Important Announcement

To our dear fans,

BUCK-TICK’s vocalist Sakurai Atsushi, who was beloved by many fans, was suddenly rushed to the hospital during a concert at KT Zepp Yokohama due to poor health.

On October 19th, 2023 at 11:09 PM, he passed away due to a brainstem hemorrhage.

He left us far too soon at the age of only 57.

In accordance with the wishes of his family, the funeral service was held as a private affair with his close relatives.

We deeply apologize for the delay in the announcement of this news after the funeral.

While praying for the soul of the deceased, we would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest condolences.

Please note that we politely decline any calls, incense offerings, telegrams, flowers, or other expressions of condolences.

We ask for your understanding.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the debut of BUCK-TICK, and Sakurai has been actively involved in his work, Concluding his 35th anniversary in his hometown at the Gunma Music Center in September.

A concert was held and we were looking ahead to our 36th year, so there are many feelings of disbelief at this sudden tragedy. The band and staff are in a state of confusion, and the depth of their sadness cannot be described in words.

We plan hold a memorial service for fans at a later date.

In regards to upcoming concerts that have been announced, we would like to express our gratitude and and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to the fans and organizers.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone, fan or otherwise, who has supported Sakurai Atsushi throughout his career.

anyways i got 7 tattoos so far and the last one i made up my mind about after atsushis passing. i already had a buck-tick lyric on my arm but the other one, most recent one i got is a möbius ring which i wanted the moment i first got to know what it is, because they’re cool as hell, but it’s also a subtle nod to bran-new lover, and after being sick for a while i realized i can’t just… Not do shit because i’m scared of what will happen.

anyways here’s the tattoo when it was fresh, on my left outer leg right above the ankle. i have no healed photos lol. it tickled a lot more than the arm ones and also hurt more, not sure why:

i wish i’d gotten to see them perform. especially atsushi. he will always be special to me—all of buck tick will, truthfully. their lyrics are very close to my heart. and on my arm… though i’m thinking of touching that tattoo up with some black ink as it’s red and for some reason doesn’t quite look as smooth as all my black ink tattoos do.

anyways, it basically says “yolo + stream bran new lover”, but in a more poetic and possibly slightly cryptic way and i think that’s fun

Just gonna sit here and be sad forever. Honestly just feels like everything is downhill from here and I hate it.

we lost Geordie Walker from Killing Joke . . who my good friend Incentive is far more qualified to speak about, but obviously a true legend in music. He influenced nearly everyone you know. May he rest in power. Condolences to the band.

Buck-Tick and Killing Joke basically done in a manner of three months. Fuck 2023.

Meanwhile, I finally have my Sakurai Atsushi playlist to show you.

I stopped at 50 songs. I think that's enough to show how special he was.

No real chronological order. Tried not to have two songs from an album in a row...except for the end, because it's the end. Put a nice section in there for when Acchan gets his "noise rock guy" on. Oh yeah, it's not all smoove. He could wild out with the best of them. Of course. Don't forget, he's the reason Kyo is Kyo.
