you should only get social security if you have children
#this is a hot take that just came to me#i've put no thought into it#but my instinct is that historically children would take care of their parents in old age#now the state does#so there is less incentive to have children#but if you can only get social security if you have children#then it's basically the same idea just a step removed#and it ensures there will be future generations to support older generations#which obviously is becoming an increasingly serious concern#and the long time horizon will minimize adverse selection#low quality people who only care about immediate profit won't be as incentivized to have kids#plus i feel like if you want the state to take care of you in old age#you should have some duty to invest in its future by having children#also a bachelor tax#and a funko pop owner tax#but seriously if you want to forgo having children and thus basically sentence your nation to death#so you can accrue wealth and live a selfish life of ease and luxury#then you should have no expectation of the state taking care of you#and instead you should take from your own pool of wealth that you accrued from not having children#in order to provide for your own retirement at your own expense#seems only fair
