This took me like a full day to draw, and it took half as long just working out how I was going to post this, because my scanner made it look extremely crusty, so I had to wait until we got a day with sunlight to take a decent pic of this (I live in the north west of England and its winter so… I had to wait a few days). But anyway, here’s a wee profile:

Zed (known as Zeteki during the beginning of the story) is the main character of my story, they are a 33 year old (as of the start of the story, which takes place in 2014) pool frog who is the fairly reserved but confident founder and frontman of the band ‘Spawn’. (He is also non-binary, and goes by both he/him and they/them pronouns).

He is autistic, and has a special interest in music - he can play a lot of instruments, though he is best at piano, and it is the only instrument he can manage to play while simultaneously singing, as it requires the least amount of concentration for him. Zed is actually mostly mute when it comes to speaking, finding singing a much easier way to vocalise. They generally communicate in British sign language (BSL), and carry a notebook around with them to help speak to those who don’t understand sign. They learnt to sing during speech therapy when they were a child, but they had to learn sign language for themself much later in life, so they also use a handful of improvised signs with their family and their closest friend, Bufo.

Zed is creative and loves writing music, but he likes the idea of collaboration a lot more, so he did most of the pushing to get a band together. He’s open to many different genres and songwriting ideas, and he helps the other members out with their song/lyric writing. One of his favourite solo hobbies, however, is going to the park early in the morning and playing music at the band stand.

I’ll leave it at that for now before this becomes a complete essay…!
