On the note of Alecto and radiation poisoning. There's a small art collective that I pass pretty regularly, and for a while there they had the MOST Locked Tomb art in their window you could ever find. Just. Come on.
(under the cut for uhhhh cartoon gore?)

Doesn't this just SCREAM from my blood and bone and vomit I conjured up a beautiful labyrinth to house you in and as fast as she could be stitched together, she came apart.
I dunno. It's just her. Frankenstein's monster with long yellow hair.

where: rabastan & alecto's manor, scotland who: @r-lestrcnge & @xgeorgetteollivanderx
It seemed fitting that Georgette would be the one to christen her dungeon, yet it was the same stone table that remained in the middle of the room. Similar to her old dungeon, this one was a tad more spacious, giving her more options of what else she wished to collect over time. This space would be where she would gather information for the Dark Lord.
The witch did have a beautiful scream, a screech that rippled down her spine and left her body vibrating, bringing forth a hunger . With how hormonal Alecto was feeling, she had faith that this session would bring the release she longed for, the chaos that desired to be free. Unable to collect her prize possession on her own, she had fellow death eaters retrieve her guest, unconscious, ample time to secure her in place and wait for her to wake.
"I've missed you," she purrs, slipping from her chair when the other starts to stir, the tip of her wand running along their arm, tonight Georgette's eyes covered, wishing to keep her mask off. "Did you miss me?" Patience was not her virtue, normally one to toy with her prey, she found the incredible urgency to inflict pain. "Crucio!" The twitching of the witches body causing goosebumps to cover her flesh.

Going back to the castle where heād spent some of his best and worst years wasnāt exactly what Evan had planned out for his week, but the Headmaster had scarcely asked and the Dark Lord heavily implied he should attend. A lecture. He hadnāt got the faintest idea what he was supposed to talk about but he figured heād wing it like he always did. Go in, speak, get the hell out. Or so he thought, for dear old Dumbledore was impish in his own way. He knew that the moment the door opened and he saw the familiar face staring back in disdain. A dry laugh left his lips before leaning his body against the doorframe. āApparently you are my guide around the school grounds for the day? Jokeās on you.ā He said, though at this point he believed it was a punishment devised for both their strain.

She ended up having her fair share of fun after all. However, the latest events of her evening left her rather moody and when Athena was in a mood, there were really few things that could lighten her up. Quidditch was off the table considering where they were at, but stirring up some trouble was most certainly not. Her eyes scanned the room until they found the witch she was looking for and decided to approach. "Exactly who I wanted to see." She greeted her friend with a nod of her head, neither too affectionate. "I'm bored and felt maybe you were too. Would you consider doing some harm around with me, my love?"

01 | TAKE THE WHEEL
ffxivwrite2024 01: STEER to control the course of; to be subject to steering
desperate times call for desperate measures. atalanta & a monster. 1390 wc.
It took her a small eternity to work out how to open her eyes, mostly because she couldn't remember how the muscles in her face were connected or how many eyes she had to begin with. Or eyelids. She was used to having transparent ones, not thisāsolid nonsense that left you vulnerable. How useless. And when she finally got them open she couldn't even tell she had managed it for several minutes because these eyes were no better than a nychterida's. It looked just as dark as when she had her eyes closed, black as death and no less cold. The only reason she could tell she was in a cavern was the roughness of the stone beneath her hands, the curve of the wall pressing into her back. Everything in her burned and ached the longer she stared into it.
She was alive. Returned to the land of the living after so long.
Then she realized what must have brought her here and a much sharper feeling started to bubble in her blood.
"You little coward," she roared, an awful ache in her throat revealing itself as she did. What came from her mouth barely sounded like words. Forget that. Forget everything she'd thought before. None of that pissed her off more than Them. She tried to leave, to claw deep down inside herāinside Their body and rip until They were forced to wake up, to take it back, take it all back, but in her fury she lost control. Every muscle spasmed. Ligaments groaned. It was only when something snapped that she grit Their teeth and stopped herself before anything more permanent occurred. The satisfaction wasn't worth the retribution she'd earnāthough, if she did it right, ruined just enoughā¦
"Alright, monster, listen close."
She froze at the sound of Their voice accompanied by a flickering light, confused and afraid. By this point she'd tipped Their body over from its seat by the wall, cheek pressed to cold and damp cave-floor as blood dribbled from the mouth, and a terrible feeling came over her; she'd been tricked, she'd been lured out to slaughter, she was in a different body and They were in the shadows ready to be free of her for good.
But Their voice came again, in perfect time with the light, and she heard it: fear.
"Don't go getting any clever ideas. You're only here because I let you," They said, and thereāa tremble, a pause for a deep breath. That was a thing They did to stay calm, wasn't it? She copied them, a slow in-out-in-out through Their mouth, and most of the burning feeling everywhere dissipated, which was strange. "And before you start tearing me apart, you're not here for anything but to sit here. Right here. Get back up, you melon, before you get me ill from all the⦠cave dirt. Or what have you."
In a stubborn fit, she tried to stay still, but something in her coiled tighter the longer she laid on the floor. Maybe it was already too late to not be infected, or some manner of spell to compel her. Either way, she got up.
As she did, clumsily bending one arm to brush the sharp pebbles off Their face, she saw itāshe saw Their sword, glowing to the rhythm of Their voice. It had been stabbed into the floor clumsily, at an angle that threatened to tip over the longer it remained that way. But it stood, and if she focused, she could clench Their hands and feel the exact way the sword's handle would fit.
"In the interest of curbing any rebellion, I might as well explain what you missed."
She groaned. "Just because I reside within you doesn't make me blind," she said. "I know already, youā"
But They couldn't hear them, or at least Their spellwork couldn't. "In the process of aiding Azem with this week's disaster, there was an earthquake. Or a landslide? Can't seem to recall the word. Either or works for you, I suppose. I got caught, and thenāI was. Here." Pause. "I think I fell through somewhere I wasn't supposed to. They warned usāthe village. To create, they convert aether from the abundance of crystals grown underground, instead of putting their own aether into the already-dense aetheric atmosphere of their home. They said they were trying not to give the wildlife anything more to gorge on. Creative of them. Wish I could manage even that."
"Haven't you done enough?" she grumbled. Not only had she been unceremoniously dragged here, but now she was forced to listen to more of their moping? Was it not enough that she had already personalized her own little space in hell? "I'm sitting right here."
Pause. Pause.
"I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry. For the rambling and what I've done."
She blinked. Once, then twice. That was⦠new. Her memory was blurred, terribly so, but in all her time she couldn't ever recall anyone knowing of her and apologizing.
Their words started gaining speed. "If I were better, maybe you wouldn't be stuck down here in the dark with me. Just my luck I fell into one of the emptied caverns. It's so dark. I can't think here. So in a desperate act, I forced this on you. To think. I'll come back when I've got something. All you need to do is stay here andānot break anything. Please. I'll make it up to you, find anything you want, get your revenge twice over, justā" Deep breaths. She could feel the last remants of Their panic still running through Their blood. "Don't make me come back until I'm ready."
She watched the sword carefully as the last few sparks of aether conveying Their voice guttered out and left her in the dark for good. It was still there, a short distance from where They had abandoned their body in cowardice.
But she knew that fear intimately, didn't she. Some amount of satisfaction rose in her knowing that They were no stronger against it than she was.
AndāThey were sorry.
Careful of the thing in Their back she had pulled too hard earlier, she got up from her seat and stumbled over to the sword. There was no telling in the void-black darkness where the handle met the blade, and she misplaced Their hands, but it did not cut. She smiled when she finally set Their hands in the correct place, the barely-there callouses feeling at home on the grip. Her approximation of a smile must have looked strangeāall teeth and pulled too tight, but who was here to see? What mattered was that it felt good.
"My turn to talk, abomination. And I know you can hear me," she growled, though she tried hard not to ruin anything this time. Who was she to ruin what she'd been offered? "You're as much a fool as the rest if you believe I'd just sit here in the dark until you come to collect. And couldn't you have thought to ask my opinion with all your intelligence, instead of so rudely dragging me out?" She paused. "Though I have to admire your cleverness. Your body is a mess, but I've not had one in an age. What a wonder it is to feel. We should do this more often."
Her old senses were rusted, but having to listen to Them talk had given them time to line up alongside Their senses. The dark remained as it was, but the body had other ways to discern its surroundings, and They had given her a clue. If she were any other being, it would have been useless. But she had spent countless years in a 'dense aetheric atmosphere' and could tell apart ambient from living by smell alone; there was at least one thing underground with her, and if she could find it, make it afraid, make it want nothing more than to escape her, then maybe it would run to the surface. Leave a path to follow.
Better than than to sit here. She pried the sword from its resting place and hefted it onto her shoulders.
"I've no desire to be trapped down here any more than you do," she said, "so let's get out of here, 'Atalanta'."

man unraveling the mystery of "the work," and anastasia's vow with alecto, and samael, etc once alecto comes out is going to be such a rosetta stone. because what do you *mean* the mysterious favor harrow still owes ianthe is, specifically, "the favour of the chain"
#bitch when i read that my stomach dropped! what HAPPENED! i wanna know anastasias story so baaaaadddd ugh#that said... her agreement with ianthe a) ends upon the death of harrowhark the first b) extends into the house but NOT the tomb#c) takes precedence over any debt sworn to anyone LESSER than alecto ie any vow sworn TO alecto will override it#all three of which seem like very plausible escape routes that could come into play#so at least there's that#htn spoilers#harrow the ninth spoilers

where: edgar's home who: @lbfrank
Edgar had arrived home, tossing his jacket on the back of the chair, he sauntered into the kitchen for a glass of water when the hair on the back of his neck stood straight. He could feel the wards around him home shift, giving him notice that he was going to have a visitor; he wasn't expecting anyone.
He moved into the living room, wand in hand, when he found a body knelt in the middle of the room, blood pooling on the ground. "Frank?" Panic and concern etched into his voice, instantly come to the wizard's side, reaching down to try to help the wizard up. "We need to get you on the couch so I can look at you." Something had to have gone wrong, but how did anyone find out about them being there.

Anthony rolled his eyes, he really didn't understand why he even tried. And he never thought he'd say it, but clearly Rabastan Lestrange was the politer of the pair. Grabbing a broom, he shrugged. "Suit yourself, love." Heading out to the pitch to practice.
END
The fact the blonde continued to speak to her was impiousness. "What makes you think I would indulge such information?" Disgust seeped from each word she uttered. "Such a waste of my time." This search for Emma was becoming too tedious. "I'm done here."

It was meant to be a short visit, grab a cup of tea with her friend, in and out. However, her appearance at the castle didnāt go unnoticed and the witch was summoned to the headmasterās office as soon as her feet hit the stone corridors. Pissed off by the inconvenience, coming out half an hour later, Athena was quick to come into Alectoās office once she allowed her in. āThat spiteful dreary man you work for thought he could summon me, give me a lecture. Who the bloody hell does he think he is and how do you put up with for Merlinās sake?ā The brunette exclaimed, clearly crossed. āAnd you⦠a baby dear? How did that happen?ā

"I have been told that I was lucky." She did not like admitting weakness, especially to someone as intimidating as Alecto Carrow. There was something about her that made Serra wary to let her guard down. She had never liked showing that she did not feel well as she did not want that to be used against her. Unless she leaned into the dramatics and the optics of it to get pity or attention from people, if she planned a bout of fatigue for example it was entirely different to fainting out of the blue and perhaps hurting herself in the process. "You can stay for a bit, I appreciate the company." Lie, but it was the polite thing to say.
Alecto had witnessed what happened to Serra at the wedding. So when fate placed her at St. Mungoās for a routine check-up with the twins, it wasnāt concern that drove her to Serraās room, it was curiosity, and perhaps something a little harder to name. The babies slept soundly in their carriage, undisturbed by the sterile hush of the corridor as she stepped inside.
She caught the flicker of disappointment on Serraās face before it was quickly masked, and while Alecto noted it, she didnāt comment. Instead, her gaze swept the room with a detached eye.
āI see you are well,ā she said, tone edged with faint annoyance at the cold reception. āIf my presence is too much for you, by all means, say the word."

It was the first public event she attended ever since the tumultuous dinner party. The wedding was one event she wouldnāt dare miss, not only for the obvious implications regarding their society but also because both the bride and groom were close friends. She spotted Alecto sitting at a table, making her way over since they hadnāt talked much lately. āI really do hope we can leave things behind and enjoy a good time. How are you, dear?ā Athena greeted her friend, taking a seat in front of her. āThat dress definitely suits you.ā She complimented the witch, gesturing to her cleavage.
