding conditions where the soil or loam is grippy and fast. Hero dirt often comes a day or two after a rain. See also brown pow.
HIP JUMP
A form of jump that requires the rider to change direction or orientation of the bike in mid-air.
HUCK
When a rider propels themselves off a jump or drop. It usually refers to something big and consequential.
“I can’t believe he just hucked himself off of that drop and landed it!”
I
ITALIAN PIT STOP
When the fastest members on a group ride take a break on the trail and then immediately leave when the slowest rider rolls ups.
K
KICKER
A small or large jump with a steep take-off. Kickers usually involve hang-time in the air. See also booter.
KIT
More widely used in the road bike community, kits are the outfits that bikers wear. Racers usually have custom-made kits that announce their sponsors and last name.
KLUNKER
An old and out-dated mountain bike.
KOM
Stands for “King of the Mountain”. This is a Strava term for the fastest male rider on a specific Strava segment. See also QOM.

The edge of a jump’s takeoff or landing.
LOAM
A form of grippy dirt that is often found in forested areas like the Pacific Northwest and parts of the UK. Unlike brown pow or hero dirt, which appear after rain, loam is the normal riding condition.

OTB
Stands for ‘Over The Bars". When a mountain biker crashes and goes over the handlebars. See also endo.
P
PEDAL STRIKE
When a pedal hits the ground or a rock/obstacle while riding. This could be no-big-deal or it could cause you to go flying 10 feet into the bushes.
PINCH FLAT
A flat that occurs when a bike’s tire gets so compressed that the inner tube gets ‘pinched’ between the wheel rim and the tire and the tube is punctured. It’s also sometimes called a snakebite because the puncture is actually two small holes that look like a snakebite. You can’t get a pinch flat with tubeless tires because there are no inner tubes.
PINNED
Typically refers to a group of riders that are moving at speed along (usually down) a trail and keeping a tight formation.
“We were pinned coming down that! If any one of us had crashed it would have been bad news.”
POACH
When a mountain biker illegally rides a trail that is either closed for maintenance or not open to bikers at all (ie a hiking trail). It can also refer to riding a private network without paying the entrance fee.
PR

ROCK GARDEN
A trail feature that includes lots of embedded rocks.
ROCK ROLL
A rock that you can roll on top of and then off of.
ROOST
To kick up dirt and sand from the back tire after whipping around a loose turn. The term ‘roost’ is derived from rooster tail.

TRACKSTAND
A bike skill that involves standing still on your bike without pedaling. It’s a great skill to learn for tackling slow-speed tech.
TRAVEL
The amount of change the front fork and rear shock experience after riding a trail or feature. A lot of travel means you used most of the suspension on your shocks while less travel means you didn’t go through much travel. Travel also refers to how much suspension a bike fork or shock has (ex 150mm in the fork and 140mm in the rear).
TUBELESS
A tire set-up that doesn’t involve inner tubes. Instead, sealant is injected into the tires. When a tire is punctured, the sealant ‘seals up’ the hole and congeals to form a plug.
W

READ MORE: Ricciardo admits he’s ‘keen to have a crack’ in RB19 but says time off from racing ‘feels right’ Pit-stops included visits to a cattle station, the outback city of Broken Hill, the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge and one of Australia’s most famous circuits, Mount Panorama – all combining for a dream homecoming trip. To help Ricciardo along the way, Red Bull also called on some local racing experts in Supercars champion Shane Van Gisbergen, enduro motorsports legends Toby Price and Daniel Sanders, and aerobatic pilot Matt Hall. I fondly remember my 50cc Peugeot XPS I got at age 16 with the insurance payout from when someone in a van rear ended me on my scooter. It was the street variant although I'm not sure how that's different from the enduro variant except the tyres.
It was pretty well used and quite temperamental. The oil pump needed fixing once we bought it, I replaced a bunch of parts for aesthetic reasons, the low petrol light was broken (I ran out of gas on the road a few times) and even after some light work on the engine by a professional mechanic it would still eat through three or four spark plugs per summer.
If it stood unused for more than two days it would get really difficult to start; I chewed up the soles of at least one pair of sneakers doing that. A few times it had this weird problem where the magneto would strike through and lightly shock my ankle every 30 seconds.
Regardless of all that I really liked driving it, it was really fun to ride down forest paths and in disused gravel pits and it could drive up and down stairs easily :D. The previous owner had only lightly tuned it so that its maximum speed was 55km/h (I verified this by radar), so only 10km/h over the moped speed limit and this was fine for me.
Finally I think driving it and feeling like a normal teenager, maybe even a bit manlier than I was was good for my self-esteem as a closeted homosexual.

A group of wrestlers came on before Rey Mysterio and they were wearing suits little tight and they didn't fit too good and our son was thinking that show I'm coming in street clothes but I think it's better to come in with the weather wiring and they could go in and get refitted at our men's wearhouse and we're going to call it that make him bigger and have all sorts of stuff oriented things mostly suit ties shirts some jerseys blazers and nice shoes nice shoes are real hard to find and I might have a little leisure section too and a cigar smoking jackets and more and you make it a real men's store and you make it so you take measurements and you can make custom suits and everything and they're nice quality suits and the ad would have the wrestlers going in with their suits that are ill-fitting and come out in a nice fitting and they look normal and really they were using our son at work all the time for messaging it was a constant constant nuisance and Mac thought it was him and he said it's a good idea and he hurt our son's questions and gets it he didn't see it so it's on and he wants us to do the men's wearhouse and we want to do it and we're going to go ahead with it
Thor Freya
Some people have a great ideas and share she wants the box motorcycle and so our son said is it you and tried to find out and he thinks it really is her so we're going to get her a whole bunch and she wants to deal and she knows what to do with it and how to advertise it and without telling people what she's doing because it's risky but really if you're stuck out there and your car is broken down you don't want to you don't want to stay there it's not nice even though we have a huge Good Samaritan for us and it's getting bigger and we need more by the way volunteers for this duty and people to sign on and she wants a whole bunch of them and still going to get it to her and it is a dream thing this bike and it's not a little teeny thing it weighs quite a bit but they're not weak and a smaller one would be nice but it won't go as far and that's the problem and really it's only 30 inches high by about 38 in Long and he says that's kind of big and we might make a scooter version cuz she did mention a lot of trunks won't fit it you need a SUV you can see it in there but it is good for trips for camping and even putting it on the back you can put two in box form and we have like a little box that go into that goes on the hitch and two of them and their dirt bikes and they're a lot of fun and they're enduro and they're for the street. The prototypes for the scooter so we brought one down to her and we're going to bring it down we already have it and she says terrific and it looks like a motorcycle it just looks like one of those Chinese ones with a smaller tires it's not the size of the Grom it's a little bigger and doesn't make you look like real stupid motorcycle and it strings down to like 25 inches high by 30 in Long which is a lot smaller and Max says that's good I can use one smaller but he might not want to but this will fit in most trunks almost every trunk or the back seat and people with two and just put it in a box we're going to start making these scooters and you can fit stuff in the trunk with it most trunks are 25 in high and this is only eight and 30x25 it's not that big and it really moves goes about 80 and gets about 500 miles per charge and charges in 15 minutes and it does have two batteries no but it's smaller and that's why.
It's not really a scooter it's like a small motorcycle
Thor Freya
We're getting huge orders it's not even like in production
I want one of these scooters and I want it now I'm still at the show and he says they're going to arrange to come down and meet that's a good place to meet them or all pumped up and stuff. So it's going to be nice I'm going to see it I'm going to love it and then I want him to have one so I can ride up on him so you know what I mean you like that girl jogging that's some really s*** right there these girls are pretty soft says at least they don't want to make more oh well they do I guess. I heard your DNA can overcome it and I mean it the kid would be too big maybe smaller than me but too big I mean it too the society is not ready for giganntis so I'm thinking about it and wondering why you're saying it and I get it it would be huge but you can put your bike in the corner so small in there you're never going to fit but he says this I don't have any choice at all no choice I can't even look around I tried looking a little and it worked in this affordable stuff but nobody responded let me know about that so we're going to go ahead and start looking cher says. Some after her insurance says and so just calm down Sherry I need to have someone to get the contract from no need to fight everybody and it won't work because these idiots and so on it's too dangerous grandma yeah I see that I might try and get the scooter that was weird it might not be mac that was strange.
We're going to make this scooters everybody wants one the only way like maybe a hundred pounds or 90 lb and it's electric you can charge it in your trunk and you can have an indicator it tells you if it's charged with you and tons of people will do it and it'll go 500 miles so a lot of people have to park and ride it's a perfect thing for that

Best Mountain Bikes
Yes, it is 2019, but 2018 is still a good year to review, and it is pretty recent, so, our review of the best mountain bikes will have to come from that year, seeing as 2019 has only just begun, we would have to wait until, maybe, the second or maybe third quarter if the year to get a review for 2019.
Now, when we say, “best mountain bike,” of course, this depends on a lot of factors, and it is mostly relative, depending on the individual making the purchase. There are things to consider if you’re going to call a mountain bike best, things like, your budget, your location terrain, your taste in bikes, and also, your riding style. Mountain bikes, like with other parts that concern cycling, is broken down into different niches that are nested in other niches, hoping to optimize them for their natural use.
The bikes reviewed in this article have mostly between 120mm and 162mm of travel, and this puts them in the Enduro or in the Trail category. Just like we have all-wheel drive, people often refer to bikes in the endure or trail category as all-mountain bikes, this makes them the perfect fit for riding any trail

Now, when we say, “best mountain bike,” of course, this depends on a lot of factors, and it is mostly relative, depending on the individual making the purchase. Just like we have all-wheel drive, people often refer to bikes in the endure or trail category as all-mountain bikes, this makes them the perfect fit for riding any trail.
