A few weeks ago I had to present in front of my Korean class. After filming over 70 YouTube videos, I thought ‘I got this.’ I was so wrong! As soon as I got up in front of the whole class, I was shaking and as I spoke, my voice cracked. So embarrassing… My presentation was fire, but I was not. So, what happened? I thought my stage fright was cured, but it wasn’t. Filming videos alone in my room and talking in front of 30+ people are different. As an introvert, I’m more comfortable speaking one-on-one or in small groups. That’s why filming videos is perfect for me. Maybe one day I’ll be able to conquer my stage fright, but this is something that has been going on for 30+ years. When did your passion ignite for what you do? For me, it started when I was a kid. My dad used to edit clips of our favorite shows and remix them with music. My siblings and I loved it and we would watch it on repeat all day. One day, my BFF needed help with her project. I don’t know what class it was for, but I ended up editing a video for her. Back then, I was poor so I didn’t use a computer or have editing software. I edited her video using 2 VCRs and a karaoke machine. Once I was done, I gave it to my friend and she presented it to her class. Her class loved it. After that, I decided this is what I want to do. I started planning my 4 years of high school so I could go to college and become a filmmaker. Then 4 years after that, I got a BA in Radio/TV/Film. This proves that no matter where you are and what you do, you can succeed with the things you have. If you want to start creating videos for your business, you don’t need fancy equipment. Just use what you have. Luckily, with the technology we have today, it’s quick and easy. You don’t have to get creative with VCRs and karaoke machines like I did.
