“Alright, I’m coming. I’m coming.” Steve said wiping his hands as he put down the plate he was washing on a towel.
He couldn’t think of any reason for someone to be knocking. He hadn’t ordered anything and people texted before coming over.
“Who is it?” He threw the towel over his shoulder as he opened the door.
It was a walrus.
Steve closed the door.
Nope. Walruses were from the ocean up by the Arctic. That was thousands of miles away from here. There was absolutely no way at all a walrus could be at his apartment door. It would die hundreds of different ways before getting here. A walrus made no sense here.
Maybe he was hallucinating.
Steve slowly opened the door again.
The walrus was still there rubbing its flippers together and somehow looking guilty.
Steve knew that mannerism.
“Mark?” The walrus brightened.
“Mark, you’re a walrus. How? What? Why are you a walrus?”
A loud buzzing came from a small creature that zipped around from behind Mark the walrus.
“Oh, that would be me.” Came the high pitched voice.
Steve took a step back, “You’re a fairy!”
“Ah-ha, you said he was smart, looks like that was true at least.” She said to the walrus, then turned toward Steve. “Yes, I am a fairy, Twinklewings. Nice to meet you.”
“Oh Mark, what have you gotten yourself into this time? Come in and let’s figure this mess out.”

PINNED POST!!!
This is a web-log about webcomics, thus the name
Started in 2012 but immediately abandoned, revived in 2022 to be a place for me to share my thoughts about my favorite webcomics and about the medium of webcomics in general.
My favorite webcomics still running are El Goonish Shive and Order of the Stick, and I’m also still a big admirer of Gunnerkrigg Court.

I’ve been finishing up some presents. My back and shoulders were aching from being all hunched over adding pictures to lockets and making necklaces. Making a spouse willing to give a massage helps a lot to fix the mood.

That was exciting, a nephew needed a ride to the airport because the bus didn’t show. So that was a bit of a surprise with having to manage being in two places at once but we managed.

There are days.
The computer has been acting up. System data was filling the disk no matter how much I deleted. So I reformatted and am restoring from backup. I made 3 just to be sure.

So I was taking out the trash when I looked in the dumpster and saw this huge roll of paper.
This will be perfect for crafting, making patterns and so much more.
I ended up roping it out just before it started to rain.

I’m about halfway through Elantra’s by Brandon Sanderson. I figured I would read that since reading Tress and the Emerald Sea and Yumi and the Nightmare Painter both referred to them.
Opening with the main character being dead is certainly a choice. The characters are certainly compelling but this book is heavy on the political intrigue. That one of the characters has a big old countdown timer hanging over them, that on one else knows about, is pretty neat. People making choices that they acknowledge are less than ideal.
What is really fun are how nuanced they all are, with different goals and strengths and weaknesses. Brandon certainly seems to enjoy his huge casts of character.
Given what I know of Brandon’s writing I am expecting a Chekhov’s Firing Squad near the end, because he’s opening lots of threads.

What a day. Spent 80% of it just moving three pieces of furniture 4 inches to the left.
But you have to take everything off and out because it's too heavy otherwise. and then put it all back.
also did hang a mirror and put up some sheer fabric remnant from JoAnn to act as a defuser for the lights above my desk.
Adjustments still need to be made and a few things put back but we are close and I am so done.
