Paloma wasn't entirely sure what drew her to the cafe - she had free reign of the menu at The Daily Drip after all. But she'd been more and more curious about the clientele that came more often to the Crypt. She'd already been nosy about vampires upon finding out about Bri - but she needed a lot more information if she was going to ask her to turn her. The cafe was a good place to do her scheming. Maybe she was also just determined to clear her name and get the baristas there to like her. She wasn't totally inept or selfish, it was just a one time - "Are you serious-," she muttered under her breath when she looked up from her screen to see Ken. As usual, she fixed him with a glare - but loudly, so he would see her and stop rather than ignoring her. "Are you stalking me?" She quipped, eyes narrowed at him as she took a pointed sip of her drink - that she managed to order without a hitch. The curl of her lips made it pretty clear that she wasn't serious. "...what do you even drink here? The red eye?" She didn't ask, but she was pretty sure that was just an espresso with blood in it.

Boats weren't exactly something unfamiliar to her, by any means. Except - she was used to yachts and lounging on the deck. Tiny little boats that had to be moved by hand, that required way too much use of her limited strength? Those were another beast altogether. She nearly abandoned the whole idea once she realized just how difficult and uncute it would be to struggle her way across the water. So, maybe she cheated a bit with some magical help - nobody would know. Finally, the pieces were in place for a night Brie wouldn't forget - or, that they could both forget forever if anything went wrong. She only hoped that nothing terrible would happen - that some lake monster wouldn't come try to snatch everyone up and drown them, once again ruining her carefully laid plans.

Anyway - she was all smiles as she sat across from Brielle, doing her best to look like she was doing her part to move the boat. The life vest she was forced to wear kind of clashed with her outfit - but she would just take it off when it came time to take photos. "This is cute, right?" She reached out to pat her knee, an uncharacteristically awkward gesture. For the first time in probably ever, she was nervous. It didn't help that things had gotten slightly heated after their discussion the other night about her volunteer work at the country club - but they'd moved past that. Hopefully. "I was thinking about singing at the little karaoke thing on Wednesday - I could totally get Blossom Babe, right?"

He hadn’t been gone for long. 

A couple hours, maybe three at maximum, he hadn’t kept track nor cared much for the passage of time, but it cannot have been long. In fact he could list the things he had done on one hand: cleaned up, a necessary check up on Rohan, got a drink and decided at the last minute to pick up some takeaways along the way to save him the trouble of cooking, though he knew Palmoa might order food, there was no guarantee that Ken would like it. Nothing she had done, apart from staying beside Leyla while he was away, seemed to have his approval and edible food was not something he wanted to leave it up to chance. But that was not a thought to let fester in his mind as it would only spike his annoyance. Point was, these were all perfectly reasonable things that needed to happen. 

Sense and reason swapped places with utter bewilderment as he stepped in and stampeding their way out of the house that probably never treated them well, and Ken, having been at a zero on the scale of perplexity, rose to the highest level as he bore witness to the scene in front of him, words stumbling out before he could stop himself, “What the fuck?” But, really he couldn’t stop it even if he tried. He did assume Leyla might be awake by the time he returned, but her being carried by a strange man could never have been imagined, “What in actual hell is going on?” Tearing his gaze away from how the guy had his arms around Leyla, Ken turned pointedly at Paloma, cold stare and barely reigned in his irritation, “Explain. I know this is your fault somehow.”

"Lo, is that you? How is she?" Leyla peaked up towards the door to her bedroom as she heard the familiar sound of her roommate and practical sister getting home. After being scolded repeatedly for attempting to crawl out of bed and to the hospital to see Dilan, she had finally given in to Paloma and Ken and agreed to stay put, but that didn't mean that she wasn't out here still struggling to sit up in bed so that she could hear all about how Dilan was doing at the hospital either. "Please, tell me she's at least taking vampire blood now?"
