Boats weren't exactly something unfamiliar to her, by any means. Except - she was used to yachts and lounging on the deck. Tiny little boats that had to be moved by hand, that required way too much use of her limited strength? Those were another beast altogether. She nearly abandoned the whole idea once she realized just how difficult and uncute it would be to struggle her way across the water. So, maybe she cheated a bit with some magical help - nobody would know. Finally, the pieces were in place for a night Brie wouldn't forget - or, that they could both forget forever if anything went wrong. She only hoped that nothing terrible would happen - that some lake monster wouldn't come try to snatch everyone up and drown them, once again ruining her carefully laid plans.

Anyway - she was all smiles as she sat across from Brielle, doing her best to look like she was doing her part to move the boat. The life vest she was forced to wear kind of clashed with her outfit - but she would just take it off when it came time to take photos. "This is cute, right?" She reached out to pat her knee, an uncharacteristically awkward gesture. For the first time in probably ever, she was nervous. It didn't help that things had gotten slightly heated after their discussion the other night about her volunteer work at the country club - but they'd moved past that. Hopefully. "I was thinking about singing at the little karaoke thing on Wednesday - I could totally get Blossom Babe, right?"

"I did that is true," Bri trailed off knowing that she had said that she had wanted her funeral birthday to be a lot of fun and Paloma was right. A funeral of only three to four would be a fairly depressing turn out. And yet, she found her bottom lip jutting out slightly into a small pout at the thought that Paloma had to rope people into faking being sad. "It's great, Lo. Really, it's just, I don't know. It kind of seems like pity guests, if that makes any sense? Like people didn't care enough about me when I was living so we have to pay people to pretend now? Which I know isn't the case and its just that we can't exactly invite humans here or then we're making them have to choose to stay in town forever to keep their memories or forget the entire existence of magic and the fact I'm alive all over again, but," Her bottom lip began to quiver as she thought back to her parents and how they still were still under the assumption that she was dead. Sure, she could risk nearly dying from hunters to go home and tell them, but if she did, they'd never let her out of their sight again which would only put her entire family at risk or she'd have to expose the supernatural existence and then would die at the hands of the Council for breaking the accords the second she brought her family back to Lunar Cove with her. Even if she managed to defy all of the odds and not end up dead, how could she tell her parents that she would never age while they would? It seemed there was no winning. So, the bribed or persuaded attendees who didn't give a damn about her were probably the best choice as much as even if the thought made her, in part, want to cry. At least way, maybe she could make meet some new people in this god forsaken town? Maybe make a friend? Maybe not a very good one if they could be so easily persuaded to attend another's funeral, but at least it was something, right?

"But, hey, it's not you. The party is perfect, promise. And It will be a lot fun," Bells gave a little nod at the thought, offering up a small smile as she gave Paloma's hand a reassuring squeeze, almost in an attempt to convince herself as much as to convince the other. "I just think I need to get out of my own head? But, really? He did? Well, now I can't wait to hear it. I'm sure you're going to have me tearing up too," She admitted. Her smile softening as she moved to wrap her arms around Lo, resting her head on the other girl's shoulder as she gave her another small squeeze. "You really are one of my favorite people, Lo. And oh, I didn't, but I can? I mean say something that is? I just didn't think to. Most of the time the deceased doesn't, but then again most aren't able to speak at their own funeral with the whole being dead thing... so... do you think I should say something? Or sing something? What do you think would be best?"

“Bri - no, please don’t look so sad-“ she just wanted to hold her face and keep her from pouting like that. “Because they - well, when I talked to Meena at the country club…she said I could join, and she made me a VIP. All I had to do was let some vampires feed from me - it was like donating blood at like - the blood charity,” She was taken aback by the reaction. Somehow, it hadn’t occurred to her that it would be an issue for people to feed from her. It had seemed like a good idea when Meena pitched it to her - she was getting perks for a little prick and some blood, and even got a little boost of energy in return. Plus, Bella hadn’t ever expressed any interest in her blood at all. As much as she wondered what it would be like - and had wanted to offer. But wouldn’t she have asked by then, if she wanted to feed from her? “I don’t know - it never came up…” she flinched slightly at the outburst, her lips twisted to hide a frown. “I’m sorry-“ She was right - and really, she should have put those pieces together. She was always worried about how something she said or did could come off as insensitive to her - but she hadn’t thought of the fact that Bri had died herself, while someone fed from her. Except - it was kind of different, right? “I’m okay Bri - nothing happened to me,” She reached out to grip her hand, to reassure her, anxious that she’d hurt her feelings.

“I don’t know - literally any of that,” she sighed, her shoulders drooping as she mulled over the questions. “People were hurt - I had stood by the entire night. People always say I’m like - selfish, and I wanted to show that I’m not, and I can help even though I’m a human - isn't it good to help people even if you don't know them?" Like - my random followers are still important right?" " She shook her head. “Like Jonah-?” What was that supposed to mean? “…I did stay with you. Bri - I’m not leaving. I wasn’t going anywhere. I just - I had to do something. They were in trouble…” Her brow furrowed - “But you weren’t useless -“ she argued, “and - it wasn’t just whoever would bite. I tried to help people that needed it,” She pouted, the guilt even worse - “I’m sorry-“ The last thing she ever wanted to do was make her feel as though she wasn’t there for her when she was afraid. Of all the people in that stupid place that night - her best friend was the one person she cared most about. The other most important people in her life were in as much danger - but the people who fed from her - they didn’t matter so much. In the grand scheme of things.

The tension in her body slowly melted away as Bri held her, her heart slowly coming back from it's more erratic state. If she brushed her hair like that much longer, Paloma could fall asleep then and there. "Yeah - it'll make you feel better, right?" She felt horrible - how much had Bri been holding in? Plus - she just liked it when she doted over her. "That's not fair - I asked you, there's nobody else even here-" She had to fight hard not to sound like she was whining - why did it feel like she'd broken some cardinal rule? "You're not a good liar" she mumbled - mirroring what she'd said earlier. ”…it wasn’t just anyone, Bri. Meena wouldn’t let just anyone drink my blood,” she added, trying to reassure her somehow. “Should I stop volunteering there?” She asked, eyes soft as she took in the sad sight of her best friend. As cute as she was when she had that grumpy scrunched nose face - it wasn’t worth it if she felt betrayed. “I really didn’t like - I didn’t get it. But nobody else wanted my blood - I didn’t think it mattered…” And it certainly didn't help that she'd all but run away from her the moment she asked if she was hungry - she hadn't even suggested yet that Bri feed from her. Was it so unappealing that she had to practically fly across the room? She pouted, missing her hold. "We could watch anything you want," she added, inching closer to her. "What are you gonna do when you are hungry?" she asked.
