I’d disagree with the anon that Paul was “incapable” of love, but I do agree he was very distanced, and pretty cruel (to women) when he was younger. (It was unfortunate they bought into the love at first sight myth, but he was also a charmer, and dropped affection and got colder after fucking them.)

But I just can’t see romantic interest on Paul’s end. I’m sure he loved John, but a lot of the “sexual/Romantic evidence” really can just be as construed as platonic love. I feel there may be some confirmation bias looking for “clues”. (Not an attack on anyone, but some of the analysises seem to try too hard, really).

He does make references, with the whole “calling him babe during concerts”, and “in bed” but that could just mean he’s not uncomfortable with coming off “gay”. He has a quote about it somewhere I think. He’s supportive of the community at any rate.

This is kind of my own bias, but at times I think he…plays it up a little during the present day? Again, I’m positive he did love John a lot, but with how he is, a charmer, good at manipulating his image, he knows there is a benefit to building up the “magical” Lennon McCartney dynamic. John’s dead, and the old conflicts have faded, so he has no reason not to. I don’t think he’s anti-social, or a psycho or anything, but he certainly does put a lot of thought into his image, especially now, with how he wants to leave his legacy.

I’m less knowledgeable about John, and the speculation about his mental illnesses, but on his end, I can certainly see it. Maybe he’s just blind, but the looks are very much…yeah. He does seem to rely Paul a lot, and hold him in very high regard (REGARDLESS of what those old male biographers might make of him). You just know he was suffering over Paul, poor bastard.

Not sure if anything happened. I think Paul knew though, and either ignored it, or was kind, knowing John wouldn’t act on it. OR he didn’t notice! With the whole “we shared beds A LOT. you would think he’d make a pass at me, darling~”

I guess that’s how I see it. I don’t really have strong feelings on the nature of their relationship, or want them to be “confirmed”, so I try to be as objective as possible! Not a shipper, but not a male biographer. In fact, I was very put off learning the ship was a thing at first! With every fan base “having to” ship the main male leads, that’s what I thought this was. But after three years, reading actual books, primary stuff, I’ve began to change my mind on its legitimacy, and this was my conclusion. But new information can always change!

Yeah, this is basically my big mclennon dilemma: did Paul love John?

Of course he loved him, but I mean did he harbour any homosexual feelings towards John - and I just go back and fourth on that a lot.

In my last response to an anon I wasn’t necessarily trying to argue that Paul was romantically/sexually attached to John, because all in all, I don’t believe he did - but it probably came off that way because I didn’t particularly like the way the anon had phrased some stuff (like calling him “a master manipulator” and “incapable of love”) and so I just sort of wanted to show that the relationship was more nuanced then just “john was simping for paul”. My overall point with that response was more so that whilst I think Paul struggles in showing real affection and emotions, I don’t think he was incapable of love prior to Linda. I think he did really love John (in whichever form of love you want to take it: romantically, platonically etc.)

And so my point I guess wasnt so much that Paul was always capable of love (because I think he did at least love his family, his close-friends, probably Jane etc.), but maybe more so that he was always capable of intimacy with another person, though he struggled with it.

But yeah, he was quite cruel to a lot of the girls he slept with in the 60s, but I wouldn’t say that suggests he was incapable of love (i know thats not what you’re saying but other people might interpret it through that lens) I would just say he was young, dumb, ridiculously rich and famous and not emotionally mature enough yet to really empathise with most of those girls. Not trying to completely excuse him, but like, i dunno, i always just try to view people from the most human perspective. Everyones an twat sometimes yknow

I also really struggle to see romance on Pauls behalf towards John - the only times I think “wait but maybe he did fancy john back” is when I read some of his lyrics (like in ‘Coming Up’, ‘Yvonne’s The One’, and to some extent ‘Here Today’ - though I think interpreting Here Today as strictly platonic love is still a valid interpretation). I mentioned this in a different post though, that analysing his lyrics just isnt particularly convincing for me, because it feels more like speculation - and also as someone who does write songs, I know that a lot of lyrics just arent as deep as we wish they were. It is really difficult to be truly introspective and honest in a song, without exaggerating or hyperbolising or fictionalising any autobiographical aspects.

I do see your point with Paul possibly playing up the “Lennon/McCartney m a g i c” - im not entirely sure how much I agree, but I do agree to some extent. I think he’s always been very image conscious, and being in what is probably the all-time most famous pop band definitely wouldve heightened that. Even as a teenager I think he’s always just had this natural charm about him, and that tends to stem I guess from a need to be liked; I think you can see it in every interview he’s ever done to be honest. Its not necessarily a bad thing, (because id take a charmer over a rude knobhead any day) but I guess it sort of just shows that Paul is flawed like everybody else. Also, just read @mothernatures-sons tags and I agree with her - Paul just knows when to be a nice person! Nothing wrong with that! It isnt manipulative like the last anon suggested, its just how most people are: polite :) Ive heard a lot of anecdotes from people who have worked with or met Paul and the majority of them say he was a just a nice guy. Not saying he was never an arsehole (cause yeah he was pretty cruel to those girls in the 60s) but I think overall, hes a pretty good guy 👍

On the other hand though, you could also say that superficial journalists are looking for superficial answers - and Paul knows what the people want to hear. But occasionally ill hear an interview that does seem more intimate then most - I havent listened to it in awhile, but the interview he did with Sean I remember felt more honest to me then most. And when he said he’d like to spend the day “in bed” with John, to me that felt like a genuine and fitting response. Because, whilst it has sexual connotations, it also just feels like he’s saying he’d just like to sit around, chat, dont chat, just whatever with John for a day. Like he would just like another moment of intimacy with him.

I think we are pretty much in agreement on most of this though! At first I was also like “nah, mclennon isnt real, teenage girls just love shipping guys!” (I am a teenaged girl and I can confirm this lol) but then it just sort of became apparent to me through reading more and more about their relationship that there probably was something more on Johns behalf. If John wasnt in love with Paul, then it feels as though a lot of things he said and did just dont add up (the big one for me is him marrying Yoko so soon after Paul married Linda - like I really cannot come up with a heterosexual explanation for that!)

But when it comes to Paul, though ill have moments of doubt, I dont think he was in love with John (homosexually) and I do think a lot of the evidence on Pauls behalf seems like a stretch (but like you, im not having a go at anyone, because I understand that it is easy to carried away, plus its fun - but realistically, most of Pauls evidence just is not convincing to me). He’s comfortable with his sexuality, and I really do try to respect that and not force a gay interpretation of quotes or songs from him, unless it is genuinely making me question his sexuality and mclennon.

PS dont worry, I didn’t take this is spam at all!! And also, I would never block someone just for disagreeing with me! I enjoy discussion and I think its good to engage with people who disagree with you! To be honest, id only block someone if they were purposely being a real arsehole <3

Requests (5/23/2021)

Hi lovelies! I’ve been getting so many requests & I’m working hard to get all of them in the queue. Thanks for sending them my way! I’m writing to let you know that the queue is now full until the end of June. I was able to get every requests from my May 8th post in there except for a few. Requests from May 8th for captions featuring Katy Perry, Jenna Fischer, Marisol Nichols, Addison Rae, Ariana Grande, Erin Kellyman, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Jhene Aiko, & Kirstin Maldonado will be posted in early July.

But there have been an absolute ton of requests since then too, yay! So I’m listing all the requests that I haven’t gotten to below. If you made a request but don’t see it below that might be for a few reasons. 1) I’ve written it already and it will be posted in June. 2) It’s one of the requests I posted on May 8th so I won’t talk about it here. 3) I considered it a demand not a request (for example, I received two that said “Anything with,” that wasn’t really a request just telling me to do it. Sorry if this bothers some of you but it is an issue with me so make sure you word your requests AS requests). Either way, thanks for the love, lovelies! :D

Hi I just had an idea for a game you could do. It could be where someone has to say as a boy what they’re like physically in stages. So first stage is hair color for example, second stage could be height, third stage could be body type, etc. An example would be if I was a black hair, short height, thick body type, I would match up with someone like Nicki Minaj. Just an idea which you could extend on. Hopefully it makes sense. I appreciate you!

I actually have a game like this mapped out called “Build a Sissy” where you choose age, hair color, and bra size, but it would take a LOT of work to make so I haven’t written it yet. Maybe some day though. :)

So it is not an issue with CGI “enhanced” celebrities but for Cats it is because I do not have a Furry fetish and I get uncomfortable thinking about writing caps for it. But I write caps with “manips” all the time (photoshopped images of celebs) so I’m not ruling out CGI enhanced celebs all together.

How about instead of removing the captions with Demi in them ,the images of Demi were just replaced with another celeb and if Demi is mentioned by name in the caption then that could be edited to mention a different celeb. I respect Demi's decision I do but lets not lose some well made captions. Also if you could please make a caption where Amy Adams feminises a fan and raises them as her daughter and Kristen Stewart makes you her submissive wife that would be appreciated. I'm a fan of them.

So about the Demi Lovato captions: I understand your feelings but I’m still going to delete the original captions. Because of how my captions are made I can’t just go back in & swap out an image or edit the text, I have to remake it from the ground up. I am hoping to do that with some (maybe all) of the Demi Lovato captions & re-publish them, but I’m still going to delete the originals.

I can do the Kristen Stewart one for sure and I’ll TRY to do the Amy Adams one I just am not 100% sure I can find a pic for that but we’ll see. :)

About the hiatus: I don’t know when it’s going to be. I want to TRY to make it to at least July 18th because I have a specific game in mind I want to post for 5 years of Celebrity TG Captions games, but after that I have no idea. I’ve been writing caps for a longer stretch of time since normal since I’ve switched to a part-time blog so I might burn out at any second but for right now I’ve still got some juice.

there it is! kama interlude analysis by a kama fan!

WELL. LIKE IT SAYS IN THE TITLE: this is just my own thoughts!! youre free to think whatever u want !! i am just putting my own knowledge into words because i genuinely love kama, and i would like for kama’s depth to be understood by the NA fandom a little more!! i try to stay as close as possible to their character in everything i do because i believe that the more in character they are, the funnier/more interesting content ppl will produce.

and hopefully i understood them well ???!!!! HOPEFULLY ?!

i will be screenshotting the translated reddit post under this read more and stop whenever something i find interesting to develop pops up ! or else it’ll get way too long lol if you wanna read the interlude for yourself heres the link!

with that said, let’s go!!

kama’s interlude begins with guda passing the hell out because of exhaustion and then waking up in a dream sequence where kama treats them to some relaxing adventures, stuff to take their mind off heavy things!! first dream sequence is kama roleplaying a highschool setting where they’re dating.

i like this because they openly admit that its an illusion, breaking the immersion but as long as youre okay with roleplaying, they’ll continue it LOL at some point, caesar mentions the student council president and arjuna appears behind him

since this is an illusion that kama made, i’ve been wondering about the fact that the way servants conduct eachother in this interlude is mostly because that’s how kama envisions they would act in a highschool setting, in an amusement park and finally with eachother (mostly for confirmed couples such as siegbryn, consort yu and her hubby etc...). suzuka and sei being gyarus is obvious, but arjuna as the student council president... is so cute???!!! i MEAN IT FITS ?! THATS A GREAT IDEA KAMA!!!! ANYWAY

this is kama’s first monologue and since they’re primarily the god of lust, all of the more vanilla stuff they mentions such as sharing a pair of headphones embarrasses them since its so tame. ITS CUTE !!! kama expects you to be horny in class !! what are you doing thinking about hand holding !!! medusa saves u from that tho with a direct reference to her relationship with kama’s vessel

this is interesting !! and reassuring !!! i think that kama as a character has a lot of depth and just reducing them to “sakura” would be a waste and this interlude shows how different they are from her. but they’re also similar! sakura went through a lot just like medusa says and kama does have trauma related to shiva. its not the same circumstances but the same kind of suffering which explains the nuance here. and what i like about chaldea is that there’s been multiple instances where its been proven that servants can grow thanks to their relationships with guda (most common example: leveling up your bonds) BUT ALSO, saint graph evolution (alts). and as a kama fan i’d like to see them happy someday and this interlude as a whole is proof of their healing/coping because of the time they spent in chaldea and how they interact with others. more on that later ! here, they don’t recognize medusa which is normal since they’re not sakura (someone else entierly), but...

they care about her ! because of sakura’s influence being a part of the servant called Kama(assassin). the difference here is important !! but i’ll come back on this in a bit. quick mention to the greek cupid <3 kamadusa nation we were fed (i clap by myself because im the only one who has 57575757557 kama rarepairs-----)

kama is a delinquent whos horny in class but still takes a few notes, enough to do well on their tests! and thats tea<3 smart horny lazyass !! theyre a gift

SO ARJUNA WAS OUT FOR BLOOD ????? ANYWAY, this is right after the actual fight against weirdo terrorists, and im happy to know that kama DOES enjoy a good fight (as proven in their voicelines as well) but theyre not a farming unit because it’d be too much work (single target NP..)...!!!!!!! lavish god of love....

FINALLYYYYYYYYYYY THE REAL DEAL !!!!!!!!!!!! “it feels wonderful to be your girlfriend” christ, kamadeva was so used to being a husband and a good lover, it reflected in their servant version.... but ree what do u mean by servant version???

I MEAN THE OBVIOUS !! kama explains it very well in the screenie just above !

“You know very well how servants work.”

KAMA ASSASSIN (the servant in your chaldea) is neither KAMADEVA or SAKURA MATOU or MARA. they’re a MIX OF PARTS OF THE THREE. creating an entierly new person(in this case, servant) !!!! it might sound like i’m repeating myself, but this is important!!!!!!!!! i will say this multiple times so people remember it !!! and if u already had this figured out: GOOD JOB I LOVE U !!!

Kamadeva (the god) has many stories, ones where he was born from concepts (dharma and shraddha), one where his parents are brahma and sarasvati, one where his parents are vishnu and lakshmi, stories about his reincarnation after his death where his parents are krishna and rukmini, his love with Rati and so on. We all know Sakura’s backstory since this is nasuverse. And Mara is a demon, an entity that tried to corrupt Buddha and prevent him from reaching enlightenment/stray from the path. Kama assassin has parts from all of these entities which explains why they have a vague longing for Rati, why they have a soft spot for Medusa and why they have an affinity with Kiara(and also like talking about corrupting u !).

they then mention how a japanese highschool setting is fun and all i have to say is: i’m gonna make an indo fam delinquent vs student council au out of this one folks !!!!!!!! i gotta !!!

OK next

TIME FOR THE SECOND DREAM SEQUENCE WHICH I WAS VERY VERY VERRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYY AFRAID OF BEFORE THE TRANSLATION CAME OUT.

THE PART WHERE KAMA ACTS LIKE YOUR CHILD.

well with their stage 1 it was expected but without the translation i have to say that i was scared shitless! because people hate thinking! and even if kama clearly tells you that it’s a charade, u know a JOKE. A DREAM SEQUENCE. DONT BE A CREEP. KAMA INTENDED FOR IT TO BE WHOLESOME. i know some ppl wont use their brains. but u know its fgo and degenerates are everywhere.

anyways. family bonding time ensues until another monologue appears!!

exactly like before, kama mentions myths that belonged to kamadeva. Meaning that the Kama in our chaldea isn’t the Kamadeva we know and is not Pradyumna either but the fact that the writers chose to have kama acknowledge it is very reassuring !!! Because it means that they’ve chosen to make it a part of their (complicated) history. Kama says that Pradyumna is the myth about themself they know the least, once again proving us that the Kama in our Chaldea (Assassin) is a different entity and that they were summoned to the throne upon their death, the moment they were burned by Shiva’s flames and became Ananga, in any case they’re still familiar with all of their own myths. it allows us to keep heroic spirits separate from their original myths. Obviously! And in the case of pseudo-servants, it allows us to keep them separate from their vessels. Cuz this is a fanservice japanese game. Andddd the fandom likes forgetting this fact quite a lot i’ve noticed. As a person who loves thinking about tons and tons of headcanons for fun, this allows us a lot of space ! Because this is fate/grand order at its base. Nasuverse.

I’m glad that the interlude explains it so clearly, it’s very good !! Because the majority of myths from every culture are confusing, family trees are confusing, names are confusing, powers and attributes are confusing... its a mess !!!! the fgo characters we know are just cut from their own respective timelines/historial figures so the writers can organize themselves more easily. Like cutting halves from a big cake. Kama (Assassin) is the Kama that died from Shiva’s flames and became the universe ONLY. In Nasuverse, Arthur Pendragon is a woman. ANYWAYS kama mentions “eternal pain that turns [them] into ash” being their key element. Their trauma is at the center of their heroic spirit self, what they are as a servant. This suffering is tied to everything they do, why they’re so lazy, why they’re so lax, why they’re so detached from their job. But they’re not detached from their role. And “job” and “role” have different connotations here. They refuse to work as a cupid because of obvious reasons. BUT. They’re not detached from their role as the God of Love, as the God of Passion. The embodiment of those feelings. This whole interlude is proof ! They’re giving u free therapy because they Love you. Passion. They feel your love. Passion. They acknowledge how much fun you’re having. How passionate you are about certain things. They might seem extremely detached and hateful, but they aren’t. They’re one of the most empathetic servants there is. And their ability to love everything, even the things they hate is what makes them so miserable. Because it’s a part of them. Because the concept of Kama in hinduism is linked to them. Be it lust or simply the passion born from anything you do where you’re enjoying yourself. ... I’d like to say that this contrast with Mara is interesting. And that i’m glad the writers chose to add in Mara to the kama assassin Beast mix.

Because the anger Mara feels can become a drivepoint for Kama. I’ve always believed that anger and sadness are two sides of the same coin, it’d explain how layered Kama is and how valid their emotions are. Constantly torn between love and hate. An eternal grudge (i don’t deserve to be hurt like this) and an eternal misery(maybe i do deserve to be hurt like this).

this is actual proof of kama’s growth as a servant and how servants evolve in chaldea !! chaldea is not the same as a grail war, its a special, cut-off place and thats what makes it even more relaxing to think about. Everytime u summon a servant in ur chaldea u give them a chance to have fun with you, to have fun with other servants, to make amends, to start from scratch, to discover things they would’ve never known in their time (movies, video games, tons of different foods etc...), u give them a chance to relax. to grow !! this is the headcanon that im most attached to and im glad to see it be confirmed in the interlude of a character i love tbqh i had to stop and talk about that.

Here is Matchmaker P4! Things are getting more intense between Y/N and yoongi but now we’ve thrown JIhoon into the mix...uh oh :oo

Plot: You’re a small name model who is close friends with Joshua and Taehyung and just moved to Korea after signing with an agency. You’ve been a fan of BTS for as long as you could remember and biased Yoongi. Little did you know, despite not being well known, you had caught Yoongi’s eye a long time ago and now you guys get to meet. Even though the two of you become friends, Yoongi’s apparently too shy and you’re just apparently oblivious to his feelings. Will it take a push from Taehyung and the rest of his members for you two to finally get together or will Yoongi be able to do it on his own?

And the winner for number one song is...BTS!” the MC announced as the fans went wild.

After the thank you speeches, the men walked off the stage back to their dressing room where various staff members had congratulated them. Hara and a few other trainees had also attended the broadcast to show their support and were congratulating them as they walked into the room.

“Good job guys!” Hara said with a big smile as the members thanked her. “I knew you guys would win!”

“Thanks Hara.” Jin said ruffling her hair with a smile as he looked towards the door where another group had walked in. “Y/N?”

You, Minyoung, Joshua and Dino along with a staff from Pledis walked into the room with a bouquet of flowers.

“Congratulations!!” you and Minyoung said as various members came to stand around you.

“What are you guys doing here?” Namjoon asked accepting the flowers.

“Your manager invited us and neither of us have anything to do till later so we figured why not.” you explained, “We were in the audience the whole time to watch the other groups.”

“You should have said something.” Taehyung said, “We made reservations at a restaurant for supper, do you guys want to come?”

Yoongi looked at you as you waved at him and he walked over to you as well.

“Hey, you feel better?” he asked putting his hand to your forehead and you nodded.

“I got cleared last week. We would’ve come sooner but work happened. When your managers invited us, we had to take it.” you answered looking at your watch, “Did you sleep last night?” you asked noting the eye bags he wore and he shrugged.

“Enough.” he said as his members moved to one side of the room leaving the two of you to talk in private. “I feel like going back to the dorm instead of eating tonight.” he said rubbing his eyes, “What are you guys doing?”

“My sister and I have to go back to the agency for a project...if you’re free tomorrow, you and the guys should come over for brunch. A few of the Seventeen members are going to be there since we never got to have a proper housewarming.” you said with a warm smile and Yoongi smiled back.

“I’ll see what everyone’s doing and let you know soon.” he said with a nod, “What’s the project about?”

“It’s top secret.” you said with a finger to your lips, “You should hear about it sometime soon though.”

Yoongi raised his eyebrow at you making you giggle, “It’s not a modeling thing?”

You shook your head “Nope. It’s much more fun for me though.”

“Then I’ll look forward to the reveal.” Yoongi said ruffling your hair before leaning closer to you as you were sitting on the couch while you watched your friends goof around with the other Seventeen members that had appeared. “How long till you guys leave?”

“We have to meet in forty-five minutes so Miyoung and I will leave in fifteen or so. I think some of the others decided to have dinner with you guys too.” you said and felt someone staring at you and turned to see Hara who was glaring daggers.

“Shame you guys can’t come.” he said and followed your gaze once he noticed you were distracted. “You good?”

Your eyes narrowed as you nodded your head, “Yea...I’m fine.”

“Are you sure?” he asked as Taehyung came up to the two of you.

“Y/N, you can’t make dinner?” he asked with a whine. “We haven’t hung out in forever!!”

“Didn’t Minyoung tell you we had a project to go back to?” you asked and he nodded his head glumly, “Well there you go. Yoongi will tell you guys something after anyways.”

“What are you telling Yoongi that you can’t share with me?” he asked with a small frown and you shrugged and looked at your watch, “Because I have to go…we’ll see you guys tomorrow.” you got up as did Yoongi who leaned over to give you a slight hug.

“See you tomorrow.” he said as you wrapped your arms around him.

“Please leave the trainee at home if you can.” you whispered in his ear and he nodded.

“Was never on planning on bringing her.” he said as you pulled away and smiled at him before going to join your sister at the door.

Hara walked up to Yoongi and tried to talk to him as he sat back on the couch to go on his phone.

“I heard you have a day off tomorrow...do you want to go to the arcade with a few of us?” she asked and Yoongi gave her the cold shoulder.

“Or we can also get food instead…” she suggested and Yoongi continued his silence.

“Yoongi-” she tried again but was cut off.

“I’m busy.” he said without looking up and smiled as he saw a text message from you about brunch the next day and was happy to get the details sooner or later. He would talk to his members about it later.

He was slightly irritated with Hara after what Taehyung had told him but Namjoon had said not to act until something did happen because it had the potential to effect the company and himself as an artist. So he held back and continued to do what he always did but he made sure to keep more of a distance. He had yet to have the chance to ask you about Hara though he had been meaning to. Unfortunately, due to scheduling, it was hard to have those nightly conversations as you regularly did.

As everyone got to the restaurant, the BTS members and the Seventeen members who had joined them spread out amongst the tables. Hara was disappointed since she didn’t get to sit next to Yoongi since he situated himself between Vernon and Seungcheol but was content sitting in front of him so she could still listen in on their conversations. Though she was one of the few trainees there, the BTS members had always made her feel like one of them which was good and bad on their part.

All the members had noticed quickly of her attachment to the group and was advised by their management to distance themselves from the trainees and only provide mentoring when asked to. That didn’t stop Hara though as she was always looking for them whenever she had the time. Jimin had even gone as far as to compare her to a puppy looking for their owner one time as a joke though Namjoon had quickly reprimanded him though in the back of his mind, he knew there was some truth to it.

As everyone enjoyed their dinner, a few people were looking down at their phones at a certain conversation that was going on.

[9:45pm] Minyoung: Hey is Yoongi the jealous type…?

[9:50pm] Joon: Depends…...why?

[9:51pm] Josh: ……….oh my gosh Minyoung you genius! That’s why you accepted the project! A clip’s going to be posted tonight right?

[9:52pm] Dino: My girlfriend = so smart ♥ AND WHY AREN’T YOU GUYS PRACTICING

[9:53pm] Kookie: Care to fill us in?

[9:53pm] Chimchim: What’s going on? Why would Yoongi be jealous?

[9:54pm] Minyoung: Well...you see. A few months ago, Soonyoung and Jihoon asked if we were interested in working on a project with them...I obviously agreed and so did Y/N and we learned that it was going to be a dance for the Hoshi Woozi Unit… Jihoon and Y/N are partnered up.

[9:59pm]Minyoung: We’re taking a quick break...technically Soonyoung and I are going through a part of the routine...Y/N and Jihoon are on the side reviewing their part. The company’s going to be posting a video and a picture soon~

[9:55pm] Tae: HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA omg...Y/N got paired up with Yoongi’s son.

[9:56pm] Joon: What kind of dance is it?

[9:56pm] Dino: It’s intimate...Sexy concept.Hopefully Yoongi doesn’t take it the wrong way. The girls didn’t know until Woozi showed them the song...they’ve actually been practicing for a while now…

[9:51pm] Josh: They started around the time Y/N joined the agency...we weren’t allowed to talk about it till the unit debut was announced which is tonight.

[9:57pm] Kookie: And you’re okay with this?

[9:58pm] Dino: I helped with the dance :) Plus everyone in the group knows we’re together.

[9:59pm] Minyoung: Getting back to practice, talk to you guys later.

[10:00pm] RM: When’s the comeback? We’ll be sure to attend at least one of the shows.

[10:01pm] Josh: I think it’s the week of your guys’ last performance...right before your break so I guess their schedules are going to cross over.

[10:05pm] RM: Wow...not sure if that’s going to be a good or bad thing…

[10:07pm] Josh: To MY knowledge, Jihoon knows that Y/N has an intense crush on Yoongi...I heard him making fun of her during one of their practices one day.

[10:10pm] Tae: Get him in this convo! We need him to help us plot! The dance might be the kick that Yoongi needs.

-Dino has added Woozi into the conversation-

[10:10pm] Dino: They’re practicing right now but at least he’s in the group.

[10:12pm] Jin: I just hope no one gets hurt in the process...

As the group got ready to leave, a notification from Instagram popped up on Taehyungs phone and when he went to check it, his jaw dropped.

“Holy shit! I didn’t know Y/N was THAT flexible!” he yelled causing everyones attention to be turned to him.

“What the heck are you talking about Tae?” Yoongi asked as the group minus a the Seventeen members crowded around him as they were around Seungcheol who was looking at the same post.

“Holy shit.” Jungkook said with wide eyes,

The post showed a photo of you, Jihoon, Minyoung and Soonyoung in your partner positions. While Minyoung had her leg wrapped around Soonyoungs waist, Jihoon had you in a dip where your leg had slid between his and his arm was around your waist. The photo had obviously been taken as the routine was finished because the editing had allowed everyone to see the beads of sweat on your faces.

As Yoongi observed the photo, a knot tied in his stomach and he gulped. It wasn’t because of the position itself that got him, it was the look that you shared with Jihoon that did. It was so intense yet so trusting, as if the two of you held a secret that no one else knew about. He didn’t like it not one bit.

As various people around him commented on the photo, he heard Seungcheol yell out to the group asking if they wanted to go play billiards. Yoongi agreed for once and figured it would be a good way to get his mind off his current thoughts which was how he didn’t like that you and Jihoon were together...despite it only being a collaboration between lablemates.

After a few rounds of the game, he looked down at his phone and saw that it was almost midnight so he excused himself and stepped out to make a phone call.

“Hello?” your voice came from the other side.

“Hey, how was practice?” he asked happy that you answered, “Where are you right now?”

“Hey Yoongs!” you said with happiness in your voice. Little did he know, you were happy he called as well, “Practice was fun...exhausting. The four of us are out having a late supper right now. Where are you guys?”

“Billiards hall with a few of the Seventeen members. Are we still on for brunch tomorrow?”

“Of course! Can you tell Chan that my sisters going to spend the night at my place tonight so he doesn’t need to worry about taking care of her drunk ass? She and Soonyoung are going crazy right now, you won’t believe the shit they did at practice today…” you said and continued the story on while Yoongi listened and laughed at certain parts.

Meanwhile, Taehyung and Joshua were on their phones taking a break from the game looking through various messages.

[11:45pm] Woozi: What the heck is this shit?

[11:50pm] Tae: Welcome to the Matchmakers club, son of Yoongi :)

[11:50pm] Woozi: What the shit?!

[11:51pm] Josh: So where’s Y/N?

[11:51pm] Woozi: She got a phone call and stepped out of the restaurant, leaving me with these two drunkards

[11:52pm] Tae: Yoongi’s gone too...I bet you they’re talking to each other.

[11:53pm] Woozi: I wouldn’t doubt it...I’m looking at her through the window and she has this goofy smile on her face. Why am I in here again?

[11:53pm] Tae: I need you to help make Yoongi jealous so he’ll ask Y/N out…

[11:53pm] Woozi: No way! Yoongi’s a good friend and the last thing I want is to cause bad blood between us.

[11:53pm] Tae: Believe me, you won’t.

[11:54pm] Josh: The agency posted the photo of your dance routine tonight and he knows that the two of you are working together...Plus, it’s not like you have to “flirt” with her. You two have been close wayyyy before she started with the agency. You just have to...show Yoongi in an indirect way how close you two are. Please Jihoon? You’re literally our only hope

[11:55pm] Tae: And if Yoongi gets mad at any point, I’ll fess up and say that it was all my idea. Pleassssssseeeee Jihoon.

[11:57pm] Woozi: … If Y/N or Yoongi find out about this, you guys are DEAD got it?

[11:58pm] Josh: Loud and clear.

[11:58pm] Tae: Now go get Y/N to come back and make Yoongi jealous!

Jihoon looked down at his phone and let out a sigh, what the heck was he getting himself into? He looked outside and saw that you were still on the phone and looked between Soonyoung and Minyoung who had both taken another shot and were giggling uncontrollably. Maybe it was a good time to bring you in, he had a feeling that these two weren’t going to last much longer.

He got up and told Soonyoung not to go anywhere before he stepped outside. “Hey Y/N” he called out.

You paused your conversation and turned to the voice who called your name, “Hold on, I think Jihoon needs something.” you said into the receiver before looking up at your good friend, “What’s up Ji?”

“Let’s get going. I’m not sure how much longer your sister and Soonyoung are going to last.” he said nodding his head towards the two.

“Okay, I’ll be there in a second.” you said with a nod and returned back to your phone, “Sorry, I have to go. Minyoung and Hoshi are at their limits and I think Jihoon needs help with them. I’ll see you tomorrow kay?”

“I’ll see you tomorrow Y/N..” Yoongi said not really ready to go yet, “Have a good night kay? Text me if you need anything for tomorrow.”

“You too Yoongs.” you said distractedly as Jihoon motioned for you to hurry up, “And I’ll let you know. I really got to go so I’ll see you tomorrow.” and with that you hung up the line and walked back into the restaurant to get your sister while Jihoon dealt with Soonyoung..

Yoongi looked down at his phone and let out a small sigh, “At least I’ll see her tomorrow.” he muttered to himself while shooting a quick text to the group saying that he was headed back to the dorms. He suddenly didn’t want to be around people anymore.

The next day, the BTS members showed up at your apartment with a few bags of food that amazingly, Joshua had asked them to bring.

When Namjoon knocked on the door, he expected to see your smiling face but instead was greeted by Seungcheol and Jeonghan.

“Hey guys, just on time.” Seungcheol said opening the door wider so everyone could come in.

The members were greeted with the smell of food and various Seventeen members lounging around your living room, or setting up the food on your dining room table. Mingyu was in the kitchen stirring something in a pot while Josuha was washing dishes. The only two members that they couldn’t see were Soonyoung and Jihoon as well as you and Minyoung.

“Where’s Soon and Woozi?” Jungkook asked and Jeonghan pointed towards the dance studio.

“They’re running through their comeback routine with Y/N and Minyoung.” he explained, “They were going to practice today but since the three of them stayed the night here, they cancelled the night time practice and just woke up early.”

“Soonyoung and Jihoon stayed the night?” Jimin asked as Seungcheol nodded.

“Her apartment was closer to the restaurant than our dorm and Soonyoung had too much fun. You guys can go check it out if you want.” he said, “And Y/N said to just make yourselves at home when you got here.”

The members made their way towards your dance room where they heard something along the lines of hip hop meets salsa music coming from the speakers. When they looked into the room, most of their jaws dropped.

“Holy shit.” Hoseok said as he watched the four of you move in sync.

“Dang, they weren’t kidding when they said it was a sexy concept.” Jimin said as he saw Jihoon dip you before pulling you back up to his chest before spinning you around. “Has anyone seen Y/N dance before?”

All the guys shook their heads as they continued to watch the practice. Yoongis eyes were literally transfixed on you as you moved to the music with Jihoon. He had no idea your hips could move the way they were moving now and he could see Jihoons hand get awfully close to an area which should only be reserved for significant others. He tried not to let it affect him but he felt some jealousy bubbling as you went into your finishing pose which was the dip but this time, you came back up and wrapped your leg around Jihoons waist and his hand sat right above your butt.

“Hold, two, three, four” Minyoung counted, “And break.”

“Great! We almost got it down perfectly.” Soonyoung said before waving at the guys of BTS through the mirror as they walked in, “Hey guys! What’d you think?”

“I think you guys are going to rock your unit debut.” Namjoon said as you all went to greet them, “Especially if you have the Yang sisters dancing with you on stage.”

“Yea, you guys looked really good. Y/N, where’d you learn to move your hips like that?” Hoseok asked and you shrugged.

“I’ve been dancing since I was three or so...so I learned at some point.” you said accepting a water bottle from Jihoon. “Did you guys just get here?”

“Not too long ago. We brought some stuff Josh asked for.” Taehyung said, “Are you guys done practice?”

“Yep, we’ve been up since seven in the morning.” you said with a cheeky grin and looked at Soonyoung and Minyoung who were almost dead, “Jihoon and I decided to teach those two a lesson about drinking so much.”

“Please never make us do that again.” Minyoung said with a groan, “Literally get back to your place at twelve thirty and we stayed up till like two.”

“Then don’t drink the Soju like water again.” Jihoon shot, “Who asked you idiots to drink more when we got back here?”

“You and Y/N were!” Soonyoung shot back as he took a big gulp from the water bottle. “How are you two not tired after falling asleep as four?”

“One, we didn’t drink during supper since we had to take care of your asses and two, I’m naturally a morning person.” you retorted.

“I was too busy wanting to teach you a lesson to care about sleep honestly.” Jihoon said with a shrug just as Seungcheol popped his head in.

“Hey guys, the rest of the foods ready. Let’s go eat.” he said before disappearing again.

Jihoon looked down at you and then gave Yoongi a side glance and saw him watching you from the corner of his eye as he was talking to Namjoon and Soonyoung.

He offered you his hand and pulled you up once you took it, “Let’s go, I’m starved.” he said as he lead you out through the other door, passing by Yoongi and Namjoon along the way.

You gave Yoongi a smile as you passed him, following Jihoon into the living room where all the food was already set up.

“Dang guys, you did this in two hours?” you asked as Joshua handed you a plate.

“Considering the four of you were busy, yes.” he responded as everyone started taking food from the buffet style set up.

You went to sit in your living room, happy that your apartment was open concept so it connected well with the dining room and watched as everyone else settled in and started eating.

Jihoon had sat next to you and the two of you started having a conversation with Hoseok about the dance routine. All the while, Yoongi sat behind you on the couch talking to Seungcheol though half listening to the conversation you were having.

Taehyung and Joshua shared a look and snickered behind their food as they watched Yoongi eventually become your back support and at the same time, you were making fun of Jihoon about hating skin ship and Jihoon leaned over and smacked you in the forehead.

“So are they really that close?” Taehyung asked Joshua as they continued to observe the three of you.

“Oh yea.” Joshua said with a nod, “they kind of clicked when I introduced them and I know they’ve kept in touch over the years. I think he actually knows a bit more about her than I do.”

“Dang…” Taehyung, “No wonder they had so much chemistry while dancing together…You could literally see the electricity going between them.”

“You saw it too eh?” Joshua said, “It’s why the choreographers wanted them to work together. It’s platonic though. Jihoon has been teasing Y/N about her infatuation with Yoongi since day 1”

“So there’s no chance of…” Taehyung started and Joshua shook his head.

“He makes fun of her about her crush on the guy so I highly doubt it. She trusts him though or else they wouldn’t be dancing together the way they are.” he said, “I’m almost one hundred percent sure that they have this younger brother, older sister complex.”

“That’s good then.” Taehyung said as he saw you excuse yourself from your conversation and head towards the kitchen and Yoongi following a few seconds later.

“Hey you.” Yoongi said walking into the kitchen as you put your paper plate into the garbage can.

“Hey you.” you said back turning around as he did the same and the two of you leaned against the kitchen counter.

“Did I...tell you that you look really good dancing?” he asked semi flirting. He had no idea where this confidence was coming from but deep down, he also knew that it had to do with your interactions with a certain producer of Seventeen. He wasn’t completely sure about your relationship with the other but it looked like you guys were close enough to share water bottles so it had to be something.

“Nope.” you said with a small smile, “But that’s nice to know...what’s up?”

“I figured now would be a decent time to talk about our date.” he said, “I was thinking maybe the day after our goodbye stage.”

“Are you sure you want to talk about this with twenty other people in the other room?” you asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I saw you put a garbage bag outside...and if the “Matchmaking Crew” is smart, they’d know to not let anyone come in.” he explained with a shrug, “So back to our date...I was thinking of having a full day planned. Would that work for you?”

“It should…” you said thinking, “The guys aren’t going to be on many music shows this come around since Seventeen’s comeback will be coinciding and I know we have that day free…”

“Great, so then it’s a date.” he said leaning down to kiss your cheek all of a sudden causing you to blush a deep red. He then casually walked out of the kitchen whistling as you stared at his back in shock.

“Min Yoongi!” you almost yelled, thankfully the voices in the other room covered it up.

The Official Lovelytonys Guide to Iron Man Comics

Not to toot my own horn, but I’m about to save some lives. Buckle up.

Six months ago, I was asked for comic recs. I’m posting those recs today. Why so long? Because I couldn’t just make a rec list, no, I’m too extra for that. I had to go and make, to the best of my ability and knowledge, my own entire personal guide to Iron Man comics. I also have a tendency to start projects and not do them. But I did this one! And now I share it with you.

For your assistance, I’m going to link this Comic Book Herald article which is a full Iron Man reading order (LIFESAVER) and has links to amazon to buy the collections & arcs being talked about if you are so inclined.

You can find comics on amazon, ebay, the marvel website or Marvel Digital Comics Store (you can buy digital versions of comics), or just find a local comic shop and see what they have. You can easily find any comic you want free to read online, but the websites are a little shady. I’ll leave it to your discretion.

Opinions on comics are SO subjective, just find out what you like and stick to it. I just figured I’d lend my own personal helping hand for you get started, because doing so can be intimidating.

Short version (the recommendation-y part)

Recs because I like them:

Iron Man Volume 3 (1998)- #1-25 (my actual absolute FAVORITE RUN of all time and my number one recommendation. It’s by Kurt Busiek, Roger Stern, and Sean Chen), #26-30, #62-63, #73-78. Iron Man Volume 4 (2005) #1-35. Invincible Iron Man (2008) spanned many years so you should read at least some, and it has many fans, but I am not one of them, so I’m not gonna rec too much. Issues #1-6 and its epilogue, #7, are worth a read and the arc spanning #8-19 is probably the best from the era, I would say that I enjoyed that arc. Next is Brian Michael Bendis’ stuff, which has a pretty bad rep and while I don’t hate it as much as others do, I wouldn’t say I love it. It is, however, the most recent completed run & important stuff happens, and there’s some good stuff here and there, so yeah. I don’t really have any specific recs from here...just read the whole thing and see what you get out of it or scroll down to the guide section and see the highlights I picked out. Invincible Iron Man (2015) #1-25, and Invincible Iron Man (2016) #1-600 (they changed the numbering halfway through, it’s not 600 issues it’s only I think 19).

Recs because important stuff happens even if I don’t necessarily like them:

Civil War I (occurs during the Iron Man run starting in 2005), Civil War II (occurs during Brian Michael Bendis era), Iron Man (2012) #9-17 “The Secret Origin of Tony Stark.”

Long version (the guide-y part)

First off, I’m going to tell you that my suggested starting points are Invincible Iron Man (1998) which was my starting point, and Invincible Iron Man (2005). Much more on those below.

I haven’t read Mr. Stark’s classic adventures yet because there’s a daunting number of them and I still need to find a starting point, so we’re gonna start with...

Volume 3 (1998):

Okay I have SO MUCH to say here because I’d die for this volume!! It’s considered by many to be nothing special but there’s a lot to appreciate if you’re a fan of Tony in the way that many are here on tumblr- caring about character development & character moments first and foremost. I’ll break down my favorites for ya

#1- does a good job of setting the tone for Tony and this era of Invincible Iron Man. Some nice Tony character details are in there. Volume 3 is started with Kurt Busiek writing (later joined by Roger Stern) and Sean Chen on pencils. I LOVED this team, this is my FAVORITE run of Iron Man that I’ve read, PLEASE read all 25 issues. I thought Busiek understood Tony really well and I just loved the way Chen drew Tony (and everything else), and their first issue is surprisingly enjoyable for mostly existing to set the groundwork for a fresh start.

#4-5- I think this is where the run starts to kick into gear. Tony’s on-and-off girlfriend for the era, Rumiko, is introduced and she’s fun (but as the years went on, deserved much better writing). Tony kicks some butt & is a hero.

#6- an awesome Iron Man/Black Widow team up. It shows a really nice friendship between Tony & Nat. Also, Nat kicks butt & it’s great

I’m recommending every issue that builds Tony’s relationship with Carol Danvers (at this time, she was Warbird, not Captain Marvel). #7, #11-12, #18, #19, #21, and #23-25. Their storyline details Tony’s endeavors to help Carol overcome alcoholism. At least read the Carol parts of the issues she’s only in a few panels of. Major highlight of the Iron Man comics I’ve read. Also- knowing this background will definitely make Civil War II have more weight

#8-12- Tony gets the actual daylights beaten out of him and then some, leading into a compelling 2-issue Mandarin arc, this then leads into an interesting 2-issue team up with Warbird that gives us an answer as to why his injuries were so bad. It hurts but it’s good

#13- an actually really compelling single-issue story that involves some trippy, creepy mind control stuff and takes a look into Tony’s head- specifically questioning whether or not being Iron Man has become an addiction. You can’t tell yet but I’m trying my hardest to not recommend every single issue

#26-30- The Mask in the Iron Man arc. This is the first issue without Busiek writing- Joe Quesada steps in and it’s good stuff. It’s also Sean Chen’s last arc. It starts with Tony punching a guy in the face to protect Rumiko but getting punched back and having to wear a nose splint- it’s really cute. Then Tony and Ru run into relationship problems. Then the Iron Man armor becomes sentient, basically falls in love with Tony, and kidnaps him on a remote island. Wait-what? Yeah, it’s really weird in hindsight, but while you’re reading it, it sure does pull you in. One of the biggest standouts of the whole era and something of an instant classic. Also, the first few pages of #31 give you a little aftermath.

#37-40- this wasn’t my favorite arc but I’m recommending it just because of how wild it ends up being. These were the days when IIM wasn’t afraid to have a big imagination. And I mean big, like, who thought of this? Well, Frank Tieri is writing at this point (he’s okay, not my favorite of the volume), and Alitha Martinez & Paul Ryan are on pencils (it’s fine, but you’ll miss Sean Chen) (you’ll always miss Sean Chen). Also, a major player in this arc is Tiberius Stone so maybe read it to know who he is.

#50- “Tinman”. Issue 50 was meant to be a place for new readers to jump in. Mike Grell & Michael Ryan are at the reigns as writer and artist. Grell’s characterization was fairly solid, my favorite next to Busiek in this era. His version of Tony is more in touch with his emotions, I guess, than some like to characterize him. Sometimes he gets aggressive when he’s angry but there’s also a lot of really sweet moments and they portray him as doing a lot of good, like funding a rehab/safehouse for kids on the street. Grell’s stories are generally grittier and more violent but Tony himself doesn’t really take a dark turn. Issue #50 has both action and a VERY SOFT Tony, definitely recommend it

#53-55- “Book of the Ten Rings”. Again, it’s grittier than the stuff that came before it, but it’s good. Once the main story wraps up, something really important happens at the end. Also, it’s important to note here for people that weren’t previously into comics that at this point, Pepper and Happy are a thing, not Pepper and Tony as seen in the MCU

#59-61- “In Shining Armor”. Tony travels back to Medieval times and it’s not exactly a good time for him but it’s a wild time for us. Gotta love a good old fashioned time travel arc

#62-63- “You Can’t Always Get”. Oh god PLEASE read this one, if you only listen to one of my post-Busiek & Chen recs this is the one, the Tony content is so precious

#73-78- “The Best Defense”. The arc detailing Tony’s journey to becoming Secretary of Defense because yes, that happened. A very interesting concept to watch Tony go through and one of the most notable stories in this era.

Volume 4 (2005):

This is the last of what I consider the Really Good Stuff (except for Civil War, but we’ll get there). These comics defined Tony Stark as we know him today, and you’ll notice that MCU Tony was definitely influenced by them. If you’re starting here, it’ll be Iron Man as you basically already know it. If you’re coming here off of Volume 3, then you’ll notice the tone of not just the stories but of Tony himself get darker. For whatever reason, writers looked at Tony and said “let’s find ways to bring his morals into question bc that’s Interesting!” It’s not bad (the Iron Man title, that is- Civil War is bad) but it doesn’t really reflect what came before it, I guess. I’m recommending all 35 issues bc why not but I’ll break it down for ya & make sure to point out my favorites

#1-6- “Extremis”. A must read. One of the most iconic Iron Man stories in 21st century comic history. It’s on everyone’s list. You are, as an Iron Man fan looking to get into IM comics, legally obligated to read this. This would also be the arc where I believe the MCU looked for inspiration for Tony characterization. Also Extremis obviously ended up in the MCU but it’s like way different in the MCU than in the source material

#7-12- “Execute Program”- Basically, Tony is screwed up post-Extremis. Poor guy. Please read this. Directly leads to Civil War…

Civil War (2006) #1-7- Ugh. So. Civil War. In my personal opinion- not a fan. I actually like the movie MUCH better and imo the movie is the way this should have been written. Unfortunately, you’ve gotta read it because it’s an important event. You’ll see people calling it “Tony Stark characterization murder” and THAT’S VALID. Like. Tony suddenly became...a villain?? literally the worst?? under the poorly written guise of “just doing what I have to do” but the stuff that happens….it just can’t be explained with “doing what I have to do”. Honestly it reads like the writers just wanted to pit Tony against Steve and didn’t care about keeping him in character. Tony basically had to be turned into a villain to make the story work because In-Character Tony would not have fit their needs. It sucks and I don’t want to recommend it but you have to read it because it affects so much that comes after it.

THE ONLY CIVIL WAR ANYTHING YOU SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER are tie ins and oneshots and I will tell you a couple

Invincible Iron Man #13-14- IIM’s CW tie ins. Issue 13 comes after CW #2, issue 14 after CW #5. Read these

Captain America/Iron Man: Casualties of War- oneshot to be read after Civil War #4. Tony offers Steve the chance to try and talk it out. Both explain their positions and a lot of comic history between them is brought up.

Civil War: The Confession: SO after CW, SPOILER SPOILER poor Steve is assassinated in Captain America #25 (it’s actually more wild than that bc superheroes don’t just die but whatever) and this is a oneshot with two halves, the first takes place after Steve is dead and is Tony-centric and I LITERALLY CRIED and the second takes place when Steve is imprisoned before he is killed. PLEASE read this

There’s more tie ins involving Tony that you should read but I’m sick of talking abt CW

BACK TO THE IRON MAN SOLO TITLE

Sooooo the title now changes from Invincible Iron Man to Iron Man: Director of SHIELD but it’s the same book

#15-18- It’s Tony’s first story arc as Director and it ends up being kind of wild actually

#21-28- ‘Haunted’. Starts out as a sort of murder mystery thing, spirals into something much bigger. Also, poor Tony is so screwed up in the head but what’s new. Definitely read this one

#29-32- ‘With Iron Hands’. Basically, an entire arc of Tony feeling guilty about his past?? Pretty much. There’s also a terrorist and a giant weapon and more fun stuff. The last you’ll see of Tony for the volume bc stuff goes down in the Secret Invasion event and War Machine takes over for the last 3 issues of the title. Wish I could be of help in regards to Secret Invasion, but I haven’t actually read it because I haven’t been able to find it. Just, idk, google search the plot of Secret Invasion like I did and you should be able to get by

Invincible Iron Man (2008) AKA Other Volume 4:

Okay lots of comics fans think this is one of the best Iron Man runs in history and I respect their opinions and perhaps you will share them but I’m gonna cut to the chase here: I am not one of those people. Look, I read all 62 issues so I have a fair opinion, and I’m just not a huge fan. Matt Fraction is writing and Salvador Larroca is drawing. In my experience, the stories drag on and it gets to the point where you’re just bored. I think I read the 89 issues of volume 3 faster than I read the 62 issues of this because I was just so bored with it. Also, I’m really not a fan of Larroca’s work on the book. I really disliked the way he drew Tony and the more I looked at it, it almost made me...uncomfortable? Some of his art is kind of gross imo. Plus, I didn’t love Fraction’s Tony characterization. I can’t quite articulate why, it just didn’t sit nicely w me. There were some moments where I thought “oh yeah that’s Correct” but many other moments where I thought “No Why Did You Write That”. He was good at writing some wild and intricate stories but sometimes I felt that character got lost in the midst of the action. That’s just me though, you might really like Fraction’s run, and there is some stuff worth pointing out.

#1-6- ‘The Five Nightmares’. A fairly iconic modern Iron Man story. Tony’s worst nightmare comes true when the son of Obadiah Stane uses Stark tech to cause absolutely horrific acts of terrorism. It gets pretty serious, but it sets the groundwork for this entire era of Iron Man. As far as Fraction stories go for me, it’s one of the better ones.

#7- Five Nightmares Epilogue. A team-up of sorts with Spider-Man that I actually genuinely think you should read, especially for the ending (and because Peter & Tony clearly wish they could be buddies again in this post-Civil War world).

#8-19- Okay it’s really long but I remember it stood out to me, all I remember is that it’s basically Tony Stark Brain Annihilation over the course of 12 issues and it hurts like heecckkk. Actually I’m gonna say definitely read this one. Also Rescue happens and that’s A Thing you should know about. Stuff gets fixed in the next arc, #20-24, but it’s not worth recommending imo so don’t read this if you’re gonna read it but if you’re not just know that SPOILER SPOILER Tony is fine except he accidentally erased Civil War from his memory (god I wish I could do that). SPOILER OVER

I think I’m gonna end it there for Fraction issues of interest. There’s probably more in there I should be recommending but I just. Can’t be bothered to comb through Fraction’s volume sorryyyyy I’m just not a fan

Iron Man (2012):

So this run is by Kieron Gillen and I don’t really want to recommend anything from it. I didn’t love it as a whole. Gillen laid way too heavily into the idea of “Tony Stark is a walking ego”. The stories were kind of interesting in theory but I thought the execution was mediocre for some reason. Although, not necessarily the art but specifically the coloring was nice- very vibrant. The actual art was by Greg Land who comic fans really seem to hate. I didn’t think his work on this was too bad idk. Again I don’t really want to recommend anything so there’s only one thing I’m putting on here and it’s:

#9-17- “The Secret Origin of Tony Stark”. So here’s the thing. Kieron Gillen said to himself “I need to do something that turns Tony Stark’s identity on its head. I need to redefine him”. And he actually kind of succeeded in that. And it’s actually annoying and it actually feels like something that should be retconned…. but hasn’t been?? And since it hasn’t been, it’s going to be important going forward so you should probably know about it. You could also just google it.

Invincible Iron (2015) by Man-Brian Michael Bendis

Yes, the infamous BMB. So, what’s the truth about his run on Iron Man? Is the amount of hate warranted? Well…that’ll be for you to decide. Personally, I think it was generally...meh. Not necessarily terrible just. Meh. Many fanboys act like this run is the bane of their existence and I don’t think I dislike it to that extent at all. I mean, it gets boring after a while, but the good moments are really enjoyable and I think it’s worth reading. Bendis’ characterization was sometimes weird because it felt notably inconsistent. However, the moments when he nailed it, he really did nail it. His Tony is a bit of a dork, a bit of a hot mess, a little vulnerable, and the moments when that’s at the forefront are great. There’s also some notable stuff going on here- Civil War 2 falls under this era (I hate it less than the first one but Marvel could do 50 Civil War events and I will probably not like any of them), and so does Riri Williams (who I love, just to get that opinion over with). Finding recs for this era is kind of weird for me because the things that stood out were almost never actual issues or stories, but rather specific character moments, so like, the volume is only 14 issues so tbh you can just trudge through them all and savor the good moments, but I’ll try to pull some recs out for ya

#2, #3- just for some character moments. These two are a part of a larger arc so it might be a little confusing to read them on their own but who cares

#4, #5- Tony fights ninjas and visits kids at a hospital and MJ Watson & Doctor Strange make appearances so it’s kinda cool idk

#9-11- only because you meet Miss Riri Williams, the other parts won’t make sense since it’s in the middle of an arc but eh. Honestly the actual story didn’t strike me as being very special so like unless you’re into it you can just skim for the parts that Riri is in since she’ll be important later

Aaaand CIVIL WAR 2

Civil War II #0-8- okay I don’t dislike it as strongly as I dislike the first CW but I still?? Don’t like it?? Like at all? But something really important to Tony’s stories happens at the end and Tony is one of the main characters in the event so like. You should read it. The main problem I remember is that the pace felt so slow. This event is Iron Man vs Captain Marvel which kinda hurt me bc of how much I loved them from 1998’s volume but it’s fine!! They never address their past in the actual event but there’s a tie-in that does so that’s good I guess. Just get through it idk what to tell you

Back to Invincible Iron Man

#12, #13, #14- tie-ins to Civil War II. #12 and #13 I think come after CW2 #2?? Maybe?? And I think #14 comes after CW2 #6?? Anyway #14 actually acknowledges Tony & Carol’s past so you should give that a read while going through the event.

Invincible Iron Man (2016)

Sooo some Serious Stuff happened in Civil War II that’s going to have an effect that lasts a while. I don’t wanna spoil it, though. When you do get to the end of CW2, you can rest assured that Tony will still have a major presence as a character in this title, but Riri Williams takes the spotlight. Opinions on her are mixed, I personally love her. This, like its 2015 sister, can honestly just be read all the way through, it’s only 19 issues, but I’ll try to find stuff. Also, Tony & Riri’s banter is ALWAYS golden so just read to enjoy it tbh. On we go!

#1, #2- gives you the background on Riri now that she’s taking center stage. She’s just so darn endearing.

#11- It’s basically an issue about everyone reflecting on how Tony is a good person and different from how the public perceives him. He holds orphaned babies from around the world. It’s good stuff.

#593-600- the numbering changed, there’s obviously not actually 600 issues lol. So yes this is kind of long for an arc, but it’s important because it resolves what happened to Tony in Civil War 2. I remember getting bored with it after a few issues, like it wasn’t bad I just remember it feeling slow. Idk. It’s important. Just read it.

Stuff that I don’t think is worth your time:

Invincible Iron Man volume 2 (1996)- I think Marvel was doing some kind of reboot or something because Iron Man’s origin was redone as well as The Hulk’s. It’s amazing how a run that was only 13 issues felt like such a large waste of my time. I didn’t think there was anything of note. I basically don’t even remember what happened in it. Also the sexualization of women was so casual and constant on top of the run not being particularly remarkable so yeah don’t waste your time

Superior Iron Man (2015)- I dislike the idea of this so much that I don’t even want to explain it ugh it’s a spin off of an event called Axis that involved some psychic type stuff that altered the personalities of those involved, boosting Tony’s worst qualities and making him evil. Marvel then decided to make a series about it and it’s only 9 issues but wow it’s amazing how hard it can be for me to get through 9 issues. I could barely read it I just so strongly dislike this idea ok so basically Evil Tony creates Extremis 3.0 which is an app that lets a person make themselves physically into the person they wish they were (In the pages of Axis, Tony personally made himself not an alcoholic because that’s not disrespecting an incredibly important character detail and there was one particularly awful panel of him drinking alcohol in front of a crowd of cheering people and saying “I missed you, sweetheart”). He is testing this app on San Francisco and effectively creates two classes of people- the “perfect” people who could access the app and the “imperfect” people who can’t and that goes about as well as you’d think. Then he makes it obscenely expensive to use which also goes about as well as you’d think. And more stuff happens. Here’s the thing. I’m sure many people thought the concept of a villainous Tony Stark was cool, but I just don’t like the implications of it. The way it’s written kind of gives the idea that, with his personality, Tony could easily become a villain. Given that some people already think of Tony Stark as a villain, reading it just made me cringe. And the WORST thing about it is that, while this is a result of Axis, it’s still Tony himself. According to the writers, he has “surrendered to his id and his legendary ego” (god I’m about to gag) after the mind-altering events of Axis brought those things out in him. Despite my qualms, was the book well-written? I will never be able to read it that objectively, so I can’t say. But clearly, as you can see by the size of this here rant (sorry), I dislike the very idea of it enough to put it on my “do not touch” list.

Okay. Wow. I finally did it. Wow. Six months and it’s done.

I am simply the mentor figure in your hero’s journey. As you get used to navigating comics and reading orders, you’ll find it easier to venture out, and there’s so many ways to go. A character crossed over into something you read and you liked them a lot? Look up their reading order. A writer or artist really impressed you? Do a google search and find what else they’ve worked on. There’s a whole world of comics out there. Go have some fun.

I leave you with 3 rules of being a comic fan:

1. No one hates comics more than comic book readers. We’re bitter because we care. You’ll be like a jaded war veteran who writes a thousand word rant about why a certain author’s mischaracterization of your fave offended you personally way faster than you’d think.

2. Follow the trail of what interests you and, while acknowledging what may be widely believed, proudly own your personal opinions.

3. It’s addictive. Embrace it. You start with one issue, and before you know it, you’ve read 200 issues and know 20 years of history on one character in less than a year. That might be how it goes for you. Just go with it.

so last night people were sharing stories of how they became larries and i thought i’d make a big (emphasis on big) ol list of them because i found them really fun to read

I've been a 1D fan since 2013 and my sister and i always thought that l&h looked so good together but only the bromance and we're like "omg larries destroyed their friendship poor eleanor 1!1!1!", then in 2015 the "i'm gay pretty unfortunate isn't eleanor ?" happened and i was like WHAAT???? and i ended up searching more and more about larry (bc it was the only thing that came to my mind) and i found the videos and then i told my sister and then here we are.

I became a larrie because someone in my dash who rarely post about 1D posted the first louis/fred pic and tagged it babygate. So I went looking into the tag and found everything. I had doubt but then i saw the moment where H touch L arm and i was in! I actually became a fan of the music after. I've done everything in reverse with this band! But when i entered the fandom in feb2016 and i was hopping to see it all end like a month later! But hey, still here! And loving it mostly! End it!

it was 2011 and my friend told me she had found a really good song and the singers were so cute, she showed me wmyb video and i spent the whole day listening to it and then in the evening i wanted to find out more about these 5 guys. i started watching video diaries ans i was looking for the next one but i accidentally clicked "best larry moments" video aaand the rest is history

I became a larrie after aimh tweet hits 2m and everyone on all of my social media started freaking out even though I didn't follow any 1D blogs so I started search about them and now I'm here also at that time I was kinda homophobic 'cause I live in russia and grown up in middle eastern family and now I'm proud lesbian who knows a lot about LGBTQ+ history so thank you to my larents and 1D for making me gay lol 🌈💕

i was a fan since 2011 but didnt know about larry bc i was young and didnt have any social media but around 2013-2014 my friend showed me the "are you and louis dating" vid and i was like the mr krabs meme bc i just couldnt understand why larry would have to be covered up so i went home and watched "why elounor is fake" videos and my eyes were open and ever since that day ive been a larrie and i regret not knowing sooner but im here now !!

i saw the daddy daddy cool tweet and was like dude that's the wrong type of daddywtf? & I hadn't heard about a pregnancy? then a week later I had read the treatise and had a side blog and watched all the freddieismyqueen videos & was in way too deeeep lol. I've never been around when they weren't on the break even, I'm so confused about how I got here but now I can't escape 😝I had never even listened to their music before but then I also did that and was like damn they're so good?!

I just remembered going out once and being quite tipsy when DMD video came on so I pointed to Louis and Harry and said 'they're in love, but shh nobody can know' and one of my friends looked at me with a WTF?? expression on her face and said 'but I thought that was common knowledge'. Mind you, she still doesn't even know their names, let alone anything else. That was around the time bg was still a fresh wound and I'll never forget it bc it was so nice to hear it and also my hangover was a bitch.

I got interested in 1D right after their last concert, like right on Halloween. I became a Larrie that very same day too, right after i read Dan Wattpad's infamous "Harry and Louis hate each other". I saw articles floating around saying how they were enemies, reason for Zayn leaving...blah blah. I was sceptical, then i came across the famous OTRA hug, and i was like, no fucking way they hate each other, not with how they are hugging. I then delved into YT and discovered freddieismyqueen. Bless.

I joined july 2014 (2 months after they 've passed my country ouch) and was instantly hooked because this shit is like crack. Today I'm the darkest larrie that exists preaching the word for everyone who'll listen. I can WAIT for their CO because I have a party prepared? I literally have a wine since 2014 in my cellar that I'm only going to open the day they're free, I have nauthical theme stocked for the party. My friends just know that they have to come and that I'll be crying the whole month!!

weirdly enough i became a larry cos of that stupid channel 4 documentary id never heard of larry or gay shipping or whatever before that and i saw that and i was very mr krabs meme and i looked into it saw that it wasn't evil and gross like they were portraying it and never turned back

I joined the fandom in late 2012 and I wasn't a larrie but I wasn't an anti either i just hadn't looked into it but then i remember during the confirmation of bg on gma i felt bad for harry and i didnt really know why and I was surprised by my own reaction. Then with bg going on I started to realise that none of that could be real I did my research and I've been a larrie ever since :)

I joined the fandom in 2012, used to think Elounor was real but just because I never looked into it and I knew some people thought Larry was real at the time so I checked this insta page that debunked Elounor and I have no regrets 💙💚

When I become a 1D fan, in 2012, I liked elounor and I liked Eleanor unfortunately. I was not that into fandom things so I wasn't paying attention to details. I became a larrie when my friend first introduced me to fanfiction. I read a larry one and was totally amazed by it. After that, I switched between het ones and larry ones, but always came back to larry. After that, I simply became obsessed with the pair, something that made me fall in love with the band and all of them. I watched the dairies and everything, and just saw how clear their infatuation was. Tumblr and a lot of other sites just simply proved the theory even more. No regrets ❤

I got into this fandom because of my best friend. She showed me week 4 diary video... and I was like are those two in a relationship?? I pointed at louis and harry and she said no why? And I was like I don't know they seem cozy together and I pointed out that harry was staring at louis lips... she didn't believe me first but now she is a larrie😂 So basically I got into this fandom knowing larry is real

I became a fan of the boys 4 years ago. I read about Larry and that fans believed they were together so I went on YouTube and saw some videos and read some stories (I think it was here on tumblr??) and I immediately believed they were together.
