if someone is talking about how much they love their parents do not jump in and start venting about your issues with your parents. if someone is venting about their issues with their parents do not jump in and start talking about how much you love your parents. peace and love amen swag city

#peach rambles #hall of fame i guess #anyway if you don’t know what to say in the former case #just say ‘aw that’s nice!/that’s cool!’ or ask a follow-up question. like ‘how often does [good thing] happen?’#people love being asked questions about themselves esp when they’re happy!#and if you don’t know what to say in the latter situation a simple ‘aw that sucks… ouch… i’m sorry’ or anything to that effect #’but that feels so fake and empty’ you’d be surprised how far little platitudes go #a bandaid and a kiss won’t heal the wound but they make you feel better #people at least like knowing that you heard them and that you want to try #you don’t have to be a poet to know what to say but just say something or at least do not say something disrespectful!

I was rambling on the issue of museums and human remains and how certain populations are more likely to have their bodies put on display to be gawked at and then went "well I guess the Pompeii casts were of Europeans. there are bones in there right?" and Googled it to make sure, at which point I confirmed that yes there are bones in there, but more interestingly DNA testing revealed that a cast of an adult holding a child everyone assumed was a mother and child were, in fact, a man and a kid entirely unrelated to him. Honestly that's more moving to me. Maybe they were connected in a way other than blood, but maybe a stranger saw a child when the world was ending and thought the one thing he could do was hold them.

#or maybe he was the babysitter. idk #crack open a pompeii cast like a kinder egg and there's teeth in there #now personally if people wanted to put my bones on display I'd be cool with it #maybe I'll decide to donate myself to science idk. please i love you i'm begging you bring back suspension of disbelief bring back trusting the audience like. i cannot handle any more dialogue that sounds like a legal document. "hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!

do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

#they should live under each other’s skin in a way that’s weird to everyone else. actually.#also on a more serious note since this is getting notes mental illness does not preclude people from deserving love #or the ability to give and receive it #it also does not make you inherently toxic #sometimes people are just toxic anyways of course #and a lot of people enjoy a toxic ship and are relating that to this and that’s cool!#but like #if you believe that’s the only option you’re wrong buddy #people can be worse together but they can also be better #acting like a character or a person has to ‘fix’ their trauma or what have you to be worthy is. a fucking weird mindset.#but anyways!
