Favourite BTS lyrics 💜

To celebrate the many almost 6,5k holy moly followers and also the third anniversary of this blog, I made this post about my favorite Bangtan lyrics!

Mostly I wanted to say thank you and that.. I really don’t deserve you all ♥ I started this blog for my own studies but when I see your messages that it helped you too it makes my heart all fuzzy and happy~

I still want to cover many of their older songs but they just keep releasing new musicㅋㅋㅋ I know I keep talking about myself instead of giving you some real content but I’ll say this last thing. I am of course not a native Korean speaker and I sometimes do have trouble understanding all the hidden meanings in their lyrics but I can definitely see how my Korean skills have improved since starting the blog. I have been in Korea for a pretty long time too and have studied the language outside of what I post here but when I compare my skills to where i was three years ago, it’s crazy. By that I mean YOU CAN DO IT and DON’T GIVE UP because it may seem impossible but it really isn’t!! Learning a language is not impossible no matter how hard it seems, you just have to take many small steps and...  keep going, you nice ;)))) ♥

- 봄날 (2017), spring day lyrics are amazing as a whole but this particular one for me personally reminds me that everything is fleeting (no matter if bad or good). It was probably meant to be a hopeful lyric but it has this double meaning for me.

➽ 게 하다 is a grammar that can express pasivity. The 게 is a morpheme that makes adverbs out of verbs and is not hard to use ^^ 아프게 하다 means “to make someone hurt” and the whole lyric here ( 언제부터 넌 날 아프게 했던가) means “Since when did you make me hurt..” - it’s a question but of course, no response is expected.

➼ 이렇다 - to be like this    it technically uses the adverb making grammar I talked about earlier in the post and 이렇게 means “like this” or “in this way” ➼ 또 - again ➼ 멀다 - to be far (~아/어지다 grammar) ➼ 아무렇지 않다 - to be nothing at all ➼ 그렇다 - to be like that ➼ 말하다 - to say ➼ 사실 - truth

➽ I’m going to try and explain something that was mindblowing when I first figured it out!  그게 아닌가 봐 means “that’s probably not it” and I’ll try to break it down: 그게 is a shortened version of 그것이 “that thing”  아니다 is a verb I explained once before, but it needs a nominative particle to connect it to. Therefore 그것이 아닌가봐. But how do I know the ㅔ in 게 is 것이?  ㅔ looks very similar to ㅓandㅣ next to each other right? Well that’s exactly what happened when they started shortening it ^^ 것이 has ㅓandㅣnext to each other and the ㅅ just vanished... poor ㅅ. Anyways this confusion happens a lot in Korean in general. The shortened words are sometimes pretty logical and if you already had it figured out, I’m sorry for blabbling~ ;D

➽ ~ㄴ/는가 보다 is a “it seems like” grammar after you discover something and you make an assumption about something. This form ㄴ가봐 is used for 이다, 아니다 and descriptive verbs. For action verbs there’s the form ~나 보다 and even though the form is a bit different, the usage and meaning is the same. 

I want you to be your light, baby You should be your light 더는 아프지 않게 네가 웃을 수 있게 I want you to be your night, baby You could be your night 이 밤이 너에게 솔직할 수 있게
