Has anyone wondered why he was carrying this in the first place? Since it's their C-support it can't be that he knew about it and got it for her beforehand.

Which leads me to my conclusion: the gem was actually Diamant's, which he gave to her. Since he admits in his B-support with Alcryst that he is scared of magic, it makes sense that he has a lucky charm on him (as per Fire Emblem rules, there is one (1) character per game who needs a charm to fight their fear and I'm here for it).
