pairing: jungkook x new idol!reader

genre: angst to comfort fluff

• you’re in the studio, about to run the routine for your hundredth time

• you stayed behind to “get some extra practice in” while everyone else left

• you felt extremely behind and frustratingly insecure, nervous you were being outperformed by the other girls

• (you were doing just fine — in fact, more than fine. many of the girls looked up to you)

• you’ve run the routine so many times that tremors rack your body as sweat drips down your back, but you press play again

• staring at yourself in the mirror, you mentally and physically prepare yourself to run it again full out

• unbeknownst to you, jungkook had also stayed after hours just working on some things when he heard music coming from the dance studio, so he decided to peep through the glass window on the door — curious why you guys still had practice

• when he noticed it was just you, he thought that made more sense; out of curiosity, he lingered for a few moments to see what you were working on

• he watched as you gracefully and methodically displayed the moves, a small proud smile present on his lips

• however, he was confused to see you abruptly stop and kick the floor in a fuss, uttering words under your breath and walking over to pause the music

• while staring at yourself in the mirror, you were critical. this was incorrect. that move was the wrong time. missed that step. forgetting about facials?

• the second you feel like you did something wrong, you cease all motions and curse at yourself, wondering how you fucked it up again

• jungkook knew he should get going, but he felt drawn to watch you again as you regain your position after starting the track over

• you nervously swipe the sweat on your forehead with the sleeve of your hoodie and fidget with the bottom of its hem while waiting for your cue to come in

• again, you seem to be performing without a flaw, and jungkook is impressed

• but, like clockwork, your perfectionist mindset finds something to beat yourself up on and you, once more, abruptly stop dancing

• the pure exhaustion you feel mixed with the anger at yourself for fucking up AGAIN has your nose burning and tears welling in your eyes

• your knees give in as jungkook watches your form sink to the floor

• he debates on coming in (is he intruding?) until he notices small sobs plaguing your frame on the floor

• “y/n..?” he gently calls out, careful not to frighten you as he enters the studio

• you immediately duck your head down and wipe at the tears staining your cheeks, still sunken in defeat on the floor

• you muster out a greeting and finish wiping at your face before you make your way back up onto your feet, purposefully avoiding eye contact. “what’s up?” you offer, hoping he didn’t see you totally embarrass yourself

• “heard music… wanted to come check it out” he begins, watching you avoid eye contact and, instead, ogle at the floor. “how’re you doing?”

• “good… i should get going,” you claim, brushing past him in order to pack up your belongings

• jungkook knew something was up — you normally greeted him with an ear-to-ear smile and a warm hug, even when your spirits were down

• “you know… it’s okay to be hard on yourself” he quietly states, watching the back of your body as you move to pack your stuff, noticing how you freeze at his words

• “i’m the same way. trust me, i get it” jungkook says as he takes a step closer

• “but you also have to remember that you’re human and make mistakes — especially when overworked, exhausted, and frustrated” he reaches his arm out and lightly touches your fingertips with his when he sees your head tip down, not sure of how you were receiving his comments

• “y/n?” he calls at your lack of response; but then he notices your shoulders rapidly shrugging and your breathing become jagged, so he fully grasps your hand to turn you around to face him finally

• you’re silently sobbing, tears streaming down your rosy cheeks as your eyes crinkle with raw emotion

• you still do not make eye contact, feeling extremely vulnerable, but you cannot prevent the sobs from leaving your lips and wrecking your body

• with one final call of your name, jungkook wraps his arms around your frame and pulls you into a tight embrace

• for once, you don’t run from physical affection and your own vulnerability. you want to push jungkook away. you want to push all of these feelings deep down and bottle them up. you want to grab your things in a hurry and run out of the studio in embarrassment. but instead, you give in

• you wrap your arms around jungkook’s torso tightly and grip onto his shirt as if you’re afraid he will disappear if you don’t hold on tight enough

• you sob into his chest, trying to find the words to explain yourself, small syllables escaping, but no matter how hard you try you can’t form a sentence without sucking in a breath and continuing crying

• “ssshh, shh, it’s okay” he whispers into your ear as he continues to hold you, the hand on your back tracing small shapes while the other is gently on the back of your head, encouraging you to let it out

• when you finally are able to make out words, the phrase “i can’t” endlessly falls from your lips and you mutter it like a mantra into his chest

• jungkook places his hands on your shoulders to steady you as he gently puts just enough distance in between you two to finally get a good look at you

• “you can,” he starts, but he observes you still won’t lift your eyes to meet his, so he softly places two fingers underneath your chin to encourage you to raise your head

• when you finally lock eyes with jungkook, he says it stronger this time, like he’s sure of it: “you can.”

• he feels a pang in his chest at your puffy cheeks, puppy dog eyes, and swollen jutted out bottom lip. he knows what this feels like. in fact, he knows where your mind is at RIGHT NOW. and offering you any amount of comfort in this time is his main priority

• “you know you run it perfectly every time right? and these thoughts are just in your head?” he cocks his head while still looking into your eyes. “everyone here is immensely proud of you. i constantly hear great things about you. you’re your number one worst critic,” he proclaims

• “doesn’t feel that way…” you shakily respond, comfortably opening up to jungkook. “feels like i can’t do anything right”

• “that’s all up here,” he offers while softly placing his index finger on the side of your head

• jungkook lets a beat pass before the finger he had previously placed becomes a full hand cupping your right cheek

• “you’re doing great. let’s close up in here and try again with a fresh mind in the morning, huh?” he says with a pat before he’s walking towards your belongings, picking everything up for you

• “you don’t have to do that…” you call out, first feeling embarrassed but now just feeling bad that he pities you this hard

• ignoring you, he responds “what time is your practice tomorrow? 9? 10?”

• “10,” you softly respond

• “cool, be here at 9. we’ll work on anything you don’t feel confident in. you have my number right?”

• you nod, knowing it’s saved in your contacts even though you have never had a reason to formally reach out to him

• with a small (victorious) giggle and a mutter of “good,” he walks you to your car, places your belongings in the backseat, and leans into your open driver-side window with a “see you tomorrow” before patting the car door and walking back inside

• at 8:30 the next morning, you finally text jungkook and ask if you’re still on (was he just being polite and he didn’t really mean it?)

• him immediately responding with “yup. what’s your coffee order😊”

• whenever the boys watch one of your group’s practices, his eyes are always trained on you and makes sure to praise you whenever you perform well

• tells you to reach out any time you’re stressed, need help, want a second opinion, literally anything

he’d call you late at night. you’d facetime for a bit, this is what your dates have been lately due to the military. things get a bit freaky a while into the facetime call, and jungkook loses it. “i cant kiss you through the phone.” he says. you laugh, thinking he’s making a soulja boy joke bc you’re listening to it. but he’s serious, and he’s getting all worked up… he bites his lip and leans closer to the camera… “i wanna see it.. in motion… in 3D.” upon hearing this you get up to strip for him but he hangs up. you receive a text from him; an address. you go to the address and it’s the military grounds, where he sneaks you in so you can do it in 3D. but then you get shot and you die :(

SUGA

it’s a friday night. due to suga’s busy schedule, you don’t see eachother much so you want to go a bit crazy and go to the club together. he’s wearing sunglasses and a cap to disguise, so everyone in the club thinks he’s weird. he drinks a lot due to stress and judgement. “yoongi.. slow down…” but he doesnt. he’s been drinking a lot more lately but you brushed it aside as you haven’t seen it; until now. glass after glass, shot after shot… he’s almost blackout by this point. he buys a bottled beer to go home with, so you wrap your arm around him to help him out. while waiting for your uber, you turn to see he isn’t there… that’s when you hear a load bang. you immediately run down the street towards the commotion. there he is, on the ground, a wound on his head. he drunkenly laughs and sits up, but the situation isn’t laughable. beside him is a scooter and a pram. a pram that fell over.

jimin’s ideal date with you would be a karaoke bar. he loves to tease you as you try your best to sing, and of course, he loves to sing too. but he’s banned from all the karaoke bars in seoul. you’re walking along together, moreso you’re being guided along by him after he told you he ‘knows a place.’ you reach a strange part of the city, where you’ve never been. there are a lot of buff shirtless men around. “this way babe.” he tugs on your hand towards a staircase leading underground, so you follow, confused. at first glance, the place is amazing and lively, a cool underground club, you figure it’s probably so hidden because it’s for celebrities only. but upon walking further into the club…. “jimin! what the fuck?! this is a gay bar!”

tae has always been reluctant about taking you out due to his dislike of PDA, and of course, the attention to his public image. you understand, dispatch can ruin careers after all. he calls you to come over, so you do. you reach the apartment and notice how foggy the windows are, is he cooking? you smile to yourself happily, smitten at the fact that beyond his stoic image, tae would cook for you. you walk in and immediately begin coughing. you stumble into the room, tripping over something on the floor. it’s hard to see through the smoke, steam, vapor..? what is this? but after crouching down and picking up what you tripped over, you can see it’s a vape. not just one, the whole floor is covered… emerging from the clouds, tae holds one out to you. “choof sesh?”

jin is usually a stay at home watch movies and snuggle type, so when you got the text asking you to come out with him, you were more than excited. you dress yourself up to look your best, and meet him outside. he compliments you which makes you blush, but then there’s an awkward silence. he waits, until you compliment him too. then you go, and arrive at a carnival. walking along together, getting cotton candy (he won’t eat it but at least he paid), playing games, going on rides… it’s so much fun. until you go into the hall of mirrors. at first it’s funny, seeing so many of your reflection, but of course it’d get boring after a while. “jin, let’s go!” but he doesn’t answer. he’s entranced by his reflection, and refuses to leave. good luck getting him out…

namjoon likes to make dates personal and meaningful. he wants to connect, not just through your bodies, but your mind and heart. when he told you he wants to show you where he grew up your heart was touched and you couldn’t wait. the car trip is fun, and eventually you pull up to a run down part of the city. checking your location on your phone, you knew this wasn’t where he grew up. “babe-“ before you can speak, he cuts you off, sighing and shaking his head and he drives slowly and looks melancholically out the window. “this is my hood.” you look at him in confusion, he seems totally lost in thought. he’s still driving, but you go to open the door to hint you wanna go and see it for yourself. before your hand reaches the handle he quickly grabs it. “don’t. it’s not safe out there…”

jhope had recently recovered from his emo phase so you could finally enjoy time with him, and you couldn’t wait. he invited you over. upon entering, he greeted you with excitement, wearing a cute apron and ushering you towards the kitchen to show the meal he prepared. you’re beyond surprised and excited, your heart warmed from this gesture. you sit at the kitchen counter as he continues cooking, the room filled with laughter and joy. he falls into conversation with you, his back facing the stove as you joyfully exchange conversation. until suddenly, a fire breaks out. he turns to face it, his expression unreadable as you scram to get the fire extinguisher. you run over but he silently holds a hand out, gesturing for you to stop. “what if.. what if…. what if i have no dream? no hope?” he mumbles, his expression still as he stares into the fire. “hoseok we need to put it ou-” he shushes you, still staring into the fire. “let it burn. let it all burn.”

his jaw clenched as he watched you talking with jungkook. immediately getting jealous with the idea of you flirting with a different man. it took him a moment then realized you were doing it to get a rise out of him. he sat down and watched everything unfold. smiling to himself at how awkward you looked because you were already expecting him to be with you and ask what was happening. he watched as the painful conversation ended and you walked over. “what was that about?” he smiled softly as you thought. “oh i was asking about his piercing, i told him it looked nice,” he nodded then smiled at you. “flirting is not for you at all,” you blushed as you realized he caught on to what you were doing.

Personally, I’m about 90% sure he does it on purpose and tells them no photoshop unless it’s funny and that’s why they put him in oversized shirts now. Plot twist, that’s not a style choice on his part, it’s his staff like Yoongi pls you’re ruining people’s lives

Like they can understand each other without talking, cuddle together, sharing food with each other, deeply care for each other but in a platonic/sibling kinda way. honestly i love this concept.

namjoon: would try and rationalize the situation. like "they have known them longer" or "they're just closer than i am with them". but would soon try and do what he could to get closer to their crush. i also feel like he would be the one to try and pull away depending on the situation, maybe like respects the friendship or feels like he can't handle it.

jin: would try and out do the friend. wants all of their attention and would become more jealous if their crush doesn't prioritize him. can see him trying to ask their crush out if only to push the friend away.

yoongi: see, he is a hard one to pin down. i think it depends on how much they like their crush. if they really like their crush, they would talk to them about the friend. make clear boundaries so no one gets hurt. but i also feel like he would be understanding of the friendship, as long as hes the one kissing you at the end of the day.

hoseok: probs would get a little jealous, go to talk to the friend, but then end up friends with the friend. like yeah, he'd be jealous but then he'd just insert himself into the friendship and like, take it over.

jimin: would be the jealous type. all of your attention has to be on them. he hates how close you are to your friend and would definetly try to steer you away or make it so where you don't need the friend for those things, only him.

taehyung: hes also another hard one to pin down. i feel like he might be a combination of yoongi and jimin. would want to respect the friendship and ignore the jealousy or would absolutely try to have you become dependent on him and seek him out for these things instead of the other friend.

jungkook: oh completely jealous. do we not remember the perilla leaf incident. needs all your attention and will not share your affections with anyone. you're his and not the friends. even if it is a crush right now. will keep you from the friend, or wiill make the friend so uncomfortable they leave.
