Except, not really. Thank the alien god for that. No, Kirsch has known about Goetia for a while, with the same intimacy shared only between enemies. It’s what they had been, after all. Not that Goetia should or could remember - though he seems to know of Kirsch to some ( albeit differently ) degree.

It goes like this: Kirsch has seen and fought Goetia six times over. Maybe seven, if he survived that one loop with Daybit, though it’s doubtful. It played out almost the same every time: one dead Crypter in London, one Doctor passing into light during the time temple. He’s read the tablets of destiny over and over. He knows that mocking laughter, that singular, sad smile at the end when everything’s failed and crumbling. You would think there’d be animosity there. You could assume hate. But repetition breeds familiarity, and from that familiarity there’s understanding. The beast who knew not of love perhaps loved harder than anyone, without realisation or recognition. ( One must wonder if he got the same speech at the end, or not. How he made it through without Mashu’s shield. If he hit him, and how hard it must’ve stung. )

So, that said, it’s almost easy for Kirsch to approach him with that vague, understanding air. He’s not going to say it; it’s still something of secret. And, you know, despite everything, they get on well enough. Strange friends. Former antagonists, turned something else. He likes giving Goetia cooking lessons and when the topic turns philosophical, he can follow with an easy pace. There’s these subtle differences between Roman and Goetia, despite wearing the same face. Different eyes, different frown. Goetia mumbles like it’s anyone’s business. He leaves the door unlocked on Monday’s because he knows Goetia likes walks in the mornings and loiters before heading home. There’s serious consideration in asking if Goetia wants to start a bakery, just to see how it goes ( and because of the reaction, whatever it may be ).

It’s a odd friendship, but not a bad one.

a word about my dreams the past few days.

1- soooo unimaginative stop trying to psychic drive me into a meth binge its not working. hand me all the bubblepipes u want, spark it up for me. i don’t wake up itching. so weak, to think that’d work. ur jokin me, u gotta be.

2- psychic lady i don’t know! i turned a corner in a warehouse in arizona where i was practicing my matrix kung fu and found myself in my vintage oddities shop that i don’t own and haven’t been in before, and there you were at the counter, looking like a biracial iris apfel! i greeted you “you look positively incredible! positively incredible!” and you were taken aback, thinking i was just overly polite at such a deep subconscious level and not honest. standing on the counter was a blown glass house, and you said “will you sell me your house?” i looked at the item, but you didn’t mean that house, you were teasing. you said you’d like a bracelet from inside the counter. i turned to get it out and to yourself you said “what do we need, hmm? some discipline?” “oh, my, sounds interesting…” i said, picturing getting some sexy discipline from you, but realized it smacked of awkward racial dynamics and fetishism and added “but perhaps not, no, i don’t think so.” i held the glass countertop aside and grabbed the bracelet, a red glass band covered in protective eyes. you grabbed the countertop after i had withdrawn the bracelet, and began twisting and pulling it with all your might, visualizing it shatter; a learning exercise. i, not lucid, was distressed but unwilling to act against you, and said “madam, please, the glass” and willed it to flex, flex, flex. it did, for all the effort it didn’t break. and i woke up. thank you for trying to teach me…im a peculiarly difficult student.
