#it sounds very naive of me#but at this point i think the only other language i could become familiar with- NOT fluent- is japanese#cause i just engage with so much jpn media that there's a lot of routes i can take to keep my practice and application up#not to mention the genuine interest and utility as a huge motivation#only other language i got somewhere with was german but i didn't get that far at all cause there wasn't any immersion for me#other than watching the odd film or when i visited which just isn't enough#but even trying to learn stuff today again for japanese i've caught myself knowing verbs and recognising characters etc#i like the concept as well of the complete divorce from english#actually having to learn through associating concepts rather than leaning on translation as a crutch#that'd be a really wildly good skill#it's something i'd like to see if my brain could do tbh#again i just mean like. i'd be familiar with it#i could possibly get by when visiting#small talk stuff#maybe the odd kids game
