Okay, I am a new TOH fan, just marathon watched everything. I had the pleasure of pretty much knowing all the characters and plot points from mutuals posting about it LONG before I saw the show. But now that I've finished it, I have a question for a more seasoned fan---
Are we sure that Hunter is a grimwalker of Caleb? That seems to be the fandom consensus, but it's never actually said in the show. What if Hunter is a grinwalker of Caleb's SON?
*he is refered to as Belos' nephew. Sure, this can be explained other ways, but...
*In hollow mind, in the image of Caleb being lead away by the witch, the witch looks like she could be pregnant
*in the final fight of king's tide, Belos reveals his human face when approaching Hunter, and calls him Hunter. He says "I was only trying to help you" and only yells the name Caleb when he sees Flap.
*Hunter has witch ears, not human ears. If he was a grimwalker of a human, wouldn't he maybe have human ears? I don't know how grimwalkers work
What if after killing Caleb, Philip somehow got ahold of his son, the first Hunter? The kid would be half a witch, making him a lot more worthless/loathsome/disposable to Philip/Belos. What if he really is, and always has been, his nephew???
IDK. Am I a noob missing some key detail that confirms it as Caleb? Or is this a possibility?? TEACH ME 😆
Ok. So I spent several hours researching this lmao. I also got on a few rabbit trails so I will be taking several rabbit trails with this one.
SPOILERS AHEAD To start, let’s figure out what a Grimwalker is shall we?
I’ve searched high and low through the internet for myths and such, trying to find some kind of basis for this being but it seems to be consequently made up. Atleast In whole, but it seems to be derived of many different things. I searched up grim in mythology and found something called “Grim Church” also called the “black dog”. Which is funny to me considering Hunter’s new love of wolves. I think it’s a lot considering Belos uses these Grimwalkers to “pure” the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is also something called “Shadow Walkers” which was a book LITERALLY WRITTEN BY ONE OF THE GRIMM BROTHERS. The literal two who went about collecting stories from town to town. So I dug into that a little bit, unfortunately you have to pay for the book or something so I was not able to gather much, however. There is a game that features them, but I don’t want to go into that. Not really.
Also the American Indian term for “Shadow Walker” literally means “someone that walks in two worlds”
He was also made of something called “Ortet” which in botanist terms literally means, “THE ORIGINAL SINGLE PARENT PLANT FROM WHICH A CLONE IS ULTIMATELY DERIVED”. Which definitely confirms that is was made by asexual reproduction of sorts. We’ll get back to that.
Also, Selkie scales. My bet would be Philip used those, well anyone who was trying to make a Grimwalker, would use that to shape the creation into what it wanted, as Selkies have the power to shed their skin and transform into humans. That could also explain some of the sensitivity to Hunter’s hand of that indeed had anything to do with his outer appearance.
The palistrom had “keratin” listed next to it. That has to do with hair obviously. Which could explain why his grew so long? Maybe his use of magic, (like when Belos took over him) it grew out.
Then we have the stonesleeper lungs. I really couldn’t find much of anything on that aside of what the owl house gave us. They’re dinosaur like creatures in which they turn to stone when they sleep. They’re aggressive in nature but are pretty sturdy and tough creatures I suppose. Which would help in keeping the boy alive during that toughly enduring reading and missions.
Then we have the galderstone. The owl house explains it as an old relic that has the magical ability to boost one’s power. Also listed as “heart.
So onto the question at hand. Given the information of these two, I think it’s safe to say it could go either way. Giving the information I’m about to give you, I can tell you why that probably not the case.
Your first fact and second fact. While this could be soooo true, I don’t think Belos was able to get his hands on that baby. When he murders his brother, they’re alone, and there’s fire around them. The next memory, it’s just her, a clearer pic and she is noticeably less round. So there IS a chance he did in fact come for his nephew. That was his family. Forget the witch, his brother is gone but his legacy will continue sort of thing. Oh I know. I’ll make my own nephew.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your third fact. I can also see this. But it’s as I said, considering the long line of clawthornes we have now, and they are no doubt the descendants of the two. That baby survived. But since this, I’m even more convinced now that Belos generally beloved this to be his nephew. I’m a sick sort of way ofc. Maybe his, “I was only trying to help you” came from the place of, oh I delivered you from your witch mother and betraying father. After all he says “wild magic” did this to OUR FAMILY. He’s referring to both of them.
Your last point, I think, since Belos found a way to shift his own ears, he could have easily used the selkie scales or whatever else to form this little half witch the way he wanted. While “ortet” really stands out to me, the fact that Hunter is considered half a which when he’s literally made of magic kind of adds to this even more. His genetics were made by Caleb I believe. But the magic in him, that he was made of, makes him “half a witch”. He might not be one genetically, shoot he’s not even human. He’s straight up made of magic and other stuff.
So nah, I don’t think he’s made of Caleb’s son. I think he was made in place of him. Philip couldn’t convince his brother, so why control his nephews life? They’re family after all.

despite Jasper telling Raine not to call him for CATTs business after the finale, I feel like Raine would, indeed, end up calling him. a lot. because, like. there's an entire oppressive government to mop up, and as former Golden Guards both Jasper and Hunter would be a wealth of information.
it's a 50-50 chance whether Jasper will just hang up or whether he'll demand some ridiculous price for his help, but Raine has a dangerous castle full of an evil emperor's secrets to clean up, and the former Golden Guards are RIGHT THERE.
so like…
~
"Whispers, I told you not to call me."
"I know, don't worry, I'll be quick. Is there a backup key to the treasury?"
"I'm sorry, what?"
"We can't find the treasury secretary and the key is gone and we KIND OF need the relief funds - "
"Ohoho you guys are screwed, if you try going in there without the key you're gonna get vaporized by the security system."
"I AM AWARE. Do you know of some other way to get in?"
"Mmm theoretically."
"…What's it gonna cost to get you to help?"
"I've been considering getting my own wifi plan. Could you get the fees waived for, like, forever?"
~
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TO GET UPPER-LEVEL ACCESS TO THE CASTLE'S CRYSTAL BALL NETWORK?"
"Hello to you too, Whispers."
"YES, HI, WE'RE KIND OF ON A TIME LIMIT HERE, NO TIME TO EXPLAIN BUT LILITH'S ACCESS WAS REVOKED SO - "
"Pfft wait, they actually locked her out? Oh, wait, she was alive when she defected, that makes sense…"
"JASPER PLEASE I KNOW THIS IS A LONGSHOT BUT IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS - "
"Here I'll just text you my username and password."
"…WHAT???"
"Yeah they never changed it, pretty stupid of them. There you go, sent, feel free to use it as much as you like, it's not like I need it anymore. Also stop calling me."
~
"Listen I know you said you don't care to participate in government BUT I'm just putting out feelers so I wanted to know if you had any ideas on how to de-militarize the Emperor's Coven?"
"What makes you think I understand the first thing about political theory?"
"You were the Emperor's RIGHT HAND MAN."
"Haha yeah, doesn't mean I understood anything."
~
"Did Belos actually acquire the XYZ artifact?"
"Oh, yeah, I got that for him like 20 years ago."
"Great! Do you know where he stored it?"
"Not a clue."
~
"Whispers I am marathoning Cosmic Frontier with my kid, this had better be important."
"Sorry, just - quick question, we're trying to clear Belos's wing of the castle and we need to know, how many secret passages are there in this hallway?"
"Well in the hallway there's five, but there's another two in his chambers and one in his study."
"For the love of - "
"Hm? One sec. …Okay, Hunter says there's actually three in the study and seven in the hallway - wait, but Hunter, you never knew about the grimwalker lab? Huh. Okay so between me and Hunter there are eight in the hallway. That we know of."
"Great. Fantastic."
"Also watch out for the booby traps. And now that I think about it, one of the passages in the bedchamber is probably keyed so that only a human can enter, so you might want to recruit Luz for that."
"Is there anything I can do to get you to come help us clear this place?"
"Absolutely not. Wait, let me check - hey, Hunter, want to go back to the site of our torment to help Whispers and Mason do their jobs? Yeah, didn't think so."
"Alright, alright, sorry for asking."
"Oh, but I do claim anything you find pertaining to grimwalkers as, like, reparations or whatever. At the very least there should be a shelf full of journals in the lab. You can give what's left of Caleb back to the Clawthornes, though, he's their graverobbed great-great-whatever-granddad."
"Oh dear titan."
"Going back to our marathon now, if you have an emergency in the next thirteen hours I am NOT answering my scroll. Byyyyyyye."
SO fucking funny. "here's my password have fun kids" and that's how Raine finds out how jasper has known everything always all the time jehshdhdja. THAT SON OF A-
Don't forget jasper loves being bribed. When hunter is busy or at school jasper can be convinced to do stuff. Mostly with food. Food is a great motivator the man is hungry.
Raine: hey... Can you come and break down the wards in Belos's chambers?
Jasper: no
Raine: you want a house
Jasper: what
Raine: a house. White picket fence. Bay windows. Kitchen nook. You want one
Jasper: wh
Raine: mason will make you a house if you will come deactivate these wards
Jasper: why would I need a house. I have a house.
Raine: you live in a cave.
Jasper: I like my cave.
Raine: I bet hunter would like a house.
Jasper: I'll be right there

Hey so like, I'm looking at your post about still believing in Luz and Hunter as siblings. I'm on board for that too obviously, and am thinking of the part where he's in The Collector's palace and feeling like no one is waiting for him. I guess I'm trying to rationalize somehow...why he wasn't thinking of her words "You're family now" right after he sent Willow off to her parents. I get why the writers wanted to include Luz's narration of "And if someone thought they had no one waiting for them, well, they were in for a nice surprise", yet I'm sort of telling myself that perhaps Hunter didn't want to burden Luz and Camila at that time or something. If he's Luz's sibling he could just walk to Eda's house and join them there after making sure Gus and Willow are reunited with their family. Maybe that's what he, Darius and Eberwolf did offscreen after they reunited. Hm..
Honestly, I almost don't get the point of them including the "You're family now" line in TTT if they weren't going to follow it up with something a little more solid. Then again, one of my major gripes with the last three episodes in general are them constantly bringing up plot points that don't ever get any real follow-up("You're family now"; Hunter's flashstep powers(why did he even get them if they weren't going to be used in the finale in a major way? Seems like an odd writing choice so late in the game. And I am a FAN of him still having the flashstep, but I'm still pointing this out as a weird choice); Hunter not getting time to grieve at ALL; no Wittebro/Evelyn lore(I think TTT should have done a proper delve into their past. I don't necessarily think it's a good choice to leave it unexplored, but I'm kinda torn); Hunter's fear over the others finding out he was a Grimwalker getting glossed over with two lines when it was SUCH a Big Deal to him and he needed a proper conversation about it - that one's a BIG beef; probably several more I'm forgetting).
And like, back on Hunter and Luz Siblings, as I've said, it doesn't have to be straight up adoption papers or anything, it's found family, it doesn't have to be traditional anything. I just think it's so weird to have this really significant moment where Luz calls him that and he literally bursts into tears over it because he has no one at that point, but then there's not like, any other pay off or mention of it? (Camila also called him 'baby'.)
Imagine if Hunter had been looking sad after Willow ran to her dads, then Camila(and Luz maybe, even though she was still with Eda at the time), came up and smiled at him and hugged him? Really cementing that found family thing that was brought up with them. (And just to be clear, none of this means I would have wanted Hunter to live in the Human Realm, I was never a fan of that idea. I just want him to be Luz's sibling and visit the Human Realm often because he has a PLACE there that will always be there for him when he needs it.)
I pretty much figured they'd go for Dadrius, and I'm not like... livid about it or anything. I just think if they really wanted to go that route then they should have built it up more, and I personally would have also needed an apology from Darius to Hunter about how he treated him in ASIAS was wrong and how he's going to be better from there on out, etc, before I feel like that scenario would have any actual meaning or pay-off. (I am not bashing Darius, I like Darius, but he treated Hunter like shit in ASIAS.)
All this being said, I don't think the ending negates Hunter being Luz's sibling, even if Darius straight adopted him(I don't think he did), it doesn't mean he's lost his place with other important guardian/parental/mentor figures in his life. I think that's the most beautiful thing about found family. I think most of my salt just comes from them not really following a thread that was seemingly started in TTT and seemed like an awfully Big Damn Deal to the boy, considering how hard he cried.
I'm being salty and I have my critiques, but don't mistake this for me hating on the show or anything. I still really enjoyed the finale, but as a fan I have issues and things I didn't like.

[Gilded Family] So, question.
Did the Clawthornes even exist prior to Achsah getting trapped in the past? Or did Caleb and Evelyn only start hearing of them after they lost her?
Okay, so, we don't really have enough information on the time travel in owl house to really answer this super well, but from what I can tell, the time travel in owl house seems to operate on a closed loop, meaning you can't really change things in the past and see an effect in the future. Everything is not exactly destined to happen because that would be against the themes of the show, but Phillip knew the light glyph and had the Collector's disc before Luz traveled back in time, you know? Because it "already happened." In fact, he goes through some lengths involving Flora in order to make sure Luz goes back in time and cause it all.
That being said, Gilded works on a sort of self-correcting loop. Caleb explained it in the first chapter, if you cause a disturbance in time, it'll quickly right itself. He can rescue a grimwalker because even if he rescues a grimwalker, Belos will still make a new grimwalker to replace them, so while there would be a little blip where Caleb jumped back in time and snatched that grimwalker (like Belos never finding bones and assuming grims disintegrate hours after dying), it doesn't overall affect anything.
Achsah: Similar to how Belos presumably had the disk in season 1 "before" Luz time traveled, the Clawthorne line existed "before" Achsah fell in the pool. Now, if she HADN'T fallen in the pool, then that'd be a whole different time stream and they wouldn't exist (just like how gilded itself is existing in an alternate universe where Caleb survived, there are hypothetically other universes in which much of gilded is the same, but there's no Clawthornes). But in THIS time stream/loop, she did, so they exist.
It's. Ya know. It's time travel. Don't think about it too hard. It's not supposed to make sense.

If Philip couldn't bare to have his brother find love and a life elsewhere without him being part of it, then could it be possible that how he treats the Grimwalkers (although definitely changed over the years) was how he always wanted to treat his brother?
(The only reason why Philip wasn't able to treat his brother that way (or at least not as intensely) was because he was older. So the Grimwalkers could possibly also have an aspect of wish fulfillment for Philip because now he can have his brother and not have to share, and if he leaves? He can just get another one)
seesawing hand motion
i think the answer is yes and no here.
i do think that like... i think Philip's feelings towards Caleb were, to say the very absolute least, incredibly unhealthy, possessive, and controlling. to what degree their actual relationship allowed him to express that is a matter of speculation at this point. (i would argue that "trying to murder your wife and then you" does not spring fully formed out of nowhere, so, it was probably fucked up in other ways before that.)
(my personal headcanon is that the two of them were in fact embroiled in a deeply toxic codependent incestuous clusterfuck for most of their lives, a dynamic they both played into in various ways, and that Philip very much did deploy the same suite of emotional manipulation against Caleb that we see him doing later on in the show.
for a significant period in their lives, they genuinely were each other's only source of comfort, kindness, care, or safety; they understood and knew each other on a level no one else did or could, and they had only each other to rely on. this suited Philip perfectly well, because he had Caleb all to himself, and it made it very easy to do that sort of "you can't leave me, i need you" kind of thing he likes to do.
of course, then when they ended up in the Boiling Isles, it was very culturally different, and Caleb embraced that and started meeting people who actually were safe to get to know, who did understand and accept both of them, and Philip could not fucking stand that, because suddenly he wasn't the single most important person in Caleb's life and none of his manipulation about how he needs Caleb more than anybody or how no one else will ever understand or love Caleb the way he does worked anymore, and he flipped.)
but yeah like the dynamic between them is interesting to consider, especially with Caleb being older. that could have protected Caleb to some degree - it meant Caleb was less helpless than a dependent child who Philip was a parent/guardian to, for sure, and meant that until they were both adults, Caleb had a physical advantage over Philip, but it also offers Philip a very handy avenue of control that i mentioned up there - you can't leave me, i need you, you have to take care of me.
being older or bigger and stronger doesn't necessarily make a person immune to abuse or manipulation, after all!
i do think that like... he's really a very childish person, he's an interesting foil to Luz in that way, where he's essentially just been recreating his childhood game of make-believe on a grand scale for hundreds of years, making brother-things to play with him, etc - he tells Luz that her sense of reality has been warped by the Boiling Isles, but he's the one who refuses to see what's actually going on in front of him.
so that comes out with Caleb. he remembers his playmate, his protector, his caretaker - Caleb seems to be significantly older and have spent a lot of time with him, and we don't see anything of their parents, and the fact that we see him put Hunter into a caretaking role suggests to me that's how he saw Caleb.
and yeah like you said, he doesn't want to share. he wants Caleb to just be his and focus on him and love him and agree with him, forever. he wants to be the most important person in Caleb's life. not being the most important person in Caleb's life feels like a deep personal betrayal.
so there's, yeah, that core foundational sense of Caleb belonging to him. and i think that very much is the same with the grimwalkers. moreso, even - he made them. they only exist because of him and therefore they only exist for him. even more than Caleb, i think he sees the grimwalkers as just toys. they are literal objects for his entertainment and consumption.
i do think that the grimwalkers were significantly more dehumanized in his eyes than Caleb, because, well, they weren't human. they were just crude facsimiles of a human. and Philip played along with his own fantasy of them as replacements for Caleb, yes, but they were ultimately still just things he made out of corpse parts and demonic ingredients, things born from the very materials of this infernal realm he's found himself in, things that bore Caleb's face but also were fundamentally wicked.
his treatment also stemmed from his anger at Caleb, but i don't think that saying "he was angry at Caleb's perceived betrayal and also processing his own grief and guilt by displacing it all onto Caleb and making it Caleb's fault" is quite the same as saying "he ALWAYS wanted to treat Caleb this way"
and then of course the fact that their dynamic was incredibly different, that rather than them being his guardian and caretaker, he was their guardian and caretaker, really changed it too. it meant that he had power, and he could do whatever he wanted.
so i think his treatment of the grimwalkers came from, ultimately, a very similar place. they were stand-ins for Caleb in a variety of ways. if his and Caleb's positions had been reversed and he'd been the older one and in a position of responsibility over Caleb, he might well have treated them very similarly. but i do also think that a lot of things were different enough that we can't necessarily say "this is how he always WANTED to treat Caleb but couldn't," but more like, "the way he treats the grimwalkers is a pretty natural and logical extension of his manipulative and possessive behaviors towards people he wants or needs something from when enacted on someone who he has complete and total control over and access to"

i think my favorite thing about luz as a protagonist is that her being nosy and curious means that, by way of being herself, she actively avoids the pitfall of "reveals happen after a frustrating amount of time because characters don't ask questions, ever, not even ones normal polite humans would ask god forbid rude ones, and don't think about things, ever".
if luz doesn't know about something it's never negligence on her part. either she was literally not physically present, was present but circumstances mean she'd naturally miss such-and-such, can't even remotely reasonably be expected to use X information to come to Y conclusion, or said information is just of a personal nature and anyone would have to just kinda wait to be told it.
lesser protagonists would've heard belos be vague about grimwalkers and just immediately let that phrase go in one ear and out the other, not even wondering for a second "what the fuck is that and what is belos's damage" but not luz. didn't learn too much from just that but she at least learned more than someone who wouldn't bother.
similarly i also like that hunter being a nerd means that his first impulse in any situation is also 'find all the relevant books and read them'. might not learn anything specifically helpful in those books but at least he's not running around blind 24/7.

So- ya'll have any theories on what a grimwalker is? Saw it with all of Belos' stuff right at the beginning of ep8. At first I thought it was just general witch business, but the baby on the left page really threw me off here.
As far as I know it's not a mythology thing but I kind of have a crazy theory- what if Hunter's a grimwalker? The theory mostly came to me bc of the eyes. I don't remember anyone in the show having eyes like that except him.
Tumblr media
He's VERY similar to the drawing, even down to the nose shape.
Tumblr media
Now let's say Hunter even is a grimwalker, what could that be? I didn't find anything on it but if we just go by context, "grim" is usually related to death or grief of some sort, and walker is pretty self explanatory. So if we put that together... a death walker or someone that walks with death I think would be a pretty good interpretation. And the more I analyzed the picture, the more it made sense. And this is nuts ya'll.
Tumblr media
For starters, the very interesting list of ingredients on the right page. To me it very obviously resembles a spell "recipe". And TELL ME Belos wasn't trying to build a person- (you can't)
First of all: Galderstone, which we've seen before in the library episode. And then right under it in parenthesis: "heart and power". Now let's say this was the recipe to "make" Hunter, it even has the simplistic grey stone drawing to represent the galder stone, which will become important later, so pay attention to that.
The other ingredients are Palistrom Wood for "keratin" (which has a log drawing representation you should also pay attention to) and Stonesleeper lungs (I'm guessing that's for the lungs lol). Then Selkidomus scales and bone of ORTET.
The last two I can't really interpret, but I have a theory on Ortet for later. For now, keep the recipe in mind.
Tumblr media
Now the other page to me are the instructions to the spell. First, what looks like soil (I'm guessing it's a grave), and a substance being spilled over it - the concoction we have the recipe for - and then right besides it, we can see all the ingredients in drawing form, making up a circle (see why I said to pay attention to those?). Then there are some scribbles and the next image is a fetus and arrows pointing from it show the growth into an adult.
This leads me to think that the spell is to put these ingredients all over soil (or a grave if I'm right) and from it a baby is born and this is the Grimwalker.
Keeping in line with Hunter being this Grimwalker and the result of Belos performing this spell, I have two theories:
The first one is the happiest out of the two, which is that Hunter might be someone Belos lost in the past who he brought back or a reiteration of a family member. I'm guessing Belos has been alive a long time, and he probably lost many people. It'd make sense for him to bring back a family member.
Now the other theory is the real kicker, and I also think it's the most plausible if I'm actually right: Belos made Hunter so he could take over his body.
Tumblr media
This theory came almost exclusively from this tiny check mark right over the kid version of the Grimwalker, but once I thought about it, it just made so much sense.
Obviously, with the day of Unity approaching and Belos being incredibly ill, he definitely needed a replacement. It would explain what he said to Hunter about how he "has a great place in the Titan's eyes" and how he is "difficult to replace". The page leads me to believe the right moment where Belos can take over his body is while he is still a kid and he could definitely be grooming Hunter into being complacent when the time comes.
Maybe the Ortet they reference in the book could even be a titan or The titan himself, and Hunter has dormant titan abilities just like King - which would also be another reason why Belos would take his body.
I have no idea if any of this is true but it's 5 A.M and I haven't stopped thinking about this since the episode aired.

pls kisaki would go on his rant about how much of a simp his daughter’s spouse is and i’d be like “sit down” and he would almost subconsciously 💀 i love the funky smitten man omfg but god he is so hard to properly write for me its frustrating;;; he definitely insists to keep giving kiddo piggy back rides even if she is too big and he is too old… god thing we got all that money bc dumbass gets back problems from it.
can u imagine grandpa kisaki tho?? if u thought dad kisaki was bad w spoiling oh boy u havent met grandpa kisaki yet XD his wedding gift was prob some island too
oh but don’t give me ideas. soulmates with hunter but both of you keep getting reincarnated, one way or another. souls interwoven, dying at belos hands every time together, a history repeating itself again and again, waiting to finally be broken by hunter and the current incarnation of soulmate. they always meet the same in the general sense; tho the details are different.
two beings on opposite sides; starting as a witch and a human, now a wild witch and and the emperor’s guard. the slow burn, the hurt comfort, the inexplainable pull towards each other; a destiny needing to be fulfilled: to be together at last, something belos refuses to let happen ever again.
god what id give for hunter’s super awkward flirting;;; pls darius would help fix him up for a proper date but poor baby is just an anxious little mess and its so endearing.
being there when his world shatters for him, an odd sense if deja vu in the back of your mind while you hold him to calm him down, you; the only constant in his life, always has been, not even just in this one.
safe to say i am soft ugh. but yeah the collector is sooo interesting. so many fan theories. and yeah i was squinting at my screen pausing the episode just to look at every frame ahsjsj i hate disney for not giving us a third season. fuck em. also collector is such a funky little guy. dana said his pronouns were he/they and i honestly think it should’ve just been bastard/gremlin.
-🌌momo
the way Kisaki is trained like a dog 💀 Everyone knows it. You know it. Hanma knows it. All of Toman knows it. The only one who doesn't know he's a simp is Kisaki himself. All you do is give him a look and man is sitting himself down stopping his stewing. Another look and he's snagging your drink without even a word. Mind you running his mouth the entire time about people who are too desperate in love like he isn't the pinnacle of pathetic simp 😭😂
god the utter menace that man is to his grandkid(s) like he's buying them cars for the fifteenth birthday. Cars that match their favorite toy cars they liked when they were little. Oh my god he's constantly has sweets on him or buys them whatever the hell they want. He's a nightmare to anyone who's actually a parent but the grandkids love him ☠☠☠
pls red string of fate, hanahaki disease, tattoos on parts of the body part, inability to see color before meeting your soul mate asdfghjkl just the endless list of heart wrenching perfectness that could go with the Hunter/Grimwalker thing. God and not to mention the repeated gory scenes that could be written with each killing of the imperfect guard and his lover every time asdfghjkl
no matter what molding Belos does to this image of his brother, taking away any form of memories, filling his mind with ideas that don't make him question anything, all that work for nothing bc even at his hands death can't seem to fix the one problem always has. The reincarnation of a god awful thing that keeps distracting his brother. Dead a hundred times by his hand yet Belos is readying to repeat the process every time his precious golden guard brings up the dredges of a useless crush. Until Hunter that is. Keeps him so under lock and key certain that's the only way to keep the reader away. If he simply never meets you, then this could be the perfect model he's been striving to make.
just like all the attempts before though fate twists in ways even Belos can't predict or work with. You both meet. Without realizing it. Setting forth the same chain of events that has followed a hundred deaths beforehand. Even as awkward as he is and sheltered the soul wants what the soul wants. Bad pointers from Darius or Raine aside Hunter still finds himself feeling weird around someone he still regards as a stranger. No explanation until it draws both together again.
oh and the big reveal about the other golden guards. Oh does that sped up all the past interactions to come crashing down on you both in one night. Hunter bolting with nowhere to go but to you. Magicless sacrifice in the arms of a wild witch. Cracked Golden Guard mask tossed aside when he can't even form the words to tell you what happened. Maybe at some point he'll be able to tell you. Only seeking comfort in your touch though holding him close like it's all happened before. Hairs on the back of your neck crawling like there's an imamate danger but it's just the two of you, no one else knows you're here. Unsure of why you're minds telling you something bad is going to happen. Pushing it aside to comfort him and ignoring your mind screaming at you that this is a bad idea in favor of being close to the closest thing to home you've ever felt when you're wrapped around Hunter like this.

Any Sport In A Storm Reaction
Every week brings us closer to the end of the Owl House, but it also brings a new TOH episode, which is a fair trade imo. Here is my second Owl House reaction!
Pre-episode thoughts Judging from all the promos I have seen, I was going to guess that Hunter and Willow are going to be the A-plot, while Luz and Amity try to start an Azura Book Club as the B plot... but I accidentally spoiled myself, so I know that's what's going to happen. However, I'm unclear what Eda and King will be doing, so I'm interested in that. Episode thoughts Oh, Hunter! Why is your cloak so damaged?
There was a previous golden guard?! Was he a grimwalker too? Or was he's Belos' brother? I mean, nephew implies a sibling...
I guess we know what's Hunter's mission now.
Wow, they shorten the theme song. They are really going all-in on packing as much stuff in an episode as possible.
A Willow introductory montage! It's like those reality tv character intros. She's really getting into this sports thing.
Gus and Luz throwing confetti in the background together were cute, they both have such a love of showmanship.
Hey, we finally get to see all five Azura books' covers. Boscha is here to make fun of the books, while Luz tries to defend them.
Amity is here to announce... the author of the Azura books is having a signing?! But I thought they were human?
Luz said hermosa, that's too cute!
Luz got the same reaction as I do! Turns out that witches and humans were getting different books. Amity and Luz are going to get to the bottom of this. Meanwhile, Boscha is jealous of being ignored.
But wait, I remember that library scene from "Through the Looking Glass Ruins" revealed that the Azura books were found washed up on the beach. I am betting that the Azura books were written by a human, and a witch is just taking the credit here.
Hunter tries and fails to recruit some teenagers. Hunter my boy, I don't think that teenagers will be receptive to respecting authority.
Looks like Dana is making good on her promise to show more of the dual-track students.
Wow, a guy straight up said to Hunter's face that he wants to bring the coven system down when he grows up.
Huh, some jerk professor doesn't want Willow to lead anything. So we got our conflict now.
Willow wants to get Hunter to join. I mean, he may be good, but he's only going to be here for a short time.
Hunter joins under the impression that Willow will find good Emperor's Coven recruits. Considering the state of the current members, I don't think Hunter should bother with "good".
Meanwhile, Amity and Luz come up with some theories about who the author is (It's like Gravity Falls!), only to find that the signing was canceled.
"Don't let the power get to your head" you know, that reminds me, but I found it interesting how Willow suddenly became very popular since she grew more magically powerful, and I always wanted to see a fanfic that explored that aspect of her.
Hunter is not impressed with the players Willow found, but she manages to convince him to give them a chance.
Hey, it's that scene from the promo with Luz laying her head on Amity's shoulders. Man, it's not nearly as angsty as we feared.
And now a suspicious person, go after them!
Hunter tells Darius about all his new friends/recruits while Darius regrets his life choices.
The professor somehow got some teammates, including one of the dual-trackers. Viney, of course, does not accept this betrayal.
After an exciting game, Willow's team won! And decided to call themselves "The Emerald Entrails". Typical Boiling Isles and their obsession with body parts...
The team gets a touching bonding moment with Hunter, who immediately ruins it by revealing that he is the golden Guard. It seems that Amity and Luz mention him to Willow? Thought it was funny that Hunter said "oh my name ain't Caleb, it's Hunter!" like anybody knows who the hell is Hunter.
Before they can patch things over, a bunch of Coven scouts appeared to take the Entrails away. Hunter is not really selling the whole "join the Emperor's Coven" thing. Thought I can see why Amity might had find being separated from her family appealing.
Ice pack for Steve! Man, this is really the episode for fan favorites. I don't mind, Steve is great in this scene.
Hunter tries to salvage his relationships, but the Entails are justifiably not receptive, being in jail and all.
Steve of all people made Hunter realize that he made a terrible mistake. I guess Steve's friendship with the inhabitants of the Owl House is rubbing off on him, huh?
Amity and Luz chase after the suspicious person to find... Tiny Nose! She is the one behind the witch editions of the Azura books?
Her name is Tinella Nosa?! Luz is again having the same reaction as I am.
Nosa leads the two to the real mastermind, Tibbles.
Jesus Christ Matt, you end up in some of the strangest places. First those Gladus kids, now Tibbles?
Tibbles then explains... exactly what I expected. Tho it turns out Amity was the only person who ever bought these books. That's strange.
Darius scrolls thru social media. Turns out Alador is bitter about being called a hack.
He also effortlessly stops the kids' attempts to escape.
But here's Hunter! The kids take advantage of the distraction to bring down the ship to escape.
But Darius was still able to stop them. Man, the creators were much better at preserving the threat level of the Coven heads than they were with the Emperor's Coven. I don't think they lost once so far. I like it!
Hunter saves the day! After claiming that the Entrails are unfit to be scouts and saying that he is unfit to be the Golden Guard, Darious just... lets them go.
Willow seems to appreciate Hunter calling her "captain", at least enough to tease him as they leave Hunter and Darius.
Interestingly, it turns out Darius is impressed that Hunter made some friends and was willing to protect them from him. I guess he prefers Hunter to be a little rebellious. To that end, he gave Hunter a scroll to contact his new friends and a promise not to tell Belos anything about this or his secret palismen.
Multiple predecessors? Was Belos just making grimwalkers over and over again? But they don't sound like clones of each other, so maybe the older Golden Guards are unrelated to Hunter.
"don't need to be a powerful witch to make something special" oh god, is this foreshadowing? But yeah, what Luz and Amity took from this adventure is that writing and making up theories are fun, even when they turned out to be false.
And now they bump into the Entrails. Apparently, Hunter is a slow typer.
Luz praises their outfit, while Amity is wearing some goofy expression.
Final shot: Luz and Amity, shocked that Hunter was on the team.
Eda and King are literally not in the episode. Huh. Reaction to other reactions 14,000 recent posts, with "the owl house" being the number 1 trending tag. And "owl house" is also the 6th trending tag? That's impressive.
Willow's dads were former flying derby players, that's so sweet!
That golden guard sigil can also be found in Gravesfield, more evidence for the Philp/Belos connection?
Some criticism of this episode. I do have to agree that the "Tibbles is behind the Witch's version of the Azura books" thing didn't really make any sense. Like, why did Nosa bring Luz and Amity to Tibbles in the first place? And what was Tibbles doing in that cave? At least the Lumity moments were cute, and it did bring them out of the way of the A-plot, but I don't know. I feel like something like a Lumity date could do the same thing with less cruft.
Oh, and a lot of people are shipping Hunter/Willow now. And a lot of other people dislike the ship. That's just fandom, kids. Best learn to use the block button. At least Willow and Hunter met in canon. And now they are even friends!
Also, someone pointed out that it's funny that Willow became friends with Hunter before Luz did, and it's true that is funny.
I like that theory that Belos is the grimwalker, and Hunter is just a more conventional descendant of the Whittenbanes. That will be a fun twist. Prediction for future episodes The plot of the next episode sounds pretty bizarre, ngl. Either Alador turns out to not be that bad, and he and Amity will strengthen their relationship, or he will turn out to be that bad, and Amity learns there was no point in proving herself to her parents. The former seems unlikely (what kind of father wants his kids to win a competition to win his respect?), but the latter is kind of depressing.
Actually, now that I think about it, Luz is probably the one that instigated it, after hearing Amity complains about her dad or something, as another attempt to work thru her emotions about her mother. In which case it will be Luz who will learn a lesson about something, not Amity. And Luz's mommy issues tie nicely with Eda giving her old jacket to Luz, or even Luz taking the jacket without permission.

I have a question if the belos slime retains his memories (Phoenix has some of Belos’s memories from the slime) would a reanimated “abomination” made of the stuff believe itself to be belos?
I think that sort of depends on the answer to how sentient an abomination made of it would be anyway? Like, abominations don't seem to have much will or personality of their own (with a notable exception being when Eda's abominations gained sentience and turned on her back in her Hexside days), they're just sort of. Moving goop that follows directions. So idk if an abomination made of Belos slime would have enough consciousness to believe ANYTHING about itself, ya know?
That being said, assuming the abomination gained sentience a la however Eda's abominations did, I think it would, at the very least, behave in a similar manner. Phoenix has his own personality to combat the belief that he "is" Belos, which the abomination doesn't have, so it would make sense for it to believe it's Belos. It would probably also depend on the degree of sentience the abomination gained. I think at worse, it would probably gravitate towards any grimwalkers it saw, or maybe try to get its hand on palisman.

Adriane said he wanted to find the Looking Glass Graveyard to give the galderstones to Belos. Belos needs galderstones for grimwalkers. I feel like this is significant somehow.
The funniest thing is, Belos presumably only needs one more Galderstone. It's so ironic because Adrian thinks life is just going to continue on as normal, but it's not! He thinks that galderstones will continue to be good presents for the emperor, that he will keep being the illusion head, that life will be just somehow better, but otherwise not change that much. But it WON'T! Belos won't NEED any more galderstones! His entire coven is probably going to die, and maybe him as well! Magic as he knows it is going to change, heck, the very isles he knows might GET UP AND WALK! He said something SO revealing about what the average coven head knows and thinks about the DoU without realizing it, they really ARE just Belos' pawns! They think they're so smart and so important, but they really don't know ANYTHING!
