On February 12, 1993, James Bulger was with his mother at the New Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle, near Liverpool. In a moment of distraction, James wandered away from his mother’s side. It was then that Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, both aged ten, spotted him. Security camera footage later revealed that the boys had been roaming the shopping center, attempting to lure other children before successfully leading James away.
For two miles, Thompson and Venables walked with James, leading him on a terrifying journey. Witnesses saw the boys and the distressed toddler but assumed they were siblings or that the older boys were looking after him. The journey ended at a railway line near Walton, Liverpool. There, the boys threw paint at James, kicked him, stamped on him, and threw bricks at him. They even put batteries in his mouth before they dropped a 10 kg railway fishplate him. James was then left on the tracks, where he was subsequently hit by a train.
The disappearance of James triggered an extensive search operation. The breakthrough came when CCTV footage from the shopping center was released to the public, showing James being led away by two young boys. This footage was crucial in identifying Thompson and Venables as the suspects.
The arrests of Thompson and Venables shocked the nation. The idea that two ten-year-old boys could commit such a heinous crime was incomprehensible to many. During their trial, it was revealed that the boys had planned the abduction and had even attempted to kidnap another child earlier that day. The prosecution presented compelling evidence of the boys’ culpability, including their detailed confessions and forensic evidence linking them to the crime scene.
The trial of Thompson and Venables took place at Preston Crown Court in November 1993. Both boys were found guilty of murder, making them the youngest convicted murderers in modern British history. They were sentenced to indefinite detention, with a minimum term suggested by the trial judge. This sentence sparked a fierce debate about the appropriate punishment for juvenile offenders and the capacity for rehabilitation.
The murder of James Bulger had a profound impact on the British public and legal system. The case led to a re-evaluation of how young offenders are treated within the criminal justice system. The intense media coverage and public outrage underscored the need for better child protection measures and more comprehensive support for families and communities.
Thompson and Venables were released on lifelong license in 2001, after serving eight years in detention. They were given new identities to protect them from public retribution. However, Jon Venables later returned to prison on several occasions for various offenses, reigniting public debate over the effectiveness of his rehabilitation.

Merry Pippin and Sam from the books are actually the most hobbits ever. like. frodo having them help him in this elaborate scheme to have him move away to a house in Buckland, trying SO hard to pretend that it’s bc he’s losing money and he just feels like moving and he’s like agonizing over it to himself the whole way. They get there and merry is like go take baths you stinky shits and they’re like oh well who’s gonna go first and he’s like actually I personally arranged it so there’s THREE bathtubs because I KNEW you fucking gay assholes would fight over this. Frodo working up the courage to tell them that he can’t stay there and has to go further away and they’re straight up like “LOL dude we know, youre a shit liar also you literally kept talking to yourself about for months. Plus merry saw bilbo put the ring on and disappear so he could avoid a social interaction like YEARS ago dude. so yeah danger is whatever. Btw we’re coming with you.” like. truly epic bro moments

Jon Venables, who tortured and murdered toddler James Bulger when he was 10, might be let out on parole this year after he was caught a SECOND time with child sexual abuse material (with videos/images of children as young as 2 being assaulted)! Not only that, but UK authorities are considering to resettle him in some other British colony like Canada, New Zealand or Australia because it's become so expensive for them to hide his current identity from the public.
The first time he was caught with CP they only sentenced him 2 years in prison. Was it not enough that they're so lenient on sex crimes but they have to protect this evil demon too?

A former Mafia hitman was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday in the 2018 fatal prison bludgeoning of notorious Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger. Federal prisoner Fotios “Freddy” Geas was sentenced in federal court in northern West Virginia after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Prosecutors said Geas used a lock attached to a belt to repeatedly hit the 89-year-old Bulger in the head hours after he arrived at the troubled U.S. Penitentiary, Hazelton, from another lockup in Florida in October 2018. Defense attorneys disputed that characterization, saying Geas hit Bulger with his fist. Geas, 57, already was serving a life sentence for previous violent crimes. The Justice Department said last year that it would not seek the death penalty against him in Bulger’s killing. Bulger, who ran the largely Irish gang in Boston in the 1970s and ’80s, also served as an FBI informant who ratted on his gang’s main rival, according to the bureau. Bulger strongly denied ever being a government informant. Bulger became one of the nation’s most wanted fugitives after fleeing Boston in 1994 thanks to a tip from his FBI handler that he was about to be indicted. He was captured at age 81 after more than 16 years on the run and convicted in 2013 in 11 killings and dozens of other gangland crimes.

Euuuxhh im feeling so disgusting rn. This boy on the street like touched up and down my arm and touched my hair i feel sick and gross. Nauseous.
These two boys (looking around 13-15) asked me for directions and i said to go and look at the timetable on the bus stop cus i am not about to be the helpful person who becomes a victim. So theres a blonde one and a brunette(?) one. The blonde one asked me for directions, and then the brunette one (who also had a facial deformity) asked me for a fist bump and i said "no thank you" and then the blonde one asked me again "do u know the time the bus will come?" And i said "well just check the times on the bus stop" and then the brunette boy like carressed???? My arm and my hair and said "awwh" and i said "dont touch me thank you" and walked off. AND WHILE I WALKRD OFF, the blonde one asks me again about the bus times.. LIKE R U DUMB GO LOOK AT THE TIMETABLE ON THE BUS STOP????????
And then the brunette one started following me so i ran home and told someone who works in my building and they said they'll call the police if they see the boy on the cctv, and reminded me how much cctv we have. Reassuring but still scary :(

On the morning of 2 August, 1993, 13-year-old Eric Smith was cycling his bike to summer camp in Steuben County, New York. On his way, he encountered four-year-old Derrick Robie, who was walking to the same summer camp. Smith pulled up alongside him and struck up a conversation with the younger boy.
Smith then lured Derrick to a nearby wooded area where he proceeded to strangle him, strike him with a rock. He then sexually assaulted Derrick with a stick, and poured Kool-Aid in his wounds. Several hours later, Derrick’s body was found when his mother went to collect him at the summer camp only to find that he had never arrived.
Later that night, Smith confessed what he had done to his mother who immediately called police. Smith was ordered to stand trial for the murder and there was an extensive media flurry due to his young age. His defence team argued that he had been a loner who was heavily bullied in school due to his red hair, freckles, and glasses. They called on a psychiatrist who diagnosed him with intermittent explosive disorder. His testimony was countered by a prosecution expert who argued that this disorder was very rarely seen in children.
Eric Smith was ultimately convicted of second-degree murder and was ordered to serve a minimum of nine years in prison. While incarcerated, Smith wrote an apology to the Robie family, which read:
“I know my actions have caused a terrible loss in the Robie family, and for that, I am truly sorry. I’ve tried to think as much as possible about what Derrick will never experience: his 16th birthday, Christmas, anytime, owning his own house, graduating, going to college, getting married, his first child. If I could go back in time, I would switch places with Derrick and endure all the pain I’ve caused him. If it meant that he would go on living, I’d switch places, but I can’t.”
Over the years, Smith applied for parole but was always denied. However, after serving 27 years behind bars, he was paroled in 2022.
