silk; what outfit makes you feel confident?

a tough question lately! I've been super dysphoric these past few weeks so really nothing but Hiding in Huge Blanket has worked; however typically I feel most confident in tactical/practical clothes. I love a fun outfit but I don't think confidence is what they bring to the table. when carrying a hammer, two rolls of bags, a sandwich, a journal, a spare hat, three rings of keys, gloves and handwarmers, and a gait belt in my pockets won't cut it it's time to fake it until I make it. behold!

I'd really like to go to Argentina one day, but honestly I'm super excited about the trip I'm taking with my family soon. you'll have to find out where that is after it stops being a beacon to my location! I'm stoked :D

Falloutober 2022 Prompt 1: World On Fire

The Ink Spots played on the radio. Nora sat in a corner of Home Plate, staring out the window, looking for Bobbi No-Nose.

“I think every area in the country must still play this song,” Deacon said from where he sat on the couch.

Without looking away from the window, Nora said, “I know you grew up in the Capital Wasteland. Where else have you been?”

Deacon shrugged and Nora glanced at him. His face betrayed nothing. “New York. Charleston. I’ve got a few friends out west, too. They tell me the same.” He turned to watch her continue staring out the window. “Have you been outside the Boston area? Before, I mean.”

Nora shook her head. “I was so focused on school, and then the wedding, and then Shaun came along and Nate was at war. I never got a chance.”

“Would you go out there, now that there’s nothing holding you back?”

Nora remained quiet and Deacon thought he might have overstepped his boundaries. He opened his mouth to change the subject when she spoke again.

“Maybe. I did always want to see the Grand Canyon.”

Deacon grinned. “I’ve heard the Canyon’s the same as ever. Vegas is still lit up though.”

This piqued Nora’s interest enough for her to look at him. “How? Everything’s gone.”

“I heard Robert House figured out a way to live forever.”

Nora snorted and looked back out the window. “I’d believe it. And I’m sure Vegas is still raking in the money.”

“Yeah.”

They both fell quiet again until Nora stood.

“There she is.” She turned to look at Deacon. “See you later?”

Deacon nodded. “Sure.”

Nora ran out the door, leaving Deacon alone in Home Plate. The Ink Spots wound down and Travis came on over the radio. Ad break.

Deacon spoke aloud to the empty room, even if only to get the thought out of his head. “Once all this is over, I’ll show you the Canyon.”

He stood and walked to the window Nora had been looking out of. He didn’t see anyone of note, especially not Nora. He left Home Plate though the trapdoor on top and snuck his way out of the city.

that article going around abt firefox's new ad program is annoying bc it's phrased as though "mozilla has finally TURNED on its people and is SELLING YOU OUT for cold hard cash!!" when. that's not what's happening. it is specifically being implemented to discourage tracking behavior, and literally all the data they are giving to advertisers is aggregate and anonymized, which is like, the opposite of what that post wants you to worry about, lol

i feel like people are skimming over the uk riots in a way that makes me want to tear my hair out. muslims in the uk are in active danger. immigrants in the uk are in active danger. refugees in the uk are in active danger. people of colour in the uk are in active danger. asian communities in the uk are in active danger. black communities in the uk are in active danger.

there are massive far right riots throughout the country right now and people like fucking elon musk and nigel farage are inciting it and still have a platform to speak. people have used three young girls deaths, people's genuine grief in southport, to try and gain traction for their own racist bullshit and it's working.

a lot of refugee charities have been forced to close leaving many people without support, homes, funding, food, etc. if you aren't able to donate please consider sending a message via the conversation over borders campaign! it will send a hopeful, welcoming letter to a refugee in the uk. there is also a guide to staying safe here.
