To be honest, I really think that they'd switch. Character-wise I can't see them completely just one way. It feels like them being switches, encompasses their personalities much better. On a side note, I like your analysis of everything. 😊

I actually don't mind Yoo Joonghyuk switching. Feels a bit closer for his character. But not always, seldomly.

In a way, yeah. I'd choose Top Kim Dokja with switching. In other words Bottom Yoo Joonghyuk with switching. But not too much, for Yoo Joonghyuk.

Ok, so the reason why I prefer bottom joonghyuk is just that I think the guy's been neglected a lot by the fandom. He's just, kdj's love interest and Top, that's all, just the man for Kim Dokja to fall in love with and be submissive or be bottom to or expose his weaknesses to or be loved by. He's USED for Kim Dokja so much, he's used to show 'Kim Dokja is Loved' and he's just rough, cold, feral, protective, possessive, angsty, and I feel like people don't actually love Yjh, or even care about his character, unless it's for Kdj. Not as much as people love Kdj. Like seriously Yoo Joonghyuk is just used to desire Kim Dokja, as this strong alpha who will do whatever it takes to take care of Kim Dokja.

Yoo Joonghyuk is a freaking 1863 turns regressor, but instead of respecting that, people kinda use it for kdj if that makes sense? Like 'Wow Kim Dokja's top is so cool and masculine and strong, he regressed 1863 times and he's still okay, he can take care of our precious Kim Dokja'. Seriously I sometimes feel Yoo Joonghyuk's seen this way! He's just forced by people to be strong so Kim Dokja can rely on him and cry with him and show weakness to him. When... a relationship should be equal.

(And Kim Dokja is strong too, he's the main character for god's sake.)

So like yeah if we're talking about really getting in character, Yoo Joonghyuk can switch. But just like bottom kdj where he's OOC and crying and surprised and shocked and doesn't know people love him, I want Yoo Joonghyuk Bottom for that reason. So that he can be fussed over, be loved, he can rest from having to carry everything all alone, let someone (who can actually take care of people!) take care of him, and just be paid attention to as an individual person.

Seriously, it is so satisfying sometimes writing Top Kdj! I'm writing Top Kim Dokja with a more in character personality than Bottom Kim Dokja taking care of Yoo Joonghyuk. Well this is just personal satisfaction but it's like...I'm writing the guy whom Yoo Joonghyuk is used in the fandom for taking care of Bottom Yoo Joonghyuk. I'm just turning it all around and no more weak 'I need someone' kdj but a reliable, protective, knowledgeable Top Kim Dokja who takes care of and loves Yoo Joonghyuk, and shows his love to Yoo Joonghyuk. And devoted, because the one thing Kim Dokja who read Ways of Survival for 13 years is, is devoted. And Yoo Joonghyuk can just lean on Kim Dokja and let himself be taken care of for once, by the guy who takes care of people so well.

here's my summary and thoughts on the first half of episode 9, 'Words that Can't Be Written'!

595. Words that Can't Be Written (1)

so. lee hakhyun's in a terrible state, and he was pulled away by a thread of light

right, so this is definitely yoo sangah so, kimcom is aware that's something is up, but it seems they can't help out? oh hakhyun,,

lee hakhyun wakes up to jhw and ksi calling his name, and when he looks down, his body is fine. his head is not fine, probably. when jhw leaves to get water for lhh, ksi and lds come over to ask lhh what happened.

it seems he doesn't remember what had just happened he confirms with everyone that

they weren't able to find jiyoon, but she's read orv a lot. i'm sure she's still alive somewhere. but there's another question

are they really dead? did any of them end up in the underworld? are they just.. gone?

ye hyunwoo comes up and greets hakhyun then, and lhh belatedly notices people are moving around and preparing for something

emergency defense? this was happening earlier than in orv, and it wasn't planned. how did all the green zones get destroyed so quickly? ...there's only one answer to that. lhh had too much faith in yjh

god damn it, joonghyuk lee jihye goes to the stairs to watch. it's too late to persuade her to help now, but it seems ye hyunwoo has prepared everyone beforehand

to make it clear, the '7 apostles' is an orv fan club but it's led by 7 'apostles', one of which is killer king lhh again noticing the differences between this turn and kdj's turn

jung heewon. i love you. in every turn, she wants to protect,,,

orv isn't over yet. there are still stories to be told 'he couldn't even do that properly' holy shit hakhyun give kdj a break LMAO

with ye hyunwoo and gong pildu leading chungmuro station, the emergency game starts

gong pildu uses [armed zone], and his turrets take out waves of ground rats, but more continue to rush in. people fight, and people die.

lhh and ksi talk while they fight. i can see how sein didn't see the scenarios as fully real,, this is like both the most unbelievable yet believable thing ever. it's orv, who hasn't thought about what would happen if the scenarios started? but it's a whole different thing if it actually happened. there would be some separation from reality

yeah.. this could mean something going to write your own story, hakhyun?

the stuggle continues, and grolls start to emerge along with the ground rats. grolls are 8th grade monsters, and take a lot more to kill than a ground rat eventually, gong pildu needs to reload, and hakhyun's party steps up to cover the gap they manage to survive that long, but gong pildu was getting tired. kim dokja had given him a ton of potions, but hakhyun.. well, he's about to, but gong pildu calls hyunwoo

HE WENT ALL IN ON MAGIC POWER. THIS INSANE KID i commend him for being so attached to a character he'd base his whole strategy around them. the 'tech tree' that hyunwoo had been talking about all this time was for this. he's putting everything into surviving with gong pildu

good for him! the constellations took notice too (i don't know if i've mentioned this before, but pay attention to the constellation who hasn't revealed a modifier. he keeps showing up with,, interesting messages.)

but, someone says the words.

don't know if i talked about this before, but the last time someone said things were going 'smoothly', things did NOT go well. a screenshot from chapter 558

if you find yourself in the scenarios, do not say smoothly ^^

so, there are phases now, and a giant 7th grade monster appeared. the pildu and hyunwoo combo can not deal with this. but there's someone who can.

jung heewon! with her new attribute, 'judge of demons', she's able to deal with a monster at this point only yoo joonghyuk would be able to kill.

oh!! she learnt a skill on her own!! jung heewon!!! catching the interest of the constellations too jhw against an imaginary yjh.. getting thrown off a bridge would do that to you jhw was really strong in the main story also,, lhh wonders if she'll be able to match yoo joonghyuk this time

there's the chapters, and the one we're reading right now i previously posted screenshots on this, but he uses the comment passes and gets very short comments. this pisses him off. with 2 passes left, a new option appears

pay coins to read top rated comments! coins really are everything the comment may be referring to hsy's plan for yjh? of course, lhh has no idea about that, and thinks that obviously nobody can deal with yjh he uses his final pass, and,

uh oh. but everything's going smoothly?

lee jihye is a main character, not an extra. she wouldn't die. neither would jung heewon. but what about cheon inho? lhh hands jhw to ljh, who takes it in confusion. and then lhh starts walking forward.

i don't know how i feel about him relying on his skill to tell if he'll live or die. i believe in him, but this also doesn't feel good but go hakhyun!! write something good! you wouldn't go too far, would you?

He was used to the darkness.

It was a small desk corner that comfortably supported his body. It was a closet that housed his clothes. It was the only place he could go where no one would be able to touch him. It was safe.

This darkness was not safe. It was all-encompassing. It was suffocating. It was lonely.

It was the only thing he knew how to do. The thumps that could be heard on the other side of the wall made him flinch. Maybe if he wished hard enough, he would be able to mistake the noise for his own pounding heartbeats.

“Dokja-yah. Just hide and stay quiet, okay?”

He was scared.

The boy slid down the wall and curled up with a whimper.

“I—” His voice cracked as he whispered to himself. “I am…”

…Yoo Joonghyuk.

No, that wasn’t right. He could never be Yoo Joonghyuk.

A gruff voice called out to him amidst the darkness. “Kim Dokja.”

The voice was one that commanded the attention of crowds. It was impossible for him not to know who it belonged to.

Kim Dokja’s eyes finally focused on the person in front of him. He sat up, stock-still, and hurriedly wiped the tears from his eyes. “Ahjussi.”

Yoo Joonghyuk’s brows furrowed. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing! I just…” The stilted words clogged his dry throat as he mumbled. “Had a nightmare.”

He was ashamed that Yoo Joonghyuk saw him like that.

Guilt bloomed in his chest as he stared at the real Yoo Joonghyuk who stood before him. The strongest person he knew. Someone who lived through 1,863 lifetimes and overcame every single obstacle he faced.

In contrast, Kim Dokja was a weak person who used Yoo Joonghyuk to protect himself from his own shortcomings. It was despicable.

A nightmare was a nightmare. He didn’t actually experience a real situation, but something his mind conjured up whilst sleeping.

Yet, it felt so real.

Kim Dokja stared down at his trembling, unblemished hands. He couldn’t remember the last time his pale skin was free of imperfections.

Yoo Joonghyuk cleared his throat lightly. The boy looked up at him, impossibly small for his age.

The tear streaks on his face were the only marks that outwardly showed the sorrow of a child so young.

Despite his anguish, his eyes glistened as though he was looking at a star. It was a gaze Yoo Joonghyuk had yet to get used to.

“Come with me.”

Kim Dokja’s hand hesitantly took his. As they made their way down the hall, he spoke quietly. “Ahjussi?”

“What is it?”

“How did you know I…”

His mouth closed shut as a faint smile spread on Yoo Joonghyuk’s face. “You are my sponsor, after all.”

Unlike his own, Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand was calloused and scarred. He clutched onto it like a lifeline; he didn’t think he could ever let go.

Right. The reality he lived in was different from his nightmares. The darkness didn’t feel as lonely as it did before.

They stopped in front of a door similar to the one that led to his bedroom. Kim Dokja watched curiously as he opened the door.

“You may sleep with me tonight,” Yoo Joonghyuk said cooly.

“Really?”

The young boy’s face twisted into something between shocked and hopeful. He pulled on the ends of his shirt.

For some reason, Yoo Joonghyuk was reminded of Yoo Mia.

His hand unwittingly ruffled Kim Dokja’s hair as an obscure emotion made itself known once more. “You won’t be alone anymore.”

It would take time for the boy to grow comfortable and realize that he wouldn’t be abandoned. In the meantime, Yoo Joonghyuk contented himself with the first bright smile Kim Dokja ever gave him.

How sad that the others missed it.

Least favorite trope:

Character has a meaningful and well thought-out, very emotional fight against a powerful enemy that helps fleshing them out, further their story and is generally a very satisfying fight that leaves them completely spent and unable to fight anymore.

After the main character arrives to witness the aftermath, said enemy recovers/transforms so that they're back in the ring and the main character can finish them off, effectively wasting everything the side character did until then. All for the sake of giving one more win to the main character.

I really like orv’s worldbuilding, specifically the concept of stories and probability

having more stories gives you more probability to work with…that makes sense, right; if you already have a history of accomplishments, accomplishing more sounds more probable

and another way that works, where higher-grade constellations interfering in the earlier scenarios too much causes a probability storm… because it doesn’t sound probable for someone so strong to care about what should be minor events to them, right?

this is just how I thought about it while reading… then you get to the oldest dream reveal. Probability is literally how probable kim dokja thinks it is for events to happen (and if You, the reader, are a fragment of kim dokja, then is my reasoning that probability in the story made sense probability itself…??)

and then when kim dokja loses his stories by using too much probability (as the new ‘oldest dream’) he gets younger and younger… because a person without their stories—their history—is just the person they were before gaining them: a child

I do read some krs!Cale-centric fanfiction but when it come to LCF 'canon'-verse, I avoided E-rated and shippy ones and I don't usually bookmarked them

It's hard to find one to my liking because most M-rated and T-rated ones still with ships and s3xual content while there are few with those rates because of the theme or gore or language but most are not, so...

I like the light read ones, but most of the times I just want to read the heavy ones that without ships but those are so rare...

How jdj is the side story. I know that LHH is the protag there and most focus is probably on him and his companions. But I just wanted ask for your opinion?

consulted my wife friend about this list so that i wouldn't miss the important moments. a little heads up this post will have side story spoilers

when hsy opens the door at the end of chapter 551, kimcom are sent to a snowfield with two doors in it. in one of them theres a happy ending. kdj woke up and is waving at them. in the 2nd door, kdj didn't wake up. yjh was the first one to enter the 2nd door, Unnoticed by anyone might i add. he's the one who opens the door and says "if it was him, i knew he'd pull something like this"

when we get 49 kdj's pov at the end of season 1 of the side story there's a small scene of yjh bringing 49 food. the scene is not described with full details however we learn that 49 has forgotten most things about yjh, to the point he doesn't even rmbr if yjh has cooked rice for him before. yjh then says this line to him "You don't need to be anything. All that matters is what you want to be" next morning 49 decides to go to the 1865th regression turn in order to help kimcom get back 51.

yjh comes back from a second journey of searching for kdj fragments together with biyoo. he notices that hsy has failed to stop the 41st round, and ignoring lsh's warnings that he's too strong to descend into the 41st worldline bcs the probability will kill him and destroy the worldline immediately once he descends. he says that hsy and ysa need to create conditions for him to descend because "Kim Dokja is mine to bring back" kr fans have noticed that this sentence has two major tones to it. 1, possessive and 2, arrogant. "kdj is mine to bring back since you (hsy) couldn't"

season 3 of the side story has a lot of focus on dkos kdj. he's now lhh's sponsor and talks to him thru midday tryst. and he brings up yjh So Often that even lhh is bored/baffled. not to mention he refers to yjh with a lot of affectionate terms "joonghyuk-ah this, joonghyukie that" recently even selena kim and christina page were all "????" when kdj called yjh "joonghyukie" in front of them

in the beginning of season 3, yjh noticed a source of light enter the "curtain of the 41st worldline" (listen mtl is hard please bear with me) and he immediately slams himself into it, trying to follow after the light. seeing as the curtain is burning him and "grilling him like fish" jaehwan (aka the mc of the world after the fall) has to forcefully pull him back as he shouts "are you crazy" at yjh. spoiler alert, yes he is crazy

not exactly an explicit moment per se, but every time lhh incites himself as kdj or yjh his first thought will always be of the other

in order to subdue an overpowered 41yjh hsy decides to give him happy memories. those memories included a scene where yjh was cooking for kimcom and hsy described it as "yoo joonghyuk was dying from happiness." then the scene quickly puts kdj in the center where he comments about how good yjh's food tastes and that next time they come here (a picnic) they should bring more beef. she succeeds in subduing 41 even though he has never actually met kdj before. later on we learn that 41 also got the memory of the rooftop conversation between kdj and yjh. and like. dare i say. he really sounded a little jealous/sulky abt it. not to call him sp or anything..............

there's a small flashback of a (not written in orv) scene set during 1865th turn. it's about lost memories. yjh tells hsy that he forgets lots of memories whenever he regresses but it's okay because even if he forgets that guy (kdj) will remember them for him.

recent addition: ORV: yjh: you bought a useless skill (preserve humidity) / lsh: but dokja-ssi also has this skill / yjh: kdj has this skill?? *contemplates buying it* |||| SIDE STORY: lhh: this guy (kdj) actually purchased a useless item? (neck pillow) / kdj: but yjh also has this neck pillow / lhh: yjh has this pillow? *after learning its advantages thinks it's a good item* (also kr fans speculate that it was kdj himself the one who bought a neck pillow for yjh)
